Well, the title says it all.
Anyone know of any ebook readers that work with text to voice ?
It would be great for letting me carry on listening to a book I'm reading on my commute.

Playing with my new Hero and realised I could quite happily read the odd book I have in PDF.
The problem I have found is the text is too wide for the screen, anyone know a way or changing the width of the column of text in my PDF.
I have full rights on the PDF and a acrobat profesional license through work.
Any ideas welcome,
Cheers
There is an option in the menu called "reflow" or something similar. Change it to that and it will automatically reformat the pdf to fit your screen better.
Yup, in the native PDF reader app on hero, choose view and reflow.
Most PDF readers have some option to do this - in Repligo Reader, it actually calls it Book view or reader view I think.
On Docs to Go its view/Word wrap.

Hi,
Just wondering if there is a ebook reader on the Android Marketplace? Currently I use Mobipocket and Ereader.com but there software doesn't seem to support Android, is there another program I can use to read books from these sites??
Aldiko has a great UI, handles formatting really good and the company just released a free version. FBReader is also good.
Thanks for that droid will have a look at them when my phone turns up tomorrow. I know tha mobipocket has protection on their books so I expect to not be able to read them but is there a way to conver these books so that Aldiko or FBReader can display them?
Aldiko uses .epub as its format, and you can convert to this using a prog called Calibre.
There's also Repligo Reader which I think uses .pdf
If you can convert to .pdf, there are a few readers and most have a view allowing WordWrapping or automatic alteration of lines length to fit the screen. Think I like Aldiko best as it has left to right swiping for reading instead of scrolling upwards, and also has a black on white and white on black mode changer. Well worth the money and the converter, plus lots of free .epub books available.

+1 for Aldiko - lets you choose fonts, colours - and has a lookup facility (though not a dictionary -0.001).
Checkout Calibre for conversion to epub, as Dayzee says.
Also checkout "ProcessTextGroup" for "Amber LIT Converter" - will convert MS .Lit files to .html (but use care, as i recall - a confusing download).
i.e. Amber will convert .lit to .html
then Calibre will convert .html to .epub
- Amber will not read DRM protected files.
Best of all is WordPlayer v3. Its free and it can use TTS (text to speech) engine. I can put on my earphones and listen to my ebooks even during a car drive. I use TTS on my laptop since ages and thats much superior way of enjoing ebooks than using your eyes. But most amazing is that there is free polish (and other exotic languages) tts engine for android! WP3 uses epub format so use callibre with it...
Thanks guys will check all those out when my Hero arrives I also sent an email to Ereader.com and got a reply saying they are working on an Android version of there software so can't wait for that, unfortunetly they didn't give any release times/dates
PDF (magazine) covers do not show up on the NookColor. And I hate swiping up and down to change pages with PDFs....
I tried covnerting it to epub with Calibre, but then I can't zoom in and READ the articles... The covers showed up and I could change the pages with a side click...
Anyone else find the BEST way to deal with magazine PDFs (converting them)?
It should be noted, that each page appears to be an IMAGE - it does not appear to be a mix of text and graphics.
I use ezPDF Reader for scanned magazines and pretty much all other PDF's. Like you mentioned the pages are basically images so there really isn't an easy way to seperate the pictures and text. It's not going to be anything like the magazines that you subscribe to through B&N but ezPDF Reader does a much better job than the built-in reader.
I've been trying to look for a well functioning PDF app for this nook since i originally bought it for the purpose of textbooks for my school. I am able to find the necessary textbooks, but i have issues accessing specific chapters from the default PDF reader. I was looking for the idea to author some PDF's so i can mark pages as starting point for the chapters. Has anybody found success at finding any good PDF reader such as that?
PDF Readers that are broke:
QuickOffice
Adobe Reader
DocumentsToGO
Repligo and ezPDF. Both allows annotation and bookmarking. Give it a try!
Cool thank you!
Actually ezPDF works pretty decently and Repligo has a few isses though...I've noticed that when you turn the pages too fast it doesn't register, which isn't that big of a deal; but bookmarking breaks when trying to access.
Yes, but Repligo reflows .pdf better.
Hi
ezpdf available in nook str only when rooted or have other way for install ezpdf
Thanks
ezpdf is only available when rooted. Rooting does work fine, and when done properly, is painless.
Do pdf readers software after root my nook str dive me allows annotation and bookmarking and zoom for any pdfs (with and without drm) ?
is any free software remove drm in pdf files?
I try Mantano Reader and think it's greate to epub or pdf books (the only that I can adjust diferents pdfs files with a good quality), integrated with Adobe Digital Reader wich allows to read DRM books. Have a lot of options to configure it and if you spend a little time you will have a nice experience with your nook touch! I was i little bit frustrated with read pdfs in the nook touch but now with Mantano I'm happy.
Mantano is the best for me (plus the side buttons works).

Guys I need a good PDF reader. I use it to read Programming / coding related books most of the time. The conversion of such books to ePub isn't that good. So any good pdf reader out there ?
My problem is, font size will be too low when opened in PDF. Then I have to zoom in & zoom out, to turn to next page. Imagine this for books having 1000 pages :O
So suggest me a good PDF reader.
TIA
Adobe reader and ez pdf reader both have text reflow. That sounds like just what you need.
I have been using Moon Reader Pro for both PDFs and Ebooks... loving it thus far. Been using it for a few weeks. There is a free version as well, and it supports Calibre servers natively.

Oh ! How do I activate that ? I already have Adobe Reader installed
Open the pdf. On the latest version, click the view button (3rd from right on top bar) and select reflow text. It only works if it's a text-based pdf, scanned ones won't work.
^thank u ! It somewhat solves my problem. Are there any better solution for it ?
Give Mantano Reader a try.
