yes bluetooth hero again.... - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just wondering if bluetooth for hero has had any breakthroughs. I had to swap my jac hero for xrom. I like Xrom but after using hero for so long I miss it and its features. I need bluetooth before I can change back!

Bluetooth works on the hero.....
...... phone itself, but really i read a tweet jac sent out a few days back about a vague reference to something new to get bluetooth working, so maybe it will be working sometime soon.

semi workin video recorder

Its not the best yet but it is working. I have been trying each release not really expecting much and as of today it is working for me.
Prob I'm having is the video lags, but the audio plays normal speed which causes it be off sync.
It has an internaql converter to mp4, which works and the output file is playable in meridan player, but still has prob described above. When I get home tonight ill try converting in super or similar.
The name of the program is simply video recorder.
http://www.android7.org/forum/index.php is their forums. (Which I have not checked out)
Just fig id throw this out there incase anyone else was interested.
For refrence I'm on jf 1.42 rc33
or... you could always go with one of the cupcake builds and have a perfectly working video recorder
Disclaimer: Sorry, I know the cupcake builds aren't for everyone, I just couldn't resist.
cupcake builds not quite there. i tried both and didn't care for the h build at all. loved the g build, but once the market quit, i switched back to jf. would have loved to stay on g, but no market was a deal breaker.
ya i hear ya. from what ive read the 1.5 builds have come a longway. im prob gonna give one a try here tonight, but since ive only had my phone just over a month, i know whats its like in the first few days just wanting somehting stable. for thoses people, fig at least there is some glimer of a vid recorder, lol. at least till they get comfortable trying a new build...or an offical release, ha.
Or you can just wait for the official cupcake release

Do you think bluetooth or LED will ever work under Hero

The reason I ask is not at all to be critical of the development going on with Hero, on the contrary, I think it's going very well. However, today is my last day to return the G1 I got 14 days ago. I love Hero and want to use it on a device with a hardware keyboard. The G1 is the only option for that, but I use bluetooth every day in my car. It's a must.
So, I forward the question, are you guys making progress? Can we count on it getting done or should I take this phone back to t-mobile today?
I'm quite confident for the LEDs. The Hero builds are not such a radical departure that we've all been left stranded in the atlantic, so to speak. When it boils down to it, they're still just Android-1.5, with some extra HTC glue on the top.
However, if you're in doubt, why not return it and get the Hero (when it's released)? HTC's software keyboard is easily the best I've used, so the loss of a hardware one wouldn't sting so much. Sure, you'd have to wait for root, but at least you've have a no-nonsense Rosie.
Magic 8 Ball says: "maybe"
in all honesty no one even knows for sure if Hero is coming to tmo. That might be a factor as well. Really though it's still android..and the g1 is a great phone..we don't know anything about the hero phone from a reliability/battery life/heat standpoint yet. It could prove to be the next iphone 3gs.
Keeping it
Ok guys, I'm keeping the phone. That means I got 2 years of Android goodness ahead of me on this G1. Keep up the awesome work Hero guys, and please get bluetooth running. The rom is fast enough now, and bluetooth's the only thing keeping me from jumping over.
Thanks for the help.

Having gotten bluetooth 98% working under Hero rom I'm pretty confident I'll have a solution soon. I have a feeling that with LED's non-functional and tying up the I2C bus with requests to turn on/off the leds which end up failing, this is causing bluetooth to not be able to disable the uart clock, which coincidentally has to be done over the I2C bus. I know, it sounds like a foreign language just be rest assured a fix for both "SHOULD" be coming soon.
Any news?
15 days passed... got any more progress on bluetooth and leds? Please say yes
Is there any workaround?

be patient. why not downgrade ur phone to a rotted cupcake if bluetooth is soo important. hero is nice on the eyes..but in your case it seems like you need function.
cyanogen is a solution.works well.
Right now, I'm using a Rogers dream firmware, and it works really nice. It has about 80% of Hero (mostly HTC Framework, HTC boot animation/sound, and several apps such as the HTC Music app, and the Hero Java JBED (loving it, lots faster than the Netmite J2ME) just without the Rosie/Sense/TouchFLO (yet...), and its associated mods), and 100% of the G1/Dream compatibility (LED's, WiFi, Bluetooth, Audio, etc.)
And there are Hero themes for the Rogers Dream firmware that aren't unlike those of 'lite' Hero builds (without any Sense). Twidroid, Twidgit, and a weather/clock widget would make it indistinguishable in function, for the most part, from a real Hero.
Though I am hopeful for development on the bluetooth issue, and there's a topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527027) that seems to be making progress on this issue, I can't use a Hero ROM until the bluetooth is functional, as I use my G1 as my main music player, and I don't have a wired pair of headphones to use with them (some kid stole them from me, including the adapter). I do have an iPod bluetooth adapter, but since my iPod 5G, with custom themed Apple OS, Rockbox and Linux, crashed (unsurprisingly), it's not of much use to me currently.

are you using the RogHero build? i forget the dev... ah just checked it's Maxisma. hopefully the hero stuff is done soon with BT, cuz i know LEDs are working on some builds now because i really wanna show my dad (who is so not a techie person) that i can run something besides the Dream stuff on my G1 lol. good luck to all those trying to port the Hero ROM to the Dream...
I think I'm using a soulife build, as my /system/build.prop has:
ro.build.display.id=CUPCAKE.eng.Soulife.20090522.075548
I forgot exactly, as I usually keep my update.zip's on the computer except for a couple important ones.

G1 running Hero with working BT?!

Has anyone seen this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlrQtaTH3ZE&feature=related
Person claims they somehow flashed Cyanogen's ROM the flashed Hero Over 1.1 and now you have Dream/G1 with working BT. Has anyone confirmed this is possible, or is this just some garbage?
Thanks.
From what I've read of the bluetooth/hero scenario, it doesn't sound plausible.. but I didn't watch the video cos I couldn't tolerate the repulsive music or the inabality to FOCUS HIS F*CKING CAMERA!!
I also don't see how it's possible to flash hero-over directly over CM, unless hero-over doesn't format the system partition as part of the flash process.. but I'd imagine that would cause all sorts of problems... This smells of horse **** to me, but we'll see if he comes out with a workable process.
Over the course of who knows how long the devs have been able to show bluetooth as on, this however doesn't make it useful if you can't have it connect to anything
I thought as much. Thanks for your input.

The poster of this video claims to have transferred files over it..
i was able to turn on bluetooth a while back on a hero rom .... but u cant connect to anything
people post fake vids all the time...
right now the only solution ive seen is what maxisma posted about flashing the 32a magic spl on the g1 (dont try this unless your super experienced and know what your doing [ie...if you dont know what 32a or spl, you shouldnt even consider it])
He just replied to my request for a process..
mohfuzul12 has sent you a message:

I went to the site and pointed out the fact that no one in XDA has come up with a working HERO in that sense and this guy must have SERIOUSLY brainwashed a few of these kids. One of them started emailing me hate mail and attacking me on Youtube just for questioning the situation.
There's another guy named ItsAnAndroidWorld who's got a video claiming the same thing only he never goes into the bluetooth and tries to turn it on.
I've been reading about using bttest and hcitools to get it working on a HERO rom but i didn't have much luck with HERO Sense. It must only work on a very specific HERO rom.
Yeah, i'm definitely with you guys because i've googled all over for an answer to the HERO rom problem with BT, and there are some possible solutions, but.....i'm not risking bricking my phone just to see if they're right.

Eclair Camera Support - is it a Kernel or User Space Issue?

I really want Eclair bad.. but I can not live without a camera.
What exactly is the ongoing issue with getting Elcair camera to work - is it a kernel issue or a user space one?
If it is user space I might start looking into it myself using the working donut code as a starting point.
There seems to be very little information on this board about the *development* of Eclair. Everyone is just talking about builds and cooking. Should I be looking at another board for actual Java hacking to get the user-space working (assuming it is in user-space) ?
I think it's due to user space as everything works fine in Donut builds. For example, BlueTooth works fine in polyrhythmic's Eclair builds for Kaiser, while other eclair builds don't.
I'm sure if someone took a look at what polyrhythmic did with his build, you could get bluetooth working on other eclairs, and this could maybe even help figure out how to get the camera working as well.
Just shows how we really took advantage of polyrhythmic's work.

BT works in the Eclair builds on this forum too, Perhaps not so well on your Kaiser however.
Did Poly get BT audio working?
Regarding the camera. Thats a great question. I am not sure who is working on it?

Guess he didn't, just tried it myself and it only connects. No BT audio. According to his front page that BT audio is a kernel problem.
For the record, I don't care about Bluetooth, at all. But I can't go to eclair with no camera.
If it is confirmed user-space, then maybe I will start looking into it myself... although, I find it hard to believe months have gone by based on a simple userland issue?
i think it is user space also, because using an eclair NBH on warm donut camera works fine, but same NBH with eclair and the camera doesnt work so that would rule out the kernel most likely
Yes, it's a userspace problem, I wrote the userspace cam lib for cupcake and donut but there will be some changes needed for eclair and froyo.
I don't have much time at the moment and would rather make the kernel better with what time I do have.
It's probably not a difficult job to get it working, pm me if you need any pointers.

polymod 2.1g with the BT&WIFI update had btaudio working for kaiser.
2.1d lost btaudio but is a much faster build.
