iPhone OS on a HTC Dream? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was thinking while I was on the road to one of my family member's place for lunch and playing my nintendo ds when something that was interesting came across my mind.
Would it be possible to port the iPhone operating system over to HTC devices? I think the iPhone os is based on Mac OS X, or it's kernel.
Just a thought, comment/support/kill/hate it.

No, apple likes to keep their stuff secrets and besides...why would you buy an android phone and want an iPhone? you can make android look the liek teh iphone with ahome though.

When Android is ported to X1, it should be possible. Until then, probably not. Maybe some new (not yet anounced/released) HTC windows mobile phones will use a similar UI. In that case it will be a lot easier to port it to X1
I think first step should be ported Linux kernel with working drivers for Xperia hardware and then you can think about GUI

That's what a few members are working on.... but you're right. That's why I said 'when android is ported'.
Not a must, I heared Sense will come on winmo too, so no need for the hassle to port linux !
I don't think that "SenseUI" is coming to Windows Mobile. I've seen a lot of previews about the Hero. HTC has made a lot of changes in the "Manilla Firestorm", so I think that TouchFLO is the interface of WinMobile and SenseUI of android.

Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 users come on in!

I hope I'm not the only one insane enough to buy a Samsung device. Here's a picture with it next to my old Touch Pro and a friend's iphone:

The screen is fantatic, and the processor is snappy. I am going to miss the dedicated number row...

The hardware keyboard isn't as nice as the Touch Pro feel, but it's definitely nothing like the terrible Glofish or Acer ones. There's no custom ROMs since nobody seems to care about this device at the moment...

Here's one... Modaco kept me plenty busy w/ i900 Omnia ROMs
Perhaps is not that nobody cares, but the the fact we are in an HTC devices only forum
Yes I know this is off topic and I wish you good luck guys
It´s like having a Puma section inside the Nike forums Lol

Is this the "old" Nexus One?

It's been questioning me for a while now. When I browse mobile.google.com it shows the phone to the left on the picture.

Now, that's truely not the nexus one - it has hardware buttons and the trackball is somewhat huge. Any idea what this is?
Lol that's a HTC Magic, the 2nd Android phone released, about in May 09 (obviously appears to be running 2.1)

Nope. The HTC Magic looks different:
Gary13579 came to the decision it's a placeholder, well it makes sense 'cause that phone doesn't exist.
No, it is an HTC Magic, they just called it Dev Phone 2, can still buy it for $399

Weird - the Dev Phone 2 has hangup/pickup buttons while the phone you can see there doesn't ..
Looks like a FAKE modification of DEV Phone 2

Hey from France!

Hi,
I'm a new subscriber here. But I already followed your forum to test my first android root>lineage with an old xperia ray and it works now without any gapps (an emergency phone when one breaks for instance).
I don't have windows (I quit in 2004 to linux and now an old good unibody macbook pro for everyday and linux for "noobgeeking".
I'm used to use iphone but I'm looking for quiting since I'm bored of a centralized system. I don't usually like android because of gapps and tracking but I discovered - thanks to you- a way to be "independent". Vollaphone and it's multiboot vollaos/ubuntutouch is sexy to me: I'm going to buy one, I think so.
-_> My purpose is, these days (I posted yesterday about that), to root and to install lineage 19 in a Lenovo x606f: I asked a lot of questions because everything is not clear.
Read you soon !
and thanks to your forum!
Welcome to XDA and enjoy the forums information!
Cheers
