First off, gotta say thanks to all the developers here. Always been one to mess with my phone, but this place has opened me up to a whole new level of customization and editing. I got 2 bricked Tilts from all the attempts at cooking my own roms, but hey ive learned from it.
Anyways, i just got around to flashing a new rom on my current Tilt (last one before finally switching to Touch Pro 2) which i am quite enjoying, and as i always have i went to install gullum diamond keys. Well needless to say it wasn't working this time, so i went to uninstall it after having found HTC EzTouch.
For some reason its just hanging on the uninstall screen even after multiple reboots. I don't really want to hard reset, but i have never removed a program by hand. A push in the right direction would be awesome.
Oh and the rom i installed was Stylez Black v.2 if that changes anything.
Probably as the sip is still running try and change the sip so as you are not using then uninstall.

Tried, still hangs on the uninstall. I know ive uninstalled it before, can't figure out what went wrong this time.
Oh and love the rom by the way Only had to add S2U2 to make it perfect for me.
Been trying for a while now to figure out how to remove this. Tried a secondary uninstall program, tried off my computer, still wont uninstall. I can't reinstall it since you have to uninstall it to reinstall.
I looked at the setup xml file in the cab, and a good few of the registry keys are missing, which is why im guessing it doesn't work. All of the image files are still in the windows folder, but i can't figure out what registry keys to remove to just stop it from running on the device.
Any help would be awesome, i just need to get it off so i can get the new keyboard on it, its the last thing i need to do xD

I haven't been playing with ROMs so far. I've got a stock T-Mobile UK ROM. Today I noticed that suddenly in comm manager I've got a bold font. It looks pretty ugly, but I don't know how to get rid of it. I searched the registry for tahomabd and arialbd, but it couldn't find anything.
Can someone help?

I got the same problem last week after installing a game..I think it called "wacky games" or something. Basically you have to hit bunnies that come up from the holes.
anyway, try to remember if you just installed any program that might fit in the time frame. Dont forget to do soft reset everytime you uninstall a program..just to make sure that the change in the registry is registered correctly.
Exactly the same thing happened to me, a couple of days ago.
You're right, it is pretty ugly!
I think it was when I installed the weather panel plug-in that this must've happened.
I also tried various ways of changing it back, with no success.
I then thought about whether I really needed the WP, which I don't, so I uninstalled it, then looked again at comm manager.
It was still on the ugly font but a quick soft reset and it was back to normal.
Happens more often , a new font file gets placed in windows/fonts/
Delete it , reset and its back to normal.
I have a att tilt somehow I am having problems with the original jvm that came with the phone. I did the remove all bloatware, and i had everything like I liked it for a month. Now all of the sudden it wont let me install new midlets it just sits there at the install screen. Well I downloaded jasjammings jbed and that would let me install them but it wont let me run them in full screen. So I was installing with that and running with the phones built in jvm but now the built in wont recognize what i installed with jasjammings. All I really want to do is somehow get the built in one to work because when I first got the phone it worked perfect and all that. I have done a few resets hardware and soft to go back to the original everything. I think I may have deleted a system file that it didnt want me to delete. The whole thing is the fullscreen thats all I want right now running it in jasjammings it still has the title bar where as the original jvm which is esmertecs jbad does not which frees up the screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
Line breaks man, line breaks...
I would start with a hard reset (yes, another one). Just make sure to soft reset at the Customizing dialog so that the bloatware doesn't come back.
If that doesn't help, go to HTC's support site (link) and download the latest AT&T ROM. Flash it to your device and try java again.

I think a hard reset is the recommended way to remove it. And no, a hard reset will not remove your rom, it will put it back like you just finished flashing.
NO U DONT HAVE TO HARD RESET
why go thru all that when there's an easier way.
what u need to do is:
1. dl and install sktools
2. make sure its not active on ur today screen
3. use sktools to uninstall it and soft reset once its done.
tadaaaa
Trial and error method!
Hi all,
My trial and error method which worked is to uninstall all the apps which came with Manilla2D, e.g. new comm manager, audio manager, etc. Ignore any messages that say "not completely uninstalled". Then, uninstall Manilla2D in the normal way, you will of course get the usual "not completely uninstalled" message. Select "No" to removing from list of installed applications. Then re-install the same Manilla2D cab file that you installed before. You will see the message: "The previous version will be uninstalled..." select to continue, then you will get a second message saying: "The previous version was not completely uninstalled...do you want to continue..." at which you should select to do so. The "install" will take about 3 or 4 minutes then if you are not prompted to restart your device at the end of the installation, you should do so anyway. When your device restarts it should be M2D free. N.B. one thing that seemed to help this process was preventing the device going to stand by during the whole process, by plugging it in or changing the power auto-off settings.
This method is not proven so it may not work on your device.
N.B. I am using ROMeOS 4.6.0. If you do need to hard reset your device I recommend this ROM anyway.
Best wishes,

Yes, after trying various things to remove Manila (including trying to install it again as suggested in another post) the only thing that worked for me was sktools BUT - even after SKTOOLs removed it, it left behind various side effects which took me two more days to get rid of
(i) I use Nadavi_Task_Manager_2_0_31261 . Its onscreen quick menu was spoiled. I had to remove and re-install it to get it back to normal
(ii) HTC Home - many things were screwed up, all teh phone numbers i had set up on the Favorite People tab were gone and I could not add any number. The weather tab had stopped working altogether. I had to install a patched version of HTC Home I found on these forums (not because I knew what I was doing but because I did not know what else to do!!)
So after all that I am wondering whether it would have been just easier to do a hard reset and restore from a back up (which as it happens I had taken just minutes before installing Manilla)

wow the first i heard of anything like this before..thats just crazy
ive de-installed and re-installed plenty of times prior to having manila on a rom with no issues, even during the opening hours of the coding release we had.
did u run the sktools clean up after de-installing?
registry cleaner as well?
and i presume u soft resetted as well? as the instructions say to do.
also u have to understand m2D isnt just a theme..its an app that takes over whatever else u had on ur today screen, just like any other app and also its not perfected we're still trying to get there, we're damn near close..but not at 100% just yet.
Whenever I get the "not completely uninstalled, would you like to remove from list of programs?" message, I just choose "No", soft reset, then uninstall the program once again. Works every time.
Hi guys,
I tried to uninstall Manilla2D too, and I used Sktools. But when i came to "Installed Programs" i couldnt see Manilla there. There were only 2 programs there: Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, and SK Software SKtools.
Please tell me how to uninstall it. Im really sick ot it now...
Thanks
hi i have installed a the Colour 3G 10 Button touch home dialer comm manager on my tytn ll but dont want it anymore and now i cant uninstall it, i try to run the installation process again to have the existing installation removed but i always get a message that it cannot be uninstalled, so i have gotten the SKTools program to remove it but still cannot find or remove this thing, can someone tell me where to look or how to get rid of it. thank you.
In SKTools:
- to be safe, start by doing a backup of your device (Sprite Backup or similar)
- select installed programs, then select the app you want to uninstall (and no other, otherwise they will also be uninstalled !)
- it shows all the components installed for that app
- make a screen capture of the installed components and save it for later reference
- select "Action", then "Uninstall marked" (not Uninstall marked standard !)
- if all goes well, it should be uninstalled
- otherwise, manually uninstall the components in your saved screen capture.
hi and thanks. see this is the problem tho, this 'Colour 3G 10 Button touch home dialer comm manager' is not showing up in the installed programs, i actually cant find it anywhere, i mean i know its there somewhere obviously, but i've even unzipped the file on my computer then looked for the files that came out of it manually in the windows folder and a few other places and using the search function of the fone and on SKTools and still can't find it haha. bugging me man. actually the search function doesnt bring up anything, i type in the exact file name of a few of the unzipped files and get no results. and now actually my original dial pad on the phone has been messed up too.so if anyone knows where i can find the windows mobile 6.1 phone dialpad i'd appreciate that too. does it even come separate?
First, did you soft reset after your uninstall? It often helps.
Also, being careful and using a registry editor, did you check if there are any unwanted remnants of the old dialer in the registry?
hi, thanks. no i didnt do a soft reset, i dont even know what that is actually. and i can't uninstall the app thats my problem. how would i know what files to look for in the registry?
thank u.

1) search for soft reset on this forum
2) under HKLM/software and HKCU/software, look for the name of the editor/developper or the name of the app
Again, be careful
Have you made sure commanager is not running before uninstall?
A way to make sure is to soft-reset "turn device off then on "
Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
