I want to start a new project. I have posted in a few threads about that. Here's the Idea. An app that runs in the background and updates weather every hour or user set interval. The thing about this app will be that it will change the wallpaper according to the weather conditions. The user will be able to select 6-10 wallpapers in particular folder on the sdcard and assign each one to the corresponding weather condition. It could be an existing app (like koxx weather).
I don't think it will be hard, but I'm not a developer. Here are some wallpapers taht could be used.
p.s. The idea is not entirely mine - if you take a look at some demo videos of motorola a3100 you can see that the weather app there is similar. Accuweather on android marked has a similar option. None of these interact with the wallpaper
Here are some "screenshots" of how it would look like.
Of course, I have changed them manually
hummm, it looks cool
if you can provide wallpaper, i'll se if I can integrate it to weather forecast widget
here are some wallpapers
png format 640x480
some more
here are more
That would be grrreeeeaaaatt !!!!
I DIG THIS IDEA! haha

The app in question is called "snowstorm" I found this in the market so make no claim to it !
Snowstorm will locate your position right down to small villages so is the perfect app for people annoyed with HTC's weather app.
So other than perfect location what else is there ? Skins ,plenty to choose from ! Choice of widgets , direct link to the main app (seven day forcast) when you click on the widget , easy to configure and lots of options, you can even choose the colour of the text on your widget so its visible whatever wallpaper your using.
One thing I like but others may find annoying is that the widget doesn't show the current weather, as standard it shows the weather in six hour segments, so what you see (depending on the widget ) is the weather in the next six hour segment say 12pm to 6am, you don't see what you can see by looking outside ! IMHO much more handy.
Oh the best thing about it ?
It's free !!!!
There's an app called 'Weather from Yr' which uses the same weather source (yr.no) and is a bit better IMO.
cheers! will have a look
Like me, everyone probably saves their prettiest and most useful widgets for their homescreen. Since I'm so finicky, I like to see everyone else's homescreens to get ideas for new homescreen widgets/setup.
This is what mine looks like. What does yours look like?
If you're wondering what the widgets are...
Beautiful widgets weather widget
Moine-Garde S-01 timepiece widget
Pulse reader widgets

It's just the Pulse News Reader widget, it's not a custom widget.
Your widgets look great! I only have the agenda widget from launcherpro. I might set up pulse that way too, depends if I ever get around to adding feeds.
I'm a big fan of customizing homescreen and that's one of the reasons why i love android so much and never liked the scrolling wallpapers in android launchers, So i always stop the wallpaper scrolling and then the next thing is that it's always awesome to have model wallpapers once in a while as the wallpaper but then it's really hard to find a good collection of model wallpapers that fits nicely. So i always have to search alot to find good stuff, so i thought of sharing what i've found with yo'll.
I'm not sure if all the lauchers support "wallpaper scroll" to stop or allow but most 3rd party launchers like NOVA, APEX,TSF shell...ect supports this, So this is for all those who want hot model wallpapers that does not scroll
I'm using these on my Galaxy Note 2 and they look great not full HD but still it's all good quality.

Here's something special for those who does not like to use the same wallpaper every single day. Most of you might know these apps already but this is for those who does not know about these amazing apps. So basically what they do is that they let you change your wallpaper automatically or with a simple click of a widget. so that you don't have to go through all the photos over and over again to select a new photo as your wallpaper. you can select a your folder or album with your favorite photos and then the app will change the wallpaper according to your settings. This is just the basic idea about these 3 apps you will understand what to do with it once you instal and check em out for yourself.

#3
Multipicture Live Wallpaper

I highly recommend wallpaper Changer #1 which is what i use daily.
> Low Ram use
>Low battery use
>Very simple
>2 modes - Live wallpaper and Stand alone app mode (if you don't tick the live wallpaper option it goes as a stand alone app
Multipicture live wallpaper is also great and has alot more features than my #1 and the best thing about it is that you can select different wallpapers for different screens it looks really cool. but make sure when you're in the settings you edit the memory consumption setting to LOW or Medium because otherwise it mat take too much of your ram.
It looks like the weather part of the old GenieWidget (News and Weather) gave up the ghost this past week
I guess the API finally changed for weather.com or the Weather Channel or where ever it came from. Anyway....I was using the weather widget for my homescreen. As clunky as it was, it also seemed sort of "right" for the NST. It didn't have a lot of microscopic information that you could not read and was just about the right size.
I'm currently trying out the unofficial NOAA app from the PlayStore but I'm not liking the widget too much. I've seen WeatherBug mentioned in the forum but the current version does not allow for manual location entry and the search function, like that of the old Market app, does not work (in fact the interface looks exactly like that for Market...).
So....does anyone have a weather widget they like?

Try Gismeteo Lite!
I haven't tried its widget on my Nook since I removed desktop-like launcher. However it states Android 2.0+, so it should work.
If you don't like it, there is a handful of weather widget apps sorted on 4pda forum.

Thanks for the tip! I've been trying out Aix but the little hourly graph is pretty silly as a weather widget. I like the looks of the Gismeteo widget except for the "+" sign in front of the temperature. I'm sure that's meaningful somewhere but it's not here and looks a little silly. Still, I'll see if I get used to it. Meanwhile I'll have a look at the list.
And the winner is.......
Weather Ace!!!! Amazingly complete little app, lots of customization options (fonts, "colors", backgrounds, transparency, etc.), a variety of different size/complexity widgets, different icon sets, different weather data providers (even a place to enter a WUnderground API key!). Very nice
The current market version is for Android 2.3 and up. I found the attached older version quite by accident while searching for weather widgets for Android 2.1.
Enjoy!

100% agree. I have a Nook setup solely as a weather station, using Weather Ace widgets to give me a handful of different temperatures and forecasts. It's pretty accurate, and with the right set of icons looks really nice on the Nook greyscale screen.

I made my first small widget that was left aligned and when my phone switched to landscape mode , It was horizontally drawn in the center, center aligned. Vertically it seemed to adjust okay
Does this app support the phone switching from portrait to landscape?
Also thanks.. this is a very fun app
