Blank SD card - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 3 G-1s all loaded with cm 4.0.4 recovery1.4 hard spl and latest radio. 22061 But one out of the 3 tells me blank sd card after running for awhile. I tried another card in it got the same results. Both cards formatted to fat 32 on windows then partitioned in recovery. Phone boots up fine. But after a day or two phone will freeze then I reboot and then in notitfications I get the message blank sd card. Bad g1?

I would say reflash your rom and see if it still does it
By the way, why do you have three, can I have one and then we both have two, then both of us can be happy

LOL ones my sons so were both happy

Oh, well good enough answer

G1 Not Getting Along With SD

Well im trying to get back on the "ROOT" wagon but its like "something" is trying to stop me from doing so.
I've rooted once before but reverted back to Google ROM(stock). Idk if that matters considering I hav had my phone working fine ever since i reverted back about 2 weeks ago.
So yeah when i mount my phone via usb to my computer its detects it and all
but when i try and reformat it to FAT32, to put the Dreaming file on the root
its disconnects it by itself. and then when i put anything sucssesfully on the card and insert it to my phone(My G1 formats the card, leaving it blank)
So im wondering is it a phone problem or sd
Ive tried diffrent cards. One works but is not big enough to hold my info
Oh and i tried using a sdcard reader and it can format it but
once again my phone formats it
So any input, anyone
Have you tried a different SD card, or try the SD card in a different phone/card reader?
What rom are you on? This was a issue awhile back people were having. I can't remember what the exact problem was. Kinda like to say it had something to do with the kernel.
i edited my post to try and be more clear
window formatter causes the same thing with my phone but if you format through the phone it makes a fat32 partition try just formatting the card thru the phone then connecting the card to your pc dump dreaimg on your card and flash that way do not format with windows
still it doesnt work
i think the 1.5 cupcake
hides the DREAIMG.nbh
cuz when i try to flash back 2 RC29
with the bootloader thing
it says no image file
let me ask is the dreaimg still in the zip?
no im not retarded
lol
ive done this before
but the problem is( i think)
my g1 is hiding the DREAIMG.nbh???
because cupcake is on it
but then again anything you put on this card gets erased by my phone regardless of file type(Music, Photos, etc..)
and i dont want to use my 1gb micro cuz its too small
you think i should just buy a new sdhc card

Noob Problem? "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem"?

Hello,
Everything's been peachy on my G1 for quite some time. I'm rooted running Super D's latest normal ROM. My phone died the other night while I was out. Next morning I booted my phone up and everything was gone. I used app's to SD so there was nothing on my phone, and the error message "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem". I've searched, yes searched here, google, and elsewhere. I've tried reformatting my SD cards in FAT32 again nothing worked. Every SD card I put in the phone it says the same thing. Factory Data Reset it and everything. My card reader reads every SD I put into my phone.
Is there a fix? What I've been trying to do is flash a different zip onto my phone directly though USB in recovery to see if that's the problem and no success even getting one flashed on.
Thanks for your help!

Edit:
Tested all of my SD cards that weren't working in my G1 on my brothers G1 and everything works perfectly fine? Could it be my ROM?
Anyone? I've tried about everything I could possibly think of. Does anyone know how to flash a zip without an sd card present?
I think your SD Card is corrupted, somehow.
What recovery do you have?
What OS do you have, (it would make things easier if you had linux, or could use a ubuntu live disk).
If you can use ubuntu, with a card reader see if you can recover any files at first.
Then use gparted to re-make the partitions on your sd card.
I've got W7U. In my recovery screen it says Build: RA-dream-v1.5.2. My SD Cards read perfectly fine with a card reader and in another G1. So its def. something with my phone or the ROM.

[Q] SD Card Problem

Recently my SD card became "damaged" or so the Android OS told me. I have a AData Class 6 16gb MicroSDHC card. When it gave me the initial message I attempted to "format" the card, yet it simply "pretended" to format it and then try to mount it again, where it said it was damaged. I tried to wipe the SD card, then i tried to wipe my phone, and neither of those seemed to fix it.
I spoke with a friend in the XDA IRC channel and he showed me an article saying that its possibly related to a bad boot, where i had no battery and tried to boot my device resulting in a fried SD card. This seemed likely, but then when i tried to use ANOTHER SD Card (2GB Sandisk) this one had the same issues.
Both of the SD cards work in my laptop card reader, so I no longer believe it to be a Card issue, and more a phone issue. I was able to boot into recovery and partition the SD cards, or so it said it partitioned. And then i was able to put the SD card into my computer after partitioning, putting some files on it, and then wiping it in recovery mode. All with the card still "functioning" but as soon as I boot into Android it says that the card is damaged, and the card no longer functions on my computer and I have to reformat it.
Is this a hardware issue with my G1? Or a software issue? All of the articles I have read about related problems say that it is a bad card, Which is why I am confused that a new card does not work as well.
Radio: 2.22.23.02
ROM: HTCClay's SuperFast G1 Donut v1.3.3
Umm I think its a rom issue personally. Have you tried to wipe and reflash a different rom and try it? Or even reflash the same rom after a fresh wipe. Leave sd card formatted on fat 32 let the rom boot. Let it settle down. Then if everything seems ok. Then part sd. The reason why I'm saying this first is because I've had issues like this before. But at least try this so you can start to try and cancel things out.

[Q] SD Card not being recognized

No matter what SD card I put in my phone, it says there is no SD card installed. I have tried a 2GB and 2 8GB cards. They work fine in the PC... any ideas??
Does Sprint repair phones?
It sounds like there's an issue with your Hero or when you are putting the SD Card in it is not seating correctly.
If you are rooted flash the RUU to go back to stock and take it in to the Sprint store. That's if you're under your 1 year warranty of course.
I have a similar problem. I installed a new 32 gb SDHC card in a CDMA Hero running Cryogenmod. All was working well for about 10 days, then I got an error that no SD card was found. I had the original card that was recognized, and tried to get to the Clockwork recovery, no luck. Finally, through Rom manager, (flash alternate recovery to Ramon, then back to Clockwork) I was able to boot into recovery.
I still cannot format the new SDHC card, through Recovery, Windows 7, or the Panasonic program listed above. The Windows format option sees the card as a FAT 121mb card, so does the above program. Is this new card toast? It came with a lifetime warranty from Kingston, but I am mad that it did not make 2 weeks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Craig
I had a card that I bought from Costco that did the same thing. I exchanged it and haven't had any problems since.

Try making a back up of the data on your sd then on your phone go into settings and choose SD card and phone storage scroll down to format SDcard when it's done it should recognize it if not then reboot and it should work hope it does good luck

[Q] I/O errors with cm7 on sd card

I followed the instructions to put cm7 on a sd card and everything installed and worked well but things loaded a little slow. I bought a couple sandisk class 4 cards for mine and a friends nook because those are supposed to be better. well I cant get it to work now! the old card still works but when i insert the new sandisk and the penguin starts loading i get a bunch of i/o errors and the cm7 logo ends up looping and never loads up. ive searched for a while. any help is appreciated.
Sounds like your card got corrupted for some reason. Consider flashing a nandroid and just redoing everything.
thanks for the reply. I dont quite know what that advice means. haha
well, that means, if you have backed up your card somehow, you're going to have to reinstall everything and flash back your entire system.
Considering that you are on a SD card system, there are only 2 ways you could have done this back up, 1 is a full on image via winimage or made a backup (nandroid) of your system+data. The nandroid or backup made by cwm would have to be written to your fake "sd" card after you remake your bootable cm7, then you could reinstall that information, provided that you have backed up what's on your "fake" sd, you can just copy that back over.
I still have a working bootable sd card with nightly 102 on it. I tried 2 new sandisk cards and get the i/o errors. ive tried formatting and redoing the new cards at least a dozen times. using winimage and whatever that other one is called windisk32 or whatever. very confused as to why its not working and where to go from here.
Oh, that's odd. I wish I had a solution for you. At this point, it almost sounds like it's an hardware issue as opposed to your software/sd cards.
You got a friend with a nook color you can test your cards out on? If they work on his nook, maybe your reader is messed up, dust/water/etc?'
Sorry, not of much help at this point.
its really weird. they wont work on the other nook either. but the old one does. is there a best way to format an sd card? when I couldnt get them to work initially i started messing with the partitions in disk management. i generally just use the nook to format them.
Well, get easeus partition manager and collapse them all, so a slow format and then try to write the image.
I was able to load everything onto another card. neither sandisk worked... crazy talk.
Well, I think we've established that it's probably how you're writing to your sd cards.
So assuming your software is good (md5 checksums match), then it's a matter of hardware.
2 suggestions, use another computer and try to burn on that.
Use a different microSD reader/writing device (do you use a usb device or is it built in or is it a SD card that you slip the micro one into?)
