Can't Download Some Apps to Rooted Phone? - myTouch 3G, Magic Apps and Games

Is that true? It seems to be the way on my Rogers Magic with hofo rom. Let me know thanx...

specify which apps

It looks like only Colordict so far. Do you have that one?

Whatever, it seems to work now. Don't know what happened there. Kill this thread.

Can I guess and say u were downloading multiple apps when colordict was only one that took ages to start its download?

No I was only trying Colordict and it kept saying "download unsuccessful." I'm just happy it works now. I was getting scared.

I am having the same problem. I purchased Bloo and I can't download it...

i went to an older version of hofo rom and it didn't work at first but then i rebooted and it worked again. so i'm gonna go back to the most recent hofo and see what happens...

tried it again on newest hofo and it won't download again. this time i tried with chris farley soundboard and it said "download unsuccessful"
it seems that anything that shows up as "protected" in the app, appmanager, cannot be downloaded. that's why i thought it was a root thing... but it seems to work on older hofo roms...

New Market

Is there any tmobile customer who actually likes this new market layout? Tmobile has replaced the "downloads" button with a "tmobile recommended apps" button. Not only is that self-righteous and gay, but all the apps there seem completely random besides the tmobile apps. Wtf.
Is there a way to push a non-tmobile version of market? Im not sure, but i dont think this is the new version 1.71. Mine still shows as 1.66. If anyone has 1.71 please post it here. Id rather have an updated market app than this gay ass layout change. Thanks.
I have v1.66 as well, and no I do not like the market.
I have never liked the market.
Category layouts are dumb.
People search the market in 3 ways.
They either know exactly what they want... Search Program Name
They know the type of thing they want... Search "program does this.."
Or they go window shopping. Scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll...etc
The F*ing scrolling is driving me crazy! By scrolling through a huge list, I never remember where I was, and I have to constantly start over.
I want to be able to see what apps were uploaded each day. That way I can search a given day and know that there are no apps that I like for that time period.
Hmm what did the Dev's throw out yesterday....Oh cool! aw crap. Neat!
I stopped looking at their "recommendations" a long time ago.
I don't care what they think I might want. I sure as hell don't want My Account which has been listed as a #1 app since it came out.
For more experienced users..The F*ing program doesn't do anything that logging into your account, or using one of 20 other programs doesn't already do. Like I need ANOTHER battery monitor!
I just found a market app that might be better. Called My Market by Chris Hager- allows multiple filters, recommendations based on users comments, and you can bookmark items. Let you know how it goes.
OK this is one of those programs that you find once in a while that are the "OMG Why isn't this standard." type of thing.
It does have a little problem staying connected to the market server when I am using it, but....
I can scroll through all the apps in the market, bookmarking any apps that look interesting, and "Removing" ones that are not. (removing just hides them in a folder called "Removed")
I can mark an app as "recommended", not star'd like the market, but just a flag saying that I liked the program.
I can also email the market link for an app to someone from inside the program.
You do have to open the market to DL though which is kinda annoying, but the fact I can sort through stuff makes it totally worth it.
Yea i gotta say mymarket is pretty cool. Only thing that bugs me is that it looks like the old market from 1.1. Thanks for the suggestion.
So 1.71 is the market from 2.0?
I also noticed that apps I have installed originally from the market and later uninstalled due to a wipe or whatever. Then reinstalled from SdCard are now showing up as updates available. Would of been ok, however I have two apps I simply do not want to update and its annoying the heck out of me because I now have to look at them everytime I goto the market.
How did this Market update happen? I don't remember updating it or was it forced or a forced layout change or something?
Looks like you can go into Settings > Manage Applications > Market
Uninstall Market upgrade. Of course how long before that comes back.
I think this is the market you guys are talking about.
http://www.mymarket.cc/
I noticed in the /data/data/ folder there is two listings for the market. One being an upgrade and one being the regular.

Apparently it takes less than a day to come back. I uninstalled the T-market yesterday morning before work and it was back before the end of my work day. This kind of sucks. All their "update" did was make me have to use the physical menu button to check my downloads for updates. More time wasted and more wear on my menu button. Thanks T-Mobile.
I went into /system/apps and deleted the vending updater program. Also uninstalled the "update" to the market. Not having any trouble now. Was having a ton of trouble with stuff not install after downloading. The update hasn't come back yet either, so so far so good.
After my uninstall I haven't seen it come back as of yet.
Yeah the market app is kinda screwy lately. Literally last night before I went to sleep I was using it to download something.
I wake up today in the morning and it's completely gone I have never had that happen before.
Lets see if it comes back on its own through out the day hehe.
Honestly I really hope it's my rom doing something screwy though cause I would hate knowing that they can take off an app off my phone when ever they want just like that. WTF you know.

How did you uninstall the update? I just went to settings>applications>manage applications>Market--uninstall updates. I may try Gilliland12's method but I don't know what else that method may effect.
sxfx:
Many people seem to be having problems with the market on Cyanogen's latest. I always wipe and do a full install and I don't use a2sd, compcache or swap and I've had few to no problems with his ROM's (just some random reboots on one of the older versions).

Yeah Iv been using Cyan for as long as I can remember. I do use a2sd, and some swap nothing major.
But I don't seem to have 99% of the problems everyone else is having heh.
Just a glitch here or there but nothing I cant really figure out.
This market thing really just happened recently when tmo started screwing with it. I guess we will see what happens in the next few days .
Supposedly there is a really nice updated coming from Cyan sometime soon. ..

1) You have posted in the wrong forum.
2) Market works fine in 2.2 unless you flashed one of the pre-release builds.
The sticky at the top of the N1 gen forum tells you in bold NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS.
Ask them in the Q/A section. Gen section is for news, tips only...

I'm having the same, or very similar problems. Basically, I'm seeing paid apps, and my purchases, but I'm not seeing the "Top Paid" tab, nor is the Market acting in any sane or rational way. For example, I install an app, and the notification bar will say downloading, then installing, then the notification that it installed. In the Market download window, though, I see it download, then switch to installing, but never get beyond that.
What started all this with me was this. Using Linda File Manager, I uninstalled a couple of apps (was trying out the feature since I was in there). In this case, it was Google Earth (don't really use it), and a Pirate game that I never grocked. Anyway, in the Market they wouldn't leave my list in the Downloads, so I wiped the cache and data in the Market app in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
After that, all my apps appeared as uninstalled in the downloads window, and the issue with installation started. First thing I did was try and reinstall all the apps, and ended up with a huge list of apps that were installed, but were marked as still installing by the market. Killing the market app cleared out the hung install progress bars. The other thing that started happening was that not all of my installed apps appeared in my download list. KO Boxing, for example was on the featured list as upgradable, but it wasn't in my download list to upgrade.
Ultimately, what I decided to do was wipe the phone and see what happened. After wipe, I logged in and FRF91 didn't restore my apps like it had in the past. In fact, the market was exactly the same as it was before the wipe, with all my apps showing as free or purchased. Installing issue was also the same. Now, I know that Google backs up the settings, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. I wiped again, but in the configuration process post-wipe, I selected for Google to not restore from backup (hit menu in the setup when you are entering your username/password). This brought me through the process much quicker, but with no change in the market function.
So, I'm still without a "Top Paid" tab, nor with a all together sane Download window. It's frustrating the heck out of me, and I'm about to go back to whatever the 2.1-r1 release was (ERE27?) and see if that makes any different.
The ROM I'm running is the FRF91 full release from lox_dev:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715799
If T-Mobile is doing the OTA's to FroYo from 2.1-r1, then maybe I'll let it do it's own thing today and then see if that fixes it. Ugh.

The above snipped sections are my story too.
Updated last week manually from ERE27 to FRF85b to FRF91 using the official stock clients each time. Non rooted N1. I spent 6 hours on Friday night trying to sort this..
I've got posts up on the Google Nexus One forums also and am holding where I am for a definitive fix. It's very frustrating though..
Go to menu>applications> magage applications> all apps> market then force quit and clear data and whatever else is in there.

I tried that on Friday night. Once I'd done that, none of my installed apps showed in the Downloads section.
That's why I did a full wipe and set the phone back up. Luckily I was still able to find all my apps, including the purchased ones. However the missing 'Top Paid' button and slow market performance persisted.
So, for fun, I pushed back to ERE27 (2.1-r1) and same issue. No "Top Paid" in the Market, and issues with installation. This is complete wipe, nothing installed on the phone after imaging.
I let it upgrade to FRF91, which didn't change anything. I'm now pretty convinced that whatever this is is completely account related on the Google server side of things, and it needs to be sorted out by them
Guess I'll have to figure out who to contact for support from Google :/

Please can you keep this thread updated with your progress and I'll do the same.

I've made contact with Google via email and this is now being investigated.
I'm sending them a summary of the problems I've been having and pointing them at various threads both here and in the Market so that they can see how widespread this problem is.
I've also tried a full hard reset and cache wipe without luck. My belief is that this is something that Google need to sort server-side, so I'm done with my wiping and reinstalling for now...

Looks like this has now been fixed server-side.
I got my 'Top Paid' tab back this morning - Yay!

[Q] Reinstalling the market update

So I had a few apps get the infinite Installing Android Market bug thanks to a wireless router dying at a bad time. The only thing that worked short of doing a factory reset was to uninstall the market update.
So my question is how do I get the Market update to reinstall?
Thanks
(Not rooted, stock ROM)
Uninstall application, then reinstall. Just a hunch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Were it only so simple. The 2.2 market enchancements were a silent upgrade, so there's no market link. And beyond that, the Market no long appears up on the manage Applications list in the system settings.
I've been having the same issues as well, very frustrating! I've been searching here and good ol' google on how to get that update back...to no avail yet.
Did you ever get any success?
Pulled this. See if it works for you.
Thanks
Trying to side load it now, but I can't seem to get droid explorer to work. sigh.....
It connects to the phone fine, but then when I go to install the package, it gives me a new window that wants to install something. I don't really remember that window coming up in the past, but to be honest it's been quite awhile since I've used droidexplorer... So I click isntall, and the program immediately crashes.
So, I put the file on my web server, and downloaded it from there. (Got some annoying lovely messages about the phone being out of space until I cleared the browser download list....) It downloaded fine, but when I go to install it, I get "Parse Error There is a problem parsing the package."
On an odd hunch, I started poking around the file structure in DroidExplorer, and was able to pull my own MarketUpdater.apk out and save it to the computer. So I threw that on the webserver, and was able to download it fine, AND re-install it. No idea if that will actually DO anything, but hey, figured it was worth a shot.
So now that I've waited 15 minutes after reinstalling the marketupdater.apk, (big surprise) nothing's changed.
EDIT:
Went to grab a sandwich for lunch, and decided to pop into the ATT store since it was right next to where I was eating. Asked one of the reps that I have a pretty good relationship with about the issue, and he said a customer came in not too long ago with the same issue, and the only resolution was a system wipe. Hopefully we can get around it...Of course, if not, and I do have to do a wipe, I'll just upgrade to 2.2....

[Q] Can't download any from market

I have rooted captivate. since yesterday I can't download or update anything from market. It keeps saying 'starting downloads' and happens nothing. Even sometimes it says your item will be downloaded but again happens nothing.
I use black market too. Does it make my 'market' fail now? I don't have a clue...please help me.

Make sure the Google Talk services are running.
Steps to try:
1) Clear market data, retry downloads.
2) Depending on the rom you are on, Froyo build, you may not have a unique Android ID. If this is the case, download Android ID Changer and change the ID to something other than seen. Next time you flash stock, get your unique Android ID and write it down so you can use in the future.
Good luck.
I didn't get Froyo yet, and I just rooted in order to get the permission of installing apps freely. so I didn't do anything with roms. And I realized that Google talk is not working. I never played that app becuase I'm using kakaotalk. It says signing in...but nothing happens. How can I erase maket data then. I think I should have study more before rooting. How does goolge talk running related to market?

Both the market and Google talk use this service called
Google Talk Service (or something like that)
If you use a program that blocks startup programs make sure both google talk and its service are greenlisted. In addition try to stop using any task killers to see if that is the problem.
And the massage "Sorry! The process com.google.process. gapps has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." comes out from time to time with 'force close' button.
What does it mean?

I think it is tied to GMail sync which is also tied to the Google Talk service I believe.
I uninstalled apps have chances auto killing that process. They are one click lag, auto killer memory, but nothing changed after rebooting. Even the same error message came out as soon as rebooted. The odd thing is that that task is still running when i check with android hackers. How can I control the start up apps?

Oh my Gosh!! I love XDA developers friends!! Thanks diablo, nbs !! I just found out other thread with same issue and fixed beautifully my captivate.
Here is what I did. I downloaded google talk services apps from here, and copy them to systems/app, and reboot. They are automatically downloading all the accumulated failed downloading after rebooting. I might have deleted some gtalk related apps by mistake. Hooray!!
Thanks all!!

[Q] Flash stopped working with Xscope

Hi,
I've been using Xscope for a couple of weeks, and really like it. Everything was working with it, including Flash, until today.
Today, when I try to access any webpages with Flash content, instead of the flash content, I get black boxes in those areas.
I've tried resetting Xscope to default, and also uninstalled it and re-installed it, but still no flash.
I also have tested with the default browser and Dolphin mini, and flash still works with those two other browsers, but I'd really like to have flash working with Xscope again.
Has anyone encountered this problem, or does any know how to fix it?
Thanks,
Jim

Running stock, not rooted.
Same here, on all my browsers actually. I reinstalled the .apk and it appears to be working on stock and xcsope now. I wonder why it stopped in the first place?

Tried that. Still no good in xScope.
Reinstall Flash then you need to kill xscope in task manager or force close it in settings->applications to force it to restart.

Question here: I am new at xScope, but isn't closing xScope from the "OFF" button on its toolbar enough to shut it down and then it will restart the next time you use it?
No, you will need to close it completely as turning it off will keep the browsers caches for files like "flash" open.
When all else fails... reboot.

Okay, I've never seen that nor heard anybody else report this issue. So no ideas here, sorry. Maybe clear all data for xScope, assuming you don't have anything too important in there? You can always back up the app data in Titanium Backup first, then try that to see if it helps...
Hi,
Can you all check what Xscope version you have? I didn't note the version I originally installed, but I'm wondering if an update was somehow applied. Current version on my Gtab shows 6.37. *I tried to contact the developer, but no response, plus their forum has only spam for last couple of weeks ...
Also, I don't know if I'm imagining, but xscope seems a little slower loading pages since the same time...

Thanks for checking... Since you're on 6.21, and it was working before, it's probably not a problem with an update ...

It looks like I am getting somewhere:
Using xScope I went to the Staples site and tapped the "Load Flash Arrow". The Flash box turned black.
I tapped the Menu soft key (which removed the tab bar at the top and the command bar at the bottom). The Flash box displayed properly.
I tapped the Menu soft key again (which brought back the Tab bar at the top and the command bar at the bottom). The Flash box turned all black.
This behavior appears to be consistent on several sites with Flash.
Wow! You're right, and it does that even with the 'on' setting.
Why would this have changed from before?
