I'm about to do the same thing as you. But as far as I know I'm going to do it this way:
* With HardSPL flash Swedish R2 ROM : ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/ROMs/X1i_GENERIC_SE_CDF1215-3315_KOV_R2AA006.rar
* With HardSPL flash 1.11.25.71 radio : ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/RADIOs/XPERIA_Radio_1.11.25.71.rar
* Restore to StockSPL : Read end of first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218
* Run Sony Ericsson Update Service
* Send it to service
Don't know if it's really necessary to flash the radio.
I have issues with the hardware keyboard, that's why I'm about to send it in!

no it's not - the radio is inside the stock rom you just have to flash the stock spl and then you can go for the se update service!

Of course you can, just download a WM5 based rom from your mobile provider and run the flash process by double clicking on the file you have downloaded you do not need any special procedures...
got it tnx dude
got maybe a wm5 rom?
look to the web sites of the provider from where your device comes from. search in the support sites for ROM-, Firmware- or Software updates. check the update informations: the exakt file should be a ROM- or firmeware update

does flashing a ROM makes you loose warranty?

Maybe an obvious thing for an expert eye, but I cannot find this information easily.
I just bought a new X1, and would like to flash it with Touch-IT 4.5. However, one precondition to do it would be to HardSPL-it, so that I can change the ROM with the Touch-IT.
On the HardSPL thread I saw information about how to return the original SPL on the phone for warranty purposes.
Does this mean that by changing the ROM that I loose warranty on my new phone?
Thank you!

It seems easy to return to a stock ROM and the stock SPL though. I'm about to flash TouchIT myself and am a little nervous, but I keep reading everything over and over again and it is easing my tensions.
No
It won't void your warranty as long as you are smart enough to put the stock SPL and ROM back before sending for warranty repair.
The MOST important thing is to remember when going back to stock. STOCK ROM FIRST, THEN STOCK SPL.
Oh, and it's spelt "lose".
Thank you both!
Final question...do you both relay on the stock spl and stock rom downloadable from the forums, or do you keep your own backup or something similar for warranty purposes?

best one is to dump your own rom (read the sticky about that one)
but you could ofcourse always use one from the forum..
stock spl is on every device the same so you could just download that one
Nah
Stock from the forum is just fine. As long as you get the correct region and carrier (or just generic) you can't go wrong, and the SPL is the same as stated.
ok, thnx
ill try it, keep your fingers crossed!
How to find the Stock SPL ? What is it exactly ?
The rom are stick on the forum but the stock spl ?
How extract stock spl from a new phone ?
Thanks
As I understood it (please someone correct me if I am wrong), you don't extract it...there is a download on the end of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218
and a process which describes how to use it...it doesn't sound complicated.
I am just not sure, in the thread it mentions that you first need to restore the original ROM (there is a thread also with original ROM's, and judging by the version and stuff the one there is the one which I currently have)...but they also mention restoring RADIO.
What is exactly radio? is it like a radio radio (so listen to tunes, shows stuff...or something else??) and why would I restore that or not?

Judging by the version of the generic one in my phone (ver. R2AA006, cust. id 1215-1832, cust. ver. R20A, cust. var. GENERIC_UK, content ver. PA10) the one which is downloadable from the thread with stock ROM's is fine.
I am just not sure about the region and carrier? What are these? Where should they be adjusted/used/set?

I took the phone to be repaired (cracks...) for two times, and for two times I switched back from Touch-it to stock ROM and stock SPL.
The repair guys always repaired the phone under warranty, therefore:
1) Flashing a ROM does NOT lose warranty or, most likely
2) restoring stock ROM and SPL makes the phone modification unnoticeable.
Kind regards

Help Restoring Xperia to Original

I just got a used xperia and i want everything back to original.
it has been hard spl which i think is preventing me from being able to update using ericsson update service.
It also has touch-it xperiance, which i effectively removed from the today menu, but the remnants of it are everywhere. I think its from the manila hd cab but im not sure.
the dialer is still tf3d, so are the notifications, as well as comm manager and im not sure what else
i dont want to hard reset because of all the other settings i put on widows mobile
i guess i probably need to remove tf3d and its cronies, re establish the original xperia user interface (touch-it xperiance 6.1 still shows up on startup), and put in the original spl which i can kind of figure out from previous threads but i need help with tf3d cause i dont want to screw up my phone!!!
thank you....

Please look around in this subforum or use the search. I think you're the third person in two weeks who asks this question.
To help answer your question:
If you can connect to SE update service and update from there, you will flash the latest official rom. That means that all stuff on the device (not on the sd-card) will be gone anyway. You can do a hard reset, which has the same effect but will restore the rom that was last flashed.
If you want to use an official rom, you have to flash stock spl. You can find that in the hard-spl thread (one of the sticky topics in the top of this forum).
Another way to obtain an official rom is to look in the rom library (also a sticky in this subforum), and look for the R3A rom you want. You probably want one with a specific language and maybe even a provider. Just look around in the R3A rom list to see which suits you best.
having the touch it xperience means you do not hav a stock rom
so you must flash a stock rom if you want it stock
look in the official rom thread, don't waste your time with SE update!
also if you flash a rom you must hard-reset anyway!
To go back to original, you need to follow these steps:
1) Download the stock rom for your country from the same forum, usually it's the Generic_UK.
2) Flash this stock rom to your mobile (this will clear all your settings and remove all data). IMPORTANT: Before doing this step, download PPCPIMBackup tool and backup all your data using this tool.
Additionally, you may have to restore your stock radio(not FM radio) BEFORE proceeding to Step 3 if it has been modified, search the forum on how to identify and do this.
3) Download the Hardspl utility and the stock rom's "ruu_signed.nbh". You'll find both in the Hardspl sticky post here. Connect your phone and run Hardspl, but before clicking "Next" in the first step, replace the "ruu_signed.nbh" in Hardspl's folder with the stock one you downloaded. Now continue hardspl and your stock SPL will be restored. IMPORTANT: Make sure you don't have a file named "Kovsimg.nbh" in your memory card before you do this or else it may not work.
Now you're done restoring everything to original. If you just want the stock OS, but wanna keep the hard spl for later modification to rom then you can skip Step 3. But unless you do Step 3, you will not be able to use the SE update service and any remaining warranty you have is still void.
NOTE: Make sure you restore stock OS and stock radio(not FM radio) before stock SPL, that is do Step2 before Step3.
Summary of things you need:
1) PPCPIMBackup tool to backup all your data.
2) Stock ROM(OS) for your mobile, additionaly the stock radio.
3) Hardspl utility and the stock spl file - you can skip this if not needed.
stock radio is included with stock roms!

Glad it helped you. When I first came to this forum, I was confused too. Then I figured it out. Well.. I think the radio here refers to the transmitter. Radios might differ based on country as different countries have different bands on which the mobile operators work. I think the radio referred here is just the driver file which makes the transmitter in the phone work.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I searched but never found any topic that explains what an xperia radio is. I'm assuming what I thought is correct.

To further clarify, it's the PHONE transmitter, the one that lets you call and send messages and go on the internet. It is not an FM transmitter or receiver.
Is there any difference if you have a X1i or X1a when flashing any of the original ROMs in the sticky topics here?

when you found the rom, flash SPL back to original, than it should be possible to connect the phone with SEUS (at my phone atleast).

Hi all...
I own a community in one social network, and i'm responsible for bringing them solutions, my doubt is: if i revert the x1 to the original rom and SPL, will I still be able to hardSPL it again to use custom roms again or is there any problem?

As I have understood, first you have a "virgin" phone:
1) Stock ROM, stock SPL - can only flash Stock ROM
2) Flash HardSPL - after that can flash any ROM
If you need to bring it back to SE:
1) Flash stock ROM
2) Flash stock SPL - it is important to do it in that order, first back to Stock ROM, then back to stock SPL.
After getting your phone back from repairs:
1) You can flash HardSPL again, to be able to flash any ROM (both custom and stock)
ok thanks, if there is any problem i'll do this...

It happened to me once.
Regarding you have "manila version 2.5.20113030.0" and your OS version, you have a custom ROM installed, and this means also you have HSPL installed in your device.
To get your device recognized by SE update service, you have to flash a *stock* ROM, and also a stock SPL.
After doing these two steps, your device will be recognized.
You must be familiar with flashing ROMs, and you should search the whole forum for stock ROMs and SPL, before attempting to flash anything..(I'm not responsible for any damage)
As a suggestion, refer to this thread for a detailed info on the subject
and also this thread for Stock SPL (see "extra how to: how to restore Stock SPL for warranty reasons." section)

sorry for late reply... but can u thread me to stock rom and stock spl plzzz....
Unfortunately, the Xperia X1 is now an old device, and the links to its stock items are rare and not working any more.
I managed to find links for the stock ROM (Generic UK WWE, latest version provided by SE which is R3A)
Here it is:
Part 1
Part 2
After you download the two parts, rename the file extension from .image to .nbh, and if you are using the SD card method, rename the file to kovsimg.nbh
Be sure to read about flashing ROMs and changing the SPL, if you did it the wrong way you may damage your device.
thanx i'll try and tell u soon...
