Help I bought a 3600 mah battery from ebay. But its life span its still the same from the default one i have.Do I need to upgrade it.pls help
this is not a matter of upgrading, this actually belongs in the accessories section, but never the less...
maybe your charger just does not charge it beyond the point of 1500mAh and that is why you have the same life-span, do you charge the device over usb or the charging cable? have you tried the battery in the back of the cradle (if it fits)? maybe you need a wall charger for the battery, have a look in the accessories section, probably you find your answers there.

thank you by the way i charge in charging cable it because does not fit in the cradle

I don't have a Dopod but an x7500/Advantage and I don't have this problem with the battery. Are you using the supplied wall charger or trying to charge via USB through a computer or other low power source?

external battery links for Athena...
Here are a couple links (keep in mind I haven't tried any of these):

http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=118661
Hope this is what you're looking for. The first one is a 5400mAh external battery. Sounds like it'll last a long time on the Athena since the factory battery is only 2200mAh.

Sorry but I've never seen one for the Athena. Maybe I just haven't run into one or the device is too new for these to be out already. If you find one please post it here for the rest of us. Also, please no more double posting.

Here is the charger:

That's just for the battery. I think the original post is looking for a docking cradle for the Athena itself, and IIRC HTC were planning on launching such a device, with a fairly high cost.

i was looking at portable battery chargers to use for my tilt, anyone out there taken a look at the energizer mini usb battery charger? here's a link to bestbuy.com page on it. if anyone has any info it'd be greatly appreciated.

sorry guys, i missed the review that another member did...i only searched the kaiser forum instead of all forums
here's his review http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365757&highlight=energizer+charger
i like to use radioshacks igo
http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...SK/00001500/00001999&kw=igo&parentPage=search
i bought it for 20 bucks and and extra 10 for the tips..but i like about it mainly is that they have tips for almost everything...so this portable charger is very versatile.. but i barely use mine tho =\
I have used the Energizer version (emergency purchase from QFC at 11PM! ) and it worked like a champ!
The Lithium batteries charged me up to about 40% in the hour it took to drive home, with the phone on and also making a single 5 minute call. All-in-all I was impressed.
i'd use the lenmar ppu2100b...2100mah on it and very portable...u can charge it via usb or the tilts own ac adapter. if u want something smaller there's the lenmar ppumini with 750mah. those two are probably the most "elegant" options out there. check the reviews...
oh...and the other benefit is that it charges pretty fast...inbetween an ac and a usb connection...ime the aa battery chargers charge slllooowwww
I tried the energiser charger, it wound up burning out my battery, and destroying my mini USB port. I recommend you stay away from it for everyday use, only for emergency.
I know there are some desktop cradles that also feature a 2nd battery charging cradle, but I'm surprised that HTC sell aditional batteries but no official charger to charge them while using your other battery in the phone ? Anyone seen a good one that is reliable?
Hi.
I have this ome and It´s ok

I have seen them on ebay, to me they look like the kind of thing you would use to charge a second battery if you had one.

Yep it is. Just wondering if anyone had tried it.
Looks like a generic charger which you set the size to fit your phone's battery
I just purchased one. I had to buy it as i am in need of a charging cable (lost mine). If anyone has a spare charging cable i would gladly pay it as long as they will ship it registered mail to canada
in the meantime does anyone know what pins are postive and negative on the battery?
Chargers off Ebay
I got one off Ebay and it is working but it is extremely slow! It is a MyBat brand and you see tons of videos on you tube, but it is taking almost 48 hours to charge it to 100%. Can anyone confirm this 3G brand is any faster? Or can someone who has an Ebay account buy one and list a charger cable lol, I use mine for two to three days then I have to charge it two days. Please help and any input would be greatly appreciated!

Email from seller
Hi guys,
I bought the same charger and asked which one of the two metal prongs is positive and which one is negative and if the seller knows which contact on the battery is positive/negative.
Apparently the charger can automatically switch polarity...
I've also noticed on the label that the charger has 600mA through the USB port and 400mA through the mains. That's why it's really slow I reckon...
Anyway, here's their response:
You can use the charger by following instruction:
Features and Functions Guide of the charger
for Dell Streak
Standard of the electrical
? Electric current of import: 110V-220V 50/60 HZ 0.1A
? Electric potential of battery charger: 4.2V-5.0V
? Electric current of battery charger:400MA
? Electric potential and current of USB charger: 5.0V-5.2V 600MA
Instruction
? The contacts of the charger can move, you can charge many different styles of battery according to the contacts of the battery.
? You also can adjust the length of the charger according to your battery, the maximum length is 2.95 inch, the minimum length is 0.67 inch. But you should do it gently, or the charge will be damaged.
? The battery for Motorola Droid A855 has 4 contacts, you should use the outsider contacts. And the charger can adjust Polarity automatically in order to fit for the polarity of the battery.
? When the charger is working, the light is pink, when the charger finishes charging, the light turns into blue. And the battery can not be charged for a long time, please pay attention to the light.
? The battery should charge the battery for 10-14 hours in the first three times, and later you should charge the battery for more than 8 hours. Then you can activate the capacity of the battery.
? The USB charger can charge your phone with a suitable USB cable. When you use the battery charger and the USB charger at the same time, the charger will let the USB charger first. The light is blue, after the USB charger finishes its charge, the battery charger will work, and the light is pink.
Warning
? Please do not take out the battery when the charger connects to power supply, or, you will hurt yourself, the battery will be damaged.
? Please do not knock down the item on purpose.
? Please do not let the charger be damped or be exposed in the water.

Thanks mate. So have you had any success in charging with your charger?
Its slow but it works. Took about 30hours to charge my battery.
Its only 400mA. 1000mA is preference when charging our batteries.

Yes, it seems to work fine, although so far I have only used it on a partly charged (~80%) battery.
The charger that I received works off the mains (110-250V at 50 or 60Hz).
It delivers 4.2V at 350mA (+/-50mA) to the battery. However, the battery is under no load, whereas when you charge a battery in situ in the Dell Streak there will be a drain on the battery while it's charging (depending on whether the display/GPS/wifi etc is switched on).
The charger also has a USB output (5.2V at 800mA).
Given the price, I would expect all the voltages and currents to be nominal (although to be fair the build quality is good enough).
Hi I just bought the 3G commerce one the one on ebay but got it at a local chinese/electronic store, the plate that is used to hold the battery against the two pins has to be stretched almost all the way out, feels like it will break the inner spring, probably wont at least I hope so. I have yet to charge my battery with this charger but will do it tonight and see how that goes.
I usually charge my battery with a blackberry desktop charger I had to mod the hell out of it so it could fit the streak battery, and that charger i believe is 4.2v 350ma and charges the battery from 2% to 100% in a little less than 4.5 hours. We use 110v AC for main juice.
When using this "generic" chargers ALWAYS make sure it is a Li-Ion/Poly charger.
You can start a fire if you don't use a proper charger. I will point this out as much as possible
solar charger / dell streak / recharger / battery
why not use a solar charger, i bought one from here ( i am not making an ad, just saying what has worked for me for your sake)
apparently i cant post links yet, just go to gkitshop, look up a 2600mAH solar charger
have a good life

Sorry, I didn't quite understand the question, but from the link you provided - that's a wall charger where you can either plugin a battery directly or attach USB cable to connect your phone for charging.
I would not recommend using usb ports from your PC or laptop because they typically output very low current, close to 350 mA and it will take you a VERY LONG time to charge a phone or external battery, etc.
Hi.
I would like to find some thing to charge my anker 3100mah and my stock samsung battery with usb port from my PC, not with wall charge even if it take long time because i will put it on the night or maybe all the day (about 8 or 10h)
I will use one while the other will be in charge on the usb port

oh, I see. You can use one of the chargers from my other review: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249269 or use this charger: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Desktop...25687?pt=Battery_Chargers&hash=item564ff1abd7
I see now that you want it to be plugged into your PC rather than wall. So you need DC charger, not AC charger. Those 2 above will do what you are looking for.
Thank you very much !

This has a 700mAh wall charger. But does have an USB cable. Will charge much slower on the low amps of computer USB ports. Does come with battery.

It's my bed room. I prefer put in my PC for some reason, position etc..
You sacrificing many many mA for position? Why not just buy a longer cord for the wall charger?

No worry like i said before, i just put in charge all the night or all the day in order to switch every day or night. It may take 8 or 10h, i don't really care because i switch with the other battery which can hold the day while the other is in charge.
And i don't want to overcharge by wall charge, the less mA there are, the less i damage the battery with long charge no ?
You are being just so silly. Just use a longer cord. That will solve the problem. Don't be like one of those crazy ladies that as to have it this or that way for some nonsense reasons, like home fashion, that is just the way it was setup, the cluttered look from the cord would drive me crazy, or something else like that.
There is circuitry that protects the batteries from overcharging. So don't worry about overcharging the batteries.
In fact the more that you keep the batteries charged the longer the batteries will last. The batteries lifespan is about the amount of full charge cycles. Say the battery is still 75% charged then you start charging to 100% (that is 25% total charging). That is not a full charge cycle. That is only 25% of a full charge cycle. Say the next time the battery shows only 25% charged this time. Then you charged again to 100% (that is 75% total charging). 25+75=100 The total of the two charges equal to 1 full charge cycle. As you see, if you keep the batteries charged then the batteries will lasts longer.
All batteries also have a shelf lifespan. That has nothing to do with charging or not charging the batteries. That has to do with the lifespan of the materials of the battery. This is completely different from charging practices to keep the battery good for longer periods of time.
Modern high end rechargeable batteries now days are much different from rechargeable batteries of the past. So past best practices don't apply for today's high end rechargeable batteries.
What you are doing is the worst practices for your batteries.
The more & quicker the charging of the batteries and the more that you keep the batteries on the charger the longer you are going to keep the batteries good.
The slower the charging the more battery power may be in use to keep device or charger running. Not good at all, because that is eating into the full charging cycles that the battery has in its lifespan.
With your method 75% total charge can take another 25% of the full charge cycle just as power leakage in keeping the device or battery charger going. I told you that it takes at least 700 mAh (this is by Samsung's information on the charger alone) just to guarantee to prevent this kind of power leakage. A computer's USB port (500 mAh at most) will have much less amps than that (depend on what else is on that same USB bus line (motherboards shares some USB ports on a single bus line) (this can mean much less than 500 mAh realistically). It is guarantee that you have power leakage.Which means that your method shortens your battery's lifespan.
