Wuts good XDA-Developers Q&A
well i'd like to kno is it possible to get a better keyboard for the Hero build JacxSki v2.1 for the G1/Dream cause i was useing "HERO2 - Freedom of choice 1.5.4JAC-SKI BFS-211" and i like that keyboard but on both of these build theres no "Landscape" mode for the keyboard so can you change the keyboard layout at all or can i change it and get Landscape too some how
the onscreen keyboard (AKA HTC_IME) should be the same for both. Chances are the app you're using doesn't support auto rotation.
you mean the rom im useing doesnt support auto-rotation rite? im sure Hero does thou pretty sure it does that dam rom can do everything else

No, I mean the app you're using doesn't auto rotate.
When you say the landscape keyboard doesn't work, what do you mean?
So the app rotates, but the keyboard never opens when you tap the area for text input. A screen shot would be nice if you know how to use adb.

its pretty simple actually..like he said use GDI, then make sure u leave the screen orientation on north so that when u slide out the keyboard it stay like that..if u havn't gotten the keyboard to map.u need to disable "use virtual keypad" then go ahead nd map the keyboard..to get it to work fullscreen u will have to change the screen size option to window size..
the trick really is to make sure u slide your phone out before opening morphgear so that it picks that as your original orientation
hope this helps..took me ages to figure it out

Wow, finally a good explanation about this. Thanks ! !
has anybody figured out how to use morphgear with hardwaerre acceleration? For some games its ok but I started Secret of Mana today and the device just cant cope with it at all - its super laggish
any ideas?
i doubt morphgear can utilize the hardware acceleration on the xperia, the best u can do is turn up the frame skip..try using it @ 5..although i've found that 5 could be pretty quick for some games
do you guys know where can i get the mario rom (classic one) ?
the problem:
manila 2.5 doesn't support landscape. it supports landscape only in pictures/music and if we slide keyboard it looks ugly
the solution?
cant we disable the standard wm orientation change that messes up manila and use the sliding keyboard to emulate the original accelerometer signal instead? This wouldn't mess manila as it recognize rotation only in certain tabs as by design, like in topaz and HD
do you think that's possible with some kind of homemade driver?
up
anyone? It's that stupid?

No, I think it would be brilliant, but such a program does not exist. It may be possible to intercept the signals and do what you describe. I think if some resourceful programmer might like this feature they could take it up. I for one would be interested.
If I am wrong and such a thing exists and I have somehow overlooked it, please let me know.
The keyboard portrait/landscape mechanism is a switch (on/off) whereas an accelerometer is a varying signal.

Yea but idea is when keyboard slides out, it will send signal like you would turn your device to landscape.
I support that idea too, so i hope something like that comes.
hey dude I was checking some stuff last time and I just read about the experia so u might like to take a look how the xperia portrait or landscape is working

CHeers !!
I feel like this is a stupid question so forgive my ignorance if it is but would it be possible to create a keyboard that uses the prediction and keys of IME with the features of the stock froyo keyboard? (I mean the ability to insert ! . , ? after each word and being able to slide your finger up for additional characters)
This seems like it would be impossible but then again, this is XDA so you never know
anyway, thanks!

I know its not quite what you're looking for, but a bit of work has been done on a keyboard manager to set different keyboards for portrait and landscape mode -- its still a WIP but its promising.
Hi guys, Happy Easter! Currently I am typing from my D2, so I'm not able to search for a good fix due to slow wi-fi connection. That's why I'm asking any of you that already knows how to make my screen auto rotate. I am using windows 6.5 and I can't remember which rom, tough it's a very simple one. At this point my image won't auto rotate when moving the phone, so games like Rock Band won't work. Opera and other few programs auto rotate plus games that are made only on landscape. The problem is I can't find the auto rotate setting or program, only a setting that makes me choose landscape/portrait. I changed my whole menu to landscape and Rock Band still doesn't work. Can anyone help me?
Thank you

There is an auto rotate app here. I have not tested it so I can't confirm that it will work on your ROM.
You can also try the attached GSensor cab.
Another thing you can do use the Topaz keyboard control app and set rotate to one of your buttons.

The app must support rotation and you could also set one of your buttons on double\triple\ or long press to rotate screen left or right with the kybrd cnfg....
