Look, before you say anything, I've searched the forums, and I haven't found anything. This has been bugging me for too long, and it's getting really annoying, since I need a phone that can, you know, take calls.
Whenever anyone calls me, the phone rings three times on their side before I even get the call on my side. At that point, I have about 3 seconds to get the phone before the call goes to voicemail & I get a missed call notification. I've been looking on forums, and everything I see tells me to type in an MMI code on the Dialer, but every time I do, I get the "call forwarding connection problem or invalid mmi code" error message, which is just as annoying.
I have a suspicion that this has to do with YouMail, but I'm not sure. I can't even change my voicemail number with YouMail's instructions, because the MMI codes I type in always result in that same error message. I can change the Voicemail number from the main screen, but I can't change the forwarding numbers (When busy, when unavailable, etc) even in the G1's menus.
I'm running CyanogenMod firmware 4.1.9.2, but it's been bugging me like this since CyanogenMod firmware 4.0.4 was on my phone. Does anyone have any solutions? And please, don't tell me to search the forums. I absolutely hate that. I've searched the forums, and I can't find anything. Literally, nothing shows up. If you know there's a thread that's solved this, don't tell me to find it, just link it here.
First step would be to eliminate apps and skins. If you can I would do a backup of what you need and wipe and flash a firmware.
There have been several complaints about this issue. There are a few threads about this and possible solutions. They are in the rom dev section. One way that might help is to move ring tones back to /system/media/audio. When they are on the sd, they seem to delay. Another thing is to set it to ring and vib. Vibrate always starts on first ring. Atleast, it will vibrate and then ring and vibrate. Better that a total delay. But moving ringtones to system helps alot. That should help a bit... good luck
Er, how dp I do that? It doesn't work in ASTRO, and both adb push and cp from the terminal give a read only error.
The easiest thing to do would be to get root explorer and move them that way (since you can mount /system with it) or go to recovery console and type
Code:
mount system
mount sdcard
cp [dir in sdcard] [dir in system]
reboot
Sorry for the crappiness of the code but i am using my phone to post.

Yeah, I know that irrates you
also search for miketaylor00 on the forums. in his sig is a link to a script he wrote which will give priority to the phone components to speed up ring times. His script is included in the JAC builds

I have this problem:
this was quoted from Howardforums.
I have realized after numerous missed calls and calling the wrong people that there are 2 inherent problems with the myFaves program and WM6 (Wing specifically).
Problem #1
If you have chosen to hide the myFaves icons from the today screen, then when you miss a call from one of the people that you have assigned as a myFave you will have no notification whatsoever. That is, no flashing light, no sound, no vibrate, and NO MESSAGE notification. No matter the settings in “Sounds & Notifications”
This is just ridiculous. My wife always complained that I would never call her back when she tried to call me at work, but it is because I had no idea she was calling.
Please note that this is only with contacts assigned as a myFave, everyone else that I miss a call from I get a message, light, sound, vibrate, etc.
Problem #2
One of my favorite features of any cell phone is the ability to quickly redial the last person that you called or the last person that called you. I use this feature all the time to quickly call back the person listed as my “Last Call”.
What I am talking about is when you hit the green phone button (hard button) and you get the numpad with the “Last Call” listed near the top left corner. Then you hit the button a second time to call that person. So it is essentially the ability to quickly hit the green button twice and redial that person.
If the “Last Call” is a contact assigned as a myFave, this feature does not work. Sure the name and little myFave logo will appear under “Last Call”, but the person that it will dial will be the last non-myFave person in your recent call history.
I absolutely hate this not working correctly. You would think that T-Mobile could do some testing before they realase software like this. But hey, what do I know…..
I use myFaves a lot, hell I almost double my allotted minutes just in myFaves calls a month. So I have to be able to take advantage of myFaves.
So my question is: Can I remove the “myFaves” application and still retain the use of myFaves through myTmobile.com?
I cannot wait till someone releases an update….
If someone could make a cab of it you could uninstall it and try. I would think they would be able to keep track of who your faves were for billing purposes independent of your phone settings. I never had myfaves and the app never installed on my wing, but its a pretty darn important feature for those who do. Hopefully there will soon be updates and rom cooking and we'll see stable non-tmobilized-crap roms out there. When I had my wizard, the cooked roms were always way more stable than the tmobile ones. It might be that running the myfaves cab on a more generic rom would clear up the bugs. Wish they'd stop delaying the RUU releases...

I'm adding this to the "call to action topic"
If you delete "List" from the registry, located in HKLM\Security\Phone\NoLog and soft reboot. Your MyFave people will show up on your call log.
T-Mobile data devices are not running myfaves well at all.
Think your Wing has myfaves problems?? Check out the Pearl.
Hopefully it can be fixed, myfaves is an awesome rateplan, and on all the regular handsets it works perfectly, just all the data devices dont like it.

I use the Touch-IT 2.3 ROM without myfaves running and notification and billing both work just fine. The myfaves app is just that, an app. It doesn't provide any special t-mo network capabilities, as that is managed as part of your account, not your phone.
Your notifications problem sounds like some kind of corruption of settings rather than a problem with myfaves; did the suggestion below related to "list" help at all?

its not corruption because i had the exact same problems and numerous amounts of others have said the same thing. I disabled the myfaves app and i can still call those same 5 people and wont be billed for it and i can change the 5 my going through mytmobile.com

This worked for me!!
Did anyone figure this out?
I also can't use the green phone button for redial (only) of specific (speed dial?) numbers. It's a hassle.
I also miss calls, but only from these same people. I do suspect it's a software problem, specifically and extended rom problem. I too have tried several OS ROMs, and all of the radio ROMs I can.
I don't have a myFaves plan or the app.
I'd like to try a fresh extended ROM next, but if someone has figured this out, since it's happened to me a lot (maybe getting the settings from Tmo automagically?) I'd rather tackle it directly rather than try to shot-gun solve it.
*********
As it turns out, the three people I was missing calls from were using old sim cards. Yes, three, and they were all something like eight years old. They all have had them replaced and everything is fine. Given this post, however, I'm going to sign up for myfaves.
hey,
looking for a way to be able to dial a number off my contacts when using a calling card. ie, when i call the calling card, it tells me to enter the number i wish to call, so instead of having to hand dial it in there, is there a way i can just go to contacts and insert that number? seems silly that i have to write that number on a piece of paper and then hand dial it. thanks
omar
Insert a "w" into the number to have the phone stop and wait for you to press send to enter anything that follows. Insert a "p" to have the phone pause for 2 seconds and then chug along. So for your contact:
(Calling Card Co. Phone #)w(CC Access Number/PIN)#p(Contact Phone Number)#
would dial the calling card, wait until you pressed send, enter your access code/pin for the calling card followed by a pound sign, pause two seconds (so the system can do its thing), and then dial the contact number followed by a pound.
You'll obviously need to customize to match the way your particular CC works.
Is it a silly question to ask why you are using a calling card on a cellphone? Are there any plans left that don't include long distance?
I'll make my guess in two words - "International calls."
Either that or he's trying to hide those 1-900/976 calls from his gf/wife.
$2.99/min doesn't last long...
haha na guys, i'm calling international. much cheaper to use calling cards than to dial straight. i'm still at school, and i tried what you said, didnt seem to work, but i'll try it again once i get home. btw, its the type of calling card where my number is saved with them, so i call the card, and it automatically asks me for the number i wish to dial thanks
omar
Well the same dialing suggestions apply. Whatever you dial on your phone manually needs to be inputted using a 'w' for anything entered manually or a 'p' for a pause, which sounds like what you need. You can put multiple 'p''s for longer pauses like: 1234567890ppp12345 which would give you roughly a 6 second pause.
You can also try inserting commas, e.g:
18007777777,,,0119991234567
But I don't think you can tap a contact phone number and have it inserted mid-dialing stream. If the numbers you are calling will always use the calling card I would just save the calling card sequence as part of each of their numbers.
My personal recommendation is to use SunnySoft calling card and, if you are in the US calling internationally, GorillaMobile.
I'm originally from the UK and call the UK a LOT on my cellphone.
This combination makes it totally painless, just have the international contacts in the phone book as a regular contact (preceded by +44 in my case) adn just press dial. All completely seemless and Waaaaayyyy cheapper than AT&T (even reduced rate) International calling.
Just my 2c
This program could help solve the problem for you.
You can store you calling card and pin with this. Then, you can use contacts and select any phone number and you will see a "Call with calling card" on it.
I use this extensively.
Hope this helps

Very cool. Thanks so much for the binaries.
I think the source can be found here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb158783.aspx if anyone needs to tweak it. I went ahead and installed the signature (pulled a copy off the CAB in PK7 format), but I don't think it's required.
I've wrestled with it for a few days before I found a post claiming contention with the WM version of Google Maps. Sure enough, after uninstalling GMaps and and uninstalling and ReInstalling the callingCard cab, all worked well. I can live without GMaps.
Contrary to the doc, you can place symbols along with letters in your pin. Since I have to enter two pins with my card mine looks something like:
12223334567#pp1234#
That enters the first PIN (Account number) # then two pauses. Then it enters the second PIN (PIN) and #. I think reboots are required between regedits for this to work properly.

Hello,
Thank you autosoori and Dan. I've added a very quick and dirty configuration GUI to it (its been a while since I've done any C++ programming to decided to use C# instead - apologies for the rubbishness on my part, but you will require .NET CF). The GUI is launched from the context menu in the Contacts list. Context sensitive help is provided within the app. Changed DLL so that device reboot is NOT required when registry changes are made.
I've only tested it on my Trinity running AX3L's WM6 ROM. Plan on adding support for multiple CC vendors (wife uses several calling card companies depending on destination). Apologies for the lack of clipboard support on edit controls.
Two files:
CallingCard.dll
CallingCardEdit.exe
I've wrapped them in a cab file. Alternatively, copy the two .exe's from zip to the original CallingCard's install dir; add a regstring in HLCU\Software\Microsoft\CallingCard called "ConfigApp" with the value being the full path to CallingCardEdit.exe; restart device.
Cheers
it works fine at my SX66 WM6, but only works with contact Menu than any other GUI .
hope for more functions

Hi,
My previous username was a bit non-random (for obvious reasons!), so I've changed it. Anyway, tell me what changes you want and I'll see if I can fit them in. If anyone wants the source, I can mail it to them.

I installed it and it's works fine, but today stopped work... the link appears, but I can't call with it. I tried to install it again... the same...
any idea?!
Here is a big problem I have with this CAB when used with GoogleMaps. If I install CallingCard AFTER GoogleMaps ... no Context menu for CallingCard appears in Contacts.
If I install CallingCard BEFORE GoogleMaps ... both GM and CC context menu appear, but when I select something like "Call work using calling card" it tries to use GoogleMaps instead
GREAT Application / New Features
GREAT JOB!!!
Thanks a lot !
works very well !
is there a way to use it with the call shortcuts for fast dialing ("numérotation rapide" in french) ?
it would be a very very very nice feature !!!
other options (less important, but pretty nice) :
1. ability to dial # after the "dial number"
2. in settings : ability to choose "0 secs" on each menu (pre-pin pause and pre-dial Pause)
Thanks in advance

GREAT Application / New Features
I havent reviewed this app for a long time - apologies. I've moved calling card provider to one that gives me a local number for each of my international contacts - nice!
Anyway, if someone desperately needs some work on it, I will try to fit it in - let me know.
Phil82de: I noticed the problem with Google Maps. I will try to look into it.
samerweb: Again, I'll see what I can fit it. What exactly do you mean by call shortcuts? If you mean phone Quickdials, then you could save the number that is actually dialled directly as a contact. Can you clarify.
Thanks.

I've had my Kaiser (tilt blah) for about 3 months now, and most of my issues I've solved off this forum through .cab downloads, or just becoming unretarted, but I have some questions about the default text program that I havent been able to answer myself... Everytime you send a message, you get a "message sent" notification that interrupts pretty much everything you're doing after your message. Is there a way to turn it off? Maybe just have a sound confirming it was sent? The other thing is sometimes when I text, the text input box at the bottom of the screen doesn't scroll with the words, making it impossible to see what you're typing or if you made any mistakes. Is it my phone? Or has someone created a patch so fix such things? (both). And that guy that said WM for this phone sucks it a waste of life. This is the best OS for a phone. Just may ned some encouragement from time to time, but It doesnt suck.

I downloaded the evaluation of Phone Alarm to test forwarding. I would like to forward my phone based on time, which it seems to be able to do.
BUT...
It seems to only support complete forwarding. That is, it forwards, no matter what. I want to be able to select "Forward if Busy", or if no Answer in 15 seconds, which I can select when I do it manually.
Does anyone know if it can do that? I seem to be unable to discover how to do that with this software. If not, then the software will be on the uninstall/don't buy list for me.
(FYI...I have written scripts in Mortscript to do that, but I find for some reason they are very flakey and often come up saying that a varialble does not exist. Next time it runs OK. So that solution seems not too good either).
Thanks
I've found I don't get many replies when I post in this particular forum.
But for anyone interested: I emailed Phone Alarm support, and it does do what I need. Instead of reading the documentation I should have read the list of choices to forward to. In that list is Voicemail, and Voicemail conditional.
Works like a charm.
Hello to everyone who is reading this.
I have just recently installed Cyanogen's 3.6.8.1 ROM, after rooting it. I much prefer the phone like this, but there are some things in the original I would like to put back, such as my notification ringtone called "Ta Da", (funny as hell for a ringtone, you should give it a listen) but in this new ROM, it's not there. Also, I live in Portugal, and here, phone numbers don't have dashes in the middle. Since installing it (the ROM), I probably got a US version, I have been seeing dashes in the "incoming call" screen and on the call log.
Can anyone explain if there's a way to put the ringtone back in and remove the dashes?
Just a warning, although I understand instructions on how to root, I'm a total noob when it comes to programming issues, so please be patient.
Thanks for your time and I hope this was posted in the right section.
Peace
To answer the question about the phone number format, I know there is an application listed in the thread that you can download and it will change the format of the numbers. I know it will change the format of the numbers in your contacts, but it might have an option for incoming calls, I'm not sure I never used it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532600
As for your other request, try this thread, I think you will find it helpful seeing as you just have to place the ringtones in an audio folder on your sdcard and there is not additional modding necessary as it appears the phone will recognize the folder on your sdcard

Thanks, that solved all my issues
