First of all, I think you mean the "Send" softkey. Second, what's wrong with text being sent after you hit the "Send" button. Isn't that the purpose? Or are you saying that you hit the "Send" button accidentally and want to disable it now? I guess I am not understanding your question.

Can't move apps or add widgets. Please Help!

Ok so this just happened like 5 minutes ago and I have never seen it before. I long hold the apps on my screen (not in the drawer, but on the screen) and I can't move any. I also can't long hold a blank spot and add a widget or anything. I know I can clear out a whole screen and add everything back but that is annoying. Any help would be great. And yes I have rebooted.
Haha my bad I guess I pressed lock desktop. Sorry guys.
Does this mean I thank myself??

Hi Noob,
I have the same problem. Nothing happens if I long-press a widget shortcut, whereas it used to enable me to move or delete said shortcut.
If I locked my desktop I did by accident and have no idea how to undo.
I have an HTC one with viper. Any tips?

[Q] long press doesnt really kill app

hi:
on cm9 or the latest cm10, a long press on the back button says app killed yet it still seems like the app is only minimized..
is there some other setting ive been missing?
no biggie, but would be really nice... plus i could apply the same thing to my wifes N7
thanx
when you say "minimized" what do you mean?

there are 3 buttons on bottom left :: back, home, and running apps.
long press just does about the same as pushing home ..
all long pressed apps still show as running in that button.
even using back button over and over doesnt close any app or browser..
no matter what , i have to manually close apps

ok i'm familiar with the buttons on the notification/status bar, however the "running apps" button is not running apps button, it's "recently used apps" button. it doesnt mean that the app is still running.
well, I should probably be embarrassed.. so I am a little..
thanx for that.. Every day I understand android a little more..
if I knew of a way to automatically clear that column, I would..
thanx

you can clear the recently used apps by swiping them left or right with your finger.

I know on CM10 (for Atrix) there's a little button on top right that clears all recent apps. I didn't see it on CM9. Swiping is the only way it seems. Change it to webOS style and it's more fun!
Cheers

I am running the latest version of cm10 and this and the previous version when you tap the recent apps button third in from the left i see 3 small horizontal lines in the bottom left hand corner, tapping this removes all the little windows in recent apps.
yees to all those things

[Q] Facebook settings

Hi - I might be being completely daft here...I got an HTC One today.
I can't seem to access the Facebook app settings to turn off notifications of new posts. I would expect to see the three little dots somewhere for the app settings, but all I have are actual Facebook settings. Nothing for the phone itself...am I missing something obvious?

Doing that just opens Google search?
EDIT : Got it. Changed the setting for the home button to be menu, not Google now. Thanks
OR, swipe right from the left edge to get the menu and then go down to the bottom - they're under 'App Settings'

Menu button (do you miss it)

Just found out a little tip which many of you might already know. If you are missing the menu button, especially for outdated apps like the xda app, you can still access it. The note 4 replaced the menu button with recent apps button, but if you long press the recent apps button you will get to the menu function.
That is all. Have a good day.

Thanks for that. I was using a friends S5 last night and that was driving me mad. My note 4 is at home waiting for me to open the package
If they completely removed it, then yes but holding task switcher for a couple of more seconds then it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that I have to hold the back button every time to access Multi window bar as app switcher only has opened apps.

App switcher has on every app window a icon on top right that does what you need.
Wow thanks a million for this. I thought it was gone forever :highfive:

You are welcome. It would have been a nightmare had it gone forever. Not all applications have that on screen menu button.
Brilliant, I missed that button... nice to know it's still there
Need a way to reverse the functionality from long and short press
Nope don't miss it. I don't even use the long press.

Its not about missing it just because you prefer to press the physical button. There are many apps which don't have the soft menu button. For example, go to Google Now and try to change the settings, but don't long press. Good luck with that.

I just did. Took less than 2 seconds. Then again, 6 of my past 7 phones all had on screen nav buttons, which I prefer

Wait, what? How? There is no soft menu button in Google Now. Am I missing something here?

There is. There is no way Google didn't implement soft menu button when they themselves are pushing on screen nav bar and soft menu buttons. Open Google now and it's bottom right corner. Might need to scroll all the way down. That might be the only annoying thing about it but it's there and very easy to access.

Oh I see, thanks. I assumed it would be on the top right corner. However, there does remain other apps that don't have it at all. For example the XDA app.

I agree with what your saying. But you've picked 2 really bad examples. You can get to menu without menu button in xda!
I am used to Android tablets which don't have the menu button anyway, so I don't miss it on the phone.

Open up the left panel and whilst its open. The far right button changes to a settings cog.
People should have read the manual by now...
