hey guys.... i have an unlocked iphone 2g version 2.2 .....i want to upgrade it to version 3.0...can anybody help me out....
unfortunately this is windows mobile community for devices manufactured by HTC
yeah i know....but is there any site like xda developers for iphone??
try to post it on Off Topic section, about site like XDA for iphone
there are also many XDA members that use iphone as primary or secondary device
Yeah, instead of upgrading to 3.0, upgrade the iPhone to an Android device and ride the wave of the future! iPhone's dead, baby, iPhone's dead.
Thread moved to off-topic
as of now im just plannin to upgrade my iphone with version 3.0...so can somebody please help me out with that....
Go to www.everythingicafe.com , www.hackint0sh.org or even www.modmyi.com
if you want the Official upgrade to 3.0 then you can simply sync your iphone to your itunes with a downloaded 3.0 firmware (search google) and your done
if you want a CUSTOM FIRMWARE of 3.0 then you will need a redsnow 0.8
update your iphone through itunes officially, after that jailbreak it using redsnow 0.8 and your free as playing ripped games and apps
@invisiblewave
hey what do you mean by an Android device and how is it better compared to version 3.0

Is there any cooked windows mobile ROM for this phone, i9000?
does anyone know if Samsung will release ROMs for Galaxy with WM7?
This doesn't make any sense. Why would on install wm on the GS? Just get an HD2 or wait for a WM7 device.
Lol this is too funny.

The problem is you are not likely to find support for anyone doing this for 2 main reasons.
1) Most people prefer Android.
2) It would be illegal, Windows Mobile has a licencing fee that was not paid for with your phone. (You see Android ports on WM phones because Android is free, it isn't allowed the other way around)
So you should not maintain any hope that it will never happen.
Samsung has other phones in the works that will support Windows mobile. They've just announced a blackberry styled windows mobile at the commincaAsia conference this year.
I highly doubt their windows mobile line will come any where close to what their Galaxy (Android) family.

Cooked windows mobile ROM for Galaxy S i9000 will be performed in the future.
Can't believe that people still wants Windows mobile, I'm currently stuck with windows mobile and i get frustrated every day. Waiting for my Galaxy S to arrive =)
Like to microsoft use the the galaxy s as a test device for wm7?
Like how they are doing with the i8910 Omnia HD.
I think it would be interesting to see how it performs with the hardware in the SGS. I do miss some of me apps on me Touch hd which is why I've kept it, tomtom for 1 and its easier to get flash support (cant wait for Froyo).
Also easier to change the system setting such as the bluetooth's minimum bitpool coz my sgs sounds rubbish in the car.
Wait for WM for SGS????
Wait for WM for SGS???? Don't hold your breath... LOL
(Running WM in SGS is like putting a "fiat punto" engine in a ferrari...)
Why would someone want something as outdated as WM? This OS is dead. WM7 is years behind Android...
I've been using WM for the last 7 years. My last WM phone was a Omnia 2 - The phone is great but I regret so much investing money in a device which OS is no longer supported by Microsoft... My only hope is Android for my WM phone.
Why you ask ? For the fun of it, of course !
Of course WM is outdated, but it's be "fun" to play with it on the Galaxy S, that's all ^^
Prot windows mobile 7 on i9000
Hi. I am makeing a new open boot loader for galaxy. Ill upload a source soon

This should be interesting!
Can WinMo actually be ported to other devices? I read somewhere that this is next to impossible since WinMo is closed.
Im guessing youre not spamming. Since youre registered since 2007.
I wonder how to make all the drivers? Although I've heard rumors that a SGS similiar device is coming for win mo. 7 so those could be used I guess.
*sigh* Closed source probably isn't a problem. If anything, it can actually be a good thing sometimes. It only generally benefits those who want to modify the core of a system (because it isn't extendible enough), or security patches.
For instance, even on Windows, IFS allows EXT3/EXT4 drivers to be developed without Windows source code, and Microsoft have actually evolved past Linux in regards to backwards compatibility (you don't need to recompile their modules every kernel release).
What's important is that the OS is designed for ARM, and their driver development SDK is comprehensive enough. So is it?
Right now im just makeing open bootloader to make it actually run. Else for drivers and all we need more developers. And this will take time
As i have gone through loader can be run since i have access to read n write on nand.

Where is it? I can't wait any more....
i would rather NOT run WM in my SGS
it'll defeat the whole purpose of getting the SGS
However if we can do Dual Boot, then it'll be intersting to play around with WM7 on the SGS
Since i have many programs that i still can't find replacement for in Android
it'll be handy to be able to Dual Boot to WM to run the old software
Would it be possible to have Android on this phone since its basically the same phone as the hd2
I assume you mean as a duel boot? As i see a lot of people asking to put android on it yet they could just buy the htc desire hd an almost identical phone that is designed to work with android. tbh i would love to see some sort of emulator for a couple of the apps but i am so so glad to be rid of android i loved it but it felt like an early 90's computer all basic with no flair.
I think it would be possible but it will be glitchy and a long time off my advise would be if you want android to buy an android device they have a lot to choose from.

its more advanced then the HD2 and has less touch buttons
however its a bit of a silly question IMHO. If you want android get the Desire HD.
Why put a round peg in a square hole ?
I actually think it's a great question.
Why would people want it? because it gives you CHOICE!
It would be great if you could dual boot with Android and WM7 so you get the best of both worlds: taking advantage of Android whilst also using WM7 while it matures. I'd absolutely love to have a device with android and WM7.
Wish I was a developer, I'd work on that project straight away! I'd pay to have a dual-booting HD7 (or desire HD!) !
Bring it on dudes!
Wow please close this thread since there are so many options available for android these days and if anyone needs a android phone they should buy an android phone
I'm not sure I agree with the last poster. T-mobile has no android alternative to the HD7 that I am aware of.

really? for tmous or t-mobile europe? Cause there is the g2 and mytouch4g that just came out android...
To the OP, considering how the hd2 android is booted from the sd card and technically, there is no sd card on the wp7 (once it's inserted it becomes program memory), I don't think this is happening anytime in the future. Gotta agree, that dual booting for computers can be important to some people, but for phones, I just don't see it happening with the newer os's.
I'm a layman with no technical knowledge, just interested, so my comment was more on a visceral level than technical. To clarify, what I meant to say was that '...there is no android alternative ...... I am aware of'...' regarding the large screen format of the HD7. I bought a G2 but returned it because it was bulky, and I decided that I did not need the slide out keyboard. I really liked my first foray into the andriod world during my two weeks using the G2, and was hoping that I would be able to use the HD7 with android as well.
PS. I'm in Florida.

If he wants Android, tell him to go get an Android phone if it's within 14 days, otherwise, it'll be awhile before Android comes to the HD7.

[Q] [question] HD7 ANDROID?
Okay I was just wondering.. is the dev going to make a way to port android to hd7.. I have a hd2 and its been ported.. I love android but love HTC 4.3 screen hd7 and plan on buying it.. what is there to come for the hd7. Android, or no?

I agree. I don't get it. WinPho7 is amazing. If you want andriod, dont get a brand new phone that just came out with a new windows version. Sure andriod has its perks, but so does Windows. I've had Apple, Andriod and Windows, and I just dont get the point of changing something off the bat. Altho He is probably thinking that the HD7 is like the HD2, with WinPho6.5, which I personally did not like. But it did have its perks too, like multitasking. I don't think many realize how long and how much work it took to bring Andriod to the HD2. I'm not a developer myself, but I can only imagine!
hd7
Okay I find out there is a phone out that's come close to the hd7.. its called HTC desire HD.. its looks just like the hd7 but the only thing defferent is the cam. Which is a 8mp instead of 5mp and its a android phone.. its not windows..
Just get a desire HD if you want an android powered 4.3 inch screen

If you want an android phone.. Why are you buying a hd7??
The answer is maybe. If you want Android, get an Android phone. There is a high likelihood that someone will at least attempt to port Android to the HD7. Whether or not it will be anytime soon, if it will be stable/usable, or if it will actually happen at all remains to be seen. My advice is not to buy a phone on the hopes that Android will be ported to it.
[Q]can i9000 run symbian^3 or IOS 4?
by dualboot or something ...
No, but why do you want Symian when you can have Android??

porting something less popular, and less useful, and less customisable is fun ??
Dual boot is possible, But extremely difficult. It has not been done successfully YET... and by that i mean, its not been done to the point where it is useable.
Maybe in future it could be an option, But with sooo many SGS 1 users upgrading to the SGS 2 .... i dont think the DEV will want to spend soo much time on a device that wont be as popular in 6 months time
Haha someone wants to use symbian and currently has android that's new also ios also suvks in front of android! Android is hands down the best is in the race and pls never compare something like symbian to android!

kernel: galaxian

Sure it can be done; if Nokia and Apple choose to cooperate with Samsung.
Will it be done? Answer is: 99.9% chance it will not be done.
A much more valid question if the SGS 1 will receive another updated beyond 2.3.x
Even that cannot be answered yet.
While you are at it why not port Psion to the i9000 as well.
I love me some ASCII art!
LOL guys i know that android os is much better than both ios 4/5 and symbian^3 belle
but i was curious about dualboot option in our device and some say that its possible but the developers wont spend time on our device because they all gonna upgrade to sgs2
but when it will happend (that dual boot thing) cause every time there will be new phones and new firmwares so at some point the devs most try the dualboot on our or sgs2 device why not if its possible ??
MOds Delete this please!

THere is already a sticky about this .... so no point opening another thread.
Android is not coming to HD7, as no one is working on a port.
So either be happy with Mango installed or sell it and get an android phone or trade it with the older HD2 where you can install your android
No biggie sold it already. My G2x is way better anyways
wtf? Android on WindowsPhone7? OS into another OS xD .. Maybe the idea was more like Android on HTC HD7. but interesting idea... would it be possible to have 2 OS in one? Like when u turn the phone on, you can switch between them.
Got this idea tonight , I was thinking about this and im sure that this as been done before , is there anyways to install windows phone on an android device such as Samsung Galaxy s. Also are there some restrictions that could make this not able to do so.
If someone knows any thread or tuts this would be apreciated.
Thanks guys
windows
till now.........we cant flash windows7 os on Samsung galaxys............why u want to switch over android........which is best os in the world.
windows for smartphone came and almost gone, nobody even noticed. Android is amazing and best.

Because windows isn't open source, like android, I think that it impossible to port it to other devices.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Not impossible, it's been ported to HD2. And other phones I believe but i know for sure Windows 7 was not meant to be on HD2
I hate windows phone os
I don't think he was asking or opinions of the OS. I think he was inquiring to see if it was possible. I to would like to try this to see or myself and not take others word for it. I will search for a solution and update this thread with what I find.
Edit: It seems that it is not possible currently. However, there are developers that are working on a solution to that problem The main problem is the hardware that was not intended for Windows that is equipped to run Android OS. Hopefully there is spark at some point. There is a lot of talk though that Microsoft is trying to bully their way into having smartphone manufacturers load thee OS and allowing the consumer to be ale to dual boot. That article can be see over at many tech blogs including Znet.
Till now, there is not any known method to do this. Android OS is the best OS in the world. Almost every application is available for android. Also it is most customisable. I would recommend you to stay with Android and install WP launchers to get windows phone like stuff/looks
It is interesting which ideas we`ve got :good:
In my opinion:
Microsoft is something for my PC @home, and Android have to run on my device ...
One of my friends have one nokia with WP7 ,looks nice and works good ,he says - but for me nothing gets about Android , but it is only my opinion
To ask the thread:
I have never heard of any way to flash WP 7/8 on Android devices ...
Only device that got WP7 and did not run it natively were the Toshiba TG01 and the legendary HD2
So sorry, not happening as it's closed source
if its possible on hd2 its possible on devices using same hardware as of windows phone trying to develop a boot loader which helps wp7 bot on our android , any who one can help us with it ???

it is always nice to running multiple OS on one phone,i think we need new bootloader same exactly like cotulla has done for HD2,this sounds good to start request to cotulla,i heard he was working for MAGLDR bootloader in HTC M7,let us see
I just write all my own apps for my WP... Android OS is a little clumsy and I think it's ugly... let me know if anyone finds out how to do this... I'd buy a galaxy in a minute if it weren't for the crappy OS.
