After a meeting with a desk, my Wing's screen is completely fubar. Of course the phone still boots up fine, I can make and answer calls, etc.
What I really want to do is recover my SMS / MMS history. Everything else is backed up via Activesync. Since I have no screen it is hard to run the PIM backup.
Any suggestions?

That worked swimmingly, thank you.
Hi
My SIM-Card will not hold more than 30 messages, and I'd like to use the "copy to phone" function to store them locally on my Himalaya and free up space for incoming messages on the SIM.
Doing so, my Inbox properly shows the copied messages (with appropriate symbols, whether they still are on the SIM-Card or already stored on the Hima).
Unfortunately, after a soft-reset, these locally stored messages are gone - that is: even after changing the SIM-Card (and the need of shortly removing the battery), I will loose every message that is NOT stored on a SIM-Card.
I am a bit confused, since c_shekars ROM is said to be soft- and hard-reset persistant, and all other installed software is still working properly after a soft-reset. Why then would all the messages be gone from the inbox?
Please advise, how to solve the problem...
BTW: I am using c_shekars WM2006 AKU7.0 RAMDisk-40MB Pagepool size-24MB for Himalaya
changing the sim always deletes sms etc form the fone... i dont know why but I think its a built in feature of the fone... and its like that on most fones ive seen. A security/privacy feature i think.
If u want to chenge sims regularly try using/scheduling pimbackup for smss and the sort.
Hello
thanks for that insight - but what about soft reset? Do you think, that is a security setting as well or would that be something to be able to corrected, that local SMS are deleted upon a reboot?
Additionaly, let me ask one thing about pimbackup: I have seen, that I can create a schedule, so that I do at least have a daily or even hourly backup of SMS's. Is that backup executed also when:
a.) the Hima is switched off, but the phone still on
b.) the Hima is switched off, AND the phone is switched off?
Thanks for the answers, in advance!
Sorry this is not a accessory type of thing, but then again I suppose I could be.
But anyway, is there a SMS PC emulator available for Windows Mobile 6. I would like to be able to send and receive SMS MMS with my PC as a gateway. So an incoming SMS would display on my PC and I would be able to reply to the SMS from my PC, with my phone actually sending the SMS.
If there are any options I would really like some input. I am not really looking for a complete WM6 emulator, just a SMS gateway or emulator.
Thanks,
Beau

Dashwire
Dashwire was just what I was looking for, thanks. After a few days of using it I found that it is perfect when it is properly sync'ed. But it seems to loose sync often, but that could be that this is my 1st WM6 device, and I haven't quite found a proper way of keeping it running in the background. Even though dashwire said the did not support the verizon xv6800, but I told them that I had a different carrier of the same model and it appears to work.
Mymobiler, I could not get to work, although admittedly, I have not tried too hard to get it to work even though I do have use for a remote "desktop" for my WM6. Right after installing my virus scanner said it was trying to connect to the internet, and I told the program to deny the request. Why would it need access to the internet. Perhaps that is why it is not working. But like I said I have not really looked into why it's not working.
Thanks!
-Beau
It's not that it needs to access the internet, just that it needs to access the network. ActiveSync connects via a "fake" network connection. By blocking MyMobiler, you prevented it from talking to the phone.
On dashwire, do you have it set to automatically sync? It works fine for me with that set.
Yeah, last night I took the time to actually read in detail the message about mymobiler, and now it works!
And as far as dashwire goes, it seems to work for a few hours and then it fails, until I close the program, and restart dashwire. I will give the settings a double check.
BTW: I was brave last night and flashed my phone to WM6.1 with GPS. It was very easy, a little confusing and got some conflicting instructions. Did not even have to call Verizon to authenticate!
a girlfriend of mine has a huge problem.

Activesync and drag them over to the PC would be the obvious way - there is some software kicking around that lets you control your ppc from your pc - if it shows what the screen 'should' be showing then that could help.
Good luck
just another another option
my mobiler is freeware and will let you see you mobiles screen on your pc and transfer whatever you need means you can access your fone like normal...
Hey guys,
I bought a HTC Touch Diamond in Dec 2008 and it was more or less fine until a few weeks ago when it just messed everything up. I brought it back to the store and got a new one last Friday. I was busy setting it up the whole weekend (installing Skype, Palringo, Fring, registry editor, .cab-file to get rid of the problem that the keyboard is not changing back to letters (was stuck in numeric mode), Google maps didn't work etc etc.
But now I have a new weird problem. After all the installations, everything worked fine. Then I started to put some pictures via bluetooth on the device, all fine, but out of a sudden, it's so sloooooooow!!! First I thought it's not working at all anymore, but by now I found out that it just takes ages to open programs, e.g. File Explorer, Browser, Settings... or when I receive a sms or email and click on it to open it fully... doesn't matter what I do, except using touch flo, this is working fine. And when the programs are finally running (after no joke about a minute), they are running very fast.
I have a Vodafone branding but am using it with an o2 sim. I never did a rom update or anything.
Does anybody know what that could be and could you help me???
Of course I could just return it again, but it would really suck as I just set it up, put all the contacs on etc (Active Sync isn't working as my pc has vista...), so it would be really great if anybody could help me!!!
Cheers,
mondiera

To save you a lot of time. You do not have to install some kind of ActiveSync on Vista. It is included and called DeviceCenter. Just a new name but with the same functionality as ActiveSync.
Did you soft-reset the device when noticing that it takes to much time to load an application?
Did you disable TouchFlo (eats a lot of RAM) for some time to see what happens?
Hey,
Thanks for answering so quickly... Yes, I did MANY resets, but it doesn't help. I also deleted a lot of files again, but didn't help either, and there's not much on the device anyway (data storage 51.45MB full, 34.37MB free, program storage 64.14MB full, 46.90 free, internal storage just 37.72MB full). And yes, I also enabled touchflo but it didn't help as well. As I said, touchflo is working fine, when the programs are running they are very quick within the application (quicker than my old device was), but UNTIL they are open, it really takes about 40-60 seconds - just not acceptable!
And thanks for the tip with the Vista Device Center, but I just connected the phone via usb, opened this Vista Device Center, clicked on settings, chose usb/bluetooth etc, the device asked whether to connect via Active Sync which I confirmed but now nothing is happening? And Vista Device Center says it's not connected...? This phone is really driving me insane! Seems like I have to return it again because I really can't work with it being sooo sloooooow :-(

I think you should. Maybe you should first try to connect to ActiveSync with your next device and after that start installing.
I'm sorry that I can't help you out.
You hav a faulty memory chip. Get it replaced.

Thanks guys, I think I will... I really can't keep it like that. And if even you don't know a solution, I will get it replaced. Thanks anyway!!
