My Tom Tom Nav 6 app needs to be set up everytime i switch the phone off and on. .
I also noted that the same thing occurs after approx 15 minutes after leaving the device.

Try the ED2K network.
I'll check for a good filename for you when I get home.
Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with a Kaiser and wants his iGo working in it.
Everything seems ok, iGo starts but after some seconds it shuts down. I tried to change GPS port and everything else I could thought but problem persists. Any advice?

Did you try Tomtom before iGo? I have the same issue with google maps. It will seek sats and give up saying no gps signal. But if I run tomtom and then start gmaps it works fine (inside buildings). I would suggest you open iGO outside and check it out. Are you using COM4?
Will check... now he is travelling (Poland) but will call me when he came back.
I did not tried TOM TOM...
find a free program called GPS Test. Set it to Com 4 / 4800. Much smaller than TomTom and certainly an app that's worth keeping on it.

the issue is that the internal GPS on the Kaiser needs to be "jump started" there a few apps that do this a free one that is also good is GPSViewer and the others mentioned above. I use TomTom well since it came with my Kaiser and with all that Damn Program memory who the hell cares if I use 10MB to install TomTom and a Map
I have never had problems with starting my GPS. I did a quick fix once and have used it with first Google maps (no problem) then Pocketstreets (again no issue) and finally Tom Tom.
I have never had to wait more than 20 seconds or so for a fix. Make sure you are outside before starting the application though.
i just tried to install my tomtom navigator 5 on my kaiser today and it would shut down the installation process when the files is about to start copying. is nav. 5 compatible with the kaiser? anyone successfully installed nav. 5?
you need TomTom version 6; version 5 will not work with Kaiser.
Tomtom 5 does work but you need to download the update off the tomtom website.
Hope this helps
Would anyone be able to direct me to a site or thread on how to install Tom Tom 6 on my WM 6 Treo 750 ? I put it on my Hermes no problem through SD card ,but having a hard time trying to install on my Treo. Thanks
hey bud.. if you have tomtom 6 it will install on the 750 i have iton mine but if you have tomtom 5 you have to upgrade
I apologise from the start this question has possible been asked and answered before but....
I recently bought a second hand Xda IIi it has Tom Tom 5 on it but when I flash Tom Tom up the PDA comes up with 'No GPS device' OK so I stood there for ages waiting for a satellite to no avail so I contacted the guy I bought the PDA from.
He said he had never used the GPS function but he would ask someone about it.
He came back yesterday and said :
"With regards to the PDA and TOM TOM, you need to get a Bluetooth GPS receiver and sync this with the PDA for TOM TOM to work."
What does all that mean?
Does this mean this device is incapable of GPS without some other device?

HTC Alpine/ XDA 2i/ or oll its clones hasn't got a build in GPS receiver!!!
You have to buy one (SIRF III recommended) and couple it with your device.
Works fine, use the search button , it's all in here. Nice to see you!
Thanks for the help. I guessed that may have been the case.
Damn more expense! So albeit you recommend a GPS receiver will any GPS receiver do?

Yes, every BT-GPS receiver should work. The one I would prefer is faster than other. Sometimes there are devices that have got TMC too, but your software must support that too.(eg. IGo8) On further help, feel free to PM.
