Updating twenty RSS feeds takes a lot of data; moreover I have my rss program (newsbreak) on the minisd with nothing in main memory, which means it won't automatically update (but also means I don't have to re-install it when I rebuild after a hard reset). I wanted to create a program to update it and my weather program when I connect by activesync. This program does that.
#r(#yesno) #p(Update Weather and RSS? silence=no) #rmr(1) #rmt(10000)
#r(#ifunknown) #p(stop)
#r(#iffalse) #p(stop)
#r(\Storage Card\Program Files\HandyWeather\HandyWeather.exe) #sleep(300)
#r(#tap) #p(197;309) #sleep(6000)
#r(#sendkey) #p(U) #sleep(300)
#r(\Storage Card\Program Files\NewsBreak\NewsBreak.exe) #sleep(5000)
#r(#tap) #p(197;309) #sleep(7000)
#r(#sendkey) #p(R) #sleep(300)
#r(#kill) #p(HandyWeather.exe) #sleep(180000)
#r(#kill) #p(NewsBreak.exe) #sleep(1000)
#r(#gototoday) #sleep(1000)
#r(#label) #p(stop)
I create a program (update.sksc) with this code and then use Memmaid to create a notification, which runs the program whenever activesync completes a synchronization (notification tab, Add, AppRunAfterSync). (for some reason, creating a notification when an rs232 connection is made is not working on my MDA).
The first three lines asks whether you want to update and stops the program if you do not say yes; this is because I've set it to run after every synch, and that happens pretty frequently if you leave it connected to the pc; it fails nicely. You have ten seconds to say yes if you want to sync. The second three lines update the weather program (handyweather, in my case) and the next group update my rss feed. I give it three minutes to update (more than enough) and then kill both programs and return to the today screen.
Hi,
Do you know any way to schedule tasks in order to be performed automatically?
Each day, when I wake up I have to:
-turn Kaiser on,
-turn wifi on,
-start my RSS reader (Egress),
-tap on Refresh button of Egress to download news,
-start Avantgo,
-tap on synchronize all my channels,
-start Tiny Stocks Manager,
-tap on Update All, to refresh data about stocks,
-synchronize by BT with ActiveSync,
-...
(and WeatherPanel and Spb Traveler seem to auto-refresh data without my intervention, fortunately)
I think what I'd need is a program which run some pre-saved macros at a scheduled time...
Thanks,
Mr B
I haven't tried it personally but SK Schedule Master might be worth some investigation

Yeah, thanks. Seems to be exactly what I need. However I'm stucked trying to compose a script to perform the tasks I stated above, and the tutorial is very short.
Any help about scripting in this application would be welcome!
Thanks,
Mr B
Dear,
I don't have a data plan, so I can't sync weather trough a 3G mobile connection (I deselect the option "Download the weather automatically").
I added one city to the weather tab in TouchFlo 3D, and I supposed that it will download weather info through ActiveSync (my computer is connected to Internet always while syncing), but it doesn't.
Do anybody know how can I get this info through ActiveSync?
Thanks!!

I use "SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V3.0"; Does it mean?
I also have a question, but slightly different one:
I only use WiFi while I am at home, all other data connections disabled. The problem is - the weather tab shows the forecast from the time I last updated it. Like now is afternoon, but it shows the moon there (updated last night) ..
I used SPB plug-in on my previous device and it showed relevant forecast even without a data connection. Do you know how to set it up, I believe they are using the same source for downloads.
I'm using NFSFAN WM6.5 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5. I've been playing with myn's donut, and I can't get some things setup that way I'd like. Appreciate any help with configurations and/or widgets and apps so I can move on to Android! Here's what I need:
Gmail - Using the WM app. I can switch between accounts. The widgets/apps I've seen just allow me to setup one account.
Opera browser - I want this to launch if I click a link anywhere (email msg, RSS reader, etc.)
Missed call, voice mail, text msg notifications on the home screen - I have a nice SPB setup using invisible widgets. Icons appear when there is something to check. I'd love something similar, although home screen widgets that show this would work. I don't like the top pull-down to see notifcations.
Ringtone - I want a normal cell phone ring. The built in one rings once and stops. The marketplace stuff I've seen is silly songs. Where can I get some normal tones?
Volume profile - SPB gives me a home screen widget that I press, get a menu, and I can select what I want. The widget changes to show the state it is in.
Backlight profile - I found a widget where each time I click it changes the level. OK but too many clicks. One click on the SPB widget gives me a menu with 5 options and I click one
Data off - Need an app/widget to make 100% sure data is off since I often go close to the US border and don't want the accidental roaming fees
Best RSS reader - I found one a while back that seemed good and automatically sync'd with Google Reader. I can't find it now. Open to suggestions here
Calendar - In SPB I display a nice transparent calendar showing next 3 events. Some in the marketplace are ok, but not quite the same. Ideas?
Streaming audio - I stream some Shoutcast by saving .pls files files on the device and opening them with TCPMP. I haven't really played with this in Android, so looking for ideas here.
Resolution - Myn's stock res is too small for me. I tried his 110 (not big enough) and 160 (too big) updates. How do I set something in between?
Looking forward to your suggestions so I can make the move! Thanks everyone.

Gmail - Set up your default Gmail account then set up more under the email app
Opera browser - Far as i know you can't change your default browser yet.
Missed call, voice mail, text msg notifications on the home screen - Check out AHome or OpenHome, sure they have something
Ringtone - I'm sure there's some on the internet somewhere
Volume profile - Try Toggle Settings
Backlight profile - Try Toggle Settings
Data off - If you open up the modem program and click disconnect, it turns off data till you reboot
Best RSS reader - BlueRSS is a good one, Doggcatcher is the best but costs
Calendar - Stock Cal works for me, but check out Smooth Calendar
Streaming audio - I use Streamfurious, you can import .pls into it
Resolution - I use MYN RL4 with 320x480, works great for me, but some people really like 320x428, but search the forums to change pixel density

for ringtones i use myxer.com it lets you upload, edit, and sell ringtones but most of the ringtones are free

I prefer Zedge. It's a free app in the market. Or if you want to make your own rings off of mp3's on your sd card, try ringdroid (also free)
Thanks guys. I've got a setup that works pretty good now. I'm just trying to figure out how to connect it to my Win7 PC to transfer files. Time to search....

are you running off of nand> if so then download the attatched file and install it onto your phone. then go into the app and enable it. then plug in your phone and win7 should install drivers. if your running off of sdcard then you need to find and download an app called ''dual mount sd widget'' and then add the widget to your home screen and click on it. then plug it in and let it install the drivers and your good to go. hope this helps good luck!!!
Thanks man. I'm using my SD card for now until I'm sure I want to switch. I'll give this a shot. Now to figure out how to install an app outside the market!

you need to download android sdk and it will come with the drivers you need for vista. Then go to device manager and update drivers and point to the drivers you downloaded with sdk. or better yet, here you go.
Unzip and place on the root of you C: drive and use device manager to point to the folder

I don't remember any drivers being installed.
Intertone - Install the apk open the app tick enable sd card auto mounting plug your phone into your pc your phone's notification tab it should say preparing sd card and say something about turning usb storage turning off. It will take about 30 - 60 seconds and you should get a pop up on your screen anking what you would like to do with the removable drive.

I just upgraded to Fresh 2.1 and have a few questions.
1. On the 2.1 upgrade now, when I make a call as soon as the call connects the phone vibrates, I looked all over, but could not find a setting for it, do you know how to turn this off?
2. Before upgrading all of my playlists would transfer to the phone from windos media player, now they won't transfer, do you know how to transfer them or a least load them onto the phone?
3. Final question, I like the new weather animations, but do they only work when you use that 1 weather and clock widget together, or is there another way to see the weather animations without having to use that widget. Also, how do you get the Live wall paper to work.
1. No
2. No
3. Yes. Second part of question 3, use the search feature.
