i just found these zip files on:
http://code.google.com/p/slideunlocker/downloads/list
wonder how to install like
skins,the clock etc...
coz it gives me error like "No Signature" etc..
i like the slide of iphone lock, but it wont lemme install
also some of those skins
U either need to unzip them or rename to .apk
do you have the applications for these? the iphone skin is for Lock 2.0. when you install Lock 2.0, it makes a folder on your sd card. that's where you put the zip files.
when your on the slide to unlock screen, press menu and find the option to download skins. You don't need to transfer files from your computer..
tnx to all of these replies

Hey I am new, and I am wondering how do you install cab files? I downloaded the midlet manager and i extracted it on my pc, and i see a bunch of files but none of them are cab files, they are all unidentified, can some one help me please? much appreciated
thanks in advanced
Just copy and paste the zipped cabfile in your phone anywhere through Activesync, preferably 'My documents' folder and execute it there in the phone,it'll run and install all by itself.
Cheers!
when I extract the file,I dont see any cab files, So i just put the whole folder in my phone,I try clicking on the files and they wont open,I just get a message sayin
"There is no application associated with "00CAB10A",run application first then open this file from within the application
ok, for 'Midlet' here's how you do it as per the post in Midlet Manager by risidoro:-
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- Download Risidoro's Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
or read the thread :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286604
Cheers!

You are NOT supposed to unpack the CAB!!!
You must copy the cab (Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_Manager_11.1.7.1023.cab) found inside the zip file from the thread that zabardast linked to your device and simple run it (one click via File Explorer or double-click with Total Commander)
as simple as that...
thank you so much
I got it installed
ok I have a htc droid eris and I can't find the file manager on my phone to get to the files on the sdcard. so I downloaded a file manager app and when I click on the .cab file it does not just install it asks what I want to do open with kind of thing. like browser and a bunch more things I have tried most of them and nothing is working. Is there something else I need to install a .cab file with this phone or wtf is my dumb butt doing wrong to not be able to install it.
Install .cab files to unlock sd card.
Hi, think ive messed up here... can someone help or confirm my balls up!
Ive been following this tutorial to flash my hd2 with an updatable Win.7 rom;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
Charging ahead, installed, had a few probs along the way but worked through them... got it installed and working!
Then, moving onto step two of my plan, a dual boot of Android from sd card... :S Do you know whats coming? After re-reading the install instructions I noticed the 'Unlock SDCard' a few steps before installing the rom. :S I have now learnt that Windows mobile 7 locks the sd card to the device and is un-usable in anything else, having already messed up an 8gb and a 16gb...!
Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to 'somehow' install the .cab files to unlock the sd card...? or anyone know of a way to decrypt the sd card?
"THE SD CARD IS UN-READABLE IN MY PC AND PHONE WITH WM6.5 STOCK ROM"
If I re-install the rom from the 'back to the future' tutorial (link above), the storage is available for use on the hd2, but still cannot be seen by my PC... making it hard to install .cab file or anything else!
Both my sd cards have effectivly been high-jacked by microsoft...!
Please help me liberate my GB's...!

themes will come in two formats
1. cab file - to install these properly, copy the cab file to your phone. disable touchflo by going to start-settings-today-items and untick touchflo. Then do a soft reset.
2. a .theme file (usually zipped). to install these, unzip it, place the .theme file on ur phone, open n install it with Diamond TF3D config.
Mods please delete. I figured out my errors and all is well.
If anyone is having trouble with this as I was, please refer to these instructions. I'm sorry, I forget who posted them but credit to whoever you are. Big help.
1. Transfer the apk from your phone to your computer. It's probably in a place like data/app or data/data or the like
2. Open the apk with 7zip. Do not extract the whole thing, just open it. Inside you'll see a folder called "res"; transfer that somewhere on your computer.
3. Inside the res folder you'll see a bunch of folders. The images you want to edit are usually in a folder labeled "drawable", but you may have to look elsewhere
4. Find the background image you want to edit. It might be labeled widget_bg or something helpful like that.
5. Edit it how you want. In the case of transparency, you want to delete the background and make it entirely transparent. Save it in the same format and do not change the name. (Note- if your file has .9.png in it, you have to open your edited version using draw9xpatch or whatever in the Android SDK and save it through that as well)
6. Drag the res folder with your modified images back into the archive, using 7zip. You might want to use a duplicate of the apk, just to have the original on hand in case something goes wrong.
8. Place the modified apk into the place-apk-here-for-modding folder in the APK Manager folder
9. Open up script.bat. Select your project using option 22.
10. Do the following things- Extract APK (1), Zip APK (3), zip as regular apk (2), sign apk (4)
At this point you should have a signed version of the apk in the place-apk-here-for-modding folder. You can transfer it to your phone now and install it. Or install it directly onto your phone through apk manager if you have ADB enabled.

Wait a minute, you click on the application from your file manager, opening it in your App Manager, and it says Application not Installed?
That makes no sense at all. The only time I've encountered that is when I've tried using an app that was stored on my SD card, which wasn't put in. That app was on my homescreen too.
I'll have the .apk on my SD card somewhere and I'll try to install in through a file explorer with the error message above.
I tried installing through Dropbox, but that also gets me the error message. I've uninstalled all applications of the same name because that's what you're supposed to do. It's weird, I know. I'm trying to work through it right now.

We've all seen/have/tried the Honeycomb Music Player apk. Now, for some of us, the cloud sync is working, and I'm suddenly really impressed by the player. But man, the widget it hideous. I know themers can't add album art support to the widget, but what about just matching it the honeycomb theme? The black with blue trim thing...
I've tried to ninjamorph, and I've a different way which used to work when theming the old widgetlocker, but every time the installation won't succeed. It seems that it's as simple as opening the files of the apk and changed "app_widget_bg", but it doens't work.
I attached the honeycomb dock that I wish to make the widget theme. I would just need to quickly add the trim all around it rather then just the edges, but, still, this would help so much.
Any help would greatly appreciated!

All you have to do is edit /replace the pngs in the apk then resign it. That was why it didn't install, you didn't resign. To resign:
1) Download the attached zip
2) extract it and you should get folder called SignApk
3) rename your honeycomb musik player.apk to "app.apk" (after modifying it ofcourse)
4) put it into the SignAPK folder
5) run "sign.bat"
6) an apk called app-signed should have been created
You can then rename this app if you want (it wont make a difference) and install it normally.
If you modify the image in the APK and then push to /system/app/, no installation should be necessary, nor resigning.

Push meaning ADB? I don't know how use that monster yet. I'm on a mac, and I've found that apkmanager or really any desktop version of android is much more difficult to find and run on macs.
If I get the modded .apk onto my SD card, then move it using root explorer to system/app , what does that do? Will it just automatically appear in my app drawer without being installed?

Is this different then using zipsigner on the phone? I put the modded folder onto my SD card, zip it up, rename it .apk, sign it using zip signer ... still no good.
Do I do your method from my computer or my phone?
So I tried to do it via the attached the zip, and it didn't work. I couldn't even run sign.bat to begin with (on either my phone of my computer).
I also modded the image using ninjamorph then put it in my system/app - and nothing happened.
Surely theming a simple widget is easy enough. Does anyone on here know the easiest way?

also rename the bootanimation to what yours is named either ATT_bootanimation.zip or bootanimation.zip
Here is how I did it.
1. Download the .zip to your desktop and rename this file to the file that your device uses. (I use ATT, so I navigated to system, customize, resource, and that's where I saw my boot animation and it was, ATT_bootanimation.zip
2. Mount the disk so you can open the external sd drive on your computer
3. Moved the .zip file from the desktop to the external sd drive
4. I use Rom Toolbox, but use a root explorer and copy the bootanimation zip file from your external sd card, to your devices bootanimation file, It will ask if you want to overwrite or keep both files, but you MUST overwrite. Reboot phone and it should work. If that doesn't then try and install it from your recovery and you might have to delete the cache, but try that.
I do recommend backing up the phone and the current rom though...Just incase
Is there a specific place to go where i can download different boot animations for the vivid as well as preview them before downloading?
There are boot animation threads...
Trial and error as far as what works...
Our screen is 960x540
Anything smaller COULD work

You can always try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678540&highlight=sense
You have to download them first but it lets you see what it will look like.
Don't overwrite your ATT_bootanimation.zip file just rename it ATT_bootanimation.bak (or just bootanimation.bak if your original bootanimation file is named just bootanimation). This way if you can't get it to work then you can delete the file that dosen't work and go back to your original file by putting the .zip back.
Try install boot animation factory
HTC VIVID 4.0.4 SENSE 4.1
I'd love to try Annimation Factory but it requires Win SP3. I only have/use the laptop my company gives me and they control what SP are installed with an iron fist and we are only on SP1. I really need to build a new box. I"m still working on doing it the old fashion way as discribed in the OP's document.
EDIT - FYI - I installed Annimation Factory and it works just fine on SP1. One thing that I have noticed every time I open it it prompts me there is a new version even when turning off the check for updates in settings. When I try to download the new version it gives a downloader error. I don't think this is related to SP1. The AF version I have works good though. I'll go and get the new version manually.
