Can anyone recommend - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

An app or widget that will allow me to connect to WiFi networks - something nice and efficient?
I currently have to go through Settings - Wireless - Wireless settings - then choose a network. I'd like a one click solution.
cheers

You can put a shortcut to the On/Off switch on any homescreen.
You'll find it at:
Settings>HTC-widget>Settings>WiFi

Thats just 'on/off' toggle which is not what I'm after - I want an app that will ( at one click ) - show available networks ( open or otherwise ) and let me join them.

That would be nice indeed! I'm also interested.

I installed Andrew Schwimmer's 'Bar Control' app. I how have a "Wi-fi settings" shortcut in my notification bar - ideal.

Does your Hero not notify you when it finds an open network ?
Mine does and by hitting the notification, it takes you to the correct Settings page to choose a network.

Shortcut to Turn 'Data-Roaming' On / Off ?

Is there a shortcut or widget to simply turn off/on the data roaming option?
It would be so much easier than going through home/ settings/wireless & network/ mobile networks
thank you
I use widgetsoid 2x.There is a option to add shortcut for system activities.
Also you can download a handy little app called 'Anycut' from the market which lets you create a shortcut to more or less any function. I use it for turning ON/OFF background data.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i have try widgetsoid x2 but system activities is limit, i don't see data-roaming only , there are network ,2g/3g , however can you explain me how?
I have also Anycut, ilt should be but with 2 actions , when i run shortcuts and i must enable the ratio . what's the name system activies for this?
Thank you
use the 2g 3g toggle from CurveFish. its very simple and neat app.
when you open the widget, u will be taken to mobile network settings page, when you can turn on/off the data roaming.

4g toggle

Does anyone know if there is a widget capable of toggling the 4g on and off?
I haven't found a widget but you can switch between 4g/3g in this menu...
Settings > Wireless & Network settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
That's been my current method, but i'm looking for something much faster for when I know ill be watching nfl live stream or using the market.
I have not found one either. Extended controls has the controller widget but I don't think it's updated for Bionic yet. Errors saying your device is not 4g-capable.
Have you tried Power Control Plus? I don't know if it's compatible with the Bionic (and I haven't seen any upgrade notices for it recently), but I believe it had a 4G toggle available.
The app "LTE Switch" is good. throw a shortcut on the homescreen and it takes you directly to the settings to turn it on/off

In my opinion this works good. it also gives you the choice for 1ex (cdma only) in those areas (like my work) where the phone is trying to access 3g but cant.
So you have the option to go 1ex, 3g or lte.
I just downloaded LTE switch and I agree that it works well enough for now.
Zdbox network widget works as well

[Q] Widget replacing series of screentaps?

Due to my wonderful provider (KPN Mobile in The Netherlands) I have a very very poor reception at home. Causing simple telephone conversations to be cut off. They have only one solution: indoors I should use Wifi, switch off Mobile Data plus change Network Mode to GSM only.
Indeed that works, but it is crazy to do that every time I get home. It involves 11 screentaps:
settings - Wif-Fi on - back - More settings - Mobile Networks - Mobile data OFF - Network Mode - GSM Only - back - back - back.
Then, when I step outside, I have to repeat the whole process, disbaling Wi-Fi, enabling mobile data and setting Network Mode to 4G.
Would there be a widget, or is there some simple way of programming, to replace all these taps with one?
I am on Android 4.1.2, the phone is not rooted.
Both wifi and mobile data ON / OFF are on the quick settings drop down panel at the top of your screen.

Thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately there is no quick-setting for changing the Network Mode, and exactly that causes several needed screentaps, even via the quick-menu:
slide-down - Wif-Fi ON - long-press Mobile Data - Mobile data OFF - Network Mode - GSM Only - back.
So indeed, 7 instead of 11.
Still, it would be preferable to have a widget on the homescreen or some kind of script to replace this series of "keystrokes" with one tap ....
NFC task launcher
Tasker is another possible .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEhnOJl5mTo
Right ... checked both Tasker and NFC Task Launcher. What I noticed is that no external program can change the Network Mode, due to rights-management in Android. Only one of the two can do that when Cyanogenmod is applied, and I am on stock.
So what i did now was place https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.softxperience.android.switchnetworktype&hl=en on the homescreen, from there it is only one extra tap to Network Mode.
What I would be looking for now, is one little app that toggles between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data.
Something like the G/3G switch, preferably a program to be put on the homescreen (not a widget), that with one tap simply toggles
Wi-Fi OFF and Mobile Data ON
Wi-Fi ON and Mobile Data OFF
So far I have not found such a thing ... every app I found strictly toggles either Wi-Fi or Mobile Data on and off, but not toggling between them.

Force 5GHz wifi? (9.7)

Hey everyone - just want to check if people have noticed this and/or have a workaround for it.
I'd like to set my device to connect only to 5GHz networks. On other devices, I'd do this by Settings -> Wifi -> (menu) -> Advanced and toggle the Wifi Frequency option there. As far as I can see, the Advanced option isn't available on the Wifi menu screen.
1) Is the advanced settings screen missing for everyone else?
2) Is there another way to access this screen?
3) Is there another way to toggle the relevant setting?
Thanks for your help.

Question Network Modes (5G-2G)

I just moved new from huawei to samsung. and on huawei they always had a shortcut to switch directly to 4G only. also when long pressing on the mobile data in quickpanel it took you directly to the setting page where you can change the network mode.
On samsung software i cant seem to find any shortcut to this except to go to settings > connections > mobile networks > network mode and change from there. I dont want to keep it at automatic because sometimes i am in poor reception areas and already have wifi so i need to force it to 2g only which has better reception. (to reduce battery drain)

I click on the button I mentioned and it brings me to a band selection screen. Might only work on the QUALCOMM version which is what I have.
Here is a screen recording I just made.

Just use Bixby routines and create a condition or a button to trigger the change to your preferred network mode.

seems so. and besides it still requires you to go to the application and click the button. so i can instead click on settings and then connections and then im on the same screen. on huawei it was just 1 click to be on that screen

I have set up a bixby routine to switch network modes, and you can put a button on your homepage.
Settings > Advanced Features > Bixby Routines
If Start Button Tapped
Then Network mode (select what you want)
You can also make it revert when you unclick the button
Then on the home page, long press, add widget, add a bixby routine button, select the routine you just made

Sure. In the "if" condition choose "start button" then choose the action to switch to the preferred network mode. After that you can set a home screen button for the routine.

Thanks guys, ok I have managed to create the scenario but I was under the impression that this button can be put in the quick toggles but I cannot find it. Where do you find the button?
I can only see it as a widget. (I am using nova launcher if it matters)
Thanks again

Thanks bro, so there isn't any way to put this 'button' except as a widget in the homescreen? No way to put it for example in edge panel or quick toggles etc.. ?

There are apps I have used in the past that create shortcuts to system tasks that appear as apps, however I don't know if it's compatible with Bixby Routines. Will try at lunch and see what I can find

I have found from the galaxy store the app called widget edge that would allow you to add widgets to the edge feature.
For now this solves my problem in a way. If you think of other solutions please let me know.
