Hi everybody
I have a G1 rooted with the following:
Carrier: T-Mobile (Puerto Rico)
Device: Dream (G1)
Firmware: 1.5
Rom: CyanogenMod - 4.04
Theme: Dark Hero
For some reason it was working very well but from yesterday it does not have internet, no browsing, no messenger, etc.
If somebody knows some settings to check any change on the Mobile Networks section for this carrier it will be appreciated.

That's kinda drastic don't you think.
First reflash your ROM without flashing the theme. All troubleshooting should be done without a theme to limit variables.
Post your APN settings.

I re-flash again with the CyanogenMod-4.0.4 and the internet does not returned. This is very weird because I do not touched this cellphone for around 2 weeks, no reflash, no appz installation, anything.
yeah how about wipe all your partitions and reflash?
no internet (resolved)
Okay people, thank you very much for your attention. The problem was resolved. What do I did? alt W, wipe the G1 and it is working again.

You know I'm not singling you out here so please don't take offense. Wiping is not allways the answer. A data wipe in this case solved the problem but it could have been solved without wiping, and you had better be experiencing f*ckin doomsday to wipe all partitions and reflash. Bottom line is, suggesting a wipe is a punk way of solving someone's problem. Now if that person doesn't mind redoing all of his preferences and going though the setup process then a wipe is easy. In this particular case it was probably an APN problem or a cache problem neither of which will cause loss of information. So from now on make sure you explain your reasoning when you suggest a wipe.

Fingerlickin, don't worry, all the help is welcome, I was verifying my son's G1 with mine and all setting were the same, I was a little impatient for what happened. Thank you again.

Oh no I was referring to stefan.buddle not you bengar. If you don't mind wiping then it is the easiest way to fix it. But for someone else to suggest wiping all partitions without giving you an option is not the kind of help we should be giving people here.

I was afraid of that.
This happened to me yesterday as well here in North Carolina.
Turns out T-Mo was doing something on their end, had nothing to do with my phone or theme.
Woke up this morning with 3G EVERYWHERE I GO!!!! I am so pleased. The speed of 3G is very good - though I was really impressed with Edge as well.
I did not see Puerto Rico on the list for 3G in the 3rd quarter, but perhaps it's in the works?

Fingerlickin, I know that was not for me. don't worry. I know that make a wipe won't be the first option to resolve a problem, but I was really desesperado. I make a good thread reading here, re-installing first the same firmware, re-installing the radio and upgrading to firmware to the 1.6 and then, the last I did was the wipe. It is now running very well. Thank you very much.

ever since updating to the cyanogen 4 series of roms i have been getting 3g issues. by this i mean that sometimes it doesnt want to connect to the internet from any program, like the market, google voice, or the browser. sometimes it does work, but sometimes i have to reboot the phone or just turn off 3G in order to browse the web. i am running haykuros spl with apps2sd with a 800mb ext4 partition. and im running the latest cyan mod.
can any one assist me in this?
what can i do to fix this?
do i need a new g1?
I dunno if wipe helps have you tried that? boot into recovery, wipe (alt+w)
if not, jacxrom is a good alternative to cyan, i guess...
but chances are your phone's hardware itself is fine, and you won't need a new one.

has anyone else experienced this and how did u fix it?
ive had the same thing happening lately. i had it happen tonight with just my edge connection i had to reset the phone. I also just wiped and reformatted my sd card for a linux-swap partition before flashing this rom so i know that isnt the problem.

Try re-installing the radio.
I had to do a second wipe after installed to fix the 3g problem. Since then I haven't noticed any problems

I dunno if this is related, but Ive been having bluetooth issues since the latest few updates, bluetooth has never been perfect for me, but when I listen to mp3s over bluetooth it almost constantly stutters, like its dropping the BT connection, because the music seems to have been going on playing while I don't hear anything.
what is with all these questions in the wrong forum? where is Mikey when you need him?
READ THE STICKIES. POST IN THE Q&A FORUM.
Mod request to delete thread: fix for BT and 3G issues
1. power down the unit with the red key. Wait a minute. Power back up.
2. Try reinstalling the radio
3. Try reinstalling the ROM, and then reinstall the radio again
5. You shouldn't have to, but wipe, re-create (not just reformat) your ext# partition (you can back it up and refill it, but occaisionally stuff gets left behind) reinstall the ROM, wipe, install again, install the radio, full power cycle.
5. (Last) post your issue
This actually belongs in the ROM forum, but not until these basics have been tried.

i tried this but still no cigar,
=[
I don't believe this to be a problem with a ROM or radio. I've had similar connection issues recently. i noticed it after flashing a Hero Theme to Cyan 3.9somethin. I thought the rom might have been the cause of the issue but a buddy of mine that i work with has a stock G1 and has similar connection issues. Also a customer came into the store who had a Samsung Highlight with similar problems, i figured it was a problem on Tmobile's End. It still hasn't fixed itself so i plan to give customer service a call in the morning and see if they have any resolutions or if its a recognized issue. I'll post back with what i get tomorrow.
MOD EDIT

no signal..
As of late my phone was good... but now it says no service all day why.. an what can i do to fix... i was running cyanogen 4.0.4... i beive i hav the latest raido.. spl dont know... the wifi still works thou.. help please..
Hi. I would post this in froyomod topic but i can't because i'm new and stuff.
I know a lot of people have the exact opposite problem, but after i upgraded my froyomod to 2.7 my wi-fi won't turn off anymore.
I mean, i can turn it off but after a while it turns back on again. Even when the device is locked. I wouldn't mind my wi-fi on 24/7 but sometimes i need my phone for the whole day and if wi'fi is always on my battery won't last half the day.
Does anyone else have this problem? can it be fixed?
Thanks in advance!
Try flashing the Rom again and wiping both Cache Partition and
Dalvik cache. If it don't work, do a Nandroid backup and then a Factory reset and see what happens. If the problem is fixed, restore the Nandroid, make a backup of everything that's important and then do the factory reset again. This way you don't lose anything.
I tried flashing the rom again and the problem is still there, and since it was pissing me off i went back to froyomod 2.6, but guess what? My wi-fi turns on by itself on that version too...
So i guess the problem is on my device. I should try another rom and see how it goes.
Also, i did reset all the data and tried everything. This is really pissing me off.

Sorry, but what does that mean? Can i fix it? I even tried formatting my SD Card completely but it didn't work. I had the same problem in all the roms i used.
Ah ok. That's pretty weird.
Y5 is an app that automatically connects to wifi networks but there is no setting to disable it.
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
This is really weird since the only apps i use are facebook, twitter, and some others that don't update automatically.
Anyways, thanks for the help. I give up.
Unsure whats going on, not even sure how long this has been going on with my phone. Not rooted...tried resetting it twice now, but still doesn't show or tell me when I have a new voicemail. Frustrating to no end, maybe a new sim card or something? I'm out of ideas & hoping someone can give some insight, thanks.

Are you sure you're getting NEW ones and not old ones?
Try SBFing? (This resets your phone back to complete defaults, even more so that doing a factory reset does)

Oh and I recommend doing it on a 32bit version of windows insetad of a 64bit. 64s seem to be harder to get working properly with RSD Lite.
And when you connect your phone, use a Back USB Port instead of a Front one, they're more reliable.
So I've been having this strange problem and I am convinced there is no simple solution. Every time I wipe date and install a rom, I try to sign in to the Google account during setup, and I keep getting an error saying that there was a problem communicating with Google servers. I've done a factory reset, formatted everything, tried different RUUs, and nothing seems to work. I just can't sign in on a Sense 5.5 rom. So now I want to clear the phone completely, because there must be something that no form of wiping is touching. A stock RUU can't solve the problem and I don't know what can. I even tried using LTE instead of WiFi and still no luck. Does anyone have any clue about this?

But I have wiped everything including internal storage and used usb-otg to install roms. Nothing works. Are you sure that will fix this?
EDIT: Can confirm that your recommendation doesn't work for me. I decided to flash a different rom (InsertCoin) and in this one I can sign in, but it won't sync, it just keeps saying "Google Sync error."

It did the trick for me. Also, I mount system in recovery before doing anything. I'm pretty new to this phone and never used any recovery except 4ext on my Desire and Evo so I can't be 100% sure, leaving data did the trick for me
I've tried a few new things so far. I used the mkfs.ext4 file to format the data partition as I think that's where the source of the issue lies. But I also used fastboot to format system. If this doesn't work then I don't know what else to to. I might be forced to run a GPe rom or some other android rom. I just strongly prefer sense.

It won't work. I tried typing in random letters in to the user name and password box but it doesn't even try to connect.
Well I've got bad news. I managed to hard brick my device, so this issues I was having is not an issue for me anymore. But if anyone can help find a solution that would be appreciated as I'm sure someone else might be facing the same problem.

That's when you can't enter the bootloader anymore. You hold the power button and the lights on the bottom don't flash and it'll just vibrate a bit. But it's all good I got the phone replaced today. So then I installed the rom I was trying to install earlier (the one where I couldn't sign in to google) and I ended up having the same issue. So I think I'm gonna just use ARHD or something.
Hi, my razr i(xt890) have 2 years now and start to have problems like sudden loss of signal and reboot shortly after that, especially when I'm using 3g or making / receiving a call .. I have tried to wipe data / factory reset on fastboot and factory reset on settings, but after 2 or 3 days the problems happen again .....
My question is, has anyone had or know how to solve this problem? or does anyone know how to clean it real, delete all, REALLY like factory? Because after the wipes I noticed my files are still there, and directories of applications too, so I found it weird, Wipe data isn't suposed to WIPE? .... If I install a ROM it would look like new? I do not understand much of it ... PS the bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted. I love the phone, don't want to buy another.... Thanks for anyone to help.
You can flash a stock ROM using RSD Lite. This should wipe everything excluding your micro SD.

Ah got it, so I don't really think that is a hardware problem, because the problem was happening really frequently, and when I flash the stock rom it stop happening for 15 days... I don't think I have any problem like loose SD or SIM, cause I noticed that it only happens when I'm recieving a call or when I turn on the data (3g)... this is a specific situation, not every time.
Nothing special means I don't really install many things after wipe data, because I don't want to reinstall everything in case didn't solve the problem.
And I never installed mods and lounchers... nothing like that
