I had an idea or perhaps it already exists...
A software that sends sms automatically at predefined time.
For example:
The situation:
I want to remind my wife/brother/etc to buy milk after they finish work at 5pm on the way.
The problem:
1. If I send it too early s/he might forget I sent the text earlier.
2. If I dont send the SMS now, I might forget to send the text when she leaves work and walks pass the shop.
The solution:
As soon as I remember we need milk (say at 11am), I would write the sms message and press send, and set the time for it to be sent out.
At 6pm, in the middle of a football match I completely forget to send that SMS - but luckily due to the clever software it has already sent it out at 5pm. Missus comes through the door with the milk and thanks me for the reminder....
So anyone know or willing make or help me make such a clever sofware
You could use multisms to send on set times. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562863
in germany you can send SMS later when you add the following code:
*Later(blank)(hours)# your SMS text
That's nice to know next time I go germany I shall try that - Im in the UK at the moment. I tried it but didnt work..but thanks

can someone answer the above? At present, when u write a text message and are with no signal it simply puts the text message in ur draft folder which i find useless. I know nokia, has a 'resend' option or something. Anyone know of anything for the kaiser?
That would be a nice feature, i've come stuck a couple times like that (on a flight and out of coverage) and had to save them as drafts then click on send later when back in service.
I send a lot of texts to large groups and also find they stick in the outbox sometimes never moving, if i try and click them they send repeatedly sometimes people get 5 or 6 messages. Both these issues were a problem for previous versions you would have thought they had sorted it by now.
You could try using the 02 SMS Plus application...it lets you set a schedule as well as lets u send group sms's. It comes bundled with all 02 phones and should work on Wm5 and Wm6. Try searching the forum for a Cab file of the application
is there a way to add multiple recipients to an sms message
I want to send out the same message to 20+ people but have to add them all individually which is a pain!

i think what you mean is be able to do a "group" send but i don't think so that is one of the options available under the sms application that comes on kaiser. You could search around for one that does enable that though, as i don't know of any (not that i ever looked for one, only text occassionally ).
when you create a new sms, where you put in the person you send it to, what i do is, hit the hard center button, and that brings up contacts, after you select the contact you want it returns to the send part of the sms, just keep repeating that process till you have all the people that you want to send it to. see if that works for ya or if thats what you wanted.

Cheers - hadn't realised you could do that - was fed up with having to go through each menu everytime. I think I'll try it that way before I put more software on my device
Thanks again
hi all,
i travel on the underground trains a lot, and sometimes its the only time i get to write / reply to text messages.
however when i click send all i get it "SMS CANNOT BE SENT" message and it gets saved in my drafts. then i have to remember later to re-send them.
is there not a way that we can queue the messages in our outbox so that the phone immediately sends when it gets reception?
my old phones used to do this but it seems newer ones dont..
many thanks!
just wanted to ask if people understand what i mean? i found a similar topic to this form last year with no replies also.
my old HTC (200mhz windows mobile 5) had no issues with this, so may be this is just a registry fix... ?
There is an easy way to do this...
type all the message in ur Tube Train
once all the messages are there in your drafts, go into your drafts folder, select all the messages and click menu>move and move it to outbox. Once your phone will get the reception sms will automatically go
Regards,
Vishal
see but this is the problem, if i do not have reception already then sms get automatically moved from the outbox back to the drafts folder.
i know you are trying to be helpful but i want it to do something different!
imagine this, you are on the tube, then you get off and make your way through the crowds up to the street level onto a crowded busy street where just standing in one place would be in somebodys way.. so i walk to where i have to get to and immediately once i am there the client will be asking me questions or i will be working to make a good impression for us..
it leaves little time, and by the time i would remember i would already be at home wondering why i havnt had a reply!
someone must know where to point me to find an answer?? i cant be the only one!
i've asked on a few more windows forums to see if anyone knows. ive also had a look through the registry myself to see if there is anything obvious which there isnt..
i'll keep posting back with my findings.
I really understand what you mean. That little thing keeps annoying me too, most of the times I believe I've sent the message but I haven't, leading me to missunderstandings.
My old Nokia n70 didn't have any problems with that....sometimes I miss that phone so much!
Please write down here whatever you find...

no that will not help. threaded sms is a PITA and is not what we are wanting.
yea so im getting no where with this.
its strange because this works fine on WM5
WOW!! When I send a text msg to one of my contacts, and if for some reason that contact didn't get it, the process to re-send it is just mind boggling! Actually, it doesn't RE-SEND it, u gota FORWARD a copy of the text u originally sent to the contact! And the process for that is just.........frickin....crazy! There has got to be something Im not doing right or I'm unaware of the simple "re-send" button that I can't find in the options menu when long pressing the msg. Someone please school me??
Oh yeah, where is the menu buttons to select if I want the msg sent with normal priority, high priority, urgent priority, or whatever. Both of my non-smart phones that I had before this zio had those kind of options, I'm sure this smart-like phone should have the options too, right?

You might try using a different messaging app. I find Handcent works really well for me.

ANYTHING is worth trying, but why should anyone have to. Id think it'd be something that's standard on ANY phone, smart or not. Well, hear I go downloading ANOTHER app again (lowering my internal phone memory even more) just to get something that should come standard. Ill give it a shot, thanks! Gota love this f**kin Zio.

All I do when a message doesn't send is long press on that message, select "copy message text," long press in the text entry box, and select "paste." No need to forward.
There is no re-send option that I'm aware of, nor is there any option for message priority. I never understood what that was all about anyway
For the most part,,, ^^^ what Lukas_s said.. Long press and copy msg text, then paste and resend.
There is not any message priority for SMS and unfortunately there won't be, because of the way the SMS network topology is set up. Unless there is a global rework of the SMS system, or it gets completely phased out by MMS, I dont think we're going to see any changes to SMS.

All sms should be moved to mms, so we get rid of the 160 char splits. I cant figure out why they haven;t done anything about that yet.

YES!! Thanks a lot, it is a lot quicker copy text and pasting then send. One thing I noticed today was, if u open a msg thread and long press one that was sent out then select View Msg Details it'll show date time AND priority: normal. Which has me thinkin that there could be an option to set priority level. Any advice, anyone?
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
Have u seen Ray Charles house, neither has he!
but of course I could not find the answer I want to do a one time transfer of a text message from my captivate to my pc , I don't want to always back up all my text messages or sync it to Google- I just want to save the funeral announcement for my stepfather text that was sent to all family members nationwide to give details of when and where it will be held-some my think it is morbid but i was there when he took his last breathe and for some reason I feel I need to save that text
I know there will be people stating use the search button and i have but have not been able to find an answer i also tried all the search engines and cannot find a free app that I can use once- I don't know maybe it's part of the mourning process as this just happened so I would appreciate any help
thank you,
Harry
Im sorry for what happened
but im not too fimiliar with an app just to back up one txt message
Post this in the Q&A Section
here it is if you missed it
you might get luckier there
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=746
long press on the message> copy text> paste to txt file> save > copy to PC.
or
forward message as email to yourself
thanks all, will just use simplest option as TRussello said just going to email it to my self
or screen shot and send it to your pc
Sorry for your loss. You could use an app called "SMS Backup". This save all your txt msgs and allow you to restore the msgs after reloading your phone.
