1. Its barely visible under direct sunlight but I never found any PDA that actually give you a good vision under that condition.
2. The built-in speaker is loud enough for me even outdoor.

same answers, if it helps. Some users have complained that the speaker is not loud enough, but I think it is too loud. Alas, there are some programs to make it louder if it helps. Cheers!!

1. Bad as hell but it is better if you turn the screen brightness to full.
2. It's ok even tho it's Mono and not Stereo.

1. There are no differences in speed in regards to color.
2. I haven't used the Pure Rom.
3. The sliding mechanism is the best I have ever seen, felt, and used.
4. The Loud Speaker Volume is not loud enough in public places of with the television on. Not suggested for music playback.
No, I have not faced these problems on my X1
Yes, the phone is extremely slow for a Windows Mobile device.
Also, there are more problems that you should be aware of. After a long span of use, the device will show cracks and lose it's paint. Second, the keyboard will lose it's sensitivity within 2 years (phones are suppose to maintain a functional keyboard forever).

Thirded. Ultimately the only major problem I haven't been able to solve either through Sony repair or tweaking is the sluggishness of the phone. I would say that I now have a phone that does nearly everything I want, but it's fairly slow. I also wish the camera and video recording were better, but they are better than what you might expect on a WM phone, I guess.
ps welcome back Orelsi. Where the hell you been???

I second that emotion. Although sometimes excessive I always appreciated the harsh smackdown orelsi would bring to the iPhone trolls that would come here (no offense to rational iPhone owners). It seems they have left us alone now. Perhaps they have gone to Leo forums?

Poor Call Quality

Anyone else here having hissing/crackling in the background on calls with people?
I have checked settings, I'm not roaming, and the phone is stock out of the box.
With the speaker up to highest and 2nd highest setting I can hear hissing and crackling on several calls. People on the other end say they can hear themselves echoing as well.
Tested a Nexus S and iPhone and both don't have the problem.
Wondering if its just a bad device or issue with the quality of the speaker in the phone(which HTC is known for)
To be more specific, the dead air(in between conversation) sounds hissy/crackling.
I can also hear myself in the earpiece when I talk.
Tried same SIM on nexus s and iphone 4(no problems)
erhm.... LOL?
idk where ur livin or what kinda of provider ur using, but im like 100% sure no one in holland or surrounded (since i dont know the state of other country's have this problem)
so no...
Thank you for that informative reply....
Hi! I wrote it before, because i have the same problem in Hungary... People say they dont understand what iam saying... Echoing everytime.. i try it with another sim it wasnt better...
What can we do whit it??? Iam very angry about it!

your very welcome, and most likely its your provider not the phone, forgot to finish my sentence sometimes im busy and forget to add the rest of what i wanted to say.
Turns out, if the volume is turned up anything beyond 50% of the volume rocker, the sound distorts and can hear very low crackling.
With setting 50% and below crackling is not there.
Maybe a blown speaker? Can anyone test this out on their IS so I know whether to swap it out or not.
Thanks
With the higher volume than 70%, i can hear a little crackilng... So, same problem!
Same problem here, but not with all people (60 % problems ; 40 % - OK.), just with some of them (Nokia users in special)

Waiting for new feedback about crackling problem...
Just bought one of these and made first phone call. I always have earpiece volume on full on every phone I have and I could definitely hear a faint but noticeable buzz / distortion from earpiece when other person spoke.
Oh well I've got 7 days to find a fix or it goes back. I wonder if these are faulty units or all incredible s devices do this.
Can owners who don't have this problem at all chime in ?

Loud Speaker hack please anyone?

Hello does anybody know or have a hack to make the speaker louder? I hate to say it but its not as loud especially on the phone call.
Also i already exchanged it for a new phone and pretty much same. Its not mind blowing loud like people say ,,that's hype.
Seriously anyone here may know of a way to update some files to make this ***** louder? My galaxy note 2 have that hack and BOY ITS FREAKING AWESOME MIND BLOWINGLY LOUD LOL
please help
It's pretty loud and it much clearer with bests audio enabled. Sorry to say your deaf and you don't make threads for requests

K c'mon man o I'm deaf now come on man take a look around on Google I'm not the only one that having this problem I've been googling for this phone like I said its loud but its not mind boggling or mind blowingly loud
Please ask these questions in the Q&A section.
the speakers are already pretty darn loud. not really much left to do with them.
I would have to agree that they aren't as loud as I though they'd be. I compared it to an Iphone 4s and it's marginally louder... Now the sound quality on the other hand is much richer than any other phone speaker I've ever heard.
A speaker hack would be awesome, as long as it doesn't reduce the sound quality.

Sorry, have to agree with post that says phone is loud enough.
If you feel it's volume is insufficent then either
1) your volume is turned down
2) your device is faulty
3) possible hearing impairment

I don't wish to get into a slanging match with you, or anyone else. I did consider if my response was wise, and hoped that it wouldn't have elicited the response that it did. You obviously have a very different opinion of loud. I did wonder if I was mistaken and you weren't referring to the HTC One . I haven't been influenced in my opinion by anything I read anywhere, my opinion is based solely on listening to my HTC One through its speakers at various volume settings with music and videos.

You telling me you think you tube video is loud on htc one? Dude you're crazy. You must of seriously doing it in library lol
@OP
There's a sony xloud hack scattered in the xda forums. Once you port it on HTC One it should increase the loudness by multiple levels. Take for example my old 2011 HTC Phone. Just 1 level from the lowest setting could make it already sound loud enough for people to hear it clearly within 3 meters.
Whilst when disabled you can't even hear anything unless you put the speaker in your ear and you'll hear only a tiny sound.
So how do we get it to
work..
?

I don't understand why everybody is bagging on this guy cause I made my first phone call with the phone and I was definitely surprised at how NOT LOUD the volume was. I even tried turning it up... definitely was a little inadequate for my taste. I mean I haven't said much said that was only one call and one call only but I seriously would have preferred the volume to have been louder personally.
the speakerphone during the call definitely way too low
The speaker volume in calls is a little too low, I will give you that, but then we are not trying to use the speaker phone in a crowded room or trying to let every single person on a crowded train hear your conversation.
As for youtube and the music app, I have yet to hear a phone best the volume or quality of the HTC One speakers. Iphone ? HAHAHA please don't make me laugh so much i'll bust a gut!
As for Note 2 volume, sure, it might be loud, but for crying out loud, that phone is HUGE!
I think it is safe to say dude you're a htc one fanboy

no, I don't have this problem.
try cleaning the speakers at the top and bottom gently with a soft toothbrush.
I was asking about rom/unlocked as there are some apps/tweaks you can install to improve sound, but all need root.

Enable Ear Speaker As An Additional Media Speaker

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
langeveld024 has came up with this on this S5 threads : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/themes-apps/soundmod-t2902915
I have tried to use it but found some problem with microphone not working, as such I have edit the mixer_paths.xml to work on my GT-I9506 and so far it's working fine on my 4.4.2 Pre-root deodexed rom with custom kernel from DeHAWK.
It's for my own personal use and would like to share it for those that want to give this a try.
Please do a backup before trying this.
Just unzip the attached file below (not flashable).
The file is at system/etc/mixer_paths.xml, just replace it and give it the correct permission (rw-r-r), reboot.
If you like it, keep it and a simple thanks would suffice.
If it does not work for you, kindly revert back to your original mixer_paths.xml.
You can also change it with some helps from the dev at the above link.
Enjoy!
Thanks to @langeveld024 for this NICE tweaks

Thank you for your concern.
You are not wrong, but every mod to your phone carry with it some risks.
As such, its only for those brave souls.
I guess if you were tweaked and max out the volume of any speakers, most (if not all) speakers will "blowup".
I, myself have not tried to max it out, it's just for my listening pleasure and so far its ok.
Samsung speaker is not that great when compare with Sony or HTC, so there is always a possibility of "blowing up".
Take a look at some of the comments in the S5 thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/themes-apps/soundmod-t2902915/page6
But then again, it's the S5. Could have a better speaker compare to our S4.
Anyway, Use at your own risk
I have an S5 too, and about moding my phone....I know if I root and deodex my phone I will not mess with hardware....soo I have no risk...
What you propose is like overclocking the ear speaker.....the ear speaker are made to be EAR SPEAKER not a regular speaker...
An advice, this tipe of mods are old, since Windows phones like htc hd2 I have those choise...and guess what....most people lose their ear speaker after while (months). but for that users change an ear speaker is easy, but now with tiny speakers and tiny spots and tiny connection, is almost impossible to an regular user change is on ear speaker
