I´ve write a notiz at my laptop and would use it at my hd. After synchronisation and opening of the onenote mobile browser at my touch hd the window is empty and i´m only allowed to open a new notiz. Your issue is that your mobile notes only show up in "unfiled notes." Once you save them to a notebook (or any section thereof, I think), ONM won't see it. I don't understand why MS is sooooo lax on ON's integration with WinMo....no wait, then again, it's Microsoft!!!!

Thanks!
MS world is mostly not compatible with user world ;-)
Any other known application using the same method as ONM?

The Wiki is your best friend. See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Web Browsing, browsers
In general, I recommend Opera Mini 4. That is, start with the OM4 article ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...he FREE(!) Web browser you MUST give a try to ) to see whether it's sufficient for you or you need something better.

<RANT>You really should try to learn how to search.</RANT> Google is also your friend.
As Menneisyys has said Opera Mini 4 is very good, but does have its limitations eg. YouTube

If you REALLY need to use this setup (I'd say it's an overkill in 99% of the cases), let me recommend something that (supposedly) is much faster; for example, LogMeIn.
In the Wiki, I've published some very serious benchmark results of the different desktop controllers; see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC!
I have some important drawing notes on WM side, app Notes, and i can't open them on Windows 7 :-(
There is on problem to open .pwi file on my desktop with Word (Win XP + Active Sync),
but the idea is to make them on shift (WM side ) and open on shift too (W7 side)

you use MS outlook, once you have selected to sync pocket notes in sync manager
What do I do if I do not have Ms Outlook? :-(
My Office 2007 is Home & Student (no Outlook in it - I do not really need it anyway) and my WM device is supplied without Outlook as well - any ideas?
Is there any other app. that would do as Notes but would be easy to open on average Vista or Win7 system?
Any update? I am having a similar issue.
hxxp://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/
Microsoft provide a time-limited trial version of Office. This should at least enable you to synchronise the notes across.

M S office is the only program I can find to read pwi.file that have been hand written..what i do is to drag the note from outlook onto my desk top..open a PDF creating program like "nitro" and conert it to a PDF file then anyone can open it and read and you can also email the note as a pdf...
just use microsoft word or wordpad associate the .pwi with one of those programs.
It will not work :-(
ABC Amber Text Converter is what you guys need to convert the pwi to many avaliable formats
NEXT!
ABC converts the .pwi sketch to PDF format with a giant ABC AD above a STILL not properly decoded batch of code.
Next idea please?

well it might be too late to answer but the solution is
just go to control panel and let the pc be showing the file extensions (i don't think need to tell how)
then go to the *.pwi file and rename it to *.txt (where * is the file name commonly)
and know what you are done
i just figured it out when had this problem ...
cheers !!!
A good referrals whispers1 !!
glad to see you still exist in xda-developers
An alterantive to QuickOffice that will allow you to not only read Word & Excel files, but also edit them?
cheers
If you want to pay there is "Documents to Go" its a great app
Second pimp for DocumentsToGo. It's a great app, but remember that within the confines of a small screen, editing large documents/spreadsheets isn't going to be particularly pleasant!

Dave

isn't it true that docs to go does not support .xlsx and .docx?
Version 2.0 does as far as I am aware.

There you go - supports Office 2007 documents :-D

Hi, Maybe someone can help, I have searched through google, microsoft forums and here - no luck so far :-(
I got Vista Hope Premium, Office 2007 (home and sudent) and X1 ;-), unfortunately Outlook was not supplied with X1 so....
how the hell can I open notes from my phone (*.pwi) on my laptop and desktop?
I am afraid this is lost case :-( seems to me ti was mistake to by WM device instead of Android :-(
HELP! and thanks
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forum...t-read-pocket-pc-word-document-my-laptop.html
found googling for "pwi open on pc office 2007
Seen it already but it has nothing to do with my problem :-(
Vista does not have ActiveSync anymore.
I do not have problem with Word files.
So link you gave me is irrelevant :-(
I have seen almost all there is in the net about pwi files - if no one here knows than simply it is not possible to achieve :-(.
At the moment it is not possible to read *.pwi files in Vista unless one has full Ms Outlook (not supplied with X1) and it is possible to open them in Outlook only not in Windows :-( seems to me that because of that a lot of users is "suffering".

BTW, when I bought my previous HP PDA's there was a copy of Outlook included in the box, I supposed this was included with the Win Mo license but obviously I was wrong.....is some other PDA manufacturer still providing it ?
What do you need, a copy of outlook for PC? or for WinMo?

For PC, to replace Windows Mail, that doesn't support notes, contacts and calendar sync from WinMo devices.
I've just sold my old iPaq on ebay, I should have kept the Outlook installation CD with me !
I do not want Outlook I have spend money (quite a lot) on X1, I bought (earlier) Office 2007 without Outlook as I do not need such a big application just for calendar/contacts and mail (way to confusing). Now, Nots that I love in my X1 are not really usable if I can not open them on my PC, edit, send to someone who just want to click and have them opened.
Is there anything out there that would have the same features but would not require MS Outlook? Almost everyone has Ms Word... so a mobile application whose files could be opened by Word would be great!
Pwi files are only opoened by Ms Outlook - it is not really fair by MS... but.... what can we do? Just buy Android or iPhone next time

I quite agree with you, I would add it's pathetic that MS doesn't include any small PWI viewer/converter in Vista (up to XP, Active Sync did it)
A dirty workaround could be to install Agile Notes as standard Notes replacement on the mobile, as this tool has the capability to save note in RTF format (readable with MS Word)

Why dirty? Could you be more specific?
Will this app. allow me to save text and drawings/hand writing? And than open it as in PDA on PC?

Dirty because RTF format is less compact than PWI and because this tool takes longer to start than the standard note writer (I've installed on my X1 but never used for this reason, when I need to write down a note I need to do it quickly)
Honestly I don't remember if it can save also drawings, just have a look
http://www.agilitylab.com/index.html
BTW: it's also freeware !
I have just installed it. It's ok but! it does not allow for handwriting and drawing :-( This is the most important feature for mi in notes app.
If you guys have anything that will do it and will allow to open itself on PC (without Outlook!!! ), pls let me know.
For normal notes I can always use Word Mobile.
Hi. Does any body know how to transfer an ms excel file from my desktop to HD7.
Officially, I believe it's via skydrive, but I've not quite got the hang of it yet. Your best bet is probably to email it to yourself, to be honest!
I also thought skydrive would be the key, but having been into the Office App a few times I can't figure out where the files would be. All I can see is the option for Sharepoint.
Any info on viewing skydrive office files on wp7 would be appreciated.
Email is the only option at the moment, unless your company uses sharepoint. I think I read somewhere that Skydrive support was being added in a future update.
OneNote does sync very well over skydrive though.
I'm sure I read somewhere that you could get the files from skydrive.live.com via the browser on the phone, but I have no signal here to test. Anyone want to have a go?
Just tested, and actually it does work! Very well infact. Skydrive has quite a nice mobile site. You see a preview of the spreadsheet in the browser and a button to download it to edit on the phone.
I never realised you could download anything from the browser like that!
Check out the Office section page of Paul Thurrott's excellent Windows Phone 7 review:
http://www.winsupersite.com/mobile/wp7_05.asp
I'm hoping improvements will be included in the update early next year.
It would appear that you can download spreadsheets but not word docs from skydrive, still a nice feature! I have set my skdrive mobile page as a tile for ease of access
I can get word docs too. Although they do get squashed up on the phone.
is there a mobile version of the skydrive site as i get the full pledged web page and when I'm out and about might be best to get a simpler one.
Do you have your IE settings to 'desktop version'?
you should use the following:
Settings -> Applications -> Internet Explorer -> 'Mobile Version'.

As soon as i posted i realized i had desktop version turned on, though it would be good if there was an address to go to the mobile page even with it turned on like say www.m.live.skydrive.com or something.
Don't know if I'm right but I thought files could be synced with the zune software? (dont have my win 7 phone in the us yet)
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Sky drive works but the issue with using sky drive is that when you download and save a file on you mobile phone, you cannot manage or place them into different folders. Is there any folder option for managing our documents ?

Nope. The only files Zune can sync would be its own library. Music, videos, podcasts, etc. But no files, pdfs, etc. Essentially, if you can't add it to Zune now (and Zune currently only handles media), there is no way for you to get it on the phone.
That being said, the Windows Phone 7 browser can handle downloading of files, including ZIPs, PDFs, Office documents, etc. So either e-mail yourself a file, or download it through SkyDrive (or another online storage system) through the browser.

Also, not possible at this point in time. They just show up in your Office hub as a list of files. No way to organize them... yet.
