I've been searching for ages but i couldn't fin the answer anywhere: How the HELL can I sync Google Calendar with Windows Mobile? The most conventional way (syncing via email accounts) doesn't work etc. etc.
Any of you people got it to work?
I have no problem, run right out off the box.

Yes, I tried that before, and it didn't work, that's why I started the thread.
Works like a charm, but don't forget to uncheck the "Text Messages" checkbox (only contacts, e-mail and calendar can be synced)

You could try oggsync. Freeware application that works fine.
indeed,
the google google solution is perfect.. Now days they have push sync shizzle for colander and gmail.. Therefore you had to use other option, like me, nuevasync..
good luck!
as well as de-activating the options that are not available to sync i.e. text messages. you also have to activate the calendar service on google to be able to sync it with your phone.
I had a problem when syncing as my calendar on google was not activated against my account. Once i activated the product, it was fine.

Is there a good app anyone can recommend for syncing the diamond with google calendar?

Oggsync.

For manual sync it's free, and works perfect.
Try ActiveGsync (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-activegcsync-v1-0.html)
Haven't tried it personally but I hear positive stuff about this app. It has auto-sync as well and is freeware
goosync.com has a free manual two way sync program that I use
hi, i developed a small tool to synchronize the google calendar with pocket outlook. is a beta but if you want to give it a glance. In future also sync contacts.

I tested many google calendar sync programs. You may have a look at my blog entry here:
http://diamondstouch.blogspot.com/2008/07/google-calendar.html
However I finally gave up and paid for the professional goosync account. The non-commercial programs either don't work, sync only one calendar or work one-way. Since I installed goosync everything works without any hickups: multiple calendars, two-way sync, automatically scheduled. If this is really worth 20 English Pounds (for one year) is another question ...

Activegcsync for Google Calendar (multiple calendars)
Try Activegcsync by Gil Milow. Unlike other software I have tried (eg. GMobileSync), it works very well for multiple calendars (and contacts). It is available free.
http://www.nuevasync.com I just set this up through the exchange server feature in activesync. It is an over the air sync to google calendar and contacts in gmail. (No pictures with the contacts in gmail ) I had a problem with duplicates at first, but I think that was because I was trying oggsync, goosync, and nuevasync at the same time. It appears to be working fine now. There are other options out there, but this one appears to be the easiest and free-est one out there without limitations. I hope you enjoy this as much as I am.
!Backup your stuff with PIM backup or something similar before you sync just in case!
very nice i will try it now
thanks chiles
with this we can now also change devices, roms, etc withoug worrying about PIM data loss

Can you set categories in Google Calendar and it sync over? That's my biggest annoyance, I 'need' categories in order to have PhoneAlarm do specific actions for me based on the event category, such as "Work meeting" quietens everything, but there are some others that set the power on time different, or make the sounds louder, etc.. That all works with using Outlook to sync, but I haven't seen an online solution that works yet.
I haven't tried. I seem to remember that goosync would dumb down your category to the one default category. It might have been an old version or something. Good luck with it though! I just looked and I didn't see any category option on the google calendar webpage.

Well...My contacts lost their pictures on the gmail contacts page. This doesn't keep all of the information. I also lost my throttle contact category information. It's good for a sim card backup tho
I haven't used it myself yet. However, on quick inspection, the settings page recognizes multiple calendars, so it might sync in separate categories. There doesn't seem to be an option to only sync contacts with phone numbers, so I don't want to use it yet because gmail creates new contacts for those you email.
gave it a try and seems to work well! i only sync my calendar(s) and fits to it almost perfectly. the only problem is.. i'm having multiple calendars at my google calendar, and i cannot decide which calendars to sync. anyways that's better than goosync, only one calendar can be selected to sync.. otherwise have to upgrade to pro.. :E
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was using scheduleworld with the funambol client, but that stopped being able to connect. I would like to try to us nuevasync, but for as simple as the setup instructions are my activesync says that "Microsoft exchange did not accept my logon credentials". The server source is setup per the instruction on nuevasync site. I am running the stock ATT rom with WM6.0. I haven't knowingly changed any of my network settings and internet and email still work properly, but I can not get either funambol or nuevasync to work. Any thoughs would be appreciated.

Google Sync on Windows Mobile
Google Sync should work great on Windows Phones, actually. It's very handy to sync your device with your Google account, so you'll be notified of new emails, contacts and calendar items in an instant.
Google's own guide is a bit flawed, though. Here's a detailed tutorial:
How to Set Up Google Sync on Your Windows Phone
Google Sync is down since few days.
Was reported on Wm-Poweruser.
Well, it has worked for me the last couple of days. I flashed a new ROM and synced my device with my Google account today, actually
Mine is working ok but I've noticed that I haven't been receiving emails instantly as of late. Must be down or something. Anyways, you can check if you have the contacts box checked by going to programs>Activesync>Menu>Options.
Google Sync does double up your contacts and for some reason it files a few people by their last names first and first name last. I've tried to change the order many times and it google sync keeps on changing it back. Anyone have suggestions for that?
Hi guys, I just got my AT&T fuze and flashed NATF's 4.4 rom. Everything works just fine except a weird thing after I set up the Google Sync last night.
After Google Sync setup, at the email icon in TouchFlo 3D, it indicates "1" email, while there is absolutely no unread incoming email at all. This remains after I soft reset the phone. Then I tried to delete the Google Sync setting in ActiveSync, but the "1" is still there. Even worse, I then re-set the Google Sync, it turns to be a "2"!!! I even tried to delete all email accounts, but the number is still there even no email accounts were set up.
This problem does not affect any function of the phone but just annoying. Every time I wake up the phone I have to remind my self there is no email...
Does anyone see the same issue? Or how to fix this? Thanks a lot!
Install SK Tools and clear the notification queue.
Jason, I had the same problem. This one "new" email is created automaticly by WM in the Outlook account on your phone and contains instructions on how to use messaging in WM. Just go to the account list on your phone and check the Inbox of "Outlook E-mail". It should be called Windows Mobile E-mail Tips and Tricks.
Problem solved, thank you guys a lot!!!
Hi I just received my galaxy, so possible a NOOB problem.
The problem is that I have a google calendar, and on my phone it sees both the appointments I have done on the phone and the google appointments - so this is fine.
If I make a appointment via a computer at the net on the google calendar, then it will show up on the phone calendar - this is fine.
BUT if I make an appointment on the phone - it will not show up on the google calendar on the net.
It seems like the phone uses "My Calendar" which is not synced with the google calendar - so have I missed a setting somewhere?
Thanks
When you did the calender mark did you choose google calender and not the phone calender?? take a close look so u have choose that before apply the appointment/mark in the cal. when you set the day/clock under that you can choose what calender to use....I missed that too...
Ok thanks - found the setting.
Is it possible to change the behaviour, so that when you make an appointment on the phone it is by default using the google calendar and not the phone calendar?
I dont think you can set it as default..not sure. With some app maybe? I just have my Galaxy for 4 days so everything is new
Thanks, compared to me you are very experienced (had mine for 1 day)
I would also be interested in a way to change the default.
Additionally I'd like to have the automatically created birthday events appear in one of my Google calendars, not in the phone calendar. Has anybody an idea on how to do that?
It says "with Google" on the phone, if I'm selling my soul to Google, at least I'd like to do it completely and thoroughly.
I'm syncing with my Yahoo Calendars, my 2 Gmail account Calendars
also contact from those 3 accounts too, and IM from MSN, google, yahoo, tweeter, facebook
this phone is Amazing! at keeping everything in sync
just make sure on the account page your accounts are all with the Green sync circle
