Ordnance Survey - OS Map v1.2 released [FREE!] - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

OS Map 1.2 now available!
Changes in this version:
Bug fixes:
* Fixed waypoint compass - now points in the right direction. Ahem.
* App no longer crashes if no location sources available (e.g. GPS and Wireless Locations turned off).
* Spelling of "Centreing" altered following widespread criticism.
* "Loading" screen no longer gets stuck. Hopefully.
New features:
* Search - returns results from the Ordnance Survey Gazetteer, ordered by distance.
* Waypoints updated to allow custom names (thanks to Simon Harper for suggestions).
* Quota checking (Preferences -> Check Remaining Quota).
* Added emergency position information if no internet connection - this provides your current grid reference for location on a paper map or the emergency services.
* Option to keep screen on while getting position fix (power on/off works as normal).
* Customise information text colour
* Disable loading screen (bug should be fixed, but added option anyway).
* Android 1.6 (Donut) compatible.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Old waypoints will not be saved when upgrading. It is recommended that important points are copied out and reinserted into version 1.2 using the grid reference.
Screenshots:
Features:
* Nearly all OS Map scales available (including 50,000).
* Touch-scrolling - simply use your finger to drag the map around.
* Fast resume from standby and fast position updates.
* No subscription fees - uses the free OpenSpace API.
* Custom waypoint support.
* Custom server support - modify the layout.
* Get your location as a grid reference.
* Includes a moving, overlaid magnetic compass!
* Smooth panning.
* Detailed location information.
How to get it:
OS Map is completely free and available to download from the Android Market, Slide Me, and my own server. If you already have version 1.1, running the "Check For Updates" option will automatically update you to 1.2.
Donations:
OS Map is took a lot of time and effort to develop, and is available for free. If you find the application useful and are able to make a donation, I'd really appreciate it. Donate here.

Oops - fixed now.

Incidentally, if you're seeing this situation, you have two options:

1. Email Ordnance Survey and request that they increase the tile quota for free applications. The limit is arbitrary, and since OS is a government-funded organisation, probably unnecessary. This is my preferred option.
2. Make significant changes to the publicly available server-side code (as per the Developer Agreement) and use the custom server support in the application. You must not (and I do not encourage it) do this purely to circumvent the quota restrictions imposed by Ordnance Survey.

Thanks very much for your continued work, David.

I have installed this myself and it works fine. Not the greatest app in the world, and most reviews on it suck thus far, but it does have potential IMO, I suggest you try for yourself.

Q:Why MapQuest, when we already have Google maps
A:Some people don't like Google, some may like the interface better, may want to use it as a backup for searches (in case you get some bad results from Google Maps), may get better performance out of it (lighter than Google Maps), there's no end to the possibilities!
Q:Wouldn't this slow my phone down? Especially being I already have G-maps, and several other navigation apps installed.
A:It's way smaller than you think AND moves to the SD card, so it's not much of a commitment or memory hog.

[APP] Sola Bible -[R]- 2010-11-09 -[U]- 2011-10-26 -[V]- 1.9

Name: Sola (aka Sola Bible)
ht tp://jm2k.me/sola (still new to xda so I can't post links)
It started out from the launch of WP7 as the only bible app to provide the ESV translation, which we use a lot at my church. There are a few more available now, including the official one, though Sola still holds its own as an efficient way to read and move around the bible. Priority for this app is to maintain its responsiveness and ability to jump quickly between passages.
It currently requires your data connection for the ESV, NET and a few other translations. All public domain versions, such as KJV and a few others, are now available without using your data connection. More translations will become available as copyrights permit.
I'd also like to hear feedback about what you'd look for in a bible reader, and I will work towards including what you want in the app. Leave your comments and feedback below.
Features include:
* Reading chapter-by-chapter
* Versions: ESV, NET, KJV and many other English translations, plus a few original Greek and Hebrew versions
* Daily reading plan for covering the whole bible over a year or the NT over a month
* Search option for a few of the translations (including ESV)
* Play audio reading for the ESV
* A section for prayers - for personal records and for public posts about the thing you have been praying about
Features planned:
* NIV and NLT translations - copyrights holding me back at the moment
* More audio versions - have had some positive feedback about this feature
* Offline versions - at least for the public domain versions e.g. KJV
* More daily reading options - e.g. whole bible over 2-3 years etc
* Contextual links for the search result - to bring you to the chapter the result comes from
* Live tiles - for bible verse of the day or reminders to do daily bible reading.

The v1.7 update has now been placed in the marketplace. It includes a place to note personal prayer and thanksgiving, share these publicly, additional reading plans and streaming audio for the ESV version.
The v1.9 update has now been placed in the marketplace. All public domain versions, such as KJV and a few others, are now available without using your data connection.
Thank you for your hard work. I could not find how to download a version to read off line.
how about quick resume? ive been looking for one but i cant seem to find one :/

[App][2.2+] Grand Theft Auto Vice City Cheats

I would like to introduce an application that provides with Vice City cheats for Android devices. Application provides with on-screen button that displays all available cheats when pressed. The 'Cheats' button can be easily accessed from the game. Once the cheat has been picked from the list, it will be displayed at the top of the screen as well as the keyboard which will allow user to type in the code.
Benefits:
* Quick access to all available cheats
* Button with transparency to make sure that underneath content can be viewed
* Cheats are nicely categorised
* By pressing the cheat from the list, the code that needs to be typed in will automatically appear, along with the keyboard, on the top of the screen for 10 second so that there is no need to keep the code in mind
* If we already know code for the cheat and just want to display the keyboard, there is a button for that too
* Application can be easily disabled from the cheats list
Permissions:
*Draw over other apps - It is needed to have the 'Cheats' button displayed on the top of the game
Please note that:
* Some cheats might crash the game
* Some cheats might not be working on Android version of GTA
Disclaimer:
All associated logos, images and video games are trademarks of Take 2 Interactive Software, Inc. This is an unofficial cheats application and I am not affiliated with developers or publishers of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Regards :victory:
EDIT 09/04/13: I have updated this thread as I have uploaded new apk package as the previous one was including copyrighted image.
The best vice city cheats app for android.Nice design and it's inexpensive.Works great on my Sony Xperia Z!:good:
wow, It's ok
I Love this game in smart phone
thanks :good:
I'm glad you like it
My app got removed for copyright issues I guess it was because of the image that was appearing on a splash screen. I have uploaded new apk package which doesn't include the copyrighted images.
It seems as though this link (to the updated version) is no longer good, or has itself been pulled. Is there a further iteration of the program or a direct download of the APK available?
I'd be extremely pleased if I could get my hands on something like this without either being asked to pay or forced through a half-dozen labours. I'm amazed by how difficult it turns out to be to get something relatively simple like this (invoke input/send string, essentally) done given the various workarounds that need to be implemented to do it (not to mention how awful and scary are the popular listed solutions/keytrainer IMEs in the Play store; how some of those malware-boats can be tolerated is beyond me) without either being able to write code or jerry-rig a chain of resource-intensive device-based solutions.
very good job
You post has made VC so entertaining...
Very Good Job

Nice job. Thanks
Thank you
I love to play on the smartphone Vice City

[TOOL][UTIL][FREE] AndroidActivities - Get ComponentInfo + Url - For themers

AndroidActivities is a small site which provides required information for icon themers.
It provides the ApplicationName, PackageName, ComponentInfo, IconUrl (for PlayStore apps) and everyone can use it for FREE!
The project consist of the site (activities.tundem.com) and a companion app (ApplicationReader)
The site is here to search and find, and the app is required to fill the database with the apps information (there is no api to get these information from the Google Play Store)
My db isn't that huge right now, but the more people who install the ApplicationReader app and upload their apps, the better this service will get!
=== activities.tundem.com ===
[*] Find all available apps
[*] Search for available apps
[*] Get PackageName by AppName
[*] Get ComponentInfo by PackageName/AppName
[*] Get IconUrl by PackageName/AppName
=== ApplicationReader ===
[*] Upload all your apps information
[*] Upload app information of a single app
[*] View the information of your apps
[*] AutoUpload new apps (Everytime you install an app it will upload it)
=== General ===
If you would love to see any (new) features, changes.
Please report here in this thread and i will try to bring it to you!
I tried to make the process as easy as possible.
[1.] Load the site activities.tundem.com
[2.] Search for an app
[3.] Copy the required information
There's also a really small api for devs who need the information as json.
You can find the api here: api.activities.tundem.com/get
Here's the list of possible params:
[*] q= - Search for a searchterm
[*] e= - Search for an exact match
[*] l= - Limit the results
[*] i= - Set this param to get the icon url (only for play store apps)
[*] o= - Order by. Possible values: ("new")
Sample: api.activities.tundem.com/get/?q=com.android.gallery3d&i=true&o=new
You can beautify / tidy it here if you like: json.format.tundem.com/
[*] None right now
activities.tundem.com
ApplicationReader

I've just pushed a big update of the app to the play-store. (It should be available within the next minutes/hours not sure how fast google is with updating their servers right now)
Version 0.2.0 fixes the issue with UTF-8 characters not displayed correct.
It also adds a few more functions like refresh...
Please let me know what should be improved.
So another update to this tool
The website got a few small tweaks.
-> Right-Click on an element to maximize it
-> Click in a textfield to copy it (you have to click on the alert on top -> it's a hack browser disallow direct clipboard copying)
-> Show count of packagenames (applications) and componentinfos (applications can have more than one componentinfo)
---> This count will auto-refresh all 5 minutes
You can get the count too via the api:
api.activities.tundem.com/count/?p=true for the packageNameCount
api.activities.tundem.com/count/?c=true for the componentInfoCount
For all those who follow this thread there's a new small hack to get a search and find only view if you just want to work
Follow this link and be happy!
-> http://activities.tundem.com/?only=true
(If you link the site back anywhere please remove the only param so those people see the normal site!)
Oh and for those who use it. Perhaps some feedback would be great. I know there are users because i get e-mails and yeah.
I can't believe there's so few responses on this post for such a useful app and accompanying online service. You don't even have to copy and paste or email the information from the ap to your desktop (where you would be making your theme, usually), just touch "upload this" and then you can search for the previously unavailable app in the search engine and it will be available now! Also the app doesn't ask for any special permission so you know there isn't any dirty business underneath. Thanks!
I will just suggest that you somehow highligt that swiping from left to right brings the "all the apps" menu. I know that after a while the side bar shows temporarily but before this people just see the "upload all" button which might make people feel unease of touching before seeing what information about apps they're actually uploading. You're clearly following the google android UI design conventions, which is good, but I think many people aren't used to them yet.
Nice Idea..!
But I am feeling tired searching for each app and some time not able to find right info. for example if I search for Youtube it gives me all other tubes! but not youtube!!
Wouldn't it be great help/idea if your app generates one text file or xml file in internal storage itself!? That should have all or atleast componentinfo required by most themers.
