I'm at a complete loss here. The only recent ROM that I've been able to get SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 to work well on is the Christian's ROM - and that's because it is already cooked in. When I try to install it in any of the other ROMS the menu bar at the bottom of the screen persists and covers up my mobile shell (see pic). I can't seem to find anyone else with this problem. Am I missing something?
Nope, they changed the design in the later WM6.5 builds.
Use 23016 rom if you don't want that issue.

I'm also using the newest builds but don't have the problem.
It's working fine in my rom. Don't know what it is sorry
Great. Thanks.
if i remember there is a leak panel from korea with spb 3 but it is in korean, you will need to tweak it into english - the guide is provided in that thread. just search the xda x1 application forum. with that you can install spb 3 in any rom as long as there is support for x1 panels in the rom.
here is the linky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541280&highlight=spb+mobile+panel
spb3 looks neat can i install it on energy roms latest build?

Yeah, been all through that thread. That is the panel I have installed, and I have converted it to English as instructed. No luck. For now I'm using a WM6.1 ROM with no problems.
No problems with NRGZ28 Leo ROM. Love the 3d carousel!
well then cont with christian rom with build in spb3 - it's a very good rom anyway. i forgot which rom i tried the korean spb panel but it was working then
I'm using SpikeGotti's "Xperia 6.5 UnOff v3" ROM. It's based on the older 6.5 build before the big bottom screen buttons. Stable for day-to-day use and SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 works nicely.
Just installed MS 3.5 tonight. Looks great and works well so far.

Hi, I have read a lot about ROMs for Xperia, but I couldn't find any special one that is:
- very stable
- and lite/light
- with the latest bug fix
If you have any suggestion about the ROM matching this needs ?
Note: I don't need to have Panels, or TouchFlo.
if you need an english rom, then use jack's lite rom
Yes, I forgot to mention, I want an English ROM.
So the jack v2.1 lite, I will have take a look at it
Yes, I would definitively suggest you the Jack v2.1

JL's v2.1 lite is excellent - very fast, stable and leaves lots of Storage and RAM free. No TouchFlo, Cube, Manila or other pseudo-iphoney fluff
I've used it for about 4 days now with no issues, upgraded from v1.04 Lite
Use radio 1.10.25.18 (in the ROM sticky). Apart from installing my own apps, the only addition I've used is the "blue" WVGA Commmanager from an Itje thread
Only gripe (and nothing to do with the JL ROM), is the absolute lack of VGA phonepad skins that are not black.
I have tried jack ROM, good as far as now
Jack spanish?
Im sorry for posing this question, im not trying to pollute this forum or anything. Ive been doing some searching but i couldn't find a rom that i like. This is my first time trying to flash new rom.
Im looking for a 6.5.1 lite rom with titanium and maybe the latest version of touchflo or sense!
Can anybody point me to such rom or a similar one? thanks
Hallo There
After few months of trial and error ,i think i have tried all the ROMs overhere..but only 2 days back i have found this ..it's excellent..fast, stable, showing the real pwoer of your X1. Give it a try..highly recommende by my self ..
ROM with real 6.5 XIP (SYS 21874 / EXT 21874) Rhodium shipped rom port / Manila_2_1_19201317_0

Hopefully you would like it.
Have a good day.
If you prefer WM 6.5.3 like I do Christian's ROM seems to be most stable plus has the Original Xperia X1 dialer which is my preferred dialer as it has better logs and dialing is so much easier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542664
If 6.5.1 is ok both spikegotti and gtrab have excellent stable ROMs.
[100% CLEAN WM6.5][2009-11-30] ***Xperia UnOff Series - Infinite & Xperia X1.5***
[ROM] PURE Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade for the SE XPERIA X1 [26 NOV 09 | SEX1 R5.07]
There are other good ROM's like Energy and Valkyrie FireStorm but somehow I could not get them to be stable for even a day after customizing with Titanium Plugins and Themes.
I prefer two Titanium Themes
WM 6.5 Titanium Theme "Bliss"
WM 7 Titanium Project
Of course, there are probably several more good ROMs but you really have to try them out. For example, I like how the fonts, email, etc look in one ROM but don't like the dialer or it's some other features I love but there is one feature I hate, etc. Play with them all. In the end you will find the most stable one that is close to your liking and will have to settle with it even though there is something better in another ROM .
Thanks for replying so fast, i will give your recommended roms a go.
Xda people are really good
Wow, this topic has simply answered my doubts and questions on which is the suitable ROM for me to use.. I've tried a few version like Touch-IT, Valkyrie, and EnergyROM those eye catchy ROM.. it's really pretty but it's way too lag for a fast user like me.. no patience left to wait for 3-4 seconds to read/create a message!
Ooh ooh i have another question. Do i have to back up my stock rom? I dont think ill need it later.

There is no best.. It depends on what you like, almost every wm6.5 rom is stable lately.
Try valkyrie 5.2 if you want TouchFlo on it
Untamed if you don't like the new TouchFlo and want the old and more stable TouchFlo
and UnOff if you want just wm6.5 with al the original Xperia X1 stuff
last but not least: X2 Beta Test rom 9d or UnOff X1.5 if you want all the X2 stuff on it (less stable)

This guy is right. Be careful that the bottom taskbar of 28XXX builds (start + softkeys + X) are on top of applications that aren't fullscreen (a few pixels, so you won't see the full app). I suggest you flashing a 21xxx build so you won't have any compatibility issue.
Cheers!
I wanted to know if someone has , or knows of an untouched version of a WM6.5 rom for the Viva, similar to the wm6.1 that comes with the phone,at least in terms of installed stock programs, since I've tried every ROM available, but the most of them, doesn't have the phone pad with t9 in spanish, nor any of the standard keyboards and since I use spanish as my native language, I really need it.
And many of the available ROMS has too many tweaks that affect battery life, or some bugs that cannot allow the volume rocker to be locked, to mention some bugs.. I'd love to to cook a rom for my viva, if I knew how to do it, but since I don't know...
Thanks, pals!
Frank.
I think Jagan's Evolution Ultimate Beta is what you're looking for. It's not customized, and it's pure and light, and doesn't have any of the bugs you mentioned. You can flash it and customize it to your liking.
It doesn't have a Spanish keyboard, but you could use the original EzInput 1.5 keyboard (the same one as the stock 6.1 ROM). It has Spanish support with T9 too.
Download it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426281
CAUTION: The EzInput version 2 might cause some problems on WM6.5 so I recommend you install the older version 1.5 only!
You could also try FingerKeyboard which provides support for many languages including Spanish. Get it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501434
Good luck.
Ok, I've tried it, and I can't get to work Manila 2d & EZinput on it... any hints? Since I've already downloaded the Cab's but it doesn't work at all...
Try downloading this cab:
http://www.4shared.com/file/YW2_fEqG/BJK_HTC_EzInput_QVGA_EN_FR_DE_.html
It works for me, and I can switch languages and other keyboards. But make sure you uninstall all the previous keyboards before trying this cab.
As for Manila 2D, try the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541750
Carefully follow the instructions there to make it work on your device. Other users have tried it and it works for them. I didn't try it myself because I'm using SPB Mobile Shell instead of Manila 2D so I don't know if it's going to work with you or not.
In case it doesn't work, why don't you try flashing the Evo 2.5A ROM?
Thanks for the support, GFX! I've finally got all to work! I've used the tools you posted on your first reply, for some reason I couldn't do it before.. strange.. All worked out like a charm after a 2nd reflash...weird, huh? Well, I appreciate your effort, thanks a lot!
Frank.
PS: Do you know if Manila 1.2 is available for WM6.5?

You're welcome!
Glad it worked out with you.
Enjoy your Viva..
Well,I'll give some feedback:
After some testing, tweaking, hard-resetting and so, I decided to give up TOUCHFlo,and stick to WM6.5's normal gui, since it Manila doesn't work well on wm6.5 viva, manila 2d 2.0 after full installing, it becames too heavy for the phone, it gives ~35mb of free memory, manila 2d 1.2 has better performance, around ~70mb of free memory, but is a beta and it's not complete, since many of the tabs don't work.
I've tried almost any WM6.5 rom posted here, and in other forums, like the PhamQuang ones (from V21 to V27), the older evolution series (Evo,Evo+,Evo ESN,Evo2, Evo2.5A), Angel Azul, Angel negro, and some others I don't remember. This is the most stable rom that I've tested, it's fast, almost bugless, and clean, GFX was right. I totally recommend it.
By the way, which UI do you use? I want some fast & lightweight one.

Happy Thanksgiving guys! Been thankful for the helpful tips and tricks with my lovely X1 I bought last year's Black Friday event!
Quick question.
How do I get Cookie's Home Tab to work on my Win6.1 platform? I read on that you need Manila or Sense 2.5, any download links for those will help. Search function, yes, but I dont know which one pertaining to 6.1!
Thanks in advance
Maybe I'm wrong but I guess you'll need to flash another ROM incl. Sense... AFAIK Sense is not available as "installable application".
1. hardSPL
2. download new ROM (e.g. Energy ROM, see link in my signature)
3. flash from SD (instructions here)
^Thanks, just got it done yesterday. Installed Valkyrie rom, but it came with outdated 1.8 ver. instead of 2.0 D:
Valkyrie is a bit dead rom meaning that agent is developing only if major updates take place. I was ex-valkyrie-fun. However I believe that he has released a rom with cht2 (at least beta version).
why dont u try energy rom? it has for sure what you need...

I switched from Valkyrie to 826x. 826x had no additional add-ons, just the ROM upgrade, so it was really convenient to switch. Now running CHT + Editor 2.0.0.
Still trying to get use to the low battery fluctuations compared to a Stock ROM, but loving the new interface and programs it can run now!
