Would you be able to run the windows apps needed through WINE? I dont know if they would have issues with hardware communication etc but migh be worth looking into.

Unfortunately it is not possible to flash with OS X. I have an Intel Mac running Bootcamp with Leopard and Windows XP. I flash my phone after re-booting into Windows XP.

Possibly under emulator, but the flashing process is so timing-sensitive that I don't know if it would work. You could try it, but if it gets stuck mid-flash, you'd then HAVE to find a PC to complete a successful flash.
that's a possibility. i was hoping there was a specific way of doing this with the MAC. virtual PC doesn't really seem like a good idea to me.
thanks for the suggestion,

it's possible with Mac Intel
If you have a Mac Intel there are 2 ways:
1) Use bootcamp and install Windows XP, check www.apple.com/bootcamp
2) Use parallels, a very good/fast Virtual Machine, and install Windows XP, chek www.parallels.com
no intel nooooooooo....
unfortunately i have no intel mac at this time and don't plan on getting one. waiting for the new desktop to come out first. any other thoughts?

What about SD Flashing?
I'm looking to get an mda, and this would be a deciding factor.
Hi,
I do help someone can advise me. I am in the difficult position of having borrowed an O2 XGAii and having the hubris to try and upgrade the bios. The process failed and now the device is completely dead and wont respond in any way. The owner is asking for it back. Any clues on how I can fix it or even who I can take it too in Sydney, Australia to fix it for me?
Thanks in advance
erm i suppose u mean a xda2 or the xda2i?
as this is the forum for the xda2i
if the device is showing boot loader on the screen then just rerun the update but not on a pc running windows vista or it will fail, u have to use a xp or xp pro pc. you will find the bios updates in the forums, but make sure you are sure which pda you have.
Hey guys,
I have been searching for about a week and I have not found the answer to this question. Sorry if this is a repost!!!
Does anyone know if it is possible to flash tilt with a new rom using windows 7?
I do know that I can use an SD card but prefer to flash it from a desktop "if possible"
Thanks,

Why wouldn't it be possible ?
Win & uses WMDC
I haven't seen any documentation on this so I am not sure what I need in order to set that up. Is there a reference or FAQ on how to do this? or what utilities I need?
just flash as usual... only thing change is they used to call activesync, but now it is windows mobile device center. i dont think you need any specific documentation...
Ah, no wonder I haven't found anything then. Nothing really has changed!!
Thanks for clearing it up for me.
Hmm I just tried flashing a rom and it told me that I needed a newer update utility. I searched the forum and didn't see anything. Any ideas where I can find a new KaiserCustomRUU.exe?
Moved as not ROM Development.
Regards new flashing utility there isn't one but the issue you mention has been covered before can't mem the fix.
Easiest way leave out comp and use SD.

Hello XDA
Well this is my first thread in this form and i m really optimistic about getting the required help. Many of the users would have already recognised my problem about WDMC 6.1. Its been a pain in the ass from last 3 weeks finding a solution that why my HTC HD7 is not recognised by wdmc, I have been trying everything like attaching my phone in different pc and lappys but it still doesnt work. Can anyone help me to fix these problem so that i can flash custom roms on my phone. Sorry for my bad English.

please anyone......
WMDC is for Windows Mobile
Not Windows Phone 7 or 8.
You must use Zune for the music, photos and videos.
You want custom Roms?

You are doing it WRONG! WMDC is not needed for that matter.
Good luck.

honestly the ''easy'' way is not to use a windows 8.1 computer.
try with a win 8.0/ win7 or a linux live cd (ie ubuntu) like in this thread
ok i think i will do that ive tried everything else thanks for the heads up
