Hello, I need help, I have HTC touch pro, and wanna watch video, but I don't know video converter programs, can you give my link?
Try out this:

They are all for free.
Which ones quality/size ratio is highest? I've been using pocketdivx but if other give better results why not change...
You should give 'Double Twist' a try
It doesn't give you a ton of options if you want the video in a certain format, but it's extremely easy to use.
Just plug your phone in (and let activesync/WMDC sync it) and it will show up in double twist. Than you just drag and drop a video on your phone - it converts it and transfers it to your video folder!
Couldn't be easier.
The one in this link is the best I ever used; simple, fast and good quality. I really recommend it. For the Touch Pro I always use 640x480 resolution.

Try Format Factory. It's free and you can convert just about anything. I've used it for a while and I don't have any complaints
i use coreplayer.. what format should i use so i can watch videos without it skipping?

Ok. I've been trying to get this program (DVD to Pocket PC) working properly, with no success.
I downloaded the demo version, and it 'started' to make a 5 minute copy of a DVD. It ripped the DVD, then crashed when attempting to turn the MPG file into a WMV file. I was able to manually convert the file to WMV format, and it ran on the XDA.
The problem is, the program doesn't work anymore. I can't get it to rip ANY more DVD's, not even the same DVD I used initially.
I love the idea of the program, and was really looking forward to buying it if it worked properly. I have a shiny new 512MB SD card just begging to be used.
Does ANYONE out there have the actual, whole version of the program that they can tell me about? I have been burned before buying badly written Pocket PC programs, and don't want that to happen again. If someone can loan me the full version so I can evaluate it, I'd REALLY appreciate it!
I just want to make sure the program works properly. The demo seems to be really flaky.
Thanks.

The demo crashes for me too at the same stage you described, so I uninstalled the damn thing and moved on.
I'm using Win2K, and this may be my problem - the website says XP only. Whatever. Can't be bothered.
I guess this program must work - otherwise, why do they sell it? Crashing halfway through is an obvious bug, no?
I have the full version, running on xp pro, it works flawlessly, I leave a dvd in the drive overnight and in the morning I have a film for transferring to sd or cf card, never crashed on me either.
That's interesting.
I am also using XP Pro, and like I said in the previous post, the program (demo) 'started' ripping the DVD, then promptly crashed at the point when it was supposed to be converting it to WMV. I was highly disapointed to say the least.
I even tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling. The exact same thing occurred.
I'm using the full version on WindowsXP, and it's GREAT!! 8) 8) 8)
I uninstalled it again and reinstalled, and now it's working properly. VERY cool. I think it's worth the $25.00.
I also have the full version of this software, worth every penny
One thing worth mentioning is the Step 2 Only option from the Special menu
If the program doesn't complete the final step of converting to WMV, just select the Step 2 only option and it'll finish off
You can also trick it into converting any mpeg files into wmv by renaming them to DVD.mpg, placing them in root c:\ and running a Step 2 Only
Very useful for TV episodes, as it compresses Simpsons episodes to 30mb
I think I saw this software in PC Magazine. Are you saying that you can download an entire Movie DVD onto your PDA?
Yep,
It compresses a 90minute movie to approx. 128mb
so increase the size slightly for longer films
i've had two 90minute films no problem on a 256mb SD card, and haven't had any issues with slow load time or memory problems
Hope this helps
How do you download the DVD? Can you give me kind of a dumb guys version. I'm a bit new to this stuff.
Also, maybe I can ask you... I can't seem to open images with TIF extensions?
how to make a dvd small enough to fit on your 512MB sd card
http://www.makayama.com/dvdtopocketpc.html
the easist way to open tif is to use
irfanview to change the picture from tif to jpg
otherwise maybe this program does it

This is slightly off the thread, but...
I personally thought that $25 was a bit steep for software that just rips a DVD, and then uses freely available microsoft tools to convert it into a small file. Theres a whole load of free stuff available that will do all this.
Another problem I had with the software is that it is not configurable. The demo 5 minute video I produced had a frame rate of 20 fps. The playback was noticably jerky. I would be prepared to suffer a 25% increase in file size for 25fps.
I would recommend anyone thinking of buying this software to check out the following free tools, to see if you can't get a result as good or better:

If the video files don't play in the built in media player, check out...

Ok I am a newcomer so many of you may think this a simple question ..but .. how can I transfer my dvd films onto my kaiser? I have read a few threads about converting video formats and have downloaded a copy of Pocket Divx which I hope is a step in the right direction. What now? I admit to being confused by talk of bit rates etc so can someone provide a simple step by step method? What about copyright protection - is it possible to copy feature film dvds anyway, must be way I suppose. Optimistic thanks in advance.
http://www.pocketgear.com/en_US/html/display_product.jsp?id=prod5790538
It converts to WMV so no need for DIVX.
Try reading some of these guides. www.videohelp.com is a great website full of guides.
If you want though there are programs out there that can directly do this for you and optimize it for mobile phone screens but i havent encountered any that are free. PocketDivxEncoder is useful if you already have avi movies that you want to re-encode into a more mobile friendly resolution and/or bitrate.
Hope this helps.
edit: Im assuming here that you want them in AVI's. You can play AVI's on a pocket pc with TCPMP. Google for it if you dont have it.
thank you for the link Slave1, had a look at the software, no mention of WM6 compatability - will it work, any idea?
thank you too for the link ga41. Will have a look see later when I'm not supposed to be working. (I'm self employed and my boss has work avoidance guilt issues.)
Try a converter named 'SUPER'...it converts video to any format and lets u control the frame rates, size etc....
For any other converter u already have :
1.] Start the converter software > open any video u want to convert (either drag and drop OR using File>Open>....)
2.] Adjust the settings for video conversion....for the kaiser, Size: 240 x 320 pixels,Frame rate : 30 fps,Format of video :H.264/MPEG 4/WMV (these r the basic settings,play around later for advanced settings)
3.] Press convert for the finished product and transfer it to ur Kaiser....Enjoy!!
[Copy right protection depends,if ur converter can load the video and convert it then i dun think there shoud b a problem....]

Hey guys,
I want your help, actually i am looking for a good video editor which let me cut the videos or edit or remove some part of it. Or just a cut a small part of the video. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Sony Vegas. It's my zen.
I thinks its on version 8.
Cyberlink Power Director 7 just got some good reviews in PC Magazine. There's a trial version (30 days I think) that you can download.

M-2 Edit Pro is a very easy one to work with, but only with MPG
The recent Joyoshare VidiKit (originally Joyoshare Media Cutter) can be a good option for you to try. It does well in cutting videos and removing some parts. The whole process ensures lossless quality and high accuracy. Notably, aside from video cutting, this comprehensive toolkit can even join, convert, record, repair, compress, watermark, edit, etc. in a professional manner. You deserve it and can give a shot!
Video recording app now in the market, tested and works ok overall but no sound. To stop recording hit back button. Very buggy!!
watts da name of it
yeah it's working well.
very, very buggy mind you, alot of force closing but, hey, it works i suppose.
quality's not too bad but it's really slow, so as long as you keep still it works fine
i'll get a little video uploaded to show you.

Been trying to find it myself, all it has in the program file is a bunch of blank pics! Man its a start but buggy as hell!!!
on the website it says there's gonna be an update in the next 2-5 days so lets hope the bugs get ironed out. also i'd quite like to see more stable recording and sound
but maybe i'm asking too much
Interesting. Pity about the bugs and no sound, but it's a start, which is very good.
Good start. Bring on the updates.
Keeps asking to update! very annoyin
i saw this app today, for some reason decided not to download it
but its a "good" start
hope to see this being updated constantly.
How could u not even try it out .
I grabbed it as soon as physically possible.
It needs a lot of work.
And yes, MJPEG
Really needs some work haha.
EDIT: I just realized that my post has a lot of smilies
Update Released!
New update with a much cleaner interface. The videos are stored(i use this loosely) onto the sd card in /.org.android7/videorecorder. Uses about 16m for 10 seconds of video. The audio works as long as you also have the VoiceClient installed, it's not very loud but it's there.
After opening the app press record to open the recorder window(your not recording yet) hit menu-record to record and the same to stop recording.
I'm curious how the recording is working? It would be nice to at least be able to re-assemble the recordings on my machine.
In the video folder there are two file types blah.3gp [16kb] (appears to only be the audio) and a group of blah.jpg [~225kb] images (tho these are not viewable even on my pc?) any ideas?
The videos it makes are not viewable on any of the other viewers on android either. (the only thing it's really missing)
Well, it seems to get better with updates.
2 things i realized...
1) When you replay a video after you record it, it plays like its on fast-foward or 2x.
2) If you delete a video from your phone, the video gets deleted(Why is 30 seconds of recording 32 Megs by the way?) BUT the audio files from the video(which the file type is .jpg also, weird?)stays in the anroid7.org folder so they never really delete, you have to manually go in there and delete them when you USB to your comp.
Either way, i consider the effort and applaud him for the first video recording app of its kind on the android OS, i see potential in the future.
built-in video player?
I'm confused.. I know g1 doesnt have a built-in icon for video player but i just noticed that i can open a video file using an astro file manager (unless astro has a video player itself).. it has an auto-rotate function too and looks like the Video Player in the Market.. hhmm.. And currently, I dont have any video player program installed in my G1... Can someone clarify this?
Ya, I've tried rebuilding the 'video' into something useful. The Audio file name is xxxxx.jpg.3gp (amr i believe) and the images 225k each ~2/sec don't appear to actually be .jpg, nor can i get them open with .gif .bmp .jpeg .png as extensions
this is on windows, maybe they'll turn up something more promising on *nix.
I quit testing this.
It's not encoding nothing only take fast pics and save de audio on 3gp format.
It's good to see that we can take pcitures so fast because this show us the real posibilities with this cam on HTC G1.
Google has to build something using the internal h264 posibilities of decode/encode(i guess) to encode the pics and audio on real time(too heavy processing ?)
Till that time....just wait and see
It CAN.
WinMo guys did.
Prove me wrong.
HTC Touch Diamond T-mobile G1
Main specs:
Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU
192 MB of RAM 192 MB of RAM
3.2 MP Camera, no flash 3.2 MP Camera, no flash
OS: WinMo OS: Google Android
Videorecording:
352x288x30fps None.
So:
1) It is definately technically possible.
2) Hey, WinMo does Android, the open source, WTF???
Where's Our Video Player?
Does anyone remember TCPMP / Core Player on WinMo?
Why can't we have that satisfaction on our G1's???
Is it the hardware-decoder thing? Is it OTW?
Anyone know what's up?
There is a video player, It's called Video Player....
Hey guys, If I'm in the wrong area, I apologize.
I was wondering if there was a better youtube app for the HTC Fuze. The native youtube app, and the google youtube app are nice, but they do not play the full range of videos available on youtube, (ex. try looking up the music videos for "What you got" by Colby O'donis, or "Dangerous" by Kardinal Offishall, forgive my taste in music). You will not be able to find the music videos for these songs like you would on a desktop computer.
I've tried Coreplayer, and WVD player, but they either take a really long time searching or there is great difficulty finding videos.
I know this sounds funny but I'm quite surprised that there is difficulty for flash videos on winmo. I have a psp, and the youtube app is amazing (you also have the ability to go to other video hosting websites). Is there a youtube app that is equivalent to a desktop computer or the psp?
Thank you for your time.
ive been a bit dissapionted also in the phone because i tell everyone how much better the touch pro is than the iphone and then it cant do high quality youtube videos. please someone prove me wrong
if you go to the settings icon at the top and hit high quality instead of fast speed they look pretty damn good....
Yeah but if you're running a stock ROM the video skips because it can't process or keep the video and audio in sync..don't know what causes the problem. Not sure if that happens on cooked ROMs though
Have you tried coreplayer 1.3.2 youtube section after pressing views. It has settings out the a**! Hi,Lo,3g,FLV,H264 720p. Beautiful!! Try that if you havent!
But coreplayer is a commercial app, it is not free
btw I tried this software but was unable to make it work for youtube, it never finds anything...
