There are some basic things what I would like to do on the contact manager. One of these things is selecting multiple contacts when emailing. Now I have to add one contact each time, but is there the possibility/tweak to get selection option? Another thing I would like to do is filtering the contacts on category. I have filled in the category option on some contacts, but when I go to option filter, I get only the option 'all'.
Can anyone help me with this? And are there other usefull tweaks for the contact manager? Btw, I have tried many contact managers but everytime I go back to the default contact manager of windows mobile because of the simplicity. This is why I would like to tweak the default contact manager rather than installing another contact manager.

I believe there are some programs that aid with this, unfortunately, I have never used them. A quick search on Google reveals that some programs. For instance, here's one that showed up in a quick google search...Mobile Group Mail. Also, WM6.5 includes this feature, so if were to flash a 6.5 Rom, you would have it built in.

Otherwise you could try an application.

That is very odd, the categories should show up automatically as soon as you enter a category. How are you filling in the categories (outlook on PC/or phone)? Are you using a custom ROM?

Hello,
I'm having problems setting up my gmail account on my device with dutty's latest supported ROM. I cannot select the account type to imap although I typed it correctly in the box above. It just wouldn't allow me to select anything. Please see picture below
I appreciate any help

setup a fictious email as if it wasnt gmail....ie [email protected]
that way it wont find the auto settings for gmail.
then you should be able to pick imap as your protocol.
This problem isn't specific to Dutty's ROM and should not be in the ROM development forum. I've moved this thread to Kaiser general...
FWIW, if this thread *was* specific, it should have been posted as a reply in Dutty's thread.
hi there, i dont think my answer has much to do with your post. however, i am using a free service called www.mail2web.com to get my gmail...its a free exchange server...go check it out...
thanks
its a wm6.1 "issue" if you want to call it an issue. as long as it knows the email address it will use its auto config file. so you need to fool it....give it an address it DOES NOT know...then it will give you the option to manually configure.
so instead of listing [email protected] [email protected]. the next screen will give you options to set it up manually...there you can also change the email address back to what its supposed to be. also make sure you're using imap....enable it in the gmail settings.
your servers will be this..... imap.gmail.com:993 and smtp.gmail.com:587
enjoy
Whenever I want to share something in the Gallery, I'm often wanting to push it to Facebook and my stupid share list has grown so large I can't even see Facebook in the list anymore. Yes, Tweetdeck might could work, although it's great for quick views it's missing a lot of stuff the Facebook app itself has.

Anyone ever seen a way to limit this list, except removing apps? I don't use several of them often, and don't want to send a jpg into most of them, but I don't know of any way to change it.
I assume what shows here is all apps which can receive a jpg.. If I clear the Gallery settings, I believe this list shrinks for a while but before long the apps are all back in the list.
I have the same thing, although at least my Facebook is reachable. No idea what's even off the top of the screen lol

I removed a few apps and now I see Facebook, but.. Bleh... I think it must put them in the order they enumerate, I recall at one point thinking if I ran Facebook first or last, maybe it'd stay at the bottom of the list where I could reach it.
Might sort them top-down as most-used... Awesome
I want to swap over to gingerbread but I notice that none of the roms with gingerbread have the sense dialer or contact manager. Any recommendations for a similar smart dialer and a contact manager that can integrate well with facebook/twitter by automatically linking contacts etc??
Thanks for all help

Definitely +1
Lots of coniguration opportunities.
Hi,
do we actually need to load an app just to get smart dialer?
i have used Dialer One...but it is not so smart.
for eg, i may be searching for a friend's number, who is 91234
when i type 912, it doesn't list out all the names with number 912
but it list names with alphabets wxyz, abc, def.
meaning, it only search by name, not by number.
is there any app which can do both?
pretty weird that smart dialers are a standard feature in most smart phones.
thanks
jack

Yep, aContact and add-ons all the way for me. Tried all the others and this is by far the best and most complete solution.
I recently flashed to slim ics 2.8 and love it. Except the dialer , which sucks. Then today I went to text someone and realized they were no longer on my contact list. Then I realize a lot of people are missing. thankfully I exported my list before the flag. No biggie just import it back. After hoursi can't find an import option in the new slim Ics dialer. Should I look for another dialer ?
Does slim ics have a import contact option?
Should I find a better dialer?
any recommendations at ?
Just sync with Google and you're good to go.
Sent from my ICS i897 Captivate
I'll keep that in mind for the future but it doesn't help me at the moment.
Dunno slim specifically, but the import/export option I've found in ics wasn't in the dialer app. its in "people" app.
Just open it up and hit menu:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Hope that helps, cause like i said, never ran slim.

well, it was there alright. I now have duplicates for everyone, but those missing are still missing. I don't understand why they are missing. ...... Any easy way to clear the dupes?
I don't know anything about this people app, is this what the contact list is based on in ics?
Notification: "Allow the WAP Push application to receive messages..." What to do??
I don't understand what this is all about. I just got this phone last week, and ever since it was up and running, including first boot (if I recall correctly), I've had this cell-tower-like icon in my upper left corner. Always. Swiping down from the top reveals the following notice, and I'm given the chance to allow or deny.

Googling the content of this notice doesn't yield anything very informative, so I have a few questions:
1.) Is this coming from some app that can be disabled or uninstalled if I choose? Or is it part of the Android Oreo OS itself?
2.) What does it do if I allow it? Might it be useful or just some kind of spam?
If it's relevant, this phone was the international version, with the firmware probably Chinese (but of course I switched the language to English). Thanks for any info/help!

WAP push allows photos, URL links, wallpaper, ringtones, etc etc, to be directly embeded into SMS messages, so long as the sending server has it enabled.
It's an effort to bring SMS up to the speed of instant messaging, although it's probably a bit too late to catch up. Enabling it doesn't mean it'll work either, it has to be enabled with your service provider also.
I have mine disabled, effected nothing.
Theres quite a good explanation on StackOverflow
