So earlier today I go to download the Netflix app, and it says it's going to overwrite the existing file on my micro sd card. No problem, I hit ok. The phone hard freezes. I let it sit for 15 minutes, but nothing happens. Power button doesn't work. So I pull the battery. Now the micro SD card isn't being detected at all. I tried taking it out and putting it back in, tried soft and hard resetting, and I'm getting nothing. Ideas? I'm on the stock R3a rom. Should I reflash?
no you should format you sd card!
use a computer!

Title says it all. I unmounted as I should have before turning off USB storage, but when I unplugged the USB cable, it said I have a damaged SD card and that I may need to format it. I hit the OK to format and nothing happened. I tried rebooting and nothing happens. I'm rooted with CM 3.9.7 mod, A2SD, etc. I've tried flashing the recovery, etc, but it can't mount the SD card and so fails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

do you have a card reader for your computer?
No card reader for my computer.
do you have another phone or device that you can put your sd card in and connect to your computer
yeah, a Dash.
I've run into this problem before. Rebooting the phone. without selecting the format usually fixes it. I think it just happens when the SD card fails to unmount properly.
If you have an update.zip on the SD Card..try applying it through the recovery menu. If it says it fails to mount the SD Card over and over, then your SD Card probably is actually damaged.

Is there any way to fix the card? Like I said, I've got an HTC Dash running WM6 that I can put the card into and connect to the computer. Is there anything to be done?
try to format it from the dash through computer, but im not familiar with dashes
I think I may have figured it out a bit.
The Dash wouldn't recognize the 8GB SDHC, but I fortunately still had the original 1GB, which it did recognize. I was able to transfer the CM 3.9.7 onto it and boot in recovery mode and reload the update.zip file. I'm currently booting up and once that's done, I'll do what is necessary to put my 8GB card in, format it and then try to make everything work again. Suggestions?
you want to use the 3.97? that rom is still experimental. maybe you should use the 3.6.8.1 rom

That's about it...
I usually keep a back up of everything just in case.
Also, for your usb card reader problems...

he might want to try the stable rom though
My plan succeeded! I'm now waiting for the Market to let me download my apps again. It let me download a couple, but stopped for some reason. It's happened before, so I'm not too worried. If I should be, let me know. Thanks.
ok sounds good
For some reason, Google Talk was disabled. I enabled it and voila, everything's all good!
Hey,
My phone was next to my computer last night, was almost full battery, i came to it this morning and it was turned off. It wouldn't power up. I plugged it into laptop and it started charging from 0%.
I noticed my SD card was not been read. So i went to see if i could mount it, no luck, Tried accessing the card from recovery, no luck. I plugged the SD card into my old Windows 6.5 phone and it worked fine.
Running CM7 7.0.3
Is there any fix for this?
Thanks in advanced.

Try another SD with your N1. Otherwise, backup your SD card and format.
Formatted the SD card, didnt work. After the format android said "checking for errors" and then nothing
This usually happens to me (Im on stock 2.3.4). What I do is:
1) flash AmonRa recovery
2) enable usb-ms
3) Run windows fs error check tool
4) boot into android normally
And it works fine again. Im using the stock SD card too, and this only happens when I run out of battery.
I've put in a 16 GB SD card.
Phone just loads the LG logo repeatedly .
Took out the SD card. Same thing. Phone won't turn on. Just the LG logo and that's it.
Tried accessing using USB.Nothing. Connects and disconnects.
Any help would be appreciated.
What was the last thing that you did or installed on the phone? Happened to me once and did a factory reset and its all good. Lesson to me, make a CWM backup. As for the SD card, I would suggest to reformat the SD Card.
I'm not sure if the SD card has caused it. What brand is it? Unless you have a backup, it would seem you could be out of luck and have to do a hard reset. Try removing your SIM card and SD card, as well as the battery and just boot with the USB cable.
You could do a boot with the USB cable? Nice hope I knew that.
nook color running 1.2 did a hard reset on it to try and fix this problem
i ran CM7 off SD card fine for months till i did something stupid and deleted the build.prop and did not restore old one before rebooting.
sandisk class 3 4gb sd card formated in windows to fat 32 totally blan insert into nook it powers on.
now i redo all my steps i did few months back in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
insert card into nook and now nook wont power on unless i remove it wait a few seconds. no reformat it back to fat32 and insert into nook and it powers on fine.
any ideas?
so after putting in a new sd card it still refuses to boot with sd card in. could they have put some kind of preventive for booting from sd card? it boots fine if sd card is empty but soon as i put a boot img on it nada
hardware/port failure?
or can it read the sd card after you boot into vanilla nook?
i was updating a daily once and it would just sit there and always boot into nook... then i realized that my install (copy zip, boot, reboot) wasnt finishing properly and it appeared to not be booting from the sd, but it was, just that the sd contents were corrupt...
it will boot fine if the sd card is out OR if i format the card and it is empty. if i put a boot image on it nothing. first i thought it was the sd card but now ive tried it with 2 different ones and the image being wrote from 2 different card readers

Try different image writing software or a cheap usb reader.
broke out an old free usb reader i had and installed it in tower and it worked but now im stuck at N logo. ive done boot partition fix i did 1.0 recovery even did hard reset and i let it sit for 4 hrs on the N logo and still nothing.. gonig to try 1.2 here in a min
edit: the 1.2 signed i got from here did the trick
Here's a quick breakdown. I got a 32gb SD Card (Sandisk) for Christmas. I hadn't been able to get it to work properly with my phone since then, thinking I needed a microsd reader to format it. I finally did so and have had a number of problems with it. For starters, I ended up soft bricking my phone as when i rebooted it showed that there was no safe system enabled in safestrap, and I ended up accidentlly rebooting when I didn't have an OS installed.
I FXZd the phone back and have since then been attempting to get the SD card working. All of the phone's SD and Internal memory are cut and pasted onto my PCs hard drive. Here's what keeps happening.
I attempt to copy the files from the PC to the SD card via plugging in the phone via usb. I get an error that says it cannot read the file from the PC after it attempts to transfer some of the files. I then used the MicroSD reader I have and was able to cut and paste everything over successfully. When I put the SD card in my phone, a bunch of my apps are back, terrific. Some of my key apps are not back, however, and none of the data/settings are there. I had a titanium backup file copied on the SD card along with everything else, and Titanium is finding the apps that have reappeared, but none of the ones that seem to be missing. Trying to get titanium to locate the backup folder results in the program saying theres is no backup in the folder (again despite the files being in the backup folder).
Here's wehre I really start to get agitated. Once I plug the phone into the computer with teh SD card in the phone everything works great. As soon as I uplug the phone, I get a message saying the SD card is corrupt and needs to be formatted. WHen I plug the phone back in, there are only 4 folders and a handful of files on the SD card, even though there was just 16+gigs of information on there, and now there's almost nothing. I have then reformatted the card and repeated this process several times, to the same result. The SD card seems to work fine with a portion of the data until i plug the phone into the PC, at which point the SD card tells me its corrupt again.
I have no idea why this is consistently happening, but I'm extremely frustrated that I've essentially lost most of my important data when all I wanted to do was plug in a new SD card. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I have no idea what to do from here. Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice.
Edit: the 4 file folders that remain are .android_secure, LOST.DIR, Music, and Safestrap.
As I recall, Lost.dir is what it sounds like - essentially files that get lost somehow, the entire folder is populated with 1000s of files whose names are only numbers between 1 and 217279. Only about 8gb is being used on the SD card, despite being more than 16gb being used on there before plugging in the phone and going into usb storage mode.
Okay, just to specify as a follow up - I've accepted that I'm probably going to lose all of my application data - whatever, it happens.
Regardless, I could still use a little help - essentially, every time I plug my phone into a computer, everything works fine, then when I unplug the phone (pushing the button to turn off usb mass storage), my it tells me I have a damaged Sd card and recommends I format it.
Thus far i reset the phone and its fine. Any advice on how to avoid this repeated error other than that? I'm running CM10.1 if it matters, and have heard there are some SD issues with it maybe? but haven't been able to turn up any answers on google.
Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice.
I also have a 32GB SanDisk card that intermittently gives me the "damaged" error message. It's very inconsistent, but a reboot or two always fixes it. This happens on stock ICS or CM 10.1. Wish I had an answer for both of us.
