i have two phones that where rooted and flashed using the same procedure using the cm 4.0.4 ROM but one lists ROGERS twice in the notification area. the only differences between the phones is my apn settings are mnc 720 and the other phone is mnc 72.
my phone that uses mnc 720 has a custom apns pushed to it with the correct settings.
did a search but couldn't find an answer so i'm reaching out to the community for help on this one.
Thought i should make it clear the stock CM 4.0.4 phone(mnc 72)is having the issue
Did u try reselecting rodgers under the mobile networks in settings give it a shot. Or u can always reset the apn, or wipe and reflash
never had to select rogers under networks on either phone. i had done it at the time cause it was one of my thougts too but to no avail. removing the apns still shows double rogers. replaced the apns-conf as a test on a new wipe didn't work. wiped and reflashed i think 3 times so far no avail.
Do you have a theme installed?
Happens on first boot after doing a wipe and re-image with CM4.0.4 nothing installed whatsoever its driving me crazy
i have got the same problem i posted it here...my mnc is 404..i have only tried cyanogen's roms and this problem exists on everyone of them
Just rooted my Canadian Telus Milestone phone and successfully installed CyanogenMod 7. As I am new here, the forum software will not let me post a link to the instructions that I followed. You'll have to add the http stuff to the beginning to make the following link work.
web.cs.dal.ca/~darndt/other/moto-milestone-flash/
I used the Telus 2.2.1 ROM, and then CM7 version: update-cm-7.1.0-RC2.1-11.05.11-Milestone-signed.zip
Eveything works great, except that I cannot enter the APN information for my carrier (Fido / Rogers). Settings | Wireless and Networks | Mobile Networks | Access Point Names is the path I followed. Pressing "menu" at this point gives the option "New apn", which I select. Then nothing. Blank screen. No 'form' to fill in like one usually gets on this phone.
The other option on that screen is "Reset to default". I tried that as well. There are no APN settings available to choose from.
\system\etc\apns-conf.xml is on this phone, and there are three entries there for Fido. None of them are being picked up by the phone, and I have no data connection.
The telephone works. Wifi works. All the apps work. I just cannot enter the Fido APN values, which I know, and which I know work. This phone has run on the Fido network for over a year with no trouble prior to installing the CM7 ROM image.
I've tried posting at (http//android.doshaska.net/cm7, but Nadlabak is but one guy, and he appears to be swamped.
Any suggestions?
Frank.

I would do a full wipe and start over (installing CM7).
I run my phone on rogers and sometimes fido and have tried most (all?) ROMs on this forum and have never heard of this issue.
You dont need to re sbf the phone. Just do all 3 wipes and reinstall CM7, google apps and choose telus baseband.
If it doesnt work for CM7, give another ROM a try...
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
Now, you say all 3 wipes. The only wipe that shows up in Androidiani Open Recovery 1.46 is the Dalvik Cache. There are no entries in OR 1.46 for the other two. How do I wipe data and cache?
Thanks for the help. This is the first clear response I've heard so far.
Frank.
Caz666:
OK, quite by accident I found out that OR 1.46 has two additional menu items below "wipe Dalvik cache", but one has to SCROLL to get to them. The remaining two items: factory reset and wipe cache were both there. Once I cleared everything, reinstalled CM7, reinstalled Google apps, and set the baseband to Telus, my phone rebooted clean, and immediately connected to Fido - voice AND data!!!
Funny how the simplest of things can trip up a newbie.
I've been a hobbyist programmer in C and Pascal, I've been running Linux on my home and business computers exclusively for over 5 years, yet I was lost on this new platform.
So satisfying, however, to finally get it to work.

Got 3G working on my phone If u have radio 01.97.00R installed on your phone it should work already, just reset your APN settings. Fixed links
If u have 2.3.4 HKTW already installed Skip step 1 and try to see if u can get 3G working. If not just start over.
1. First go to here and follow every thing (Navalynt's Mod) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142674
People that are using windows http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139715 this is what I used to install 2.3.4 HKTW
After I did all that I root my Phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140110
2.Install Radio 01.97.00R for AT&T http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128963
a.Turn off phone. Hold up volume and power keys at same time till it boots up to RSD and plug phone into computer.
b. Open RSD Lite and install Radio 01.97.00R
3.APN
I upload my APN for AT&T, (Update) Should be able to send and receive pictures and video to and from people for At&t only!
Download ApnManager From Market.
Put ApnManager Folder in to the internal sdcard.
Open ApnManager and click resort APN. See if u can now send and receive, If not try restarting.
My old APN had Custom Tethering that messed up Picture Messaging! You can try deleting that if u can't send or receive pictures!

your links dont work.
I am on ATT and did not have a single issue on this rom with 3G or any other APN related issues.
I didn't even have to detect network to get it to run.

Same with me after running Nav's Mod file. I will try this and reset settings later to see if it fixes my internet issues.
Seriously? Do you have to post a tutorial for this? Are you that desperate for a thanks? Look around there are at least 3 threads with this same info.

Some people need more hand-holding than others. Making it idiotproof has a niche.
i have flashed this mulitple time. fresh. unlocked. rooted. everything. i cant get it to work on my phone, i get a signal and the one bar thing but no data. its fkn gay/weird. i only get this with 2.3.4. anyone know what i am doing wrong or can help me? i woulkd really appreciate it.
Settings for internet if on 3 Network
Ok at first when i go my phone i couldn't make a calls, and when i did the phone would restart itself. So i flashed the radio to 87.00r and it worked.
Then i had to manually set up the apn in order for my internet to work (Mobile Data)
Menu, Settings, Wireless & Networks,Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, create or edit apn.
Name - 3
APN - three.co.uk
ANP TYPE - default
save settings and restart your phone - and that's it really.
I downloaded APN Manager as you stated. I'm in Minnesota, and I switched the APN to one for T-Mobile and got double the speed. Why is that?

How did u flash 2.3.4 and U have your APN set up right and select HSPA and restart. U can check if trying to connect, Go to Settings, to About phone, to Status And Its under Mobile network state!
FOR THOSE ON AT&T
If you are on the AT&T Network and you upgraded to GB from Froyo and didn't delete your APNs or carried them over using Titanium Backup, you should be fine.
For those of you who didn't or installed Navalynt's Mod/reset your data/whatever else you did to lose your APNs, you don't need to download APN Manager in order to get it back.
It seems the problem with the defaulted APN for AT&T in this particular build is that it is missing the password. If you put back in the password, it works perfectly fine. The password is 'CINGULAR1'. So for anyone having problems with their APNs, try defaulting it or just adding the password in first.
Let me know how that goes for you guys
P.S. Can we get someone to mod the default APN to include the password? Or even better, to replace the defaults and add in the defaults from Froyo build? If someone can (or i can try to look into it) that'd be amazing
Hi All,
Need some help - I've been working more on CDMA phones b/c of sprint, and just flashed my friends captivate (att), but after the flash, have no data or cell service. (I flashed cwm recovery with odin, and then was able to get miui 2.8.3 onto the phone.)
Not sure how to get the cell signal to work, or what needs to be done to get things back to good ...
I see things about flashing back to stock, and then restarting - and i'm lost with the modem files, nothing of them are working so far, but I feel good about it....
--Adrian
Apn settings need to be reset to default... Go to Settings/ Wireless and network/ Mobile networks/ Access Point Names then hit capacitve menu button then "Reset to default".
And if that doesn't work, u probably need to flash an appropriate modem.

Also you can try entering the APN yourself. Just Google the name of your network, and apn. You should find the info you need to create a new apn.

Since ive installed Maximus 42.0.0 I get not internet on my phone, in the mobile data section it only shows as Disconnected bcause service is unavailable, Ive tried 2 different sim cards, It wont let me try to change to APN settings, Ive tried to reinstall maximus 42 and going back to a really old backup I had of a completely different rom and still nothing, and even after re installing maximus and using a old backup I can never change the APN settings, and it always shows up the top the sim card icon with a !, But it still alerts me on both roms when I eject the SIM card.
I cant find anything that helps, Ive also tried install a new radio and firmware.

Have you tried Settings -> Mobile Data -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names -> APNs select the Menu (three dots) choose New APN. You can enter all the relevant information there.

Wow, something has messed with your phone. Assuming Maximus downloaded correctly and you checked it MD5 to verify, then maybe your recovery may be causing some issues. Some versions of TWRP are writing in the wrong partition and resulting in missing OS, etc. This version might help. If this doesn't help, then you might have to go back to the stock rom to check if the issue is there. If it is, then you might have to send in your phone for servicing.

I would give the different version of TWRP a try first, then if it failed, I'd go back to stock. It may save you some time and steps.
