In this picture,we can see it is using an USB card reader. So I am sure Diamond supports USB host.At leaset ,the hardware supports.
But we can also see an AC adapter, so maybe Diamond can not power the connected USB devices.
If an external AC adapter is connected , maybe it really supports some USB devices. But if an external AC adapter is needed, it is not very useful.
yes there have been several posts about the same thing in the forums
and nobody ever been able to get host outside of the bootloader
and even the ppc devices which do support usbHost require external power
usb is 5volt 0.5amps and
watt == volt * amps
so that mean it would have to be able to supply 2.5Watt out of the usb port
and thats more then most handheld devices can manage

Will the typical hdmi cables work on our phones? I suspect It may work but I cant use them for the OTG. I just cant find one that specifies it will charge the phone while you use hdmi out.

My GF has one of these but I wont see her until friday to test hers so hoping someone else might know beforehand
The MHL adapters have a power input, in fact, you can't use them without a power input connected.
This adapter are meant to use with old MHL adapter with 5 pin instead new 11 pin NHL adapter. That's why it costs less then new 11 pin MHL adapter.

This cable that you have on image, is typical microUSB/MiniUSB video cable for older cameras, not phones. I think I have somewhere such cable that I got with old camera.
Also I dont know any mobile device that send analog signal via such cable, only cameras, chinese portable gamestations, some mp4 players and few other devices, but not phones that use digital MHL/microHMDI standard
thanks a lot
If you need to extend your USB cable, this is a great product to use.
Current usage: Connected to my HTC One m8 via a Micro-USB cable, next to my night-stand. Primarily used to extend my charging cable.
Pros:
Tangle-free flat cable
Very long length
USB 3.0 transfer speed
Cons:
None

I was provided this USB extension cable for free in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.
Some weird issue with my phone - I cannot connect it to Windows 10 (tried on two computers) using USB type-c cables laying around.
When connecting to USB on PC - the phone is charging, but there is no USB notification in the notification bar, where you can choose an option. When I try to search for USB options - they all grayed out.
Cables working, same for USB - checked wy my wife Motorola G7.
Tried to set a default mode in development options - still no luck.
Tried to connect a mouse - works.
No root, no custom firmware.
What to do? How to fix it?
This is a development option:
