Easy bootsplash hack? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

well ive been trying to customize every little thing on my g1 to get the procedures down before i go and start programming for android, and ive been trying to find out how to change the bootsplash and all my searches have come up with is mixed results and so far i think ive pieced together the procedure for the abd method; but someone mentioned that you could change the bootsplash using a recovery mode update.zip, what would i need to do it and how? Because i really hate abd and fastboot (i blame ubuntu) because it a big pain in the ass.

You can change the animated (shiny android) screen with an update.zip. You cannot change the splash1 screen with an update. That one has to be done with fastboot.

How to which? Splash1 can be changed by using the bootscreen changer program listed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543095&highlight=bootscreen+3000
The animated screen can be changed by opening either your theme or your ROM and locating the framework.res.apk file. Open that and go to assets and then images and change the android-logo-mask and the android-logo-shine to what you want. resign it and flash. or push it with adb.
A search will bring all of this information up as these posts have been active in the past day or so.

question 1 will i need to have abd for it to work? (the exe and bat thing)
question 2 is just extract the apk change android-logo-mask and android-logo-shine (with a different picture but the same name)? and is logo mask boot 1 and logo shine boot 2? and this is done with out abd?

1. You will need adb for the splash1 change as it is done with fastboot.
2. Yes, change the logo mask and shine files keeping them named as they are now. They are for the animated screen. The mask basically sits on top of the shine file. The shine file kinda spins around behind it.

so could i just delete shine? because i just plan to have just a png picture thats it or do i have to put 2 of the same images there?
(sorry for all the questions i just it to work)

Not sure about deleting it. However if you have no transparent places on your logo mask, nothing will shine anyhow.

Thanks for clearing that up for me

New VGA Boot and Splash Screens (now with manila background!)..

Got a little confusing, so I'm rewriting this post:
Here are a few boot and welcome splash screens I made (as well as a transparent PNG of the HTC logo that I drew from hand in case anyone wants it ... It's the fourth image down there, named transHTC.png).
Each one of these can be used as a welcome splash screen pretty easily ... All you have to do is rename the image to 'welcomehead.192.png" and stick it in the windows folder. You may run into permissions issues, but you can change the permissions on the file using something like Total Commander.
If you don't want to mess with permissions, I've included a cab file for the blue floral background + windows mobile 6.1 text image (the first image named welcomehead.192.png) called "splash.cab". Note: This cab will overwrite your current welcome splash screen image and can not be uninstalled (afterall, all it's doing is overwriting an image.) I can make other cabs for the other images upon request.
I've also included two roms (RAPHIMG.zip and HTC_logo_w.zip) that you can flash to replace the default boot splash screen. The first one, RAPHIMG.zip, contains the rom with the blue floral background and HTC logo while the second one, HTC_logo_w.zip, contains the plain white with HTC logo. Flash them the same way you'd flash other nbh files, either by using RUU or the SD card method. To perform the SD card method:
1) Unzip the zip file and rename the included nbh file to "RAPHIMG.NBH"
2) Put the RAPHIMG.NBH file in the root of your SD card.
3) Reset your device using the button on the bottom (next to the miniUSB port) while holding down the Volume Down button.
NOTE: This will put your device into the bootloader ... don't be alarmed!
4) Follow the prompts to flash the new rom (don't worry, it only affects the splash screen.)
5) When everything is done, reset the device again using the button on the bottom and stare in awe at your beautiful new splash screen.
Would it be possible for you to make one for the first bootscreen with the htc logo? Would be greatly appreciated , I just installed this one and its is Great! I am keeping it
I made a plain white one not too long ago over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465172
I'll make one with the same floral background but the HTC logo instead of the text tomorrow and package it up as a rom (splash only of course) so keep an eye out for it.
I'll make some more if there is an interest.
Can you please make a cab for your upcoming one
Made one myself... Not my image but I made the cab file for it.

lotion said:
I got sick of my old splash screen so here's a new one. Just run splash.cab.
Note: This is the loading splash screen, not the boot splash. VGA, portrait only.
EDIT:
I added a matching boot screen and packaged it up as a rom (RAPHIMG.zip). You can flash it like you would any other ROM (it only overwrites the splash, everything else remains intact). The easiest way to flash it is as follows:
put RAPHIMG.NBH in the root of your SD card.
Hit the reset button on the bottom of your Touch Pro while holding the Volume Down button. You'll go into the bootloader.
Follow the prompts. When it's done flashing, hit the reset button again.
Oh, and one more just for kicks.
Here's a boot splash with just the HTC icon (HTC_logo_w.zip). I ended up drawing it by hand because I couldn't find one large enough for my liking.
I've also included the HTC icon I drew on a transparent background (the seemingly larger HTC logo below) in case anyone wants to use it. All I ask is that you give credit to me for drawing it.
And here's another welcome splash using the default manila background.

splash.cab is the blue background with the Windows Mobile 6.1 text.
I'll make cabs of the other ones tomorrow. You can always try renaming the images to welcomehead.192.png and putting them in your Windows folder in the meantime.
Do I need to flash HardSPL before I change my default splash screen by following the above directions? Does it remove the entire AT&T splash screen completely, including the 3g animation and everything? That would be great.

HardSPL is a requirement whenever you attempt to flash anything onto the phone. Both of the nbh files above will replace the ATT boot screen.

Any RUU will do...you can find one on any of the ROM threads. It won't let me upload it here since it's an exe file. Beware that some anti-virus programs tend to see them as trojans -- they are not.

When used as a welcomehead, the image is not full screen. Does it have to be resized? BTW, I used the png version on the first page.

Nope, they're all 480x640 (VGA). Did you try to use the 4th image (transHTC.png)? If so, it's not meant to be used as a splash image ... That's just a copy of the HTC logo I drew in case others wanted to use it. Use the 3rd image (HTC_logo_w.png) instead.

No, I tried using the one with the diamond background (labeled welcomehead.192.2.png). It doesn't come up full screen. All I did was rename it, then replaced the one in the Windows directory.

How do I change the very first splash screen?

Hello,
I've got from a friend who works in HTC a sample of the Touch diamond 2.
The phone is fully working but I would like to change one thing:
WHEN I SWITCH ON THE CELL, THE VERY FIRST SPLASH SCREEN THAT APPEARS SAYS: "SMART MOBILITY - TEST ONLY NOT FOR SALE".
Does anyone know a way to delete the sentence "TEST ONLY NOT FOR SALE"?
Thanks
..use an other rom! changing the splash screen menas a bit cooking!
Flash a official rom, that should fix it for you. Most cooked roms here dont include that first loadscreen.
I tried!
Guys, I have just installed a new ROM (EnergyROM_TOPAZ_20090921_StandardM2.5) but nothing changed..the "test only not for sale" sentence is still there!
Any other idea to replace the phrase?
Thanks
Maybe you could just look away when that phrase is displayed
Hi,

If you want to make your own look here's HOWTO (sorry, but only in german)

[HOWTO] change first SplashScreen
I,ve decided to write a Tutorial for this in (my poor) english. Even i don't know if someone needs this
Maybe some MOD can edit the title of the thread.
How To for the exchange of the initial SPLASH SCREEN
Important: I take no responsibility for any damage!
The image that appears when you turn on the device and then displays the versions of radio, ROM and protocol
HSPL is needed!
Here we go:
We need a 24BIT *.bmp in a Dimension 480x800
Extract the content from the attached file to c:\
Put your Picture in the new created Folder
With CMD (start menu, run, cmd) change in this Directory by typing: cd c:\Splash HD
Now type: nbimg -F *.bmp -p 18400 (* = name of your Picture) to start the Conversation
There’s now a new File in the Folder e.g. *.bmp.nb. Because we need a File with 786.432 byte it’s necessary to check the Dimension. If it doesn’t fit delete the File and go to next step.

To got the right Dimension you must use the Difference between with the following command: nbimg -F *.bmp -p 18400 (18400 is for Example, please use your calculated Value). Repeat Step 6. and 7. until you’ve got the right Dimension
When this is done type: htcrt.exe and then close CMD
Click on Build!

Ignore warning by choosing Splash and finally click Build!once again
Now we have a flashable File.
rename *.nbh to TOPAIMG.nbh.
Copy TOPAIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button.
Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
After that your device with have a white screen with text " Press to power button for continue upgrade or Press Volume down button for cancel upgrade , select press to power button and it will start upgrade Rom.

ok on further close scrutiny, the picture is rotated right 16 pixels and the bottom 100 pixels are not displayed (I made a grid to work that out, how sad am I)
The picture I'm using is this http://www.mobinations.com/en/cell-phone-wallpaper-preview.php?w=ford-mustang-[6].jpg
obviously I convert it to a 24bit bmp first!
Have saved bmp from jpeg in both mspaint and photoshop and have same result, are they to fault? what do you use to make the bmp?
Ok, i will look at the picture. In the meantime you could try the file below attached.

splash screen problem.
Hi, I tried all the files and methods above and the splash screen changes.
However the bootup sequence of my splash screen is now different, but it still didn't get rid of the carrier splash screen (China mobile) in my case. I'm a little stumped, so if anyone can give me a hand on this, it would be great.
After flashing it now boots as follows:
1) it boots up as the New picture after it has been flashed.
2) China Mobile carrier splash screen.
3) HTC splash screen.
and then it boots into the phone.
Is there a way to get rid of the splash screen for china mobile in the 2nd step?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

still can't get rid of carrier splash screen
Hi all,
I still can't get rid of the carrier splash screen (China mobile). I want to either remove it or change it to something else...
I have tried everything on this forum.
I've used the above splash.zip, and also the topaimg file, and the very first splash screen changed to the pictures provided.
Also, I have used lcd4linux and bl4ckb1rd method for changing the default windows splash screen.
HOWEVER, what I want to do is change the boot screen that has the carrier splash screen... that doesn't change, even when I flash a new rom such as dutty's leo r4 rom, or the energy photon rom.
Again, the bootup sequence is:
1) 1st splash screen - Which has been changed using lcd4linux and the files provided by angdolphin by using a topaimg and flashing it.
2) Carrier splash screen (china mobile) - WHICH STILL DOESN'T CHANGE.
3) Windows 6.5 splash screen which has been changed to the splash screen provided by lcd4linux and bl4ckb1rd by copying 2 files into the windows folder.
I read somewhere one other way to change the carrier splash screen is to flash a stock rom. Any suggestions?
Stuck.
Thanks heaps everyone.

HELP!!!!! change boot screen

Hello All been tryin to change my boot screen and im havin trouble Can anyone help me please
What's the prob. ?
I have that BSF3000 and its not workin i followed directions and everything please help me
The way I did mine was I used winrar to open up the rom went to the folder where the image is and replaced it with what I wanted once I can get on the computer in like 30-45 I will tell u exactly and I looked at some other custom images from peoples theme by opening their "theme".zip and seeing what size the mask and shine images were and the bit ddepth and everything so I could make sure I had everything right. Hope that helped like I said I can give more details if u need when I get on computer
To change splash1, boot into fastboot (back+power). Load up a cmd window, and type:
fastboot flash splash1 <file location> mysplash.rgb565
There is only 1 SPL that allows splash2 to be flashed. I don't remember which, but it says which in the bootflasher program.
If you don't have that SPL, you can change your animated screen by replacing the android-logo-mask.png and the android-logo-shine.png located in the framework-res.apk\assets\images folder. Resign and reflash your theme/rom.
which bootscreen are you trying to change? the static (i.e. G1 logo) boot screen, or the animation? For the animation, check my signature. For the static, sockpuppet has it right.
its not reading my phone nor lettin im havin trouble with the driver
if so im on gtalk [email protected]
I think first of all you need to begin here. Once you have this ready, then try the flash.

Thanks it keeps sayin cant find driver
Point your driver select screen to you sdk\drivers folder.

[MOD] DIY Transparent Notification Drawer for Captivate FROYO

Like the title says, this is how to modify your Notification title drawer on the Captivate with Froyo like Tatuyama's theme's drawer(notification slide) for the i9000. This will tell you how to make it transparent and add a graphic or change the colors. This has been tested on Cog B7, dont think it works on i9000 roms like Shep's. I can help you though on this if you absolutely are dieing to do it. It will just take a little fandanglin and searching but can be done. I ripped apart Shep's rom and found all of Tat's mods, I jsut dont remember them off the top of my head..
I have also attached the drop bars from Tat's theme and another black AOSP bar should you want to use it. I have also included a PSD file to modify to your liking, my APK's for the frameworks I edited below (these include the tat icons already inside), a blank black background bar to use should you want, and other goodies for your modding needs. I have also slapped some screenies below to get an idea of wtf I am even talking about. Also if you use my Frameworks be aware that I am using the battery mod version "I" from that one thread, injected Tat's icons and goodies, and other MISC things.
I will try to do this as simple as possible. I dont linger in the themes area so you are pretty much on your own. I am going to write this tutorial based on Windows O/S and Adobe Photoshop. Attempt this at your own risk. If you biff it up its not my fault. I wrote the directions as I did it, and I am working great with awesome sauce dripping from my phone. I cannot be held responsible if you are below par of the preqs listed. I assume if you are going to attempt it you are competent and comfortable with all things required. However, should you somehow mess up, I do provide some SYA (save your ass) directions below. That being said, Good luck and Mod On!
Prerequisites:
1) ADB Dev Kit and experience using it (push, pull, shell)
2) Photoshop or other photo editing software & experience
3) Basic Windows experience: cut/copy/paste/rename/zipping/moving files. (if you use linux you shouldnt worry as you more than likely are a power user already and can cross apply).
Step 1: We need to download the APK's off the phone and get them ready for editing (or yank them out of the ROM package you download).
1) open a CMD (command prompt) window type:
adb pull /system/framework/twframework-res.apk C:\
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk C:\This will save the files to your root of C:. Should you want to do it elsewhere you can specify or else leave it blank and it will stick the files in your developer kit folder.
2) (OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED! STEP) Navigate to where you saved the files, right click and copy/paste to make a set of backups of these files.
3) Rename the .apk to .zip files. You can also associate your .apk to a program like WinRAR or WinZIP instead. This will open APK Files by default or optional secondary(open with). This makes the whole thing a lot easier as you can open the file(APK) and leave it up, make the edits and drop them directly back into the APK. KEEP FILE STRUCTURE PROPER!
4) Extract the APK files to seperate folders or dig out the below files for editing.
Step 2: Editing the proper files.
1) Navigate to twframework.apk's extracted folder from above or these files you extracted.
2) Find and open sub folder /res/
3) Once in /res/ find and open /drawable-hdpi/
4) Once in /drawable-hdpi/ locate the following files:
- status_bar_background.9.png (actual background of the drawer)
- status_bar_header_background.png (this is the 5 icons across the top of drawer)
- status_bar_close_on.png (this is the dropdown bar at the bottom of drawer)
- quick_panel_list_bg_01.9 (seperator between carrier and application info)
5) Open these files in Photoshop(or another editor)
6) Verify these are set to RGB not Index color mode so you can edit them.
7) Edit the layers to make them transparent. If there are not layers, right click and "create layer from background". You can then edit your layer settings. I set mine to 75% transparency in Photoshop, the actual background to 85% to darken it up a little. This will take some tweaking to get it just perfect for you. Make sure you save them in .png format with the same name they started with and not the PSD or "copy". Also you want non interlaced if it prompts you.
8) Do the same steps for the framework-res.apk.
- status_bar_item_app_background_normal.9.png (not sure if this one is necessary)
- status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png (this is teh notifications)
Step 3: Put it together and upload.
After you update the files, you will need to inject them back ito the APK's where you got them (/res/drawable-hdpi/). You can do this by opening the APK with Winzip/WinRAR/7zip and put them in there or if you extracted the entire contents just zip it all back up. You will need to remove the .zip extension if you went that route. Also, make sure you open it after zipping and verify it maintains the correct structure or you will be doing the recovery shuffle after you reboot. If you see only 1 folder in your zip this is WRONG! You need to see assets, RES, META-INF, and 2 other files in there(manifests and resources). If you see all these then you are ready to rock and roll.
After you get them back together upload them to your device using:
adb push <location of apk you edited>\framework-res.apk /sdcard/
adb push <location of apk you edited>\twframework-res.apk /sdcard/
then in teh same command prompt window (or another, whatever)
adb shell
su
cd sdcard
cp twframework-res.apk /system/framework/twframework-res.apk
cp framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
reboot
It shouldnt take but a second to come back up. You are done.
It may take a little bit of editing of the files to get them to look OK. I spent most of my day today getting mine together. You can use them if you like the "hootie edition" or just edit your own.

To be honest I have never used metamorph on the Captivate. On my G1 yes you could acheive that. I googled the metamorph tutorial Junkdruggler did and it looks rather lengthy and involved editing XML files. You can find that info here. Also, the files you would need to do my way with just a blank one are above. Just download the closebars zip and the "blank" zip. Then mod/inject your APK - or hell mine from above- and push it to your device. This is a rather quick ordeal.

THIS IS HOW TO SAVE YOURSELF
Well, not sure what you mean "usual errors" with framework change? I havent ever had any issues with the framework replacements. I occasionally have then crash if I replace them while phone is on and not in recovery. A reboot fixes this though. Are you using a Cap rom or an I9000? This doesnt work on I9000 roms as thier APK's are slightly different- teh HDPI folder has a v4 at the end (IIRC). I can help you through this though if that's the case..
If it truly is a cap rom, I did experience a similar problem on my phone one time when I pushed the framework.apk. What had happened is I right-clicked the ROOT directory I had placed all the files in and said to zip it. This caused the folder to be INSIDE the zip. So the file structure went like this:
>>ZIP FILE I CREATED>>
--------->>FOLDER ALL FILES WERE IN>>
------------------>>FILE STRUCTURE OF THE ORIGINAL APK>>
Which should have been
>>ZIP FILE I CREATED>>
--------->>FILE STRUCTURE OF ORIGINAL APK>>
To better explain it- If you open the zip you created, do you see the RES folder, META-INF folder, assets folder, and then there will be 2 other files? Or do you see 1 single folder? If you see 1 single folder you zipped it up incorrectly. You will need to go into the folder and select all-> right click-> zip (send to-> compressed folder). This should fix it. If this isnt the case something else went horribly wrong. To fix it we will need to restore the original files you hopefully backed up. If you didnt back up you still arent totally hosed- just redownload the ROM you are running, open it up and navigate to the /system/framework folder and pull out the original frameworks. Then follow these instructions to get them back on the device.
Step 1:
A quick way to get out of this situation is to take the copies rename them back to twframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk (or pull from the original rom package as mentioned above).
Hopefully you have the 2e recovery kernel, as you need it to get back to where you started. If you cant do clockwork, well you may as well odin cause you are a few flashes behind anyway.
K, so first you will need to download the update.zip I have included with this post. This is the clockwork recovery file. You will next need to put your phone in reocvery mode. to do this do:
adb reboot recovery
Step 2:
Next you will need push that file you downloaded to your SD. to do that you need to:
adb push <location of downloaded>\update.zip /sdcard/
Now, once in recovery- tell it to reinstall packages. This may reboot the phone. If it does, tell it to reinstall packages again. This should get you to clockwork recovery.
Step 3:
once you have a green clockwork recovery screen, you will get the chance to SU via ADB SHELL. You can then repeat the pushing of your ORIGINAL fles back to your phone and retry the process.
You could also pull the files you pushed to see what went wrong- but do that first as if you push before they will be overwritten with the original files.
Looking into doing a little custom work but before I do. Like Tat's theme do you need to edit XML files for specific things like the pop ups being black. Or do I just get the naming right and put the proper PNG in the apk.

This is only for the notification drawer and not the actual pop ups. If you want to edit the popups you will need to edit the XML files.
Thanks for the quick response. I might have to dive into all the XML edits.

status_bar_background.9.png (actual background of the drawer)
If I ONLY wanted to make the pull-down menu background transparent the above file would be the only one that I need to mod... correct??

That is correct.
The one problem though is the AT&T (carrier part) at the top is also transparent and you quickly notice it looks a little strange with your items not transparent. I tried to live with it for a little bit but ended up modding the rest too.

quick_panel_list_bg_01.9 (seperator between carrier and application info)
is this the file for the AT&T carrier part??
The quick panel is actually the part that says "Notifications" or "On Going" below the AT&T part. THe AT&T and clear button is part of the actual background peice. So what happens is the AT&T part becomes transparent, while the notification peices are solid. It may not bother you but it bugged the crap out of me. It's personal preference really..

I get it. Well I'll try it out and see... I guess no better way to learn then to experience it first hand Thanks!
I was able to take the Cog Beta 7 framwork and Tat's framwork. I pulled out all the changes from his theme and put them in cog beta 7. I actually did not have to edit any files and was able to apply it.
I had to change a few file names around so all the backgrounds / pop ups applied to the theme. I left DG's background.
I don't want to post it since it is not my own work but if you want to take a look at the framwork and twframwork I can send them PM.
notification bar??
What file is the actual notification bar with the battery/clock/etc... would it be inside twframework-res.apk or framework-res.apk?
EDIT: Just set background transparency to 80% in photoshop and changed the color to black. The transparency seems ok, but it resembles minimalistic theme too much... gonna fiddle with it some more today.

it is in the framework.apk. The notification bar's file is:
statusbar_background.9.png
This is confirmed. I j ust set mine to a gradient and it actually looks kind of good.

Hey Malfunction,
Finally got it working past the galaxy S screen, thanks for the info. One last question, then I should be out of your hair. Where can I change the settings for the media scanning icons? Currently, the white default icons are showing, but I'm trying to change that to the black SD card. I'm going to look into it myself too; figured I'd ask though.
Thanks,

Good deal, glad you got it working. What was the problem?
As for the SDCard- depends which you need. In framework-res there are these 3:
stat_notify_sdcard.png
stat_notify_sdcard_prepare.png
stat_notify_sdcard_usb.png
I had to do some hunting to find out which program was the running process for the Media Scanner. It is "MediaProvider.apk" on your /system/app folder. I edited mine and it now works and has all the Tat icons loaded. Thanks for that heads up I hadnt noticed that little piece before you mentioned it.
I looked at Tat's ROM section and also saw that he has edited these, may consider if you are wanting to mimick his:
DownloadProvider (Market)
MediaProvider (Media Scanner)
Vending (Market)
PackageProvider.apk (Uninstallation Screen)
GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk (Google Search)

Sony XAV-AX100 change startup logo.

I have added a utility to my git repo to change the startup logo. Instructions are below, use at your own risk and all that.
Logo requires a 800x480 image. Any format should work. If the image is not 800x480 it will resized.
This release requires cygwin and my modified firmware to be installed.
1. Install cygwin
2. Extract all the files in logo.zip to your pc.
3. Open a cygwin shell and navigate to the extracted directory.
4. Run ./createXAVlogo.sh and pass the input file. ex ./createXAVlogo.sh input.jpg
5. Copy usbexecute, flash_erase, and newlogo.img to a usb stick.
6. Insert it into radio, flash will auto start.
7. When unit reboots remove usb stick. New logo should now display.
8. Remove copied files form usbtick.
Do we just download the "logo.zip" file? or do we click on the "clone or Download button" from the previous directory and download all the files again? I have already installed your disable files to radio?
Just a little nervous about doing this right so I don't brick a new radio. LOL
Thanks for all you have done with this

I added all the files in one zip to make it a little easier so no need to clone it. This update is fairly safe. On my test unit I completely wiped the logo partition and was still able to boot. There is always a small risk though.
I added a windows batch file version. Cygwin is no longer needed.
Color change
Hey @superdave, I tried this earlier this morning and everything works fine, I just have one problem. I used the same picture I used for the background and even though the bootup picture did change the blue part of the logo turned red for some reason. Your converted_preview.tiff shows the right picture so Idk what's going on. I'm using your firmware for the caution screen disable btw. I'm going to try a different usb and maybe another logo with the color blue in it to see if it does it again.

I just noticed this as well. In my case the red turned to blue. Pretty sure I know the issue. I'm checking this now.
Ok @superdave so I actually just tried another usb. Same problem, with the first usb I used the cygwin method and it was formatted in ntfs. The second usb I used the windows batch method and it was formatted in FAT32. Same results on both. The custom logo works fine as a background but when I set it as the bootup picture too the bootup one changes the blue part of the logo to like a maroon red. It's weird. I'm going to try another blue logo soon.

No, shouldn't have too. Are you using the . Sh or the. Bat?

Yeah, it's normal. Just warning messages since we're not using any config files.
@superdave, Yea the .sh did the same thing, the blue part of the logo is red. Maybe it just doesn't like my picture lol.

I just tried your image and it worked fine. Maybe try deleting the files off the USB first?
Edit: I just posted a new version that deletes the files if they exist first. I also just noticed I did not update the logo.zip before.

Works Great! Just downloaded everything again and used the logo.zip. I was only using the logo.zip before you fixed it so it makes sense as to why it wasn't working when you had fixed it already.
Thanks a lot man! I got a 2 year protection on the radio, so if you ever need a guinea pig for any update I'm here lol.
Working well, but I am having trouble trying to get the boot logo background to match the wallaper background of the unit (I want a logo on the boot screen, but logo-less on the desktop).
The luminance of the boot image seems to be massively boosted, and I am having trouble trying to match them. Anyone arty enough to work out what's going on? Or some Paint.NET adjustments to make to get them to match? Attached my image I am using. (Feel free to use it if you want)
I just tried to convert the image but the program just exits after I enter the file name and enter. Tried with different name, with and without file type, still exits without converting it.
EDIT:
damn antivirus! it blocked the operation without notifying me about its actions. it works!
EDIT 2: my radio won't update. I've put everything in its place and it doesn't do anything. tried also with update folder and without, no success
I plugged in my pendrive and the radio did nothing. I have the firmware on the version 1.02.06. Any tips?
Help for a non-Windows user...
I'd love to update the logo at startup, but I don't have a Windows PC. Would anyone be so kind as to convert 2 logos for me?
