diamond2 needs reset to wakeup! Please help! - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Happened this morning, I noticed that my diamond2 is not responding when pressing the power button as usual... black screen!
It wakes-up in two cases:
1. soft reset with the stylus.
2. removing the battery and putting it back then pressing the power button.
This happens after I leave it turned off for 5 minutes. It is working fine as long as I don't turn it off. When it is off 5 minutes then no response!
Note: I am using the latest htc rom.
Don't know if this is a software or hardware problem. Any help is much appreciated.

I have actually had a fairly similar problems with my TD2. Not regular and not at spercific times like after 5 minutes but there have been times when my screen doesn't want to turn back on, the device is still on because it still make some of the regular sounds, eg the ping on the home button but the screen is dead.
Like you it will only wake again after a battery out reset, sometimes after several attempts.
I'm pretty sure this is hardware related as like you i'm on an official rom. The first time this happened was after using the phone as a modem and it got quite hot so i think perhaps heat is loosening the connection to the screen, only a guess though so any other opinions welcome.

After trials for 8 hours, I figured out a work around.
I Forced the mobile to work in the GSM only band, from that moment, it is back to normal... 3G is important to me, but I think I will wait until the WinMobile 6.5 is out for our TD2... may be this will solve the issue!

Hard reset it at least once..... That may take care of the freezing issue.

This one also did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions!

Problem solved
As I guessed, it was a network error and problem sovled after changing my Sim Card and getting a new updated one from the Service Provider!
Now my TD2 can sleep well and get back whenever called

6.5 is out, has been out for a while now for the TD2...What are you waiting for, might solve this issue...gogogo!

I am afraid I have to bump the thread.. I received my device from the HTC service with a new 6.5 ROM installed, and I started having this problem. The deviced sleeps and does not react to pressing Power button, neither to pulling the stylus. The only way how to wake it is to remove the battery and switch it on again. Any idea how to solve this?

The same problem

My TD2 starts the same problem . After some standby time the power button stops working. I tryed to re-flash ROMs , Hard Reset, Change the battery, and nothing solve the problem. The Power Button not working! The only way is soft reset... Any idea?

This is referred to as the "Standby of Death"
The only fix I am aware of is to flash a custom ROM.

hello guys. there is no need to flash a new rom. i had same issue, but hard reset and backup restore helped me. try this on your phone. for back-up, use sk tools

HELP! I've looked through a thousand+ posts...

I recently falshed the new WM6.1 ROM from the HTC website. The only problem I can't seem to get around is when the phone is locked and put in sleep mode, a few seconds later the screen will flash white for a second. And then periodically blink white. Mainly I don't want to waist precious battery life. Its now driving me insane. I've looked and searched for hours on hours and can't find anything like this.
I've hard reset, soft rest. Got rid of the bloatware. But still got this blink.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I've came across this several times with many 6.1 roms. I am not sure if a fix exists. However, this has never bothered me. I simply click the power button twice and the blinking stops. Hope this does the same for you.
All The Best.
Same thing happens to me. I will be watching to see what the response is. Bugs me too. No idea how many times that's happening while it's in my pocket or something - not good for battery life and can't be good for the screen either...

As already mentioned several WM 6.1 ROMs suffers from screen flashes relating to power management issues. Using the latest HTC WWE WM 6.1 ROM the TyTN II will occasionally require two button presses to come out of power saving mode.
If you were happy/happier with the WM 6.0 ROM complain to your ROM provider and if necessary request it be reverted (or read up here and once you know whats required, do it yourself). I don't see any 'new' official ROMs coming for this device now it's comparitively elderly, so I think it'll be up to you to come up with a solution.
HTC has provided an HotFix for that issue at :
AT&T Tilt WM 6.1 Backlight HotFix
But Truely speaking, I installed and it didn't worked for me.
It might work for you, so just give a try.
Regards,
Thanks guys. I'll try the double push of the power button and see if it works, if not I live with it a little longer, till I go mad.
If I can't take it anymore I'll just re-flash to a different ROM.
Once again, thanks for the replies.
By the way the BACKLIGHT HotFix didn't work for me either. I think thats mainly to fix issues with the backlight timer always reverting back to 10 seconds, no matter what the user setting is.

X1 won't boot at all

I've got an X1 here that's not booting at all anymore. No matter what I try, it won't boot. When I connect it to the computer it's being detected as Microsoft USB Sync and that's all I'm getting from the phone. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Remove the battery cover and take out the pen. You will find a hole on the right side at the bottom that would be covered by the pen if were inside. This is the location of the reset button. Keep pressing that button with the pen for about 5 to 10 seconds. Helped me boot my phone two times already when it didn't do anything anymore.
Apparently the problem is the battery, it appears to not be able to charge whatsoever. Going to try a different one later on. Appreciate the help though

I agree...........
Hmm, I think the problem might be the ROM. It started acting up after I installed Energy ROM on the device. Any thoughts?

you did a hard reset after flashing?
in case the answer is yes and you really think it's rom related best address the respective rom thread
if other users encounter(ed) the same issue the best chance of finding the solution will be there
if everything else fails you might have to flash again...
I'm just going to re-flash it then, if it doesn't solve the problem I can always flash it back. Will report back.
It's been charging all day now, it's charging quite slow though. However, it appears to work just fine now, it's just that the battery is acting quite weird. Going to test it tomorrow to see if it acts up again.
Thanks for the help

Touch diamond 2 Standby.

Hi all,
Since 2 days i have a Touch diamond 2, i hard SPLed it and flashed serveral roms and i liked the Energy rom the most so thats on it now. now my problem is nomatter wich rom it can't standby properly.
If i press the power button (to put it in standby) it wakes op 3 seconds later or so. it doesn't happen every time but it happens often.
What to do about this??
Greetings
Try this cab.
Also, make sure you're hard resetting after reach flash or previous settings could be retained.
what does the cab do? cause it locks thats not the problem only problem is it won't stay in standby every time.
Sets it to autolock.
You probably changed a registry setting when you installed those tweaks, so this will hopefully restore it.
i tried the cab and it doesnt fix my problem i already told you it locks fine when i put it on standby it only wakes up by itself...

There are other power settings in the cab from my registry and I do not have this problem so I thought it may solve your issue.
You probably need to hard reset.

[FIX][08.04.2011]Patch for "Screen won't come on after device wakes" (RHO_S2_00895)

[FIX][08.04.2011]Patch for "Screen won't come on after device wakes" (RHO_S2_00895)
Problem: Device doesn't come back from suspended mode. Pressing the power button, sliding out the keyboard or taking out the stylus does nothing.
Occurrence: Random.
Quick fix: None known.
Request: Kinda all over the Rhod forums.
Affected ROMs: HTC Stock S2 2.07, all custom roms based on 2.07 drivers. Probably 2.10 drivers are partly affected too.
Patch:
For stock roms (standard HTC patch package, .exe)
For custom roms (download this if you're unsure, works for stock roms too)
For cooks (extract and put into OEMDrivers)
Thanks!
Let's see (in time) if the SOD's are finished for us.

.......Done
Installed. Didn't work . I think the flex cable is crapping out. Also had the problem where if the screen was fully slid, it'd black out. Now it's been like that every postion.
Although, the power button works to turn the screen off, it won't turn it back on.
It doesn't work for me either
The only thing that I was able to install on my Tilt 2 (latest stock ROM) was this file Jackos RHO_S2_00895.cab
Nothing changed.
The screen goes on but what stays off is the backlight and the only way to get the backlight to stay on in a reboot. Then try to adjust the brightness from the settings menu and moving the slides doesn't do anything. The brightness stays to the max no matter what.
Is it the light sensor? can it be disabled or checked somehow?
Thanks anyway I hope your fix helps others,
G

Does it sometimes don't come back or always?
SoD, Sleep Of Death, so called the hangup issue does happen only after the device is suspended for a long time. It does occur kinda often, but not always if you turn off the screen. If your device never comes back from standby it isn't a problem with SoD for sure.
That would be my [email protected] cable....

The exe file (for stock roms) is intended to work on Europe roms. I have no knowledge of HTC releasing this patch for other regions.
It's no fix for any problem with the phone The patch doesn't even touch the backlight thing.

It happens all the time. I turn the phone on via the power button. Boots up. Let it sit till backlight goes off. Press power button, nothing happens.
I can turn the phone on, press the power button to turn the backlight off and when I press it again, nothing happens.

I do not think it's a flexcable problem. If I can turn the screen off and power on the device with the 'power button', it has to be something software.
I have to check again if the device comes back on, but with really really low backlight.
It's annoying, I have to restart to see a text, missed call, etc.
Thanks for your help so far.
Won't wake up
I tried loading this patch after doing yet another hard reset to try to recover from these outages. It doesn't work. Within an hour of installing it, the problem came back. My specific problem is the system goes to sleep after a minute, and it usually comes back with the power button. But after normal usage for awhile (sometimes hours, sometimes weeks without a problem), it goes to sleep and needs a red-button-reset to turn back on. Then as soon as it goes to sleep again after powering up, it's off forever. The only real recover after reaching this "cycle of death" is a hard reset (full memory erase, back to factory settings). Then it will work normally again for awhile.
I'm not sure if this is exactly the problem the other submitters were seeing, but it is surely related.
I'm off to do yet another factory reset. WM 6.5 is not worth a tinker's damn.

It's a pity that it doesn't work for you. This is a patch for Europe branded devices, I don't even see the fix at any other region-based HTC support site.
Personally I never experienced SoD, so I cannot guarantee that it does work. All I know is that this fix is supposed to help with "constant hang". Whatever it is. It's a official fix and I didn't encounter any problems with running it on my Europe branded Rhod.
Jackos is this in your ROM? I have found several times my TP2 needs a reset as the power button does not bring it life. If I take the stylus out (when this happens) the row of keys light up, but still the display is blank. I assume it's already in your ROM (Jackos S3 1.1.2 SleekBASIC) otherwise I would have installed it.
It's going to be included from version 1.1.3 and up.

So...how do I uninstall it? I am on sprint in the US and have the latest official win 6.5 ROM and downloaded this update on my phone through a tech website and after installing it none of my keys works except for the power button. Apparently being for Europe it has corrupted my phone and none of the talk, end, windows, back or keyboard buttons work now. I need to revert this update, is there a way without doing a hard reset. I don't want to reconfigure all my settings that aren't backed up.

If anything really fails, navigate into /Windows/ directory using your favorite file manager and "delete" those two files:
Code:
debuglog.dll
HtcPm.dll
Probably deleting the second file should fix your keyboard issues.

[Q] Screen not waking up while on phone call

Hi,
I have a brand new Xperia SP, manufactured on 2013/W50, so it's really new. It contains the latest stock firmware.
After I start or answer a call and put the phone to my ears, it's screen doesn't came back and remains off until the call is ended by the other party. No matter if I'm moving the phone away from my head, not even the hard buttons are turning the screen back on. The touchscreen is not working either. It's just stuck as if it's near to my head. I can't even hang up the call...
It happens about 80% of time. Sometimes it works as expected without any problems. Happens more often when having an incoming call after a longer period (30+ mins) or if the call takes more than 1 minute (auto screen disable time?).
As a workaround, I turned on the function that power button hangs up call, but I cannot use my touchscreen while call.
I checked the proximity sensor with the phone's diagnostic function and with cpu-z and the sensor is just working fine 100% of the time.
Is it a known bug or a hardware problem? Does it have a workaround?
hmmm

Bring it to a sony service(or how's it called to your country)
it seems it's related to deep sleep. when I am called after the phone was left for 30+ minutes, it's more willing to not turning on the screen, but it turns it on after a while if having a long call. when I start the call, it mostly works. not always, but most of the time.
so it seems it's not sensor-related but something like the software is bugging.
what I don't really understand, why the hardware buttons are disabled while phoning when the phone is put to the face. it'd be enough to code that power button turns on/off the screen no matter what the proximity sensor says. I'd program it like that as a backup solution.
I wouldn't send it for repair, here in Hungary I always hear that mobile phone services just reinstall software and don't care about testing or finding the problem (if not deterministic), and do it again and again while you get tired and accept the failure. yes, it's sad but in the time of MNCs, the user doesn't matter at all after bought the product.

yes, that's another option. the other option is to cry off from purchase (I can do it within a week), they return the money, and I buy another one. I'll see as this is not that disturbing problem and I have no other problems with the phone like wifi bug or anything else.
someone said it's a bug so I hope 4.3 next month will solve it.
