i have got a lot of decent wallpapers for my htc saved on my phone
when i set them as wallpaper why is it only a certain bit of the wallpaper can be set as wallpaper, the green outline comes and you have to select which bit you want to set as wallpaper
any workaround this?
thanks
The green selection box does come up but if you stretch it can select the majority of the wallpaper and set it. Other than that make sure they are the right res?

Maybe I'm missing something? Whenever I go to set a picture in my gallery as a wallpaper, it becomes ridiculously zoomed in and grainy?
I haven't had my phone that long but I've looked and I'm sure I'm forgetting to check something somewhere or something... anyone know what i'm not doing?
The picture I set as a wallpaper always looks fine in the gallery..
I believe android only supports 16 bit wallpapers. You are seeing color banding. I noticed it too.
ya but why does it zoom in on the picture? the picture included in the crop box isn't even all there

Have you tried holding the border of the crop box and expanding it as large as possible?
Also, the, "Backgrounds" app sets nice, clear wallpapers if you set them from within the app.
Wallpaper set and save fixed it for me.
go get a free app called flikie wallpaper and use that to set backrounds, even your own pics or whatever the pic may be, when the phone asks what program to use to set wallpaper, use this app ( you will see the icon there)
should help i have huge crisp wallpapers and love them

In order to get the wallpaper to look properly without zooming in on part of the picture, the picture has to be resized to 960x800, then the wallpaper will look sharp. Try this wallpaper and see if it works for you if it does then the issue is the size of the wallpaper your using.
Ok I just downloaded the wallpaper I uploaded but the size changed. So forget about the idea lol. Just take a wallpaper with a high resolution and use paint the resize it and upload it the your phone. Apply it as a wallpaper and your done.
I tried to both of those apps and neither let me set a picture saved on my phone. I tried making the crop box small, big, nothing works

2 things:
Make sure all of your wallpapers are 960x800.
I'd recommend using either Flikie HD, or Zedge. Personally I use Flikie, and when I find a new wallpaper, I put it in the Flikie/wallpaper folder, and load it like normal; selecting Flikie, navigate to your flikie wallpaper folder and it'll set the wallpaper proportional to the screen
Both Flikie and Zedge have a great selection of wallpapers too
Flikie is not bad! I'm crazy about it recently!
I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but..
1. First make sure the resolution is correct
2. If you tap on the orange border arrows should come up and then you can use them to resize. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time.
Orange square is for resizing when choosing wallpapers. Drag the corner of it to make it as big as possible
What is the correct size for the wallpaper for a Inc S/2? I am trying to set wallpapers using Tasker, but they keep winding up getting cropped and look odd. What size should the images be?
Just download wallpaper wizardrii best app to set wallpaper crop, no crop, exact everything
Problem is I am trying to set the wallpaper with Tasker....
800h*960w
you need to double the weidth
so 800*480 becomes 800*960
960x800 works perfectly
Thanks for this size I was getting quite frustrated when trying to add a portrait picture as my wallpaper
Below is the image I always use as a template, as the red area shows what will be displayed on the center screen

Wizardii seems like a great little app to help set wallpapers. I use the no scroll setting. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii&feature=search_result

I'm trying desperately to love my android device, but it keeps tripping me up with stupid things that I swear shouldn't be this difficult.
Latest issue is that I have a gorgeous 1080x1920 wallpaper that I would like to set as my background. Considering the M7 has a 1080x1920 resolution you'd think that this would be a match made in heaven, but NO for some reason both the gallery app and es file explorer are forcing me to resize the wallpaper to some awful square resolution that kills the quality of the wallpaper.
Reading around I understand that this may be due to the wallpaper scrolling feature, but if that's so I'd just like to switch that feature off and have my background be static. Can I find such an option....nope.
So please, someone put me out of my misery.

Funnily enough I've downloaded that and a load of other wallpaper apps and none get it perfect.
With the app above, if i select a 1080x1920 wallpaper and tell it not to resize, it looks perfect in the preview, but as soon as I apply it, there is a 15mm black border at the bottom of the home screen. It's almost like its reserving some space form the 3 dot menu.
It's driving me f**(^ing insane. I cant believe android is so retarded. Even Windows 3.1 could set a bloody wallpaper full screen.

Let's keep in mind that it's not Android that's stupid, it's Sense (at least parts of Sense). Stock Android/CM/etc can set full res wallpaper images without issue.. You could probably even set a full res wallpaper with a 3rd part launcher
I've got a new wallpaper jpg 1440 x1280, which is correct for the sllding wallpaper. But when I go to install in Settings, all the choices want to crop so it just fits into Home and then, of course, doesn't slide.
I did this once, but now have forgetten.
Any help appreciated.
