Slow Cooked ROMs - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi, i've searched the forum, but I'ven't found nothing, so please forgive me, if this issue was already posted.
I'm a touch hd user for a while, since I bought it i've always used cooked roms, miri's, dutty's, kwbr's.
Probably due to continue flashing different roms my hd became very slow and the iterfaces became not smooth. Reading in the forum I found someone suggesting to reflash the stock rom to "reset" the device from different changes. I've tryed for a while the stock rom and is icredibly fast and smooth, pretty strange...
Done that I tryed some htc sense rom, i've tryed all of them and the graphic smoothness is reallt bad expecially in the music tab in landscape mode and in the footprints tab.
What i'm asking is: is my hd a dumb, or maybe the hardware requirements do not allow to operate smoothly with that roms.
Tech Data:
I always flash copying the BLACIMG.nbh on the storage card, for me it looks safer and quicker.
I've tryed installing gfxboost and neos driverpack, nothing changed...
Hope you can help
Best regards, and thanks for your awesome work here.
Nicola
P.S. sorry if I made some grammar mistakes

If you use any of the manila 2.5 ROMs, then they WILL be comparitively slower than the manila 2.1 ROMs.
Its because, the graphical requirements are not enough with the hardware of HD.
They are made for a superior hardware device -the HD2.
If you want a faster ROm-use wm6.1 or wm6.5 with manila 2.1
If you want features- go with slower newer ROMs

I also tried a lot of roms and noticed that the poor performance of my HD is due to manila 2.5 and not from WM 6.5.
To win speed you must install a clear Rom just like Miri's XtraLight Rom and then install the shell that you want.
This is what I did:
I flashed Miri's ExtraLight and installed Spbmobileshell with the Sense UI skin found at www.mobilecustom.fr to have the modern look.
And the results where amazing:
Not only my device is now very smooth and fast but it has also more than 120 mb free even with spbmobileshell installed while I was having only 80~70 mb free with manila 2.5.

many thanks, i will try your solution

Touchflo3d CAB or 6.5 or cooked ROMs??

Once again, im a little confused...i have a brand new X1..am thinnking what should I do...
should i upgrade to WM 6.5..(I dont want a cooked ROM, iwant an official 6.5 OS that i can install, upgrade, like we do when we go to Vista to Win7 etc.
BTW: Can u provide me a link for an unofficial but clean OS)
OR
Should I go on installing a cab of a TouchFlo3d
OR
Flash my X1 with a cooked ROM (still cant understand which one)
Thanx a lot..
Personally if your even contemplating flashing your X1, you might as well go with one of the 6.5 builds, they are far superior in My Opinion to the 6.1
there are several good ones out there, so its personla choice as to which you use, I guess it depends on Features cooked in, applications, battery life, stability etc.
Flash Cooked ROM with 6.5. Recent ones are very fast due to having better drivers support as opposed to stock roms
Cab of TF3D won't be optimized.. would be sluggish
alrite i agre with what you are saying cykalu, but then again, these cooked ROMs wont be originals rite? and not only that, are they all BETA or full and final ROMs??
Just wanted to know...

They won't be original but Sony Ericsson decided not to give X1 users the latest (6.5) updates. Therefore all cooked 6.5 roms are much better than original because the chefs has included and tweaked around with X2's drivers so X1 can use them which are more optimized than SE's stuff.
Beta or no Beta, as long as they work it's good. look at Windows 7 RC2, it's beta but it was basically the final after a few minor patches..
If you aren't a user who likes fiddling with your device I recommend you stick with stock ROMs. Cooked ROMs usually have bugs which range from minor to game-ending (e.g. the reset bug that seems to exist in every cooked ROM).
Personally I'm not a fan of Touchflo (especially the Leo version), it makes the inconsistent WM interface even more inconsistent.
If you really want WM6.5, flash gtrab's 5.07 ROM and install the X2 cabs from the themes and applications forum. It'll be as close as you can get to a WM6.5 ROM upgrade. There are only two bugs with this ROM that I've found, one of which is fixed by installing the X2 dialer (the other one is the reset bug that every ROM seems to have). Just sync with MS My Phone or something to minimise the impact.

I know exactly how you feel about modifying your new xperia...I was like this one month ago...My xperia is only 3 months old so I was little nervous....So I went through all the flashing tutorials in here and also downloaded BioVolt's video tutorials...And one month back I flashed my xperia for the first time...I flashed it with the Xperia Unoffcial release ROM, I did all the steps exactly as it was mentioned in the tutorials and my xperia was flashed successfully...but after that I tried to do the hard reset, I wasnt able to do hard reset twice...I thought I bricked my phone ....i was little panic...I once again went through the tutorials and done it third time...This time I was able to do a hard reset successfully and my phone booted up with the new Unofficial Xperia 6.5...after that I flashed 2 or 3 ROMs and finally sticked up with Sonblack's SB20 release which I found to be stable, fast and attractive with its touchflow manila interface...I dint had any weird experience with this one...

Which Rom can give good speed?

I am currently using Duttys Leo HG Multi-Lang V1.9 WWE but to me it seems really slow... specially when I am typing a text and receive another text... sometime I have to turn off the phone because it freezes completely.
So is there any other Rom that you think is faster from your experience?
Balaji v6.0
Fast stable and no nonsense
If you're looking for raw speed, try out some of the roms that are based on wm 6.1 + sense 2.1.
There are several out there, most popular beinh Topix or Parks Basic..... all of them are really fast, free loads of ram to run several apps at the same time and are also better on battery. If you're not bothered by wm 6.1, give them a try!!
Don't expect miracles. Speed=Wimo 6.1 + Manila 2.1
try cloudy 1.5 speed and no bugs found yet
very nice rom
I don't agree about Cloudy 1.5 rom. I found some issues on it (see the thread). I'm searching another rom to replace Cloudy's... so many buggy roms, I got tired to search a fast and clean one...
NRG PHOENIX 2 Build 21892 from 4th Feb is a WM 6.5 ROM with Manila 2.1 SENSE
And i can say that is WITHOUT ANY BUGS .. SPEED SMOOTH and free of Bugs.
Now im using PHOENIX Build 21893 from 16 Feb is the same like 4 feb release the diference is in the PagePool and this release have only one BUG the add new contact from the dialer not work but i don`t care im using this because i like the new Dialer much.
If you are looking for a serious FAST and Bug free ROM then just download PHOENIX 2 build 21892 from 4th February also download the PagePool CHanger here from XDA
And you can change the PagePool from 22 to 18MB witch i think is good combination
Then Flash and will see for what im talking about...
One of my FAV ROM`s
He seek a clean rom
No manilla,
No titatium
Topix 3.5.6....the fastest and most stable rom. And trust me...I've tried a lot of them!

Onkolog Superlite 6.1 + MShell3 it's the best choice, a rocket!
Yes Onkolog Xtralite 6.1 is the best choise. However, I think is a old rom. I'm seeking for the new best Xtra light rom and it's very difficult. For this moment, I am on Topix 3.5.6 and it's a good rom. Perhaps, one day, Onkolog, or another chief, will continue that work on Xtralite ROM.... I hope ...
Yes, it's old but is the only clean ROM i know based on the last WM 6.1 build(21051). If u mount a Manila ROM and don't use it, u have thousand useless files and registry voices.
Try the speed difference, it's considerable

[Q] WM 6.5 "Pure" Rom?

I wanted to know if someone has , or knows of an untouched version of a WM6.5 rom for the Viva, similar to the wm6.1 that comes with the phone,at least in terms of installed stock programs, since I've tried every ROM available, but the most of them, doesn't have the phone pad with t9 in spanish, nor any of the standard keyboards and since I use spanish as my native language, I really need it.
And many of the available ROMS has too many tweaks that affect battery life, or some bugs that cannot allow the volume rocker to be locked, to mention some bugs.. I'd love to to cook a rom for my viva, if I knew how to do it, but since I don't know...
Thanks, pals!
Frank.
I think Jagan's Evolution Ultimate Beta is what you're looking for. It's not customized, and it's pure and light, and doesn't have any of the bugs you mentioned. You can flash it and customize it to your liking.
It doesn't have a Spanish keyboard, but you could use the original EzInput 1.5 keyboard (the same one as the stock 6.1 ROM). It has Spanish support with T9 too.
Download it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426281
CAUTION: The EzInput version 2 might cause some problems on WM6.5 so I recommend you install the older version 1.5 only!
You could also try FingerKeyboard which provides support for many languages including Spanish. Get it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501434
Good luck.
Ok, I've tried it, and I can't get to work Manila 2d & EZinput on it... any hints? Since I've already downloaded the Cab's but it doesn't work at all...
Try downloading this cab:
http://www.4shared.com/file/YW2_fEqG/BJK_HTC_EzInput_QVGA_EN_FR_DE_.html
It works for me, and I can switch languages and other keyboards. But make sure you uninstall all the previous keyboards before trying this cab.
As for Manila 2D, try the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541750
Carefully follow the instructions there to make it work on your device. Other users have tried it and it works for them. I didn't try it myself because I'm using SPB Mobile Shell instead of Manila 2D so I don't know if it's going to work with you or not.
In case it doesn't work, why don't you try flashing the Evo 2.5A ROM?
Thanks for the support, GFX! I've finally got all to work! I've used the tools you posted on your first reply, for some reason I couldn't do it before.. strange.. All worked out like a charm after a 2nd reflash...weird, huh? Well, I appreciate your effort, thanks a lot!
Frank.
PS: Do you know if Manila 1.2 is available for WM6.5?

You're welcome!
Glad it worked out with you.
Enjoy your Viva..
Well,I'll give some feedback:
After some testing, tweaking, hard-resetting and so, I decided to give up TOUCHFlo,and stick to WM6.5's normal gui, since it Manila doesn't work well on wm6.5 viva, manila 2d 2.0 after full installing, it becames too heavy for the phone, it gives ~35mb of free memory, manila 2d 1.2 has better performance, around ~70mb of free memory, but is a beta and it's not complete, since many of the tabs don't work.
I've tried almost any WM6.5 rom posted here, and in other forums, like the PhamQuang ones (from V21 to V27), the older evolution series (Evo,Evo+,Evo ESN,Evo2, Evo2.5A), Angel Azul, Angel negro, and some others I don't remember. This is the most stable rom that I've tested, it's fast, almost bugless, and clean, GFX was right. I totally recommend it.
By the way, which UI do you use? I want some fast & lightweight one.

Hello there, I flashed my phone several times, and I've chosen the Basics 6.5 Sense 2.1 until a new version of the same is released (I hope so). It is in my opinion the most stable and fastest ROM for diamond. Good battery life

Moved to general as not development.
Please don't use huge text either. Just write normally.

I too have flashed to the Basic 6.5 Sense 2.1. Like it

number part of qwerty not working in Energy ROM :(

this Energy ROM seems very good.BUT: why if I press the numbers on qwerty with FN then only signs like (!*/ etc appear ? So I have to use on-screen keyboard for numbers, what a fail! I didn't mess with nor find any setting for that!
Tried 21916 and 29022 version of the standard ROM and it's the same issue
Can't post in the ROM's thread as I'm new user
Well read in the ROM thread that just those last versions have this keyboard bug and the creator seemingly does not have time to fix this
what other WM 6.5 - finger friendly - not too slow - bug-free ROM to use ?
I'm trying the 826X rom ... It's my first flashed rom, so I don't have much experience but I'm very comfortable with it and it's very stable and fast ... even faster than the normal win 6.5 and with much better look ... give it a try and u might find ur solution
thanks, I've already installed the826x too and it seems best (of those with sense at least) as many others agree
