Change the default keyboard? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to change the default (onscreen) keyboard
I know you can go to
Settings > Personal > Input . Input Method > ....
and change it there.. but mine always defaults back to the normal keypad every time..
Yet i would like it to either be "full qwerty" or "phonepad"
is there a registry change maybe?
Thanks

If you have SK-tools, you can change the default keyboard to any built-in or 3rd party keyboard you want.
You don't even have to buy it, it works even on trial.

there is also a tiny free program called sip change
which change the default input device
phonepad is default on my x1

ahh, i do have sktools.. but where do i find the SIP changer option? there are practically thousands of different options to wade through with that programme..
would be easier to have a registry change though

Try this, it works.

sipchange works, but sometimes it's a pain to get the right amount of delay.
sktools are the more "elegant" solution, change it once and it stays that way.
category "maintenance" -> input methods -> tab & hold on the keyb you wish to make default -> "set as default"
sktools will ask if you're really sure etc... then do a restart.

thanks guys

Replace Virtual Keyboard with SPB Keyboard

Greets,
I have been trying to figure out how to change the regular on-screen keyboard from the Tilt to the SPB Full Screen Keyboard.
Since I do not want to change from the real keyboard (as an option), the "Input" control panel isn't the right choice.
I just want to make the SPB Keyboard come up when I hit that little keyboard icon which comes up on the bottom of the screen.
Any ideas?
This should allow you to change the default keyboard.

Try this directly. It's a keyboard that works as default properly. you don't need any external tools.

can't set keyboard any more (always qwertz)

Since a few days I cant set the soft-keybord in my xda diamond any more. It's now set as 'complete QWERTZ' and I like to set the phone-keybord but the small arrow next to the keybord symbol doesn't work.
Even when I open the input-settings under system-prefernences I can change the kind of keyboard but when I re-open the settings page it's again set as QWERTZ.
I tried some soft-resets and searched the forum.. Do anybody knows a solution??
you have qwertz keyboard??
how do you have it i have qwerty
May I know how to set the Font for the keyboard.
I'm having 'Courier' instead of 'Tahoma'.
Thanks in anticipation.

Is really the Font of your keyboard Courier or the trext you write with it?
If the Text is Courier you can set it in the Programm u use for typing, if the keyboard layout is really courier perhaps the font-file ist missing!?
Don't anybody has a Idea? I don't like to do an hard-reset because of that..
Hi, it's the the keyboard's font that tend to be in Courier, but changes sometime (Tahoma or back to Courier) after every soft-reset.
I didn't install any software to SMS or email.
Btw, kindly guide how to change the text font that we're typing (first time PPC user ).

That don't work! =(
I can change that setting but it don't take effect. And when I reopen the settings page after changing its "complete QWERTZ" again.
The only thing that had worked today is opening an program that that is using the keyboard-icon at other place and layout (like TRE Regeditor > small icon at the right bottom side). That was the only Programm where this arrow next to the the keybord-icon works. But even now I can't change the keyboard in any other programs, only in TRE. Don't know why =(

Manual Landscape

I have been looking through all the settings on the D2 to manually change the screen to landscape as I used to be able to do on the Touch cruise but without success the G-Sensor is a bit of a hit and miss and only works on some programmes. I would like to use landscape with Navigon 7 anyone know how to do this ?
The TF3D interface does not work in landscape on default, there is an app available for it here
you can go to settings>all settings>system tab>screen and change the orientation, somehow this only works one time for me, it just changes back automatically.
in Navigon (I don't have this) there is probably an option where you can change the orientation
edit: change the orientation to landscape in the screen settings, and then start navigon.
Tnks for the reply TK tried the tweak did not seem to do anything apart from restarting the D2 there are no settings in the screen tab for changing orientation just alighn, Cleartype and Text Size.
will have to keep looking.
somehow the tweak options end up in the all programs list, found under Manila Rotate On/Off.
maybe this option came with one of the programs installed ^^
After you do the manilla landscape you soft-reset and then it should be there for you to rotate stuff. Another app to try out is G-Config. Search for that on the forum. You can add automatic rotation to apps that don't support it after you add them to the list you soft-reset and then try it again. I've managed to put MSN, Skype etc on it.
installed Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3, start and then:
screen -> show orientation settings -> yes
then i configured the one button i can configure (left-bottom: press and hold):
settings -> all settings -> personal -> buttons -> <rotate screen>

What about the phone app? When you're in navigation Mode with MN|7 and a call comes in, the phone app is in portrait, right?
Does anyone know, how to turn the phone app to landscape?

WM6.5: Change t9 Input Language?

Hi all,
I've been using WM6.1 for a while now, and constantly switch between T9 Dutch and English. I've had many ROM's and after installing the "T9 14 Languages Update.cab" that's been hanging around these forums I always got access to different t9 languages via the little white triangle next to the keyboard icon when inputting text: fast and easy switching.
Now I've tried various WM6.5 rom's and while the T9 language cab installs fine, I don't know where to switch the language... It's not in the usual place, nor can I find it anywhere else.
Has anyone sucesfully managed to get this going? I'm using the Deeplightning ROM at the moment.
Thanks.
Anyone know anything about this?
I just go to options.
there you see input method (and your chosen one)
beneath that is another options button
and under there I can set the language.
make sure you have multiple languages installed, otherwise you don't see that 2nd options button

If I'm writing a message, and I tap the small white triangle, then go to options I only see input method. If I then g oto the second options tab at the bottom, I can only see options for 'voice recording format', zoom defaults, and some tick boxes. No language settings.

N preview bug?

I can't seem to find a way to change default keyboard after initial install of a new keyboard. By this I mean to say that, for instance, when I install swype the swype setup menu will allow me to select swype as default keyboard, but I can't do this from the language and input settings in settings and if I long press comma the only options I get are to change Google keyboard settings or language settings. I can't easily switch between swype and Google keyboard.
Anyone else? Maybe I'm just being an idiot?

Mine is working fine. When you go into language & input it should be under "virtual keyboard" and you can change it there.
