question about motoblur and using hero widgets... - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can anyone tell me if the people and twitter widgets can be integrated into either one of these new ROMs?
ive flashed motoblur but dont really like the way everything is like an rss feed with the happenings app
so i was thinking if i could install either widget and use them instead
or are they tied to the framework and are specific to hero?
thanks!

they are tied to hero framework. if they were portable without extreme difficulty...it would have been done by now

Hero apps on G1 rom?

I love the hero apps, the HTC contact manager, picture app and all that good stuff but can't stand being so limited by the hero rom. Is there anyway of using those apps on (for example) cyanogen 4 rom or something comprable? That cyanogen 4 is so smooth. Would look much better with some hero apps. People and that little lip with the phone and "+" sign is the ****.
I tried installing the apps after installing that rom and it tells me that it is not set up for my phone. Drats!

the sense widgets only work for sense and not vanilla, there are some alts on the market though.
I think he meant replacing the faves widget on our espresso sense with the contact widget that's on standard sense. You need to use a 2.1 sense rom which we do have floating around the development section and replace the apk but I don't think that would work or it would have been done by now

[Q] How to install aosp apps on doc rom

I have searched everywhere but can't find anything,
I would love to use the stock calendar app on doc's rom or any other rom for that matter. But i'm not able to find anything that works.
Does anyone know if this is even possible?
I've read that if you use the aosp mail app, the camera fc's.
But nothing about the calendar app.
I would love to know a bit more, I can't imagine it's that difficult.
There is a thread for stock eclair apps and I remember using them once, they seemed to work I recall.
If anyone knows a way I would love to know, I'm getting pretty frustrated with samsungs aproach to the calendar

Any idea how to install aosp calendar?
It's in the market.
You'll have to uninstall the Samsung one first, then reboot.
Sent from my Captivate.
No. The AOSP calendar is NOT in the Market.
I have the same question: how to get a working AOSP calendar in Froyo???
But in this strange sgs community, everybody seems to love so much the TouchWizz Calendar!
Bllblb. It's ugly, not practical, and you cannot read the events titles directly from the week view.
I succeeded installing the Calendar from a CM6.1 Nexus1 Rom. But not the Calendar sync. So it works, but you cannot choose wich calendar to hide.
So. I'm not responsible for nothing, but you can try what I have done.
Download the rom here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/187-update-cm-611-n1-signedzip/
Extract from system/app/calendar.apk
-> Or instead of 1. et 2. you can just download from here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18608283/Calendar.apk
On your sgs, use Root Explorer (or ADB if you know how). Delete (make backup first) TWcalendar.apk in system/app/ in your device.
Push the calendar.apk from the rom into system/app/ in your device.
Install it.
Reboot.
You're done. As I have said, the app works, but it Force Closes whenever you try to get in menu/more/calendars.
If somebody have an idea to get he whole thing working... It'd be great!

I don't think this is true either, where did you get this info from may I ask?
Thanks Judim but I have also tried that, had the same problem.
I'm using "Touch Calendar Free" at the moment, it's not as good as google's but still beats the living sh** out of samsungs...
Ah well if this thread bumps we'll just have to wait for CM7 to arrive or buy a Nexus S.
The first way is a bit cheaper though
Try also Business Calendar Beta from the Market. It could be a replacement waiting for a CM7.
I see you're also coming from the Hero... Small device but great CM roms
Cheers!
Here is an AOSP calendar app that I'm using on my Vibrant. It does have the fc issue when selecting more calendars, but does not have the dark bar at the top blocking week one of the month. It does have a skewed transparency up there, but its a mere annoyance and won't affect anything. Push to system/app. Oh the icon is ginger-green to match my rom, but thats all that I changed with the apk.

need HTC Calendar apk and HTC Calendar Widget apk

Please,
I need an information and, if that's possible some apk or link where download from.
Is it possible to install the HTC Calendar apk and the HTC Calendar widget apk on an Android ROM sense-less?
I've the last Android MIUI 1.4.15 on my HD2 and it's fantastic: the only thing I need from my previously Android Sense ROM is the HTC Calender and its widget.
But I've no idea if I can install something from HTC without Sense and its frameworks.
If all is not possible, can anybody suggest me some Calendar app with widget similar or better the HTC's one?
Thanks

i dont think so. i could be wrong though. been searching for long. no result.
for calendar. pure calendar widget gives a similar look to the original sense one. u can get it from android market.
Not possible. For all HTC related programs you need the HTC framework, which is obviously not part of any Sense-less ROM.
Well I unknowingly deleted an obviously vital apk from my HTC Shift and I was wondering if any of you know where I can download the apk for the HTC calendar or whatever calendar that I need in order for any calendar widgets that I download from the market to work.

[Q] Stock Motoblur Keyboard and Calendar APKs?

I switched to the Liberty Rom which is awesome, but I loved my stock motoblur calendar and keyboard. Does anyone know how to find them or get them back?
Steve
calendar .apk here, keyboard don't have ready yet
Sweet, thanks!
Wont install... what am I doing wrong?
non market app's allowed to install in your settings?
that's the only thing I can think of
No, I can install non market apps, I wonder if its the Liberty Rom. I tried to restore my calendar through Titanium and it wouldn't do it either. Oh well, I downloaded a different calendar which I am okay with for now.
Steve
could be, I know a lot of these blur items require other parts of blur to work
