here is a some pdf's from the fcc.
i have included the x2 manuel, x2 internal pics (showing cpu etc). I have also included the x1 internal pics so u can compare.

Looking at the user manual, its interesting to note that the speakers are NOT at the top and bottom of the phone, but there are two on the back above and below the battery cover.

would like to see this one...can somebody re-upload...not on rapid and mega...thanks.

Confirmed.
http://xperiancers.com/2009/09/30/x2-qa-responses/
We chose the Qualcomm 7200A for two reasons. 1: It is a chipset that we know and trust, we’ve been able to optimize the device to significantly improve its performance. We’ve also improved the way the device manages its memory so we get a better multimedia experience, a more responsive camera, panels and panel management. 2: We wanted the X2 to come in at a lower price point than the X1. Rather than start work with a whole new chipset we chose to develop what we were doing with the Qualcomm to maximize the power / speed / cost ratio.

So is the phone gonna be available in November? I understand that X2 is gonna be cheaper than X1 at launch but by how much? X1 was $799, and I think X2 should be about $200 cheaper to compete in today's market. I'm very interested in this phone but I'm not paying more than $600 for it and I don't think that I'm the only one.

Two things:
- If I am not wrong, as per the manual, the "dividers" between Call Key/SlideView key and OK/End Call key in the front of phone are not soft keys after all
- In item 11 of the manual, the optical joystick, it says that you can program it to "key press simulation". What is it? Can you use it for Media Players for next/back tracks (left and right directions) and volume up/down (up and down directions)? - sorry, never had or used an optical joystick, so have no clue about it or how it works.
Thanks.

#1 - Is a pity, really. Makes the device less interesting. Oh, we, orphans of hardware buttons...all manufacturers are abandoning us, in every Phone, every OS.
#2 - I hope it works with Pocket Player at least, which would compensate #1 for me .

OMG
SO THE X2 WILL BE A "CHEAP" SONY ERICSSON PHONE...
WHERE'S YOUR FLAGSHIP THEN ???
With such mid-range (was going to say "mediocre"...) specs the X2 would be a GOOD $500 BUCKS phone
Ain't "elite" SE's market niche ??
Am I wrong or are they going chinese-cheap ???
C'mon !!!

I have a feeling that SE are already sorry for that X2 ever came to light. They will be even *10 more sorry after 6 months period when they discover the sales of X2 eventually be low...

I'd be happy if SE would be the first ever utilize new ARM-style Marvell Armada 600 CPU 1.2GHz DDR2/3 (also they have Armada 1200 dual core for game consoles).
Next year Marvell promised 2GHz CPUs for smartphones with DDR3 support.
Currently they claimed Armada 600 1.3GHz is 1080p capable.

Thanks for the news, this is good stuff. I quite fancied the Sony err xperia 1 but then noticed in www.htc.com press release section (materials relating) mentions about them taking on the xperia. Could this mean hold backs on the possible identifying device..Who knows, but I still quite fancy it. And suppose if HTC do release the drivers at the end of March like metioned at www.htcclassaction.org then I would buy another HTC device although I would be more cautious and probably wait for a few people from here to get one first.
Thanks again for your blog!! Good reading..
Hope to hear from you again..

but reading....it seems S E won't even say if the video driver is going to be fixed...that is just making htc look even worse if you ask me. I think they are making the phone right? Bad sign, they are dodging things, and the phone hasn't even been released.....

Cause SE does not produces the Hardware. The internal PCB and all on-board is HTC OEM or ODm production.
HTC "might" again provide a chipset build without driver support. That is why.
Advice: Avoid Xperia as long S E does not confirm FULL specs of the Qualcomm CPU being used.

While I can't discosure the name of the manufacturer (they have asked me not to do so after our discussion), there is a far-east ODM that is working on the 3D Qualcomm drivers for their own Qualcomm-based devices. They stated they'd be ready in 2-3 months. They stated while they indeed have to do some manual coding, Qualcomm does (already) support 3D in the hardware.
You all know what this means - yes, we will hopefully be able to rip all those drivers after the (pretty close) release of the devices.
That definitely looks like something to look forward to. Please keep us informed, if you can.

Sure I will. Hope we can do some kind of a co-operation between the company in question and our Qualcomm coders / hackers with mutual benefits.
(I'm already discussing this stuff privately with other mods. Details aren't public as yet.)

The S-E rep I've in person talked to didn't want to comment on whether it will surely have 3D hardware acceleration or not - unlike what the flyier states (in there, they speak of 3D hardware acceleration).
However, a completely independent manufacturer is (also?) working on the drivers. I'll try to do some kind of a co-operation, if at all possible, between them and the XDA-Devs coders.
Yes, I read that as well (about independent manufacturer). I am really appreciate your effort.
After reading your latest blog entry regarding this Xperia and found about:
- It is still based on Qualcomm MSM7xxx
- It is still 128 MB RAM
- It is still 256 MB Flash
I am less excited ...
I meant compared to Kaiser, there are not much upgrade.
- More resolution (800x480), yes this nice, but 3"? Not really big boost compared to current QVGA. For sure, it will look nicer, but I would rather to have 640x480 ... and 3.5" screen!
- More CPU power, I think 400 vs 528 will not add a lot (remember, the RAM is still 128MB) ... 624 would be nice (and add more RAM )
- FM Radio? Hmm, I dont need this for sure ...
- Xperia Panel? Could be nice, but I will not upgrade just because of this
- Windows 6.1? Dutty has that already ...
The rest are the same (GPSOne, Camera, etc.).
Well, maybe it is just me, but I found Xperia X1 does not offer much upgrade to current Kaiser.

I would have more trust on that one as that "unknown" Xperia ODM manufacture would not be involved in the driver set-up

In the last one (I'm their tech editor), which will be published in the next issue, I've inserted two sentences mentioning the driver issue and pointing to this very forum. Haven't checked it myself as it's "just" a WinCE-based phone, not a WinMo one. Dunno if Engadget and the other sites covered it.
Albeit, I'm certainly interested in the S5L8900 chipset it has (the same as in the iPhone and is prolly much better than the old S3C244x in, say, the TyTN) (see http://www.gearlog.com/2007/07/iphone_processor_whats_with_th.php ). While I don't think it can beat the brand new S3C6400 / S3C6410, which will only be used later by devices from Samsung and E-ten (the latter was confirmed by a Samsung rep at MWC), it's certainly much better than the S3C244x and has, for example, 3D hardware acceleration support.

Help : 8/16 GB Diamond .. WM7??

1.Does diamond support Windows mobile 7 ?
2.Do U Think htc will release 8/16 GB Diamond?
what a random question. thres no evicence for either, but i doubt the storage upgrade. theyve done that with the advantage a year on, and everyone thinks its a waste of money.
but wm7, if its not officail, id guess the cooks will port it
Rory
I wouldn't rule out the storage upgrade. If HTC want the Touch Diamond to compete with the iPhone, they will have to do storage upgrades. Also, because I'm buying it, you know a better version is going to be released - it's my bad luck. (My Touch is a good example).
This may be a silly question but has anyone actually opened up their Diamond to see if it is possible to increase the Storage Memory? eg could it be possible to add/swap out the 4GB for more?

The Touch Pro is too big and I don't need a keyboard. The only thing stopping me from getting a Diamond right now is the 4GB memory...

You really don't need this.
Do you espect your 528MHz to listen+decrypt WEP/WPA wireless?
From my reading i dont think speed is an issue at all, as the program captures, then decrypts.

bernie is right, there is no reason to decrypt on the fly.
So there should be no problem, even with a phone that is not normaclocked.
The only problem you have when you do not decrypt on the fly, is you do not know how many packages you need, so you would end up with a full sdcard with dump data.
Yes this would be an awesome addition to the android.
Hopefully some smart coder will read this and take up the challenge.

Sure , easily . Speed has nothing to do with this. It is a waist of resources to do it on the fly , however I will remind you of one of the more popular methods , WRT54G and kismet Drone (on board the device). The wrt54gl (best of the best *cough cough* still clocks in at 200 mhz). heck a Cisco ASA5505 clocks in at 604 mhz manilla (thats before any kind of load you place on the device / flashing.... it is alot more "stable at 552 mhz" .
this would be hard as your would have to be able to set the wireless chip in monitor mode(im not sure if you even can). Also just the development for smart phones it less standard(ram and raw cpu power rang from super high end to to the new low end models comming out)
men i have decrypted wep within minutes with an 8-year-old zaurus pda. So guess this htc has enough to play with it

Thats the shame 'bout HTC (besides da poor quality of hard- and software): they setup ONE hardware and make 5 PDAs with slighty changed details. they were never interested in making good hardware.. everytime they took something away the previous model had... now, they do have android and are able to clone nearly the same device just with another OS.
in commercial aspects, this makes sense.... but as consumer I can only think of it as a pain in the neck. my old universal has a high res display, a 3,5mm audioconnector, a well made keyboard and a fast cpu... years ago... a shame it is the size of a brick .
If someone would mad it possible to use the Compass HW with WinMo i would gladly set a bounty of 50$.
Goal would be a little App to proof that it ist working plus the sourcecode for other Devs.
Does anyone join in?
its probably another 'tv out' scenario...
basically the chipset has the tech but other required hardware / software is not present hence the features can never be used.
why on earth HTC cripple devices like this is boggling.....if the HD had been released with TV-out (which the qualcomm chipset supports) & a hw compass (to be confimed) it would have levelled the competition.....
i am sure their marketing strategy has good reasons for not doing...but as said earlier from the consumers point of view its a pain in the butt...especially considering some of us are locked in 24 month contracts.!! so wont be purchasing other handsets even if we wanted too.
lets hope some clever devs find a way to unlock these features!! (if possible)

I disagree your argumentation:
Developers here wrote drivers to implement TMC and RDS into the features of the Blackstone. HTC hasn´t done it yet.
HTC seems to leave possible feature unused. Maybe to save time for their developers.
The old topic of a missing video driver is another example for that.

I've read the same thread from Tuxhero and I have to see it before I believe it. The only thing we've got is a blanket statement that he has read it somewhere. Someone else created slight confusion on this site before with similar statements.
Not saying that he's lying (in fact, I hope he's right), a source would help. Until then, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Im guessin they didnt include alot of features cause when the phone was released whoever ws going to buy it would buy it anyway, and when competitors (Iphone3gs) release phones with features like the compass thing etc , htc can easily release newer phones with the same features ... sort of like having it ready on earlier models so when they need to release it they can quickly!
My guess

Hey it could use top camera for detecting light direction .. and by knowing time .. voila, here is the north !
A dummy application could also fake reaction on turning based on lower camera image.
A compass function can be simulated with the GPS built into the X1. I use CoPilot Live 8 and it senses direction when I am moving (it even has an onscreen compass). Of course, standing still, it has no way of knowing what direction you're pointing so it's no replacement for a real compass.
Not the X1's magic compass again...

OK, haha, don't forget about the hidden 128MB of graphics memory giving X1 a total of 384MB. That was a popular myth at X1's release.
Not sure if the OP was supposing to get a hardware feature by adding software though. With standard GPS, a compass function can be simulated mathematically (when the device is moving). I use it on a regular basis in CoPilot Live. I assumed the OP was more advanced than to think that true compass functionality was purely a function of software.

Lol I remember when someone was trying to argue that the X1 screen dimension were different than the official ones.

I think the battery will not last enough to boot the device...
Personally, I'm a huge fan of the hidden subwoofer.

Dude 1 - Hey dude you wanna go to the game?
Dude 2 - Naaah i can't my man, ma phone won' t last that long.
D1 - The stadium is one block away, you can charge your device there.
D2 - Yeah, but my current record is reaching the apartment door...
I personally really like the FM Transmitter from the early reviews.
But ya, when I use iGo8 it has a Compass function that I use fairly regularly and its accurate - but as the previous poster said, only when moving.
