this might be a dumb question.. but what do i care what you people think of me but seriously, was google maps taken off the market? i keep trying to search it cause i wanna try 3.2, but in case i dont like it i wanna be able to get the old one back. if its not, i can just pull it from the htc recovery right?
EDIT: eh screw it i just got it from the htc thing. i would still like to know if its on the market or not though
It still shows in my downloads, but it won't come up when you search applications by Google. I assume this is because the changes you used to download from the market were incorporated into Donut 1.6.

Hey man Try this its 3.2
I can't see it on the Market either. I'm in the UK.
Interesting...
Not that I care as I'm running 3.2 and it works fine, so there's no point to go back.
I think that they might have removed after the whole Cyanogen conflict, but don't take my word for it

did u ever get this signed? i know the auto test sign used for roms isnt supposed to work (or so ive been told), but for ****s and giggles i tried it and it worked for me. i can get the app to install and open, but when i click on single player it fc's, but that might be because im on exspresso (2.1).
Got the same problem FC on single player and i'm using manup's 2.0.1 ROM...
Did either of you look at the date? This app was made before Android 1.6, much less 2.0- it was probably made for 1.5

You're SOL if they used the official RUU. Sorry, man. I'd be upset.

Unless they specifically asked if you wanted them to upgrade it for you, take that **** back and demand they give you a replacement with cupcake...tell them some bs that you have seen eclair and HATED it...I know there are people that are pissed about the differences in the way it syncs google contacts (you'll have to search for it or find some other nonsense). If you stand your ground long enough they will fold just to get you outta there.
EDIT: Just remembered that there are a ton of issues with bluetooth pairing with cars/etc on 2.1 that were not there in 1.5. Search around or maybe someone else here can interject (I personally haven't had any issues)...I'd say that this is your best bet.

Hello everybody ...
Cud someone please give me a stepwise breakdown on if/how I could get gtalk to have a black theme
(or give me a link to a black gtalk apk that I could use to replace the stock one ) ?
I did search before posting this thread.. and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821214
but that OP's just stating tht the gtalk app inside another ROM is black in color.
I'm sure this has been asked / done before, and if it has, please don't hammer me...
It's just that I am new to android, and some of the google results i got for 'black gtalk app' said some scary sounding things like deodexed (?)
And - I haven't rooted my Nexus S yet (yes, i know.. i'm a bit scared still.. )
Help please?
All you had to do is go to the second page.
On the second page of that thread posted by Jack_R1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821214&page=2
(Unsure if it works on Gingerbread)
And you'll most likely need Root for this to work since google talk is a .apk within /system/app/
/system/app/ cannot be modified unless you're rooted.
Rooting is relatively simple on Nexus S, don't be scared

Uh-ohhh...you wouldn't believe the silly sheepish smile i have on my face now
woops...sorry for noticing that! :$
Since I will probably have to root my phone for this ... i'll wait to get one of my friends with more divine android skills to sit with me thru it
(don't ask -- years of "trying" to jailbreak iPhones has built up this weird phobia of hacking, and has put fears like: "oh noes! what if it goes wrong?" in my head)
I'll come around though, i hope
and thanks again, Zephik ...

Haha okay. But if you don't want to wait for your "friend" to do it for you, here's a guide here to get you started towards rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
It's relatively simple
Yes- thanx again! I've read through those a few times and all the positive responses from 'first timers' have been tempting me a lot.
I'm actually waiting for the phone to launch officially in Dubai (rumored to happen in the week after next), and then I think I'll become a bit more brave to fiddle with it..
but if i muster enough courage before that, I'll definitely follow that guide ..
(psst: please be on standby with some emergency XDA paramedics, in case you hear me yelping, after a not so successful rooting attempt )

You have any idea if it's going to be a I9020 or I9023? There's reports of I9023 rooting of not completely working. Something about cache partition, I'm sure it'll get fixed.

I'm inclined to think it'll be the Super Clear LCD one .. because the Dubai/UAE market seems to be like a Singapore-market follower .. and the SLCD version has just been announced there..
The SAMOLED is partly why I'm happy that I went through some bit of trouble (and a LOT of worrying) to get my NexS delivered safely from Austin..
But boy am I in love with it!
I dont think anyone's been able to pry it out of my hands since it landed (touchwood)
And, like you said... I'm sure the i9023 would get rooted soon enough by folks here
[maybe Google could just officially link to the XDA as their main 'user support forum' .. ]
I was able to push the gtalk and the google voice to the Nexus S. I have it installed on the nightly cm7 #26. The google voice is working but the gtalk is failing to connect to the server.
i was able to install but it hangs on a black screen where my contacts should be but nothing displays. theres also the refresh circle in the top right that keeps going. then if i selct anything via menu button push and go back it force closes on me.
Can someone tell me why is it marked as SOLVED when it does not work on the nexus S? I want this feature badly, if anyone has any idea pls share.

I totally agree but there is a solution now for sure. DARKGINGER NEW 4/5/11 DarkGapps4511.zip this is just gapps for the people not using the nightlies. These work on any HDPI phone running Gingerbread! THIS HAS WORKING DARK GTALK.

Sorry, didn't see the point when he has his own thread.
I'd like to find a googleearth.apk file that's compatible with my device, I can get it to install but I can't open it. Can someone help me with this issue.
Sent from my CM7HERO200 using XDA Premium App.
It doesn't work on the hero processor, there is not a fix.
Well crap, thanks for the info. I wish they made these apps more compatible with lower end phones.
why would they theres only a handful of arm6 devices out there cdma/gsm hero mt3g/g1 the legend and maybe acouple other European phones im missing.
Hey guys,I google searched it and found a googleearth1.1.1.apk and downloaded it. I'm going to try to install it and see how things go,I'll keep ya posted but I do agree with Bierce,it may not work,I'll try it anyways. Now,here's my question; I also found through a google search googleearth1.2.1.apk. Would the 1.2 be newer? IDK? I'll keep you guys posted.
Answered my question

So I answered my own question and Bierce is right, the Google Earth 1.2.1 was the newer version,it DID install onto my phone but would not run, everytime I tried to open it,it just FC'd. I'm guessing it is from what Bierce said, because th eHero runs on an Arm6 processor. Oh well...maybe one day we will have a Google Earth app that is capable of running on the CDMA Hero.
well dah.. itll say problem parsing package its made for hdpi devices so why did u feel the need to bump this thread just for that come on man.
I'm just glad you said it, being for the wrong processor. I wish I would've thought of that. SMH
