Could someone please help me get my headphones working? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My developer HTC G1 (special Google pattern back) phone is completely -un-rooted, running Cupcake 1.5 as I have not had time to update it to 1.6 Donut.
I bought a device similar to this:

Last night at Radio Shack for 10$, from there I took it to another adapter to adapt the 2.5mm to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack so I could use my HTC G1 with standard headphones.
Here's the problem:
I can use my standard microphone/headset combination I got with the phone just fine, however, when I plug these adapters in and try listening to music, it comes out of the phone.. not my headphones.
I know my headphones aren't bad because I use them for gaming on my computer every day. It'd just be nice to be able to use them while I'm biking around town or jogging.. but.. as I said, my HTC G1, just acts like they don't exist.
Can someone, anyone, give me advice on how to fix this?
I'm not very good at pushing updates as the phone was a gift from my brother who used to work with Google. He helped me push Cupcake, but I'm interested in learning how to do this on my own.
Thanks everyone.. Hope to be listening to my music soon.

It appears that with a bit of research, it appears this thread has surfaced before:

I still don't know how to fix it though.

Headphone Amplifier broken ?

Hello,
my Name is Chris and i am from Germany.
My english is realy por but i hope i can explain wahts happen.
I buy a second-hand Xperia X1. Everything works fine. I found a not original Rom Version but it dosent care. The Phone works fine. I try the Headphone Connector to check out the Sound Quality. I was very suprised, the Sound was great. Ok, i connect the Phone with a Logitech 2.1 Sound System and enjoy the Music. After a few minutes, the X1 need to charge. I connect the Charger with the Phone and then , the Sound is cut off. I hear only a gentle, rasping sound. It dosen't care i use the 2.1 or the Headphones.
The internal Speaker and a Bluetooth Headset works. Only the Jack dont work.
I think, the Amplifier for the Jack is broken.
Wath can i do ?
I have no ordinary MP3-Player
Have someone Pictures from the Amplifier Device or the Area around the Headphone Jack?
Did you use original charger?
Yes, i do.
I'm sorry my English isn't good too since English is not my primary language.
Do you mean the jack inside photo? If so, maybe this:

[Q] Recommendations for use while exercising

Now that I have something useful to listen to music with, I want to use it while running.
I have not come across many accessories to do this, but I did find this universal one:

Anyone have any pointers for the Focus? I figure something that attaches to an arm or waist would be appropriate.
I'll update this post with your suggestions as we go.
*edit - If this is as good as it's going to get, please post so.
If it says it can handle the size of the Xperia X10, then the Focus should be fine and this may be your best bet. I don't think there will be any armband accessories until the Focus becomes more popular so just go with this one.
But I don't really think that the Focus is a good choice as a workout MP3 player. I know I'd be on edge if I had my brand spanking new phone strapped to my sweaty slippery arm! That's why I've kepy my iPod Nano for working out--the perfect size.
Good points. But it's so shiny... Hard not to use it.

Perhaps the bluetooth route is doable

Sony Ericsson MH-100

So, I've spent hours and hours searching for a wired headset that would skip tracks on the HD7. I tried the included HTC one and ones for an iPhone and Nokia, none of which worked.
My research seems to have turned up that the HD7 headphone socket just doesn't support the necessary connectors. So, I opted for a bluetooth headphone adapter, namely the Sony Ericsson MH-100 (£25 from amazon) and I just thought I'd tell anyone who's interested that it's really great.
It's small and discrete, good battery life, pairs easily with the HD7 and supports the full A2DP BT profile, so you can navigate through music, answer calls and control the volume. The best thing, is that it really gives the audio levels a kick in the backside which the HD7 REALLY needs. The included earbuds are also quite nice.
So for anyone who doesn't want to get out their phone every time they want to skip a track, I can't recommend this enough

Thx mate, nice to know, this was exactly what I was looking for. I will check on Amazon if I find the same model.

HTC Headphones

I received my phone and I'm charging it before the fun begins. While I wait I decided to try out the headphones on my 4G LTE(nice change since my old phone did not come with any), and they are a very decent set and look like Beats headphones, go figure! Anyone else like the included headphones?

They're the same as the ones that came with the One, only now they have htc branding on them.. they are very nice. Especially for being a freebie.
The thought last year was that they were unbranded beats essentially.
I mainly use a bluetooth set at this point, but its nice to have a decent pair when needed.
I wasnt able to upgrade to the One last year so I had to ride my EVO 4G LTE until now. I'm glad HTC kept this design then, definetely a welcomed surprise. I also like the ear gels because they are softer than most of the other headphones I have.
They sound really good. I like that the button does audio for Google Now and music. Welcome surprise.
