Need your help on this!!! - Off-topic

Ok so I need help!!
I need a software - with this software you can scan (lets say) a 1m x 1m large poster on a 20cm x 20cm scanner and the software stitches the scaned parts together to make a one big poster on your PC!!! like panorama photos only with scaners!!
does anybody know a software like this?? im asking for help because I dont even know what key words do I have to search in google!!

You could paint. Basically you could scan one part, put it in paint then open another paint Scan the next bit of the picture, stick it in the empty paint, copy it to the paint with the first part in and stick it next to it.
Or you could try (not very well known) Microsoft Autocollage 2008. But im not sure on how it would look.

Do you know how hard it is to work in paint with a high res image (if the image res is higher then your screen res) Im talking about really high res images right now !!
will try the microsofty thingy!

Maybe photoshop or leading alternative that is free and legal like gimp to stich it together.
Gimp may be a little crap but still years ahead of paint. <= meant that the first time...

Thanks for the suggestions!!!
after a while of searching I found ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch Deluxe its just what I needed - you just scan the parts (parts may be a bit offset or scan some places twice) and the sodtware stitches the parts together!!

For your phone or computer
Do you want a photo editor to use on your phone or your computer, because there are 2 cool ones for your phone, and they work well, and that is from a person who used to make his living with photoshop back starting in the days before layers.
They are Pocket artist, which is photoshop on your phone
and
Photogenics which is more a creative art applied to photos app.
Both have painting, so painting and drawing on your phone is a real thing...
Soon, phone art shows...
The drawback of both programs is they cost a fair amount of bread, but they work, my only complaint is that Photogenics needs a regular undo in addition to their unique work-flow.
I would love to see a version of Gimp on windows mobile.
cheers

You can try GIMP, it's basically a free version of photoshop... wait that sounds like warez, the makers made it free
GIMP is the best way to go if you're looking for freeware. I can vouch for the fact that it isnt warez. Granted, it's not nearly as loaded to the gills with features as photoshop, but for basic stuff like icons and theme editing, it'll mostly get the job done.
paint.net can do a lot of what photoshop can and its free
Gimp is best if you want to work with alpha blending, but the learning curve is steep, otherwise (if your art doesn't have a lot of curves, you do your own pixel art, or you don't mind aliasing) anything above paint will do.
I personally use Krita from the KDE app library. It's a bit more powerful than your standard image editor. I don't really like GIMP much because of some stupid decisions on the part of the programmers that make the program a hard tool to use if you're doing pixel art or just about anything, for example, having to resize layers after you've re-sized the canvas or that damn erase tool, I want an erase tool that erases, not gradually blurrs out, erasing a single pixel is a pain because it'll also diffuse the surrounding pixels. I'm sure there's a way around it, but it's just not intuitive.
My understanding is that paint.net
was written by a guy in college who didn't wanna pay for photoshop 7.
My source..his website.
I think he also mentions something about paint.net being able to take photoshop plug-in. Something I don't think GIMP can do.
I just finished a Digital Photography class using paint.net. Prior to the class my digital editing was all done with MS paint. Transferring to paint.net was not that hard. Remember that ctrl+Z is your best friend in the world.
I tried GIMP before getting paint.net. At the time the learning curve was higher than I was willing to pay attention to.
Both are free. Both are highly suitable as replacements for Photoshop.

3d droid

Hi.
I'm modeling 3d Android for one website, so I'll like to share with you my current progress; this is not finished model: I have to change hands (I don't like them as they are now), make legs, and add some more details. I have just posed what I have till now in to some quick pose and make quick render, to better see how it looks, and what to change.
I the end, this will be animated character and it will be used for banners, logo, icons, animated intro for videos, and some wallpapers and maybe even for theme for mobile phones.

I'm modeling this in 3d studio max.
And here is one more small update; I have remodeled hands, so that now I have more wide range of movement with them.
Awesome work, the first face looks better in my opinion, but the second is more original.
I also prefer the darker face. There is more contrast and makes the eyes stand out more. Also looks happier. Good details there. It is very difficult to make "green skin" look good at best of times!
Tnx guys for comments.
Face is still something I haven't decide yet what to do about it; I'll have to make some tests with expressions to see what will work best.
Now, I have to make legs; i'm thinking about making them somewhat similar to hands, but I'll put wheels on them (they will be mostly hidden; there will be a gap like for hands, where wheel will come out), so that he will basically role around; i thing that he will look cooler that way.

Wet yourself with what???HUH!!!
Here is one more update; I still have some things to do, but is getting some final form.
Looks pretty sick, but I must say, when the legs are on their own, well.....

[Screensavers] Show off your Nook Touch ScreenSavers

I haven't seen a lot of good Screensaver sets out there for the nook touch, most don't even properly fit the screen, and I don't care for the two that come with it. I'd like to have this thread be a place where people can post theirs and get lots of awesome ones. The only rule I can think of is all pictures should be .jpg and have to be at 600x800 res.
Installing screensavers is as easy as follows:
Plug nook into computer via usb.
In the internal flash storage go into a folder call screensavers.
Make a new folder in here. Note: the name of the folder will also be the name of the screensaver/set.
Whatever pictures you put in the new folder will be added to that screensaver/set.
I'll start off with a clean version from one of my favorite mangas Elfen Lied! If you would like the non-clean (just 5 extra pictures) pm me.
I gathered a bunch on high resolution personal photos (family, pets, vacations), opened them in gimp, cropped them so that they were the correct ratio than scaled them down to 800x600. Lastly i converted them to grayscale. Some were landscape, some were portrait. If they were landscape i had to rotate them clockwise. The hardest part was trying to get the right ratio without cutting too much out.
They fill the whole screen and look great!

Well, don't forget about these sites for your NST Screensaver pleasure:
The Nook Wallpapers Pool
The Kindle Backgrounds Pool (these work just fine as they are all in exactly the same res as the NST backgrounds)
...and, of course, the ever-popular Nook-Look.com (with screensavers for both color Nooks and e-ink versions)
Lots to choose from.
This sounds stupid, but I'm still looking for other "dead author" pics of famous people... even living authors. I know that the B&N brick and mortar store has one of Stephen King that looks pretty cool. I think that style of portrait is pretty neat. Maybe someone can come up with a Photoshop filter or something to do that...

Anyone want to pack the kindle ones up into screensaver sets(as their already black and white)? And I know someones got to have made their own that they want to show off! Like ones' of their favorite authors or the covers of their favorite books? Drizzit anyone?
I throw some of them together myself
All credit goes to The Kindle Backgrounds Pool for the following files!
These were taken around the net, I can't remeber exactly where .
EDIT: Probably some where taken from nook-look.com...
Pair of Nook Simple Touch Screensavers
Bought my Mom a Simple Touch for Xmas; she likes flowers so I put together a 5-picture flower screensaver for her that includes the "press Nook button" graphic on the bottom. Also, made a light & dark version of the B&N Nook logos for screensavers. Hope somebody can use them.
I'm not really into all that screensavers, cause i dont let my nook rest xD
i like ukiyo-e pictures cause they tend to have high contrast
also check my current desktop, unfortunately my screenshot app takes screens in color ;D
Few of mine screensavers.
This one is awesome... to prank a nook owner.
Also my compilation of Eschers graphics. They look really cool on my nook
That's pretty sweet

He did. Just click on the image..twice.
For the German-speaking Heinrich Heine fanboy crowd.
Brodsky and Utkin
One of my favorite artists - and the prints are almost perfect for Nook/Kindle: B&W and same dimension as a regular piece of paper.
This person scanned them in: http://thenonist.com/index.php/weblog/permalink/the_paper_architecture_of_brodsky_utkin
Attached are just the 10 JPGs grabbed from that site.
Scary Stories to tell in the dark
I quickly threw something together in FW, the floaty vectorthing was a royalty free IIRC (or at least I hope so...)

[ADW.Themes] Beach Bottle Theme (my 1st "theme")

Hey there,
I would like to present you my first "theme" (it's not really a theme since i've only got about 12 icons, but it seems interesting)
It's about icons inside bottles on the beach^^
the only problem is, that it takes ages and i dunno if i'll ever finish and i also dunno if anyone will be interested.
I want to publish it on the market, do you think i will ever earn more than the 25$ bill?
If i'll be "ready" (you never are really ready with a theme XD ) I'll also make a free version of it on the market.
How high should i go with the pricing?
I am only 13 years old (well nearly 14 , should i maybe just make it for free on some other market?
oh well i dunno please give me advice!
ah yeah and, is it possible to use a png as search-widget-baclground?(not only xml)
here some screenshots:
(the dock and search widget wil be some sand but haven't made it yet)
