unfortunately either i constantly do something wrong, or its just me who is impatient on the hero rom, and i have constant mms crashes. I love the hero, but those things are driving me crazy. I do love the dialer though.

Try emnothers Rogers ROM. It supports A2SD, meant to be very fast, no themes for it though, unless you can be bothered to port them yourself.

it takes a lot of patience on hero I bought my 1st of 2 g1's with that ROM on it and just could not handle it to many hicups. I am sure it was not set up right after learning all that I have learned in a short time. still have hicups but am learning everyday. Best to flash cyan 3.6.5 or JF to start stable and fast ROM's.

flipclock for 1.5 sense roms, now working!

UPDATE: seems to work fine for most people by just flashing, my phone had different problems.
it does work with this method when having trouble otherwise: wipe, fresh installation of mcr3.1/2, boot and do the setup, flash the clock. a wipe is not mandatory, it has proven to work without a wipe in many cases now. should work on all 1.5 sense roms.
in every case make a nandroid backup before! then flash the zipfile as usual from the recovery menu, no need to delete anything manually before.
who wonders what this is about, from 0:12 in this video. the flipclock was removed by htc in the 2.73 series roms, probably for performance reasons. since (especially) paul and teknologist have done a lot on the performance side it is worth a try IMHO. so far the feedback is good, ppl don't seem to notice an impact on the performance.

animations are always bad to capture in a screenshot. this is the regular 2x4 hero clock widget with the digits flipping over as animation, as it was in the 1.76.x roms. the animation was removed for performance reasons, but since a lot has changed performancewise i think it is worth a try.
i'll see if i can dig up a video. edit: there you go, about 13 seconds in.
just tested it and it works perfectly, and i have network connection

what rom are you using? do you experience any performance lags? do all apps work, i think i had problems with connectbot while the clock was installed?
and we still have to wait for long term results, i hope it doesn't drain the battery...
btw, it is still not working for me, dammit!
the latest Modaco rom 3.1, i wasn't getting any lag switching from screen to screen but i did go back to my back up cause it was abit annoying wait a few seconds to know what the time is, i didn't test all my apps lol all i did was surf the inter-web. All i did was to flash it as an update.zip and for me it worked perfectly

Does this work with any of the more current 2.1 sense Roms? I assume not, but thought it was worth asking

i leave that as an exercise to the reader flashed enough today, going to bed now. nandroid is your friend. my bet: won't work. try wiping, flashing the rom, do the initial setup, then flash the clock. and keep us posted
Flashed, clock still displays, force closes when the flip should happen.

Confirming that it is also working on a rooted stock rom as well. Thanks for your efforts on this very much appriciated

this was taken from a gsm rom, so i wouldn't expect it to work in a cdma rom. i replied to a thread in the cdma section pointing them here, my guess would be that the procress has to be redone with cdma sources. i can't do this without having access to the running rom.

so i was right you could check logcat for errors, but tbh i don't think there is much that can be done, given the closed source nature of the sense framework.

ok, the easiest way to say this: the person who wants to try this needs to hold a cdma hero in his hands. the actual device, you can not do it with just the rom.

****** Any Requests? I am running out of ideas ******
Oh my gosh, I'm glad to hear that you're doing better.
Welcome back, Dr. Clover. Glad to hear you're doing better. I've always liked Blue_Haze. I may not use it that much anymore, but it's nice to see the progress you've made on it.
Do you have a theme for 2.1?
If I remember correctly, he put Blue_Haze for OpenEclair on hold until it's more stable. I'm sure he'll step in and correct me if I'm wrong though.
I just flashed this themed rom and i got to say i like it a lot ........ But should i chose to go back to stock cm 4.2.15.1 do i need to do a full wipe or can i just flash with cm updater ??? Also i reverted the ram hack thru terminal can i reactivate it thru terminal also?
Wat roms do this work for??

No, since this is built completely from CM's source, a wipe is not needed to go back. To redo the ram hack, just flash the ROM again.

Ew, Symbian. Why would you go for that when everyone knows that God uses an iPhone and therefore all of his underlings should as well. I don't understand why people are always bashing on Steve Gods, without him we wouldn't have such luxuries as phones or life.

[Q] Hero on the Cellular South Network

I know there isn't an outstanding support for the Cellular South Hero, but I'm having trouble finding ROMs, themes, and such for my phone. Maybe its because I'm new to rooting, so often times I don't know what I'm looking at and I'm scared to try anything without seeing smething like This works with Cellular South Heros, I can't find a lot for my phone. So I was wondering: is there any way we could get a subtopic in this forum for Cellular South users?
On another note, what roms and themes DO work with my Hero? Currently I'm using Danger 2.1.
Almost all of them. You might get somw sprint logos but it still works on cellsouth. Southpaw is also made for cs

I havent run across a rom that wouldnt work on Cell South so far. I'm running AOSP mod atm and I had CM6 before that, and Fresh before that.
Yea i've pretty much run every one thrown out there since like april and haven seen a bill increase or any flaws based off me being with Csouth so i'd give it a go if i were you lol Cuz with the stuff these amazing devs and themers are pushing out, you'd be missing out if you chose not to bro

Question

I want to use my hero as an mp3 /video player is there a way to remove the phone part of the phone?
If so can someone point me in the right direction please.....
theres no need to remove anything to make it an mp3/video player. all you have to do is have airplane mode on all the time. as far as a good rom for speed, i suggest cm7.2 stable. from there you can customize with any app you want.

I agree, however you will need to experiment with it because my son did just that and he had problems with it being stable after playing a few songs. Don't expect to do much else with it.
No need for airplane mode either. Open up your dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
Then scroll down to the bottom and you will see radio. Then disable/turn off the radio.

? i use my heroc for mainly an internet browser, youtube, and music. i've never had it ever lock up on me while playing music in any of the cm7.2 rc's or final. did you or your son v6 supercharge the phone? thats usually the first thing i do.
