I've been working on the Wiki too, most of the new items under general faq are from me, if not all of them (I don't know if anyone but us have updated it recently, I suspect not!).
I think we should move all the general faq into the main menu (as you have printed above) and then group them together somehow.
No idea how to do this though.
EDIT: Lol, part of the Wiki even states that no ROM kitchen exists for the Himalaya. It really needs more editing

Native WM 6.5 NK.exe for you Blackstone guys

I think the topic pretty much says it all;
This is a native WM 6.5 blackstone OEMXIPKernel/xip.bin/os.nb.payload - aware of the new Slot 60/Slot 61 virtual memory layout - what does this mean for you as a chef?
Now you don't have to recmod any modules in \SYS anymore, to port over WM 6.5!
But you will need to use a relocation tool that is aware of the new memory layout;
Ervius Visual Kitchen + Bepe's New Kitchen do this with the "Real WM 6.5 AKU" checkbox
There's also a build of "WMReloc" 2.0 floating around that may support this, that would be compatible with the "old style" kitchen (buildos + g'reloc, it would replace g'reloc)

Was this compiled by HTC? Does this mean that HTC will release a 6.5 update for the HD?

I think it was a press release around March 2009 where HTC said that customers are able to buy an upgrade to WM 6.5 for some of there phones. Blackstone was mentioned, if i remember correct.

What do you mean - base ROM 1.56?

A question: when a port this XIP with XIPPortexEX i must use "Is an AKU-5 'XIP'" or not?

That nk.exe is from the original 1.56 ROM, but modified by MS to support the WM 6.5 memory slots (footprints).
So when we use this, it will show as ROM version 1.56 during boot.

Packages...

I am trying to build my first ROM using Visual Kitchen. My problem is that i don't know which packages i really need. Is there a post that explains what each package is needed for? If an experienced cooker knows, it would be really helpful to write a few comments for each package. At least for the packages in the SYS which as far as i know are common for all Windows Mobile Devices.

I have a Packages.doc ready for you to add some Comments. I used the package names as listed by latest visual kitchen 1.7 for 23008 build.

The first part, SYS, is the same for X1. But the second part is OEM/EXT section of Raphael, not the same on X1.

The version of ROMs are update on daily basis. Please advise me if there is any outdated ROM, but do give me 1 day to download and upload.
Basically, I have the permission from all chefs(hellonasty(MARYONE),grzegorz10(Dusk-Evo), kwbr(Topix), miri, millski).

I agree with Clyde some of the chefs do not like their work being replicated without permission.
I can see the benifit of what you are doing but I would strongly suggest you ask the chefs first, get their permission and then upload their ROMS.
I don't think relying on them to check the thread and then PM you is a good idea.

But I see you rectified this to a certain extent by requesting chef's to PM you so you can remove links if they do not approve
For this reason I am allowing this thread to remain

In my opinion it will keep the thread a bit neater.

It's a good idea of the topic and giving the links to topics concerning the roms but not straight links to roms.
Why? Some of them like Miri's, MaryOne are conected with another forum and giving links is forbidden on xda forum. Anotherlike xanny want people to ask every time they want to download for permission via PM.
...but giving links to topics and discussion about their benchmarks, differencies and so on is a very good idea in my opinion.

All ROMs are great..It's depends what you need and what you prefer
Nobody can tell you which ROM suit you, you need to try one by one

What about using the wiki cooked Rom's page? Wasn't that created for this very purpose?

Help please with 826x Rom

After having gotten hold of on of the few X1 left, my third one, I flashed my Favourite Rom and installed everything I need. These files were all on a MicroSD
and then the MicroSD packed up. And obviously I botched the Flash and need to reflash ! I am please looking for the following two Files, which I hope somebody has, as all the DL Links have disappeared in the Mean Time.
