Ok.. and much neater than mine
I managed to rip one of the buds off mine this morning (don't ask) so was forced to solder some other buds on, my soldering skills aren't as good as yours (and I don't have a fine tip on the iron)
workman<>tools etc
Does work a treat though, and now the earpieces don't fall out of my ears while riding to work ..

Yes that is already in the package.
The fine thing is that you can put any standard 3.5mm Audio Cable in it as antena if you want to use your phone as radio without headset

How do you set the volume with it then ? The specs say it's possible ...
Volume controle
hay all
Is the RC E160 the headset that comes with the phone?
If it is then I can't find the key feature: "volume butten". can I turn the volume up and down somewhere on the remote?
Are there any headset where I can turn the volume up and down while I hear radio whithout having to take the phone out of my pocket?
thanks for any replies

Thanks for the picture, this looks doable, even for me. Can you please explain what you have done? I can see one wire soldered to the left and two to the right?
Connection diagram
Can you explain which cable does what? I want to modify the earphones to make them an Aux cable with controls to install in my car.

Hi,
some weeks ago I wrote a Wiki entry for it. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613732
Works verry nice...
I havent found a description how to use the headset though...
Regards
I got one of these for about £17:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Altec-Lansing-T515-Portable-Bluetooth/dp/B000R6QAHO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264894776&sr=8-1
Rechargeable bluetooth headphones + handsfree with media and phone controls to save me getting the HD2 out my pocket, the recharging station doubles as speakers, so I can walk home from work with my tunes on, plug the portable bit in, and listen through the speakers. Genius.
Chris
Are there also wired remote controls with a mic. and a 3.5mm output for some earbuds?
Cause i the ones from HTC are rubish, but I do have a set sennheisers (with a short cord), but no remote control or mic..
Hi chrcad,
I tried your modification and it worked like a charm...though I must say soldering was not easy and I had to do it 3 times till I got it right. I put a pair of Koss inearphones...much better!
Thanks

"- Hold switch to lock/unlock the remote control"
What switch? seems like ive locked my remote control since i cant use handsfree buttons anymore. Ive tried to hold all the buttons in different combinations and nothing seems to activate them again. Srsly Im pretty pissed by now since theres no user guide at all even pointing out that u can deactivate/activate and Im pretty sure I didnt broke it.

i really hope its me............. i hope its something i am doing wrong
i have heard virtually all HTC products...........and everyone has paired up just fine with my car bluetooth kit (BMW 3 series, 06 plate)
i eagerly awaited the Kaiser as the complete utopic device.............and i still think it is..............except..............THE WEEDY, TINNY, LOW VOLUME audio when on Handsfree !!!!!!!!!!!!
my carkit allows upto 4 devices to be memorised, so i have paired my HTC Touch, my HTC S710 and the TyTn II to it.......... the first 2 are perfect, rich, bassy sound with good volume that is perfectly audible even on the motorway.................
the TyTn II is VERY low, just about audible in stationary traffic and not at all bassy........... you remember those weedy HiFi systems that had about 5w Total output and could be bought for £29.99 !!!!!
i have seen a few posts saying the same thing........... i wonder if it is HTC's ROM that has this??? what about the T-Mobile users or perhaps the Dopod users??
i guess it is objective........... if you have never had a HTC device, you would have nothing to judge it by and therefore you are probably satisfied......but i have had LOADS of different devices, HTC and Mobile carrier branded, and none are as pathetic as the TyTn II on Bluetooth audio........... it is seriously stopping me using it as my main phone device which is such a big shame
PLEASE......... if anyone has any reg tweaks, rom upgrades, suggestions, ideas let me know.............. this £450 device is nowhere near as good as my wife's £30 mobile phone when it comes to audio...............
cheers
Mark
PS have to say, the audio is fine when you listen into the internal speaker or on speakerphone, so not sure it is the audio chip ???
Hi. I have the AT&T tilt and I noticed the same thing when using the audio section for playing mp3's via my Jabra BT620's when I play music using the built in wmp I cant quite get the volume I like so I switched to using CorePlayer 1.1.1 which has a preamp option in it and I can tell you for a fact there is nothing wrong with bluetooth volume when you do that. So it is probably going to be an easy software fix or even a simple registry hack to fix the volume issue.

that sounds good.............but as well as the Bluetooth volume its also the quality of the audio that i find hard to explain, no bass, just really tinny
but....... i would be happy to even increase the volume only at this stage!
Something to try: when bluetooth connection is active, tap the speaker icon on the taskbar of your today screen and turn the left hand volume slider up for more A2DP volume and the right hand volume slider up for more handsfree volume. I've tested the left hand slider & it works like a charm for hifi audio. On my 5 series, the audio sounded fine if I just bumped the volume using the steering wheel controls so I haven't tested the effect of the right hand slider on handsfree audio.

yep, bluetooth active, tap the icon, both sides up at maximum. place a call, turn 'in call' volume up to maximum, still really low and weedy !
tried the steering wheel volume and also the radio volume and still no joy!
as i said, all other devices are fine, just the tytn!
thanks for the suggestion though
maybe theres a problem with the bluetooth/wifi ariel as i have issues with my bluetooth totally failing when i turn on wifi
It works fine with the Lexus car kit. However the audio is mono and comes from the left channel only

if you dont want it in mono try PocketPlayer it will more then likely fix your problem. I love audible books, and this is now my default program for listening to them over bluetooth.
Definitely something wrong with mine. I think we should keep communicating with HTC until they fix it. My Blueant Z9 is unusable. No bass, and when I had the volume turned all the way up [both phone and headset], it almost broke my ear drum. Yet, I hardly can make out the sound coming from the ear set. I had no problem with 8525. It definitely has something to do with the antenna or the driver.
I am hoping HTC will respond to this asap.
I'm using a JawBone and what I notice, is when I use the headset to increase volume, the volume doesn't seem to actually be increasing, even tho the headset is giving acknowledgment beeps.
Seems I don't really have any control over the bluetooth headset volume. Nothing I can perceive anyway.
-James
I can say that the fidelity on the bluetooth stereo is absolutely awesome on mine. I just used Coreplayer so I could boost the volume a tad using the preamp settings.
maybe each profile in your car kit stores unique settings for bass etc - have you tried fiddling with its settings?
There are several threads running about this. I have Jawbones and it appears that it's mainly the phone BT audio that has issues. I can use BT audio toggle and divert Coreplayer or SlingBox or iGuidance Nav sounds out to the Jawbone and they sound loud, bassy and clear.
I then place a call and the sound is wimpy and low. It's not and antenna problem, I use BT internetsharing and BT headsets all day long with this Kaiser with good range. It's "hopefully" a software issue between the phone's audio output to bluetooth. The phone's audio quality on the naitive phone's earpiece and speaker are very good quality, better quality, than my 8525 had.
It's frustrating, it's the only major flaw in the phone and HTC seems clueless in all the responses I've seen to date.
just in case anyone is interested, i have found a small improvement by doing the following:-
using a registry editor
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings
change USEJOINTSTEREO from 1 to 0
if nothing else, it just seems louder.....................
hope it helps

Perhaps this tweak could be included in Chainfire's utility?
Which stereo bluetooth headset works with the HD2?
The SonyEricsson HBH-IS800 is really nice, but you cannot control the volume of this headset.
Nokia BH 500
I noticed that! You can't control the volume of any bluetooth A2DP devices. SO STUPID!! There must be a fix for this?
Sony DR-BT21G works as well with my Leo as it does with my Walkman. Volume control and track controls both work. Not too sure that it works with phone calls though, as I haven't yet tried it.

Using the Sennheisser MM100 and they work very well.
Cheers

Hi,
I have this headset also and i'm satisfied with the quality of the sound. The volume is just right for me out of the box. So i didn't notice until now you can't change the volume from the phone.
I added two keys to blue-tooth registry, but i don't think it added to the sound-quality. Maybe there is a key for that volume. Still looking for a tool to do that. What it does do is randomly give me no audio during playback for 3 or 4 seconds :-( (Witch is really annoying). I get compliments from people when i''m on the phone about the audio quality. Even when riding my bike in windy conditions. So thats a good thing. I think the cord could do with another 5 centimeter. I think they forget about the difference in neck size of western people when they developed the thing Japan ;-).
Battery life is better than my old one.
Before this i had the HBH-DS980 on the TYTNII, but the cord broke. This one can display the phonebook and change volume and skip to the next song etc., but i think the size of the HBH-IS800 and sound quality makes up for that.
I'd like to hear from other owners of this device if they experience the same audio interruption problem.
Rgrds, Helssblade.
iam using Sony HBHDS980
Everything works fine including,
1. Music player in manila music tab play, pause, next, prev & volume.
2. Contacts display 7 browsing
3. Call history browsing.
4. In call volume adjustment.
Only problem is,
Need to increase the incall volume after every reconnection.
Nokia BH 503 works great with the LEO. Even coreplayer works with the pause play and next buttons.
Hi,
I'm listening music with the HBH-DS970 Bluetooth headphones.
I noticed, that the soundquality is quite poor, especially the high notes.
Are there any tweaky to improve the soundquality through bluetooth?
Thanks

Hello everybody!
I purchased this headset and works perfectly with my HTC HD2 (I'm installed previously the SRS WOWHD v1.5.1.0). Clear sound (for me) and very comfortable!

I have the same headset and the souns is like am radio,,I think at the problem is in the bluetooth configuration, this phone is coming whit bluetooth 2.1 and maybe this is one of the problems, the another one is att you cant no change the audio parameters in bluetoth like I do in my xperia,so spensive and so meny problems
HBH-IS800
DR-BT160AS...
...is working fine for me.
Everything like Volume, Skipping, Searching, Pause/Play and talking via the headsetfunction ist fine.
Voice is clear at the other end of the "wire"
Really light and works for about 6 hrs. on normal volume (hearing until jogging)
Just got my set of Jaybird JB200...
I had to edit this post and write my updated impressions about the set... The next/prev buttons now work like a charm, even with the main Sense player, which I still prefer over players like PocketPlayer or Core Player... The peering is still kinda sketchy... The phone doesn`t ask for the key of the set and sometimes it does not register Stereo sound from the first try... It seems the way to make it register stereo is having a stereo feed live... like a song playing... The sound itself is very good, I`m satisfied with the quality and the look of the earphones...
If anyone knows a solution for the peering problems please give me a tip...
I use the Apple in-ear headset (http://www.apple.com/ipod/in-ear-headphones/) and love them, however, the play, next, and previous buttons do not seem to have any functionality on my phone.
Has anyone managed to get these or similar working with their N1 and if so, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
-pixl
I've got the i50P or something like that from Sennheiser, they're their $50 in-ears with mic and controls built in designed for iphone, it works fine for me under Mixzing. Anything should work really, try mixzing out.
I've just tried mixzing, seems like an amazing app, but doesn't enable all controls.
single (middle) click for play/pause
double (middle) click to restart
Is there nothing to get all controls? Or even to imitate the N1 headphones.
Nope, there's no standard for stereo headsets. With the addition of volume control, Apple added a microcontroller to the button pod to signal button presses. Some change they made along the way also broke the mic functionality. The original single-button headsets still work, as do compatible accessories. I'm using a Shure adapter with some short-cord earphones for the time being.
I plan to order a second set of HTC earphones and do a podectomy on my Apple IEMs. I figure I can desolder the Apple pod on the right channel cord and wire in the HTC and leave the left channel pads disconnected. As much as I'm down on Apple nowadays, I really like their dual driver IEMs, more than any others I've tried. I'll post info here if I'm successful.
Reviving a dead thread...
Apple Dual Driver In-Ear headphones mic and play/pause button now work with the FroYo FRF50 ROM. Volume controls still don't work, but since the signaling for those is Apple proprietary I'm not holding my breath.
I love the functionality of the N1 headset, but the buds are way too big for my ears!
I can't find anything that has the stop, prev track, next track controls that work with the N1 other than the stock headset.
When I use my Bose In-Ear's on Spotify I have play/pause (1 click) and next track (2 clicks). Good enough for me anyways, although I guess volume controls could be slightly handy.
I'm looking for a remote to actually control my phone over bluetooth. I ride a motorcycle and can't control the phone with gloves on so I'm looking for something to give me play/pause/skip/volume with hard buttons. If anybody has any ideas I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!
I know my motorola's had buttons dedicated to music control. I think the model # were ht820. they were a2dp stereo bluetooth headphones. those models are pretty old, so you can probably find some newer a2dp headphones that have what you want.
i have had this pair of stereo bluetooth headset for about a year and a half, i absolutely love them they sound great they have easy hard controls and battery will out last most droids, you will charge your phone 2 or more times before having to recharge these, they have buttons for startting voice activated call, hang up,mute, volume up/down, song skip forward/backward, play/pause,base boost, and one more great feature is they have a option that allows you to turn on an open mic so you can more easily hear what going on around you when your music is paused or not on a call. they cost $80 when i got mine now they are about half that.
here is a link, i got mine from cincinatti bell store...
http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-903-US-BackBeat-Headphones/dp/B001TK3AC0
i'm pretty sure the incredible supports headphone controls, so you could buy headphones with controls built into them for media. usually these are small buttons directly attached to the headphone cord.
So I gather there's at least two different "standards" out there for headsets with 3.5 mm plugs, which all use 4 pins (3 rings + the tip of the plug), but with different pin outs - let's call them 'iPhone style' and 'Nokia style'.
Which one does the Legend use? Is there a list somewhere of headsets that are known to be working 100%?
TIA
From what I'm aware of I don't know of any third party wired headsets that allow the same full functionality of the HTC supplied ones.
I'm pretty sure all iPhone compatible headsets will work for audio / mic / call answer button, however I don't think volume control works (on headsets equipped with it).
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
As I looked for a headset with a 90° plug, I found the Nokia HS-125 wired HS.
I ordered and found out - not working. I opened the little plasticcase and swapped
those two wires (Pin 3&4).
Now its working perfectly and its possible to play/pause and select the next track (double press). And call functions also work.
What I did is that I bought the "cheap headset" and 3,5mm jack earphones from sonyericsson (I was able to buy those earphones without the SE adaptor...)
Now I have a great sound plus the ability to play/pause and it only cost me around 17 EUR (with shipping) try and search some local e-shops I'm sure you'll find something!
My Iphone headphones are fully functional as are my old hero ones
Thanks guys, looks like iPhone-compatible ones are worth a try.

Got mine from Gatwick airport and the clarity is awesome.Made for the iphone 4 but is pretty damn great on the legend
The Marshall Minor headset is also compatible (but no volume adjustment) - and both sound and build quality are tremendous. I'm a bit puzzled about the mic button functions though. Using my Legend's stock music player, all I can do is play/pause the music, pressing the Marshall's mic button once. If I press it twice, the phone starts calling the last-dialled number. If I press and hold the button, nothing happens. Using Poweramp, one press means play/pause, press and hold means skip forward. Double press does nothing but play-then-pause, i.e.no auto-dial function. Using Mortplayer beta, one press means play/pause, two means skip forward, three means skip backwards. No press-and-hold and no auto-dial. I'd like to have the Mortplayer functionality as well as the auto-dial function. Anyone knows a music app that does this, or another workaround?
