Writing a plugin capable app - G1 Apps and Games

I've seen various devs offering apps allowing use of 3rd party plugins and was wondering the technique they use to find and load these plugins into their own app. This might come in handy in the future for me.
Thanks.

I am also looking into something like this. Ill share if i find anything.

Froyo and the Market - Missing Apps

I have been using Appbrain to find and install new apps. However since putting in Froyo (which I LOVE otherwise) I am finding a lot of apps that are listed in appbrain but that aren't found in the market.
Is this just a version issue (ie the developer said it only works on specific versions) or is something else going on?

Just wondering how much searching you did before posting.
Quite a lot, actually, but since I'm not sure what it means for an app to be protected or whether the ones I'm not finding are protected, that thread didn't stand out to me. Frankly I still don't know if that will fix my problem, but I am certainly willing to try it.
Please keep in mind that there are those of us who are just learning, and sometimes we don't know all the ins and outs.
Oh, one other thing - if "protected" means "paid", those are not the ones I'm having trouble with. I am unable to see apps in the market that are free. Examples include:
NYTimes
Epicurious
Call Track
PAC-MAN
What kind of device do you have? And in which country are you?
A number of apps are not available for small-screen devices, or outside the USA. AppBrain shows all apps that are available for big screens in the US, so browsing it from a different device may sometimes let you find apps that the market won't allow you to download.

[Q] Using G1 as surveillance camera?

Im thinking about taking some rooted g1s and using them as surveillance cameras. I've searched for a while and cant seem to find anything on it. Has this been done? If so what's involved? Thanks
The closest application I can think of is QIK, you can run the application and check the video on a website.
thanks man I'll look in to that
you need four things:
wifi
g1
ipcamviewer
webkey (though I've never used it, I imagine tasker, also would be great for this)
oh and a power source
also webkey is so you can remotely control the phone... both the apps are free in the market.
if you make any improvements on my "system" let me know, I'd be interested to hear what you find.

There's also the Ustream app which is similar to Qik, but the solution of the guy I quoted looks like the better option.

[Q] 3rd party usb access

Trawled through affairs few pages of threads before posting this and didn't find anything, so figured I'd just jump in and go for a new thread.
I'm trying to teather my tab and dslr for live photo viewing etc. Although I've found an app that will let me do this, my tab doesnt give 3rd party apps access to connected usb devices. Any hidden settings i can play with? Kinda wanna stay away from rooting if at all possible, always been a bit paranoid of bricking my lovely tab :/
Thanks in advance!

[VIDEO PRODUCERS NEEDED!] What Is Your Perfect Teleprompter?

As a filmmaker, I shoot several different types of videos. One thing I have been trying to do is find a cost efficient teleprompter. With so many inexpensive tablets on the market, using an Android app seems like the most logical solution to this problem. I have tried several apps so far but none of them seem to fit my needs 100%.
I am not a developer, I am a filmmaker. I do however, have spoke to a developer interested in helping me solve my problem by creating a app from the ground up that is design exactly how I want it to be with the functionality that it needs. Before embarking on this task I would like to get some feedback from other video professionals and app developers alike on things ranging from currently available apps, things that are wrong with currently available apps & features that would be included in The Perfect Teleprompter App.
I expect that there will be a lot of responses that say there are options currently available and that the need for yet another teleprompter app does not exist. That being said, unless I find an app that has an interface that I like, the functionality that I need and the peripherals to make it even better, I will probably continue to pursue this project. THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD is to allow other filmmakers to provide their input and thoughts about what the perfect teleprompter app would be.
Features I currently have in mind (This list will change as I receive feedback. ):
Clean, Usable Interface
Dropbox and Google Drive Access
In App Editing
Speed Control during prompting
Text Size Options
Light & Dark themes
Movable Location Arrow (An arrow on the side of the screen that allows you to move it vertically to show the target location of the line being read.)
Bluetooth connection so your phone could be used as a remote.
Wired remote option
Mirror Mode
Scroll to any part of the script and start it rolling from that location
Free, fully functional version (No Ads)
Custom app branding (change splash screen to display your companies logo)
I want this thread to be a way for all of us to collaborate and make an app that we all enjoy using. It is a big project for me to take on and because of that, I feel it would be silly to keep it all to myself. Please post any suggestions, questions, idea or concerns. My goal for this project is to finally provide a teleprompter that does exactly what we need it to do as a producers. Thank you for the help and feedback and hopefully together we can get this app launched for everyone to use.
Thank you so much,
zpeverman

[Q] Default browser

I've searched and haven't found much other than it is not possible threads but is there any way to change the default browser to something other than stock?
I want to use UC Browser. The reason, I subscribe to a few boards that have videos posted, such as Powerblock TV, an automotive enthusiast site. Internet Explorer doesn't play half of them and when it comes to Flash, neither do.
However, I can cut and paste out of IE into UC and the video plays fine.
I did development back on Windows Mobile and never mad the cut to WP. We had some cool tools back then and I know the SDK is limited in WP in comparison.
Hopefully there is a way. If not, I will just live with it like I have been.
Nope, currently we can't make a default browser for THIRD PARTY Apps even SECOND PARTY apps.
Hope this feature will come in WP8.2 or may be WP9.

I suspected that although has anyone seen any reference to it in future releases?
It *might* be possible, on interop-unlocked phones. On WP7 I was able to make a different browser launch for *most* scenarios (that normally invoke IE) but changing the HTTP and HTTPS URI handlers in the registry.
It would be really nice if Microsoft had just let people list those URI schemes in app manifests, but nooooooo.
