Connect Xperia to a Wireless USB Modem??? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is it possible to connect Xperia to a Wireless USB Modem to access the internet????
I have a Reliance ZTE mg880 usb modem which I use for my laptop. Can I connect the same to my Xperia using a usb to miniusb cable to access the net???
Currently there is no 3G services in the place I live in... so just was looking for alternatives....
Regards,
IHWM

no, unfortunately, the mini usb of the Xperia does not provide power.
It's also why you cannot use USB mice and keyboards through the mini usb port.

USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter cable supported in Milestone?

Hi,
I want to connect my pendrive/usb mouse to my milestone via USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter cable. but milestone is not able to connect it. nothing happens when i connect the cable to it in its microusb port.
I tried the same in Samsung galaxy SII (unrooted) and it worked well.
I am using [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.1.5 (Android 2.3.7).
I want to know whether the milestone lacks some hardware capabilities or it depends upon ROM?
Use sixaxis men!!!
Wow! mmm.... i dont think that was possible but You could try SIXAXIS to connect a joystick at least. So you can use it like a mouse or any you want without any cables. (Sorry. My english is not so good).
IIRC mounting a usb flash drive should work but only if you plug it in before you turn on your phone.
ie turn off phone, insert OTG usb adapter, insert thumb drive, turn on phone.
But if you remove it after, you will have to repeat the process. Search the dev forum.
USB OTG supported?
I thought USB OTG was not supported on this phone. Does it really work?
IIRC, I think some work was done to try to compile a kernel module to enable support, but it stalled out when they realized there was voltage issues.

[Q] USB Tethering between TAB (P7300) and Smartphone (I9003)??

I have a Galaxy GT-I9003 phone and a GT-P7300 tablet.
Both devices support tethering to a PC via USB but, according to customer care at Samsung NZ, it is not possible to tether the phone to the tablet (or vice versa) with USB, only via wireless or Bluetooth.
I find this a bit strange.
Any thoughts??
I looked around for a cable to connect the two devices so that I could test this, but it looks like Samsung does not supply such a cable.
It may be possible to rig a cable using the cables supplied with the devices and a USB adapter??
doesn't it strike you that your phone has to be in USB host mode while your tablet as USB client?
That alone may be a feat to achieve, cabling comes later.

Always thought USB was a 2-way street.
Never considered the host/client scenario.
for example, your PC USB ports are host ports. You can connect devices to it and the OS will see the device and use it.
The port in your phone/tablet is usually a client. You only plug it so that the PC can see it.
Having said that, Galaxy Tab 10" has a USB host port function, and you can plug a mass storage to it, a mouse, or a keyboard, I think.
Some of the cheap tablets even allow you to plug a USB 3G dongle modem to it.
Now, whether your GT-I9003 has host port function, I don't know.

Question USB Dongle

Hi, guys!
Do you know if there's a way I can attach a USB Dongle into the port that's in the HDMI end of the Ready-For cable?
I mean, I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but they will only connect to the dongle that came with them, I have a regular USB to USB-Type C converter, which works on the phone if connected directly to its port, but if I connect it to the HDMI, it doesn't, if there a way to make it work?
I hope I managed to explain myself.
The HDMI's USB is only for charging. And if your keyboard and mouse connect to a dongle they are wireless but not bluetooth, if they were then you would be able to directly connect them to the phone. The solution is to either to buy a USB C hub with HDMI and USB or buy bluetooth periferals.

That really makes a lot of sense. I hadn't thought about it that way.
Thank you very much.
