Hello;
A curios thing happens every time I plug my kaiser to the PC with USB:
The proxy adresse of my 3G+ connection changes automatically from 195.115.25.129 (SFR/Vodafone France) to cpmeursault.d075.cp (or to cpchaume.d097.cp.... this change everytime)
Please see the attached screenshot.
Even if I replace it with the right one, it changes again a couple of minutes after that and as long as the phone is plugged to the USB.
Once I unplug it and I put 195.115.25.129 as a proxy, it stays like that!
This occurs to me only with my company's computer, not with my personnal computer.
I changed my ROM several times but it still happens, that means it comes from the computer not from an application/virus on my kaiser!
What makes me crazy is that the proxy changes always to something different, this means also that it does not come from my company, we have only one proxy here and it has a significant name!
Does someone please have an idea?
Thank you all.

Change the ActiveSync or Mobile Device Centre connection settings to 'This computer is connected to: Work Network' or 'The Internet' - Don't leave it on Automatic.

Andy
Thank you for this;
I will try it monday at work and let you know if it worked for me
Hello;
thank you for advice,
I tested it and it corrected a part of the problem!
actually, now, the proxy is not replaced by another one, it is just removed!
Every time I plug my Kaiser to the computer my proxy desappears and the text box becomes blanc!
Have you any other idea please?
Thanks

I am using Activesync 4.5.0 (Build 5096) on my WinXP laptop to sync the AT&T Tilt with my laptop and outlook exchange. I have no problem with Activesync over the cellular network or wifi, but when I connect the USB and it automatically launches Activesync on the laptop, I see this error on the PC side. Looks like it is able to sync everything except the Outlook data. I looked for this error code on Microsoft site, but I don't see much details about this error code. I have installed additional SSL certificates to see if that resolves the issue, but it didn't. I have had this issue from Day-1.
It is not an issue as long as I am in USA where I have cellular data service to get the emails/appointments/contacts into my phone over the cellular network. However, when I travel, I don't plan to pay for the exhorbitant roaming charges and so would like to use the USB link to sync the info.
Has anyone else faced this problem? Is there a solution?
I heard they had wifi overseas, too. Supposedly its not that exhorbitant, and possibly more convenient than keeping a laptop with you at all times to sync your PIM stuff.
I do carry a travel router with me everywhere with my laptop while on travel to create an instant wifi access point. However, if I am sitting in one of our offices and have a LAN connection to my laptop, I don't see why I can't get my USB connection to work. I am sure there are others who need to sync up Outlook while the phone is connected to the laptop for charging purpose.
Saw this on a site, might want to check it out:
http://devnote.stokemaster.com/2008/02/activesync-45-supportcode-85020006-and.html
" Support Code:80072f7d

Note that this involves registry changes so be careful with it.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
This site has the registry file that you can double click and modify.
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/LSPvalue.reg
This disables the Layered Service Provider (LSP) that use the Windows TCP/IP stack. "
Don't know if that will work, but worth a try.
Make sure to export your original reg key first so if it doesn't help you can always change it back.
Alemaker
I tried the registry addition on the phone just now and then rebooted the phone. But, it didn't help. I have seen this discussion on pdaphone forum, but it is not clear whether it should be done on the phone or the PC side. Chris Herrera's site is also not very clear about it. The file has a .reg extension. Does the extension indicate where it should be run? I manually added the parameter on the phone.
hmm,
good question, and searching both my Vista laptop and my Tilt registry, didn't even come up with that key, but it may be making a new key.
If it didn't work on the phone, try the pc, and if it that doesn't help, was worth a shot.
This is a two part problem.....
The first thing you need to do is add the reg entry to your PC not your Tilt. You can download and run the reg entry from
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/LSPvalue.reg
or you can add the line to your reg using regedit.....
The second part is changing the connection settings within ActiveSync....
- Go to File/Connection Settings within ActiveSync...
- Go to the drop down box that reads "This Computer Connects to:" and change that from "Auto" to "The Internet"
Those two items fixed my errors......
Good luck....
The last suggestion fixed it for me.
The funny part is that this is a problem only on my work laptop. At home I have no issues.
Thanks
worked for me too
...but it didn't work with dutty's...using RynCpprV6 at the moment.
I think it is something to do with my work PC..
Just want to chime in and say this fixed the activesync error 80072f7d for me too!
(added HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000, didn't reboot, and File/Connection Settings within ActiveSync changed from "Auto" to "The Internet")
Another thumbs up. Works a treat. Didn't even need to reboot.

Activesync error 80072F7D on Toshiba TG01 comes up when try to sync Toshiba TG01 with company's Exchange server
Solution;
Start>>Settings>>Connections>>USB to PC>>Uncheck box: "Enable advanced network functionality".
Sync'd up fine right after.
Whenever I connect my Tilt (Original WWE HTC TYTN II rom 1.56.405.5 and radio 1.27.12.11 flashed on it) I sometimes get Activesync to connect and sync, and other times it just gets stuck saying "connecting" and the activesync icon is spinning and green permanently. In order to get out of that I have to pull the usb plug, but then the Tilt freezes and I have to do a soft reset. Then after that it connects and syncs fine for a few times and then it has the problem again. I have tried it with the "enabled advanced network functionality" checked and unchecked, and still the same issues. Although, I only tried it once with the box unchecked. Also, what I noticed is that when it is syncing and checking for changes on the device, it reads through my "favorites" like two times beofre it says "connected". I have other PPC synced on other computers and they never read completely through the favorites, once or even twice.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First, a suggestion: Bump your old thread. Don't start a new one!
What other applications do you have running in the background? You said it syncs for a couple of times after soft-reset, so, I am wondering if you have any other applications causing the problem.
Lots of things could be causing your problem. Here are some things for you to try:
1. MOST IMPORTANT: Make sure that you plug your device directly into the computer. Do not plug the device into a USB hub or other device. If you are using a laptop, do not plug the device into USB ports in your docking station. More technically, make sure that the port you are using is a Root USB device, not a Generic USB one. This make quite a difference in Vista, because locking your computer or having a UAC prompt while you are connected to a generic USB device seems to interrupt the connection.
2. Make sure that you have "Advanced Network Funcationality" enabled.
2. Make sure that you have the latest version of ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista). If you are using Vista, the current version is 6.1. This version has some updated drivers that seems to help immensely with stability.
3. If you are using Vista, make sure you have all the latest OS updates installed. There was a Windows Update sometime back in November of 2007 that fixed some serious bugs in the USB drivers in Vista.
4. If you have Windows Firewall Client for ISA installed, do a search on the Microsoft website for possible problems with interactions between ActiveSync/WMDC and the firewall client.
Hope this helps.
Cardyin
In my experience - a year with an 8525 and 5 months with the Tilt - having "Advanced Network Functionality" disabled, gives more consistent positive results when syncing to a PC running XP.
OK.
Sherpa: I have no other applications running in the background. I always close all apps before a sync out of habit.
Also, I am not sure how to bump the thread.
Cardyin: I plug directly into my laptop, don't use a USB hub or anything. I don't have a dcoking station either.
I have the latest version of activesync: 4.5
I am using XP SP2.
I have no firewall.
dgduris: I have tried it both with "advanced network functionality" enabled and disabled, same results.
Thanks for responses
Anyone have any ideas about this problem??
Are you sure you don't have a firewall running? I have a similar problem with ZoneAlarm if I forget and leave the firewall on High security. I have to switch it to Medium security in order for ActiveSync not to freeze up like that.
I am positive, and if it was the firewall, it would do it all the time, not just every four or five syncs.
Anyone else have any ideas??
Anyone at all??
I can't solve the problem but I could advise as to a quicker way to get it synced when it decides to play up.
When mine does the interminable "connecting" business, I click on the "stop sync" button. It usually takes 20 seconds or so to stop.
I then click the "sync" button (same button) and the device always syncs immediately.
I don't know why it does this - and it does it a little too often for my liking - but that solution works for me.
It's a lot quicker than disconnecting and soft resetting too.
1) You say you dont have a firewall... I assume you mean other than the windows firewall. Try turning that off and then plugging it in. If it connects then you know it is a firewall issue. You can manually add the sync apps and ports to the firewall exlcusion list.
2) Try disabling the device lock if you use it. I had a shortlived problem with a pin lock blocking syncing. I disabled the pin, synced and then re-enabled the pin and it worked fine afterwards.
Tried that too...

Right, all I have is the windows firewall. I will disable that and try a few syncs.
As far as device lock or pin, I have none setup on my Tilt.
But Thanks for the responses.
Seems like at least one other person is having this issue. See Sparrowhawks post...
Anyone else have any ideas?? I tried the above advice and still not syncing correctly.
I have tried all the suggestions here and nothing is working. I can get the device to sync only about 3 or 4 times, and then it just keeps saying "looking for changes". I have the AT&T Tilt, with the original WWE HTC rom flashed on it. The way I have to get around this is to click "stop" on my PC and then wait abut 2 to 3 minutes for it to stop attempting to sync, and then when I click on "sync" on my PC it connects no porblem. Or I have to unplug the usb cable and soft reset the device, what a pain!
Anyone have any other ideas please?
I just noticed something else that may help identify the problem.
When I connect the usb cable to the device I get a pop up message from my laptop telling me that my wifi connection is connected and signal strength is good. This message is on the laptop, and then the device will not sync and keeps saying 'looking for changes' forever.

I have my PDA plugged into my PC at work and I have to use a proxy to get out to the internet. I am trying to figure out how to make this work.
I have added the registry entry on my PC.
I have set the connection settings in activesync including "This computer is connected to:" to all 3 options
I have tried to set up the proxy on my PDA
I have tried both WM6.0 and 6.1 ROMs
I have tried different radios
I have searched the Forums but if I missed something let me know
Any help would be great

Here is the solution:
Open Registry Editor on your desktop (Start/Run and type "regedit") and locate the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services. Right-click on the value list
and choose New/DWORD value. Type the name "AllowLSP" and leave the value zero.
Disconnect and connect your device and Pocket Internet Explorer (and all other
applications) will start working.

I'm not 100 % positive that this is the same issue you're having but I have a weird issue where my proxy from my work PC gets put on my phone regardless of what settings i tweak. My work blocks things like gmail and hotmail so whenever i try to access those on my phone it tries to put use my PC's internet and blocks it. If this is the issue you're having read my post#7 on this link.

This isn't obviously the easiest way to fix this but i tried EVERYTHING and finally find out how to fix it so i do it this way.
Hope this helps. Is this what is happening for you?

I already disabled the network functionality for activesync. I also did the registry update mentioned above. If I go to pocketIE it will act like it is trying to load then it will say "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later"
It seems like it goes to the DNS and gets the IP but from there it stops working.
Intranet sites work but not Internet sites. Any idea on the proxy settings?
So, are you trying to get your phone's internet source to work on your phone while connected to your PC? Or are you trying to get the internet FROM your PC to work ON your PPC?
I am trying to get the internet working from the pc to the pda.
I tried this ROM and it seems to be working now.
You still have to go into connections and set it to "my work network" and then edit it and add the proxy settings.
Thanks for the help.
Could someone explain in simple terms how to do that ? I want to share HSDPA/3G internet connection with my laptop while connected via USB (prefer wired connection as it charges the battery)
I've read Activesync's help, guide from Microsoft website, done those steps, still nothing .. I am probably missing something which is not obvious .. or something Diamond/WM6.1 specific ... that sort of thing.
Thanks a lot !
Start, Programs, Internet Sharing and the rest should be straightforward
For the a Sprint WinMo phone, you must change one registry value:
HKLM\comm\internet sharing\settings\ change the name of ForceCellConnect to ForceCellConnectXXX. just need to rename it.
then a new drop down appears in the ICS program. Select 'Sprint' in this new menu
to connect...
only connect 1 side of usb cable
start internet explorer, and start to load any page, press home screen, goto ICS program, press CONNECT, then connect usb cable to phone.
works every time

i have seen other methods, where multiple registry entries are changed...
what is the benefit to change other reg entries, does it alleviate the need to connect with a browser as the first step????
Hi,
Every time i connect my td2 to pc's usb the internet sharing application lunches.
How can i restore the default htc wizard that gives you the three options when you connect it to usb:
-Active Sync
-Disk Drive
-Internet Sharing
Thanks
yeah i have the same problem. it started only when i selected internet sharing in that menu. but now internet sharing automatically launches instead of the "ActiveSync, HardDisk, InternetSharing" screen.
Settings / All Settings / Connections / USB to PC and mark last sentence "Ask me first about USB ...."
already did that and still doesn't work...
yeah, tried that several times, even with soft resetting. no luck

i noticed this when i installed an app and it stuffed up.. i had to do a hard reset and it was ok..
sorry to state the obvious..... you guys probably didnt want to do a hard reset...
yes, hard reset pretty much solves all software problems which appear after user changes
i had the same problem last week and it made me crazy
i solved it on my device, perhaps it will work for yours:
i think the netsharing app only startsupa automatically if you disconnect your device from the computer without properly end the connection in the sharing application.
so when internet sharing app pops up, start the connection and then stop it again through the application. then close the app, disconnect your device from your computer and connect it again. now the old three-opt-popup should be visible again.
at least it was on my device
best regards, chris
thanks for your answers i will try that as soon as i get home...
Brilliant, I got this issue today and the aboveforementioned fix works, thanks
aah.. why isnt it working. mine automatically starts activesync and the netwerk sharing. strange stuff xD
hi,
fixed mine yesterday.
i put it in another pc's usb and the wizard appeared. i selected the disk drive option and when i got home it worked on my pc also.
still have no clue, just glad it works it was annoying to always close the internet sharing connection
