Latitude

Latitude would be so much better if it would let me save my pic anyone else have this issue with the new rc33. It allows me to select one and then crop it but as soon as I get outta that menu it doesnt save and cant see an option to do so. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix?

By default Latitude uses your Google pic. Have you tried setting a pic inside Gmail?

I guess when I selected the pic it updated igoogle but not on my phone I dont understand????

One possible explanation is that the phone is showing cached icons rather than the freshest ones from the server. When you upload the pic to Google's servers (either via phone or computer), the phone is still using the cached old pic. It might take a few hours for the app to get the new pic from the server. You can see this same behavior in the Google Talk pc client.

RC33 Jf mod latitude stuck in agree and share screen
Hi
I just upgraded to RC33 jf mod. have been trying out the new features.
I cant get Latitude to worl. whenever i try to start latitude, i get stuck at the agree and share screen. i get a busy icon with the message "saving your selection" and nothing happens
I have tried saving it using edge,3G and wifi.
the browser works fine so it should not be a network issue.
any ideas?

Upgraded to JFv1.41_RC33 w/ wifi and maps gets stuck on "saving your selection" after agreeing to latitude TOS.
Do you know if this issue is specific to JF/RC33. Would like to try out latitude.

Resolved
I previously had JFv1.41_ADP1.1 installed, then switched to JFv1.41_RC33 (to use latitude).
I did a wipe in recovery mode (alt+w) then installed JFv1.41_RC33, and followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316 - phone doesn't have a sim card), and now latidude let's me agree to TOS, and works fine. I wonder if there was an issue with the google account since it was registered w/ ADP1.1 instead of RC33.

a wipe fixed the problem

Not a day goes by where I don't see someone having issues cos they didn't wipe after an update. I don't care if you are going between build types or not. If you update, you wipe. Case closed.

hey when i try do the mod for rc33 it doesnt work i have spent hours and hours trying endlesssly to mod to rc 33 i modded it got multi touch so im at jf 1.4.1 i watched all the video tutorials looked at ones online but nothing works i getting sick of being stuck with rc 30 do u think if i did alt w the hack might work or alt b which im not completly sure what it does i think it wiped your sd card does anyone know what i should do plz respond by emailing me at [email protected]

Yes, I've found you must do a wipe (alt+w) when installing jf1.4.1 to get latitude to work correctly.

couple questions(hero apps/flash updating)

ok first, lets say i want to go from cyanogen 4.0.4 to 4.1.9.2(or whatever is the latest)
and i think i need to wipe and flash. ok so is there anyway i can do this and then restore my settings/homescreen ? i know theres nandroid.. but i was told it wouldnt work because if i restored the nandroid it would just take me back to my older rom. i also know thers backup for root users.. but its a little confusing to me and i dont really know how to use it properly =/
(ive seen the guide "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527997&page=3" but it looks a little outdated..)
how what should i do to keep my settings/appsettings when updating to new roms?
ALSO, is there any hero apps? like that one that like the picture frame on the g1, except with this one it has an album, and you can swipe and switch pictures!.. or music app? any other hero apps? though i also heard theyre strongly tied in with the hero framework.. but the album app doesnt seem that difficult to make but i wouldnt know lol.

I don't think you need to wipe for going cyan -> cyan, I never had a problem with it. HTC music has been out, check the the dev section.

Quick question regarding the facebook sync. By reading your summary of the facebook, i wonder if i have a different issue. When i go to accounts and sync, when i click add then facebook. It just goes back to accounts page. Does not even let me enter facebook information. However i am able to use the facebook app.
Is this the bug your referring to, or am i experiencing something different?

Ok, thanks for clarifying. In your summary might want to put something regarding "Unable to add to accounts & sync" , just for others that might be curious.

Wireless tethering worked for me, i just installed the one provided in the 10minute root video again after CM6 was installed. Then tested it and it worked fine. I also have Hydra Rom for stock speed undervoted with wireless N. Noticed when i did tethering it only connected to my laptop in G mode, however i am able to connect to my router in strictly wireless N broadcast.

Had this problem last night which forced me to revert back to stock firmware.
I plugged in my phone to charge at 11 PM. Then at 12.30 ish AM, i heard my phone vibrating. I looked and it rebooted. So i let it be, then few minutes later I heard it again. Then I decided to revert back to Stock.
Thinking that it was maybe caused when charging the battery. That the batt got 100% then rebooted? Not quite sure.
I can test again if needed.

what time is the nightly build and what time standard/zone?
i would love to try this but cant without bluetooth and am hoping it makes it into the next build. in my state they are cracking down on using your cell phone without a handsfree and giving big tickets to make up for budget shortfalls. so i need bluetooth. (i am too deaf for speakerphone, especially on the incredible, its not that loud)
i am excited, especially now i am 90% sure i am keeping the DINC now that the DX is officially going to be a ***** to root and no roms looks likely. and i dont know why blogs that pimp the phone keep saying "root is still inevitable" but i dont agree with that, if you cant get into the boot loader we would have never rooted the incredible and it only makes sense motorola has locked down the backflip root methods and made sure rooting will also be hard.
i just really want a bigger screen and a fast gpu, other than that, the DINC is the best.

It would appear that the incredible has been removed from the buildbot cycle as of the latest build. A version was built today (check the dates) but looking here: http://buildbot.teamdouche.net/tgrid it's no longer listed

I hit check for update on the rom in Rom Manager, but it didnt say there was new rom. The last one under nightly builds in rom manager still has same time stamp as one i got last night.

if you clear download cache and redownload it should be newer, someone posted the repo and it clearly showed a date and time of today even though the file name still said 7-8 or 7-9 on it the time and date were 7-10 unless it was mirrored then or osmething.

The filename doesn't change. Just clear the download cache in ROM manager and then choose download ROM, reinstall as usual. I guarantee its a different file. Updating OP with what my current build version shows.

Sometimes download of apps in market just stalls.
Some apps fail to install. (android-vnc)
Sometimes screen doesn't register touches until rotated.

Deleted the CM6 zip file from the sd card, then redownloaded the nightly build. Installed and noticed the rom version now has 7/11 as the date instead of the zip files number. So thats good. I see you crossed out the green light while charging bug. Thats only difference i have noticed thats been fixed.
I really hope they are concentrating on Facebook, Camera, GPS bug the most. Thats the biggest deal breaker for most i know.

[Q] Grudges with Android & Cyanogen Mod. Help me fix them please:-)

Hello from Trinidad.
I have had my N1 for a couple weeks now. I got it stock froyo frf91 I think, Tmobile model.
Anyway here are the issues I have with the device. I'm coming from a long line of Nokia Symbian devices as well as a Blackberry. Its very upsetting that things I have taken for granted on my nokias and bb are not available/implemented out of the box with Android. I can only hope this improves in future.
1) Alarm Clock. It does not go off. This happened both with stock 2.2 as well as Cyanogen. First issue. I edit the default alarms that came with the phone to the time and days that suit me. Set it for 6am Mon - Sat. It WILL NOT go off.
The only way to make it work was to delete the initial alarms that come with the device and then create new ones. This works fine after with stock 2.2. However on Cyanogen it will fail to work the week after.
Example - I set an alarm 2 sundays ago. It will work for Mon-Sat the prior week but for the week after it will not go off.....like this morning:-/. I did install the latest gapps with cyanogen 6.
This is a killer problem. its hard to believe that such a basic feature malfunctions in both Stock and Cyan. :-|
2)Gallery & Sync to Picasa - The gallery app is fine, besides the lag it takes to render photos. Anyway, when I sync my Picasa account with my phone it loads every single Picture from my account, with no way to hide albums or pictures. In addition to that I cannot download pictures from my Picasa account to the gallery..... So its only purpose is to view them?
3)Camera - App worked fine on Stock, sometimes Force Closes or throws the error "Cannot connect to device." on Cyan.:-/
4) Custom Ringtone per Contact - Maybe its me, but I cannot set a custom tone per contact in my address book. I can set a custom ringtone for the phone itself but not per contact. Please tell me that I missed an option and that this has not been left out. Its a basic feature such as an alarm clock......
5) I remembered. Whenever I set a phone number as the default for a contact, it does not save. i would always have to tick "Do this automatically from now on" or something to that effect, select the number and let it dial. After going back to contacts and dial the same number I would have to do it again.
For anyone that is gonna try to assist me this is what I've done so far.
Rooted the device but not unlocking the bootloader via a method I found on xda. I can't post links, but its the method that does not involve fiddling with the battery. Installed market enabler so that I could actually give google my money (way to go google :-/) and bought a couple of apps such as Titanium backup, Beautiful Widgets, Bettercut, Launcher Pro Plus and System info widget.
Btw I've had Beautiful widgets freeze/ force close on a couple occasions.
That's all I can recall. I'm gonna wipe my device to deal with this but I have another question before I do.
As I'm not in a country that can buy apps normally through the store, what will happen to my paid apps? Will they remain on my downloaded list or will they disappear? Any recommendations?
I've backed up my paid for apps with Titanium. Great app ... But how do I backup Titanium backup :-/?

The applications are linked to your google account so once you sign in with the same account it will start to restore them. I really don't know how it works for non market enabled countries but it should still show up and I have never seen anyone complain that they can't redownload them.
When reporting problems it's always best to start out fresh because something could have gotten corrupt or incompatibility with something else.

I should Have specified No. 4. I know you can set "system ringtones" to contacts, but I meant music, .mp3 files etc.

Il answer all ur probs. Der is a solution for all of it.
Be4 i answer der is one thing: u posted as if vry1 at xda forced u 2 buy an android device. People lyk u shud not b given an android device . Grr
Now to ur problems
1) as of stock , it shud work fine if u delete the initial alarm. On cyan it cud b a bug of cm6. Go 4 stock as of now. Also dont 4get 2 turn ur alarm volume high.
2) if u ever want to hide pics in ny of the folder jus rename the
folder as .name that is with a dot b4 the name. As for only being able to view the pics. WAT ELSE DO U NEED THE PICS FOR !!! MAKING PANCAKES?. ughh!!!
3) it works fine on stock , so use it till cyan fixes any bug if der is any.stop complainin unnecessarily

4 ur 4th prob. Create a folder in ur sdcard named audio . Inside it place 4 subfolders named ringtones, alarms, notifications, ui. Then watever file u place in these folders will appear in the corresponding selection boxes. Bt u must reboot 4 this to work. As of my last post srry 4 bein rude, i was sleepy. Its 3 am in here

The "default" ringtone chooser only allows "system" ringtones. The apps "ringdroid" and "Rings extended" give UI's that allow the selection of music/etc as a ringtone. Once one them is installed the next time you try to choose a ringtone it will ask you which application to use (and you can choose to always use that app)
I use CM6 and have just modified the default 2 alarms and they always work. Are you running any kind of auto-task-killer? (BTW they do more harm than good)
If you don't want to sync with picassa then disable "Sync Picasa Web Albums" in "Accounts and Sync" under your google account.

Create folders on your SDcard
Media/Ringtones
Media/Notifications
And put your MP3 files in there and then you can select them with the default ringtone selector.

1) The alarm issue I'll be testing over the next couple of weeks to see if it works or not.
2) I disabled the sync to albums in accounts for Picasa. I just hoped there was a work around at least to only display public albums or something of the like.
3) Will monitor the camera closely as well.
4) Hey thanks all. I got the ringtones set up, but i'll also try Ringdroid etc.
5) This still happens. Everytime I go into Call log for example, and try to call a contact with multiple numbers, I have to always select the number i want as default and tick "use this as default" or something to that effect.
Any help on No. 5?
Might try out another rom soon or might just reinstall CM6 after a clean Sd card and wiping the phone.

Not turning your phone off overnight are you? It needs to be on for the alarm to work.

Nope. Usually the battery is pretty drained during the day so at night is when I have it charging.
Also note that wave secure usually does its automatic backups when the charger is plugged in. Could that affect it?
I don't see how cause I did happen once on 2.2 but I'm beginning to feel that it was just a fluke.

While the phone is using data over edge, will I not receive calls?
i find it strange that people have been calling me and I get a text message saying that I have a missed call but my phone never rings. I'm only using EDGE data in my area so could that be the culprit?

Do a test, download something and call your phone at the same time?

@hafis93 - I thought that was very funny. They were even helpful responses. I'm gonna try the .name in a Picasa album to see if that hides it.

yes, while on EDGE, very often if someone calls you it will go directly to voicemail and you wont see the call ring on your end. its just the way it is on some EDGE networks, nothing you can do about it, and its not your phone as all phones would behave that way. sucks.

I've done a complete wipe of everything, Data, Cache Davlik etc and reinstalled Cyan and Gapps.
Everything seems to be fine so far, no force closes or camera failures.

One last thing though. Is there a way to enable the market without having to use Market Enabler? Reason being is that I have to "activate" it everytime for it to work.
I know there is a script on xda that does it but haven't been able to search it.

I have another issue to add to this topic. My apologies in advance if an answer to this is already available, can't seem to find it anywhere though.
When approaching the end of my battery life, my phone may start referring the wrong buttons. For instance, it may pick spacebar on the keyboard while I'm pressing letters above. Or strange response inside the browser like brief vibration or sudden zoom while I'm just trying to scroll down or something. I did experience the same issues in the past on stock build. Is there any sort of fix to this for CM6?

[Q]no contacts on CM10

Hey
I recently flashed my phone to CM10 ( the latest version from 23 nov. )
everything seem to work except for my contacts
It wont display any contacts on my phone nor am i able to log in on google account(?) so i can sync with my mobile. ( I saved 90% of my contacts on my gmail.com account )
Does anyone know how to get my contacts back and sync with google?
Oh, forgot to ask about this. ive downloaded play store because it wasnt pre-installed but apparently I cant open it. everytime when i click on the app it closes immediately
BTW: If i go back to other ICS roms i do get all my contacts even the one stored on my simcard.

Realy in DEV section? This belongs to General. But did you install the GAPPS? It seems to me, that you didn't read the guide carefuly...

Please go do general section. there are already at least 2 threads there for CM10 users and bugs.
Also, ask a mod to delete this one

i had the same problem.
installed the unbrick. only like 6 of my contacts showed up. goto contacts settings. contacts to display, customize. tick ALL OTHER CONTACTS.. then all the other ones that were synced from accounts like FB or TWITTER etc with no #'s shws up. but not my actual PHONE contacts. installed TG's ICS, all are back again... strange
