Optimized ROM closest to the OEM with Manilla 2.5 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Feel like I am going to be flamed for not researching enough... I was wondering:
* What is the "Best" cooked ROM so far staying within the 6.5 tree (And not 6.5.1 which seems unsatble for the moment) in terms of stability and speed and including Manilla 2.5
* What is the main advantage of Manilla 2.5 over 2.1 (Except the Home screen that can get a few more icons)
I have been looking around but I am a taker of everybody's synthetic point of view

All of them are good, but i think that only you know wich rom suits your needs, don´t you?

Ye sthat's whjy rather than just mentioning "What's the best ROM" I gave a few criteria
Not all ROMs are born equal in terns of stability and speed (Actually i should have added battery life to my list). There are lots of builts and since there is not much comparison threads about the advantage of one over another I am trying to leverage on otehr people's knowledge rather than flashing my phone 20 times

I agree, I would like to find this info as well, mainly because there is no stock rom listed for download for US Tmo.... So once I start flashing there is no looking back.
Main difference between 21. and 2.5 (touchflo/sense) that I want/need: Is the HTC Calendar event creation. I HATE WM screen for creating events, I really want HTC's, but this is, to my understanding, only available in Sense/touchflo 2.5

6.5 vs 6.1

i think many people tried both rom's.
Definetelly i think the bestg for me are 6.1 rom's.
but i agree graphical support of 6.5 rom's is much better.
for all who cook great 6.1 rom's don´t you think it's possible to cook a 6.1 rom with 6.5 presentation ( font's, graphics and so on)?
i speak for me, of course. but i think many people will love that.
Thank's to great cooker's.
6.5 roms offer you the best of both worlds, in terms of user interface.
Really, what you find in 6.1 roms, you can find in 6.5 roms.
Overall, when you use 6.5 roms (e.g., Miri's) you can actually "sense" the stability of the operating system.
Kudos to all cookers!
I prefer 6.1
Although the taskbar is transparent for 6.5 in main screen but if u go into any application i will turn to some ugly color.
I don't know if graphic is really improve in 6.5 because i got the same bug when browsing picture by Picture Video Application for both 6.5 and 6.1
I hate titanium with too big letters on home screen it really killed my background.
I prefer 6.1 for 6.5 dosen't support the file enhancement,so that supermemo will not work well in 6.5
Think this will be another opinionated thread and thus will be closed by a MOD I'd imagine rather shortly
Both WM6.1 & WM6.5 have pro's and con's and to decide which is better is different for every user.
Best just to try both, make your own decisions and stop creating threads like these which clutter the forums.
I'd rather this thread was about apps and features, than just opinions
ie: which apps won't run on 6.5
and which features you need from 6.5 - like market place support , that 6.1 doesn't do
I think these kind of threads are actually quite important as they do answer critical questions.
Since there is no right answer here, and only opinions about what is better, it would be quite fantastic if someone could post a neutral and factual post that compare both top cooked roms (miri & duty) and list the top differences that are consequential to using 6.1 and 6.5.
The value of such a thread is obvious: having an informed decision about what you get with 6.1 vs what you get with 6.5...
--------------
As for my personnal opinion on the matter: well 6.1 reminds me too much of the PDA I had 6 years ago and it depresses me. 6.5 is a marginal evolution, but it is finger friendly (to some extent). TouchFlo is the winner anyway and kudos to HTC for the effort (which shows how retared and unwilling MS with WinMo).
I have to say that neither are up to what I would expect to get in 2009, so unless MS release a fantastic 7 version quickly, I will go back to the iphone or try Android...

If the thread sticks to factual information like you say and is not based on opinions then fair enough. But if all it is is people stating they prefer one over the other then its not much use and a MOD will close thread......and what critical question has this thread answered?
Over the last few months I have flipped beween the two OS's WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 and have always come back to WM 6.1 as I found WM 6.5 to be buggy and at times sluggish so alway s felt like beta!
However that all changed in the last month or so when I flashed miri's wm6.5 v10 now v12, WM6.5 is now stable and very fast most of my 3rd party apps all work very well the other reasons I would recommend wm6.5 over wm6.1 are better memory management, better kinitic flick scroll, better user customisation and finaly that simple but effective titanium homescreen!

Lucky you not MOD

Let me get this straight.. (about flashing ROM)

I'm a new Xperia user. I have it for 3 days now and basically what i've been doing these 3 days was studying this awesome xda-developers forum and learning everything about flashing, roms, etc..
I've been determined to upgrade my default WM6.1 to WM6.5. After first day of reading this forum i knew it's not gonna be simple, but stubborn as i am, i managed to get tha hang of it and did everything to flash my X1 with cooked rom. But then came the real dilemma: which rom should i use?? I've been looking for some forum topics to help me decide, but i found out that the only right way to do this is check every ROM individually, read about it first and if it looked good (feedback from users, collection of included apps, gadgets, etc), flash it to my X1.
By now i've flashed 6 ROMS and to be honest, i didn't like not even one of them. And this got me thinking: why would i need to upgrade to 6.5? Neither of rom worked faster than my default 6.1, all of them have this 'unfit' feeling (like when you see it you know it wasn't made for your phone) and all of them are buggy (some more, some less)..
So i'm asking YOU, the happy user for whichever WM6.5 rom:
- Why did you upgrade WM61? What's so much better with WM65?
- Is WM65 really so much better than 61? What are the bigges advantages?
- Which ROM are you using? And which cooked ROM(s) are your favorite?
I know this has probably already been ansvered, but is there any information about official WM65 upgrade for Xperia?
Lastly let me say this post is NOT a criticism of 'cookers' or this forum in general. I would just like to hear some of your opinions to decide which OS i want on my phone.. i really can't decide at the moment, so.. thank you in advance.
greets..
Well there is a bias toward the wm6.5 roms, just because its the latest and and more finger friendly. This is after all xda DEVELOPERS site, so its not meant to be 100%, but from my flashing's its pretty darn close... GO Chefs!!!
But I as well wouldn't mind seeing some wm6.1 roms based on R3 with the latest apps and extras, but I see few to none like this.
But like the saying goes beggars cant be choosers. So i take what these very generous chefs cook up
I'd use Valkyrie Xperio 3.9 + SPB Mobile Shell, or if you want Manila use Valkyrie Leo.
If you don't like those, then use a 6.1 rom like TouchX or Jack's v3.
It takes less time to try them than to get a bunch of people's feedback and then try them anyways.
Hi! Welcome to the forum!
I must admit I had a similar dilemma when I first flashed my X1. I find I keep going back to Smaberg's Touch X 10.1. It's a 6.1 ROM with manila (TouchFlo) 2.1 and it is fast, smooth, stable and fully functional. There is a new version with weather on the home tab (10.7), but there are still a few small issues which need to be ironed out before it is as stable and usable as 10.1.
For testing out 6.5 I love the Valkyrie ROMs by Agent_47. They are usually very well set up (with a good selection of apps and performance tweaks) and bugs are found and fixed quickly. My favourites are the Topaz/Rhodium versions since there is almost as much eye candy as the Leo roms, but less bugs / missing functionality (landscape works in manila, for instance) and they usually run a bit faster. If you want to try just a basic 6.5 rom without TouchFlo, I recommend Experio. You can install SPB mobile shell on it, too. If you want to go the full eye candy route, the Leo ROMs are nice and Rotastrain's ROM is worth trying.
The advantage of 6.5 is that it is more finger-friendly than 6.1 and there are a few usability improvements. One thing I personally don't like, though, is the volume control with the latest 6.5 builds. So far the cookers haven't been able to work around it. Also, it runs slower and since most builds are still beta there are bugs, but they are getting better.
There are a few 6.1 ROMs out now with Leo manila (touchflo 2.5) but there seem to be a lot of dependencies and it's not easy to get them to play nicely together. They give a good blend of speed and eye candy, but I find the clunkiness of the underlying 6.1 clashes with the looks of touchflo 2.5.
Hope I haven't made things more complicated! Have fun flashing and enjoy your X1!

[POLL] What ROM would you recommend to people?

This thread is for people like me, who don't know what ROM to choose from a list of many ROMs from many great chefs.
I am keeping my poll options empty for the time being as I have only played with a few ROMs without any guidance. I will begin to populate them as I start to see a few specific ROMs appearing consistantly.
I would like to ask the community of xda-developers to come by and help populate this thread with simple comments
and/or recommendations on what ROM(s if you have multiple devices) you use on your Rhodium/Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2 device.
Also, please also add what kind of user your are, or how/why you use your phone with 'said' ROM.
Additionally beneficial would be letting users know what ROM you recently used prior to your recommendation and the offsets you experience in general.
ie. ROM A is the one I recommend. However, ROM B does a few things a bit better, although ROM A is the one I would recommend to people who like smooth, quick eyecandy filled ROMs.
I also ask for intelligent, constructive critique on what you think about the ROM that you are commenting upon.
No one needs to know about what piece of profanity you would like to tack on 'user A' for saying '10101' about 'ROM B' or vice-versa.
This is meant to be a resource for new users to xda-developers, like I was, and to new owners of the HTC Touch Pro 2/Rhodium, Windows Mobile phone.
Candidly, I would like to have the moderator's support in keeping this a clean thread to have an easier (and more pleasant) navigation throughout the thread.
I would like to start off with creating a list of ROMs organized by chef name and OS/TouchFlo 3D version.
Underneath each ROM and their links (I will either find the ROM myself, or if you can be so helpful enough to link it onto your post
within this thread), I will be adding the pros and cons that are mentioned here, and that I have found as well.
To let you know a bit about my bias, I am looking for the following items;
-Speed
--Not only operating speed, going from interface to interface, but also how it handles multitasking.
--I usually do these three together; GPS, music, web browsing/text messaging
-User Friendliness
--From first stepping into the ROM, to using it for a couple of days and seeing it's inevitable and understandable flaws and offsets.
--Customizing settings on the ROM, and the ease to have certain things.
-Miscellaneous
--Other things such as the way the ROM will handle things such as the
unsightly error of TouchFlo 3D 2.5 and it's lack of Landscape viewing ability.
--These items will account for my general accountability on the topic of
"Would I (highly) recommend to my friend, who may be the same as, or a completely different user than, me."
My history with phones;
I have first used Motorola phones, starting with the t220 (apparently one of the first camera phones) moving to the RAZR V6 MAXX
(quite a glam, nice looking phone with great features, but poor connectivity issues with network and bluetooth) and a few years ago
Sony Ericsson phones such as the W810, K850 and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1a.
Most recently;
I have late last year, used a BlackBerry BOLD 9000, and in the past 3 months, trialed the Sony Ericsson XPERIA.
Without much ROM customization, the stock ROM was fun to play with, but lacked the easy access and user interface speed that
I have become accustomed to with the BlackBerry BOLD 9000. However, in seeing the Touch Pro 2 and purchasing it, I can now fully indulge in customizing
it with ROMs to fit my needs, though I am still painfully without hardware keys to have quick access to my browser, music or GPS.
However, I suppose the full 5 row keyboard makes up for the lack of hardware buttons elsewhere on the body.
Currently, I am using my Touch Pro 2, mainly as a resource device. What do I mean by this? I am using it with a SIM Card that only has data services.
I have installed programs such as Japanese dictionaries, phrase banks and linguistic aids to help in my study of the Japanese language.
I also use this for school (I am currently in grade 11, high school) using this device as my quick access to the internet (even though I have my blackberry).
I suppose having new devices is an obsession for me, as with a few others on here.
I'm looking for ROMs that will allow me quick and easy access to the programs that I frequent the most such as my Japanese programs, GPS,
music, web browser, notes, M-Soft Word and also allow me to freely multitask with them.
I know that this is mainly hardware dependent, but I have learned that some ROMs take up less RAM space, as to free up some more coasting speed for programs to run on.

How come?
If I'm making a bit too bias (on what I'm looking for) then I won't include my own opinion. That's fine.
But I want to have something like what the Kovsky/Sony Ericsson XPERIA forum has.
A ROM index, but enhanced with things such as recommendations, and owner/users & chef comments.

Personally, I dont mind, like the idea and I was just giving you a heads up. Maybe you should ask a mod before your proceed further.
I would say this poll would avoid other threads like "what do you think is the best rom" or "can you advise me some rom"
So thumbs up
the best way to keep one thread like this is :
take one benchmark.. and test all the rom.. and post all result here
like topaz one
otherwise will locked soon
Benchmark?
"How does Benchmark?"
I think.. by emulating the ROM's speed and multitasking capabilities and such?
I want to know, not by computer, but by people why 'said' ROM is great.
Honestly, this is my story here;
I heard that ROMeOS's ROM for the Rhodium was great, although I had first saw Athine OS (both the light and Titanium builds with 2.1 and 2.5 Manila, 6.1 and 6.5 WinMo) and saw the pictures of the interface were just completely amazing.
So I downloaded them, but saw that they ran.. just the same as my stock ROM (at quite the same speed), though it was much cleaner than my Telstra stock ROM which was confuddled with many apps and things that I didn't need. And the light blue theme just didn't do it for me.
So then I just recently (actually last night) installed the ROMeOS ROM on my TP2 and found it so fun to have so much control upon things such as background wallpaper (both for lock screen and home screen tab). Also things such as backlighting, edit tabs, set up bluetooth, set up data, ringtones, message notifications ALMOST EVERYTHING customizable (that you would usually have to go in and out of menus for on the stock WWE ROM, and sometimes the Athine ROM) was located in one simple tab. Neigh, a simple section within a tab that had even more customization for other things on the phone.
THAT! That was most likely made this ROM popular, and it really did get into my good books quickly... until I found out that Manila 2.5 doesn't support Landscape.
I feel like I should either.. move onto another ROM, or just live with it.
I'm using Gyrator 2 along with my ROM, and it DID have the event action NOT to have auto rotate in Manila.. even though.. I want it to...
This above.. I'm looking for comments such as this, except from other, MORE experienced users with better opinions. Who hopefully can dumb it down so that people like me and many others, still fairly new to Windows Mobile, xda-developers and the HTC Touch Pro 2/Rhodium alike, can understand.
I believe.. that this should be something like a collaborative blog.
Just reading back up on my post right now, it's almost as if I were reading someone's story.
Many users might not want to go through that, and others may just want to write something to have their experience heard.
What I want to do is sift through all of that, and just have the comments, positive or negative, tacked onto each ROM in a list.
My ROMs Listing post.
Right by each description from each Chef.
Maybe it'll be reason enough for mods to keep this alive, maybe it won't be.
But... saving the effort of going through each ROM (there are about... 6-10, give or take 5^x) in which said thread for said ROM has 10+ pages of posts, usually around the vicinity of 30-50.
That is A LOT OF READING.
useless information
personally, this is useless information and i don"t go by polls. The best information is based on users" signature. I also take time to read, instead of relying on polls.

How does one know which is best if they do not try them all? You mentioned two ROMs but have not mentioned the others. Can you give valid opinion on which you think is best without trying them all? Everyone has different tastes.
Those are just some of the things the mods may say and have said.
Like what I said, I don't mind a thread like this and wish there was a way to do this in a way that was more subjective.
Maybe there needs to be an official ROM judge
Edit
Well that won't work either.
The only for you to know what ROM is best for you is to try them all until you find one that you like for yourself.

Then.. maybe not polls?
What other way would be the best to;
1) save you time from reading a couple dozen to a couple hundred posts everytime you got a new device (though we're only talking about the Rhodium, and if you've read all those posts, I suppose you're a lost cause that I want to avoid being like, and want to help others avoid being as such as well)
2) Get you the accurate information on what are the highlights of the ROMs
2b) Without all the different ways that each chef sets up their forum posts to explain what their ROM does
2c) And have it all in one common format
3) Not many people post their ROMs on their signatures. I just saw it around as a growing
@At0mAng
Thank you for your opinion at this time of night.
Yes, did only mention (actually it was) three roms.
However, that is just only my input.
I've yet to trial the Miri ROM(s) and the Energy ROMs, just to name a few.
But mainly, I want simple, quick or concise comments on which ROMs a good/great and for what reason. Is it some part of the ROM? Does it perform better in the way that you've explained that you are using your TP2? Etc?
Yes.. everyone has different tastes, but they can mention what they like about 'said' ROM and help people become objective by the comments made here, and the quick pros and cons that have been tabulated onto the second post of this forum for quick reference as to which ROM does what best, or includes which great feature.
Edit;
This thread isn't here to decide Which ROM is the NUMBER ONE (for YOU)?!
It's to help guide newcomers to xda-developers, the HTC Touch Pro 2/Rhodium and Windows Mobile (all together) choose which ROM to pick.
I mean.. for new people, they have probably heard of ROMs, but don't know what to do with it.
What the heck is a HardSPL and flashing it?
Or, naturally after coming from the HardSPL resource sticky, one does suddenly freeze up and get stuck before spending 3-5 hours reading posts and choosing which ROM to pick and install, only to find out it doesn't really meet their requirements and move on to another one with a HUGE amount of wasted effort.
This here is to help people like that make more objective decisions, much quicker with the pros and cons of each ROM outlined and defined.

Completely agree with At0mAng and I like this idea. I don't understand the fear of flame wars either. Just ban the people who start flaming and can't have a normal discussion.
As for this thread, maybe we could all post reviews of a ROM in a certain template. E.g. give grades for speed, apps, stability, eye candy, etc... Some people look for speed and clean ROMs, others just for the most fully apped ROMs. With a review template, you could have a quick overview of what a ROM performs best on and make your pick.

It's not the point of this thread to find THE best ROM, but to find the most suitable ROM that fits your needs, at a glance...
Normally these threads are just closed as At0mAng said, but that would be unfair to the OP who's invested a fair old bit of time in this. It isn't the usual format and could be beneficial.
I've said before, that there isn't a forum rules preventing these threads, they are just closed because most of the people who create them are lazy noobs. If this threads is successful, then it "should" lead to less new threads.
I'm now subscribed and will monitor it, if it does degrade in to pretty much a Chef A vs Chef B thread, then I'll close it.
Thanks

Hi,
I'd like to take the opportunity to try to find a ROM which fits my needs: is there any Rom out there with WM 6.5, quicker than the stock ROM (if one can compare), with as few bugs as possible, still keeping Manilla 2.1 ? By the way, I am not interested in aesthetics, nor in software when the cab is available to install by myself. I only tested EnergyROM Genesis up to now, which is excellent, bug free as far as I can tell, but with many applications, very good aesthetics, maybe speed could improve with lighter graphics... Is there any quicker ROM here ?
On a side note, I find that the virtual keyboard of the TP2 is slow, e.g. changing from alpha to numeric takes too much time (then the first digit you type is ignored), does any ROM (or cab) improve this ?
Recommended ROM
I agree with the moderator that this poll (purely on the basis of statistics) is an interesting experiment and should not be stopped. It is vital though that people who vote have tested a significant number of the roms available.
I tested all the roms available on the 20-25 Sep period (7-8 of them) and I ended up using NRGZ28's Leo Manila 2.5 ROM as the most stable, fast, good looking. Essentially I encounter no bugs in every day use and I would recommend this rom to any TP2 user.

What would you say is the best rom?

Looking for a good reliable rom, just wondering what would you say is the best rom to have on my blackstone?
the clean rom ist the best and the fastest rom on xda.
the top version is better than the bottom version.

BlackNew V
I really like BlackNew ROMs. I tried Energy ROMs, both on my Diamond and current Blackstone. They are pretty and full of apps, but slows down the machine a lot. And for speed and functionality is top priority
With BlackNew ROMs you get speed and some usefull apps
are the mods on holiday? they normally close these threads because they can be so contentious
Yep cant be long before the padlock cometh...We're not allowed to have a discussion about who likes which rom & why on here You've got to spend hours and hours, days and days trying them all yourself and going with the one you like, but remember not to post to tell anyone..

The mods will soon type something into this thread along with this line: "thread closed"
Maybe the Mods have realized that you can't close down these types of questions, hence another one will always pop up! These forums by nature produce these comparisons, so in effect they are the root cause. Can you condemn something that you are responsible for?
I love Energy Roms...I always come back to these. They just are "eye candy", and have all the features and personalization ideas that I love...but they are really designed for the HD2 which makes them "fat" on our HD units...Eg... they are 220+ MB for a ROM footprint compared to 168MB for a KWBR rom footprint. Hence the downside to me is they are generally more sluggish COMPARED to others...but they get faster as NRG keeps cooking.
KWBR's rom is quicker, but would love to see some eye candy enhancements.
Miniterror's roms are awesome...but would love to see CHT back in.
Have not tried many of the others as these guys keep producing too much quality to send me elsewhere..
I tried Kenia's BLack V, and that was awesome!! But just could not got back to the 6.1 OS...but he did a super job blending new age enhancements with the stability and speed of the older systems.
Thanks cooks
Regards
J
I don't see the problem with other people's opinion it's like feed back in one place instead of going through each thread on the ROM have one thread with feed back for all the ROM's in one place. Just an idea..
the reason why they get closed is that everybody has a different look of how a rom should lok like and what should be included in the rom
as it are opinions there cant be decided whats the best rom
also benchmarking wont be the answer as i have read that you can set some thing that the rom becomes verry slow but benchmark scores mega high that it should be the best rom
so for me the best rom is my own
i like the colors that are in and the programs and the fact its dutch
some others could like nrg rom more as they like those colors or the startmenu at the bottom builds
it all comes down to you what you want
maybe on a side note somebody can make a spreadsheet off the roms out here with the functions the roms have like startmenu at the bottom or on top
colors or default look and stuff like that
best ..
.. is your own ROM ..
My best: Blackdragon 3 Final
I tried them all, but with a windows phone speed and stability should be top priority. You can always customise your phone to your requirements. So I vote for blackdragon by Andy, as my best rom; mainly becasue of its incredible speed and stability.
I've tried most ROMs and became a bit of an NRG fan but I think there are too many changes for me to keep up with these days. It's great to try many ROMs and see what nice toys there are and also which areas of stability you need.
Been using G10's Evo v6.00 (24001) 30.06.10 for a couple of weeks and have to say I love it. Battery and connection (UK) as well as GPS for TomTom is great so I'm sticking with this for a bit.
I'm sure some great new feature or app will tempt me to try something else in the future though.
Just flash a couple a week until you get bored (by then you'll know exactly what you want) would be my best advice
Hi there,
I my opinion these are the best 3 options:
1: [ROM][WWE][10-Jul-10] Cloudy 0.4 (WM6.1)
It's one of the fastest roms on this forum but has all the features you want. It's no "clean"rom or anything like that. I see this rom as one of the "jewels" around here. I did not detect 1 bug or glitch or anything like that while using this rom for a week now.
2: Try KWBR's rom. I am a big fan of his work and his roms are usually the most stable and also very fast.
3: Go with a wm6.5 titanium rom and if you like buy spb mobile shell and customize it the way you want. I belive ram usages will go up to around 50% while using spb so you are probably not as fast as option 1 or 2.
Good hunting!
i would say again there is no such thing best rom...
read the sticky dude...
every chef has different goal on their rom release
exp
- want clean roms for fast performance ( i prefer clean rom ... )
- want stable rom less bug ( for stable i prefer stock rom )
- want best look for lastest rom release ( WM 6.5 com 5 built )
I think jude1993 just wanted people's opinion to what they liked or disliked about the ROM's. I am intrested aswell. What is the best ROM is the wrong title for this thread though, Maybe it should say your opinion of the ROM's. Just an idea
I've tried loads of different roms too....Gets very tedious Loading all your programs n contacts n messages etc..
This weekend I've tried most of NRG's latest offerings, but dear god they are slow. For me anyway I use my phone for work, not to look trendy, but to run fast, stable & smooth.
I've come from Onkologs stable of roms, so its been tricky to find a modern comparison...And I much prefer 6.5 to 6.1, but not the latest bottom button builds.
For me the fastest most stable clean rom I have come across and go back to each and every time is....
Energy.BLACKSTONE.21895.Titanium.Mar.17
Needs a bit of tweaking here n there but have not found anything to touch it for speed/fluidity/stability.
Just my opinion
Mick
this is very interesting
as i've been trying out WWE 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5sth(at least 30+ times of flashing)...i'd say i eventually chose WWE 6.1 Lite Rom. The reason why to my choice is more speed, more rom capacity, and ram usage. Well, actually most cookers here did very good job as theirs roms are stable, compatiable and fast in general, appreciated! Without considering eye candy interface, WWE 6.1 is the most fastest rom compare to WWE 6.5 or up...
All in all, there's always sth i think which hardly get solved is language patch problem. Ok say like i am chinese, hk...my rom is WWE 6.1, i'd spent some certain time trying out chinese patch which i needed to read and write chinese...some cabs installed that could read and write in chinese but then while some app running that easy to get device "hang", some apps couldn't display chinese characters properly...this is i what found so far an unresolved issue...would you agree...?
thanks
cheerz
over the past 3 days i have flashed about 5 roms Im currently trying miniterror ,but i find my self wanting to go back to the energy roms more for the eye candy
before it used to be duttys roms but now im neither here or there.
But always gravitating towards Energy the Maryone roms I have tried so many times and they always feel too slow and sluggish ...

try CLoudy 2.2 COM5 or COM2... for me, this is the best ROM ever had. no issues with this ROM. retain more stock ROM... not very much added application or programmes for optimal speed

There is no best ROM. This question have been asked for over 100 times now. Each one has his own needs.
Maybe the best ROM is the original one + some tweaks.
If you look for speed, than don't choose a ROM with Sense. A clean one should be fast, so look at Lite ROMs.
If you want something good looking and speed, choose a port of X2 ROM, because it looks better than X1 and it's not sluggish like Sense ones. But X2 ports still have some issues so they are not so reliable (Slideview is buggy; if you don't use Slideview it will be a good ROM; whenever I don't want Sense anymore I flash jerpelea's X2 port).
Right now I'm using "Genesis One" ROM. It is one of the fastest Sense ROMs, and has cooked in some programs I usually install (latest version has some unsolved bugs from what I've read, so I don't use latest version).
Another good ROM if you are looking for Sense is 826x one (one of the best contenders for the first place and highly recommendable).
Valkyrie and Energy ROMs have lots of programs I don't use, so I skip them (maybe you'll use those programs so they will be best ones for you).
Jack's v5 is another fast and stable ROM that uses WM 6.5. I haven't tested latest version because I couldn't download it. It has multiple types, so you can choose between lite, medium and full.
I haven't flashed other ROMs lately, so I can't comment about those.
The best ROM is the one YOU like, so read first posts of each ROM thread to see if it contain what you need, and latest posts to see which one is more stable.
Cheers!
The one that doesn't suck. 826x♥
I have a question .
I think the best rom is original rom .
50 % faster than other roms .50 % more STABILITY .never freez .more battery less bugs.
If someone want good looking menu no problem .there is alot of thems like spb mobile shell .
why should I choose other roms ?what is the benefit ?
I voted for the original rom R3AA. It's the most reliable and that's what is most important for me. I don't want to deal with freezes, not working features, synching issues etc. And if you tweak it (increase font size, install spb pocket plus, spb mobile shell, pointui home 2 etc.) it is almost as finger friendly as WM 6.5.
1) STABILITY-RELIABILITY - 826 (used to like Energy/christians, now 826 by a distance)
2) SPEED - 826x doesent slow down muchn after installing all apps etc.
3) GENERAL PERFORMANCE - 826 is very well rounded, though energy isnt bad
4) GOOD LOOKING - Energy (GTX), but i prefer to make my own look, so ir doesnt bother me too much.
To sum up, i dont think the rom cookers have matched the speed and stability of 826x. If only 826x were updated as often as Energy (but his is more stable, so i guess no need)
Edit : would like to try laurenti's as seems tiny!
general performance and for texting = Valkyrie Firestorm. , I tried 826X and energy series (all) although they are fast , needs restarting and for me slow when typing on the on-screen keyboard. Valkyrie Firestorm best used for txting + maxkey + softtouch config. The best. But that's just for me
agrees with cristidotro.
issues like this has been tackled soooo many times already.
it all boils down to your personal choice based on your needs.
best way to know which ROM suits you best? try everything.
there's no easy shortcut. experience is the best teacher.
i arrived with Jack's basic ROM. but that's just me.
There is one very good "old" ROM missing - PCTech4U v.2 - I'm testing a lot of ROM's but still comming back to mentioned ROM. Stable, fast, ...
i never try using other rom except 826x,but i think its pretty satisfying
very fast,responsive,and stable
good job master willy
I think Shady's rom is the most customizable I've ever seen here on the forum. Have a look here
[ROM][Multi-lang][19 langs] Shady313 Make Your Own Series [23134 Release 1][29/08/10]
To bad it's not an option in the poll, otherwise it would have got my vote. Have tried almost all the other roms but this one is the best....if you ask me ;-)
Peter
I just wish more rom cooker include Maxsense! I've just switched to the only x1 Maxsense rom (Energy one). It looks awesome, but a bit slow. I was flashing my sister's Palm Treo Pro to a 6.1 w TF2D rom...and it was BLAZING fast! Lookwise, is a lot to desire.
Sounds like 826x is the most recommended rom, but I think the next rom I'm going to try will be Christian' because I really like the tilewave panel.
Granted, I haven't tested too many ROMs.
But from what I have seen, the 826x Series definately stands out as the most reliable, stable, fast and responsive ROM. It also has a lot of free RAM - for a Sense ROM, that is.
It also looks very nice, though you can possibly find better lookers out there. But doesn't seem like that performance and reliability can be beaten.
i actually like th xpure as the best
used to play around with energy, but the stability of energy is not good enough for me and the battery consumption is pretty fast for its eye candy
moved to 926 for a few days and the stability of it is just awesome. great speed also and that's what i wanted for.
If you want a rom with the latest tech and full of eye candy, energy rom must be your good partner. But for users need stability and speed, 826 series will not disappoint you
