I’m Fairley new on here, so forgive me if I make a faux pas or two.
No disrespect to any other themers, but I can’t find the theme I’m looking for, so I decided to go ahead and do a little photoshopping. Please find attached the concept that I came up with. The problem is I know that I’m not the best person to do the actual themeing, as firstly being a studio engineer I spend most of my time in a recording studio, so not a whole lot of time for experimentation etc. Also I’m not the greatest programmer etc, and I think what I would like to do might take knowledge of the platform that I just wont be able to grasp.
Anyway, if anyone likes the look of my concept and would like to collaborate to make it into something to share with the community, i would really appreciate it, and would make sure i got all of the files needed to you.
Hope someone likes the concept anyway,

For a concept it looks pretty damn good, easily one of the better themes. If you could make this, or partner with someone who can, this would be an amazing theme to have.

i was having a look at the framework.res.apk file i think and to be honest im pretty confied by it all.
If anyone can think of a better name for the theme please let me know, as i just came up with darkstar on the spot, as i was making my original post.

Amazing! I love it and hope someone helps you with it. I'm still new to android also and am in the same boat as you. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but no time to really dig in and see whats what.
Does that clock/date/media player widget exist already or is it also concept only as of now? Looks great!
i'm not gonna lie. this looks REALLY sexy. and i think "Darkstar" is a pretty sleek name. stick with it.
I love the concept as well, but sadly there are some elements that cannot be changed without getting deep into the coding of it all. So far we're mostly stuck to just replacing images. I do hope you get something rolling with this idea..it seems slick and simple.

this looks really good. i don't see why anyone can't help make something close to it. for the dialer and the top tabs, wouldn't you just make them transparent .9.pngs? like prash said, some of the things are tricky because they deal with xml coding and what not. i still feel that if someone helped you on this, you could get somewhere close to it. i don't mind helping out on tackling the dialer with you. it would be cool if this became like a group effort .

The Notification Pull-Down menu and Dialer looks crazy official. I think you should call this theme...Eclipse.

Man, THAT LOOKS REALLY NICE! Hope a full theme is released soon
I think this tray for the launcher I made for my future them would fit more to this theme. What do you think? (of course, dont look at the rest, because Im still not finished)

Edit: @joshuas_79, No disrespect man but I kinda like the semi transparent look of the launcher more and don't really fancy "menu" on it. But then again, it's just my opinion.

I work on occasion at Walt Disney World, and am almost always wishing I was there working all the time instead of my current job.
Anyways, I found an icon set located here: http://iconfactory.com/freeware/preview/epct that I thought would be great if I could create a TF3D theme out of.. But I don't have much time, nor the knowledge to do something like that.
I do have a lot of great photos from there though to use as wallpapers.
Can anyone lend a hand?

Just because its new im guessing? I sure hope its a passing fad, its hideous and now i cant hardly find a google themed custom rom anymore. whats the deal? Theres several roms id like to try but all of this custom theming crap is just ruining my rooted experience...big time bummer wish i knew how to take off a theme...

I think people like the pre theme because its very well done. Personally, its not my style... but I think its nice
What rom are you trying to flash? Most devs release their roms without a theme.... in any such case, most themes don't affect performance as long as they are themed correctly.
Don't like it either. actually have got sick of all the hero themes to.
Uhm, why do people like you have the audacity to try and criticize peoples efforts. I personally like the theme but have no interest in using a theme. You shouldn't have created this thread, you make this forum look bad. Instead you should try and create a theme you like yourself, see how hard it is. Then make a constructive reply that would benefit someones efforts.
have you seen the newest theme for cyans 3.9? i like it, it flows well. but please do not hate his work.

Wow the fact you had the nerve to post something like this is horrible. If you dont like their work just dont flash it. I use the pretheme because its nice, clean, works with cyan3.6.8.1 and is mostly clear so that my background sets most of the theme instead of some other themes that i dont prefer (although i appreciate their work) where the stuffs color is already set.
Most Roms come looking just like your g1 should have. Maybe a custom background or clock that are easy to change or remove. So try to wipe before you install something else!
whether its looks "good" or not is based up on ur opinion, but I think a lot of people like it cause its like a theming break-through. Its something different other than just changing the colors.
Themes just provide a visual enhancement. I like it if some people look at my phone and see an awesome theme, it makes the phone look like it's got bling.
Personally, I find themes softer on the eyes and some themes are relaxing eg. Cool Blue or another one.
..&& the palm pre is a slick phone && the OS is so freshh!! omg i wish i had the full OS compatiable with my g1! i love it so much lol!! i like the OS better than the iphone

What was the point of this? You just made a thread to bash hours of hard that someone put in just because you don't like it. Lots of people like it, I do, you don't, big deal. It was obvious that this was going to push some buttons with absolutely no gain for you or anyone else.
I dont know how or why anybody above the age of 13 would take what I typed personally. I wasnt "bashing" the hard work of anybody in particular. Sorry if thats how it came off. Believe me I know these devs spend more time on this stuff than any of us deserve.

yes themes are happy. people design themes because they find enjoyment in it,and thus are made happy. people flash themes because they like the theme and are happy with the theme; therefore, making them happy. thank you for such an insightful view

Just rooted my wife's Eris and now I've hooked her into modding her phone. She was looking around at some different themes and found the Droiddoespink rom. I know there are alot of dev's out there that only like to theme thier personal rom but for the sake of being truely customizable it would be super beneficial if we could get zip aligned themes only.
I'm specifically looking for theme's like droiddoespink or possibly purple color theme's or other Girly type theme's. I know it's hard to develop a theme that could apply to multiple rom's but if the great themer's on the forum here could pick maybe the most popular rom's and theme them we could choose which rom.....and which theme we would like.
I tend to like .zip aligned theme's better than metamorph because I feel it's easier and there is less to do (and less to go wrong) when installing.
Anyone that can provide me with something, Thanks in advance and I would greatly appreciate it!
MetaMorph is actually better for going across ROMs as for what you are asking, a custom framework apk and update would have to be made for each ROM. MetaMorph causes less damage and can be easier for all users across.
If you want to learn how to do either, I can teach you. Will only take a few mins and you will be surprised how easy it really is. PM me if you are interested. I am done themeing for the Eris as I sold mine but I never mind teaching people. I always say more themers the better.
If you want to let DroidKevlar teach you how to make the metamorph file It would be fine with me if you or anyone else that wants too pull the png's from my DroidDoesPink rom and make it into a metamorph file....I just don't have the time to do it myself.

My wife would love this theme. I have done some html and java/javascript back in the day. I have no idea where to even start with this. Ive got a little time and maybe a little money for coffee...lol. Looked at the Droid Does Pink and my wife thought it was awesome.

I'm a relatively new member, but have been lurking these boards for a long time now. I really admire the amazing work some of you guys do and have done.
I recently gave my beloved HTC Hero away (to my girlfriend) and switched to the awesome Galaxy S. I was a bit underwhelmed by the standard interface though (but that was to be expected) and immediately installed LauncherPro.
After applying the OCLF by RyanZA my device runs pretty smooth now. So that's great… but I still feel that, with the amazing hardware, the experience could be a lot smoother and aesthetically more pleasing.
Check out the MiUI ROM for instance (I can't post links, please search for it on YouTube or here on XDA). That looks amazing! Fantastic looks, great performance, nice innovations (widget-management) and a seamless and fluid experience.
I'd love to see something like this for our beloved Galaxy S. Maybe someone can eventually translate and port MiUI, but how about building something ourselves?
Now I'm not much of a coder, but I do know Photoshop (I'm a graphic designer) and I like to believe I know a thing or two about User Interfaces. So I could help out with/design the graphics for this.
Is there anyone that's interested and knows how and where to start with a project like this?

I am also very new member of this forum, so first of all "HI!" to everyone...
I started to play around with the system/themes/etc. a few weeks ago after I got the SGS (I used Motorola Milestone before). So I am definitly interested in taking part in this project, but unfotunately not much experience comes with me..
Until now I managed to build my own update.zip files to install my own apps and add some files to the system. Now I am working on "automagically" setting the APNs, default ringtone and add an app shortcut to the home screen...
Sounds like a good idea. I wish the UI had better widgets and looked a lot nicer.
I don't know much about coding but I'm into design and I'm pretty good in photoshop. So maybe I could help with the physical aspect of the UI.

Okay so first of all, let me just say, I have no idea when it comes to creating a theme for any platform, so nothing I post up here will never be created because I just don't 1, have the time to learn how-to and 2, I don't want to learn how to, excuse my ignorance.
However, I do know my way around photoshop, so with a spare hour at work today, I started to create this.
By all means, if someone with the knowledge wants to take a shot at converting this, go for it, just let me know before you do .

Sadly, I do not have any practical experience in this subject, but this topic does have a tutorial on what you need to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8504851&postcount=2(the topic currently says that the tutorial is 'temporarily down..' so just keep checking it, I would assume he is modifying the tutorial to make it work with gingerbread roms) To create the battery and the white app slider background, you would need to modify the Framework.res.apk
I think this theme looks great, although I do not know the limitations of themeing in sense 2.1 roms; so may need to ask an experienced themer on which method to take, flashable.zip or Skin Chooser theme.. My best advice is to ask the guy who made the thread I linked to you, as he has converted many themes, if he has the time; and you can supply the images, you'll have a working theme in no time
I already cooked the frameword-res.apk last night, it looks odd because the kitchen doesn't theme the recent apps section so that has got the carbon black look that Sense has, I think the theme would be really nice and clean, and could be done in a variety of colours to treat each persons needs. Simple and effective!
If anyone would like the cooked framework let me know, like I said, it's far from done. We'll call it Version 0.0.0.1

Maybe you could pm he_stheone64 about help to do this, he knows his way around theming with the new gingerbread framework. As I understand a few things has changed from the old 2.1 to the new 2.3 release.

Ohh you misunderstood me I didn't mean that should approach him for him to do this theme, just as a heads up for you to get help on how to theme. My bad I misread your first post
